Upload to Vimeo

First upload from fcp to Vimeo, there are several settings to export to web in compressor (download, streaming, web videocast, ect...), would anyone like to share some advice for best quality upload? 8 min hd video edited in fcp pro res 422 Thank you, John

Vimeo has an entire page in their help section that lists their compression requirements. You can build a custom preset based off of this information.

  • Unable to upload to Vimeo

I am unable to uplaod to vimeo from final cut X. I am working on a Macbook Pro.

Don't know if this will be helpful, but I generally edit in FCPX, create the quicktime movie in compressor, and then directly upload to vimeo using the vimeo upload tool.  This is the only way I have had success with everything coming out correctly.
    How large is your movie?

  • Does os 10.6.8 have a update that allows iMove to upload to vimeo?

Im wanting to upload to vimeo and there is no option to do that on my computer. I have that option on my macbook with OS 10.6.8 so wondering if there is an update that allows this on my desktop.

Vimeo support was added with iMovie 11.
If you have an older version of iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in the size you want to your desktop (or somewhere you can find it). Then it is easy to upload to Vimeo through the Vimeo web site.

  • Error message uploading to vimeo-"error", try again later"

I select upload to Vimeo for my movie and the processing begins and appears to be proceeding normally.  After some time passes and the processing is completed an error message appears saying only that a error has occured and that I should try again later.  Upon repeated trys the same error message appears after each attempt.  There is no suggestion about how to possibly remedy the problem.  Thanks for any help.  Fred

Thanks again,  Here's the details of the files captured by the PV 500 DVR
I'm using.  I'll answer your other questions in a follow-up response.

  • Noise when uploaded to Vimeo

    Hi,
I'm having a problem and I cannot find any solution, so I would be very grateful to any possible solution or any advice.
    - I have composed some music for a work of video art and I have given the music to the videoartist.
    - She adds the music to her project in Final Cut and everything is OK, but when we upload the video to Vimeo there appear some strange sounds as if there were some "dirt" or "low frequency scratches".
    - We thought that would be an occasional problem and we have tried uploading the video several times. However, the noise doesn't disappear.
    - The funny thing is that the sound is always in the same places, usually when there are some bass sounds or even kick sounds.
    - The work of video art soundsd perfect in Logic, in the cd, in the dvd and in the FC project, but not uploaded to Vimeo.
Thanks in advance for your answers. I'm looking foward to them

I imagine the Vimeo upload is compressed to a much smaller size, it's during the compression process that the noise is generated, probably from too strong an audio signal or to many low frequencies in the bass and kick.
You can try reducing the volume of the bass and kick in the mix, and/or use an Equalizer to remove or reduce all frequencies below 60Hz.
    (or even below 100Hz)
You will probably have to experiment, compression reduces audio quality and limits frequency response and it can even seem to add bass and accent certain treble frequencies.
You're giving her an aif or wav file to start with, correct?

  • Audio out of sync. once it's uploaded to vimeo and played back looks like the old godzilla movies. PP Pro CC 2014. frame rate is correct.

Has anybody experienced major lag time on the audio once uploaded to Vimeo? Vimeo is pointing to the export. The delay clearly gets worse once it is played back from Vimeo. I am at the point of splitting video and audio on the timeline and moving the audio forward a bit at a time to see if that will solve. Feels stupid to be doing this after all the work that goes into a 45 min Doc

First of all, when you export, you should see the dialog box that has information about the source video as well as the export. If you are shooting 25fps then you are not in the USA. If you are in the USA, look harder at your export settings.
But that isn't the problem you are facing.
Are you using the Vimeo app to play the videos on the iPad or are you just playing it in a browser? Use the app if you aren't now doing so.
I doubt that you are using anything other than AAC for your audio from what you have said about using the presets, but I have to ask. You are using AAC, right? That is what Vimeo prefers.
Have you tried turning the HD off in Vimeo to see if that clears up the problem? That will probably be fine on a smartphone. An iPad might see the difference though.
You are not going to be happy reading this Vimeo.com thread, but here it is anyway.
I don't even know what to make of this one.
In any case, you will read for yourself that you may want to change browsers on the mobile device.

  • Uploading to Vimeo

I'm editing AVCHD in CS5.5 (720p/30fps) and exporting it as an mp4 H.264 file.  Looks fine.  But when I upload to Vimeo, with and w/o the Vimeo preset selected in the export setting, anthe video comes out jittery.  Any ideas? Suggestions?  Thanks!

Vimeo recodes, and doesn't do a very good job.
I've found YouTube the better solution.

  • IMovie will not upload to Vimeo

I use iMovie to upload to YouTube all the time and it has always worked great. I noticed that the new version of iMovie has the ability also to upload to Vimeo. I have a Vimeo account so I chose the upload to Vimeo option and entered in my password, but nothing happened. IMovie didn’t give me either a progress bar or an error message. It just didn’t do anything. I checked my password to make sure it is correct. I do not understand why iMovie will not upload to Vimeo. How do I fix this?

I had the same problem. Looks like iMovie doesn't give any feedback when the login to Vimeo fails.
The most likely problem is that your "vimeo user account name" is *not* your full name (say "Marc-André Lafortune"), but your "shortcut url" (in my case "malafortune"). You can set this in vimeo by using this link: http://vimeo.com/settings/shortcut
This is what you must enter when you setup your account in iMovie. If that is correct and your password is good too, you will see a progress bar after the login is successful (2-3 seconds).
    HTH
If anyone from Apple is reading this: iMovie should be fixed by
    1) giving feedback when login fails
    2) ideally change "user account name" for "shortcut URL" or similar, with a popup like "what is this?"
    3) only accept the characters that are accepted by Vimeo for the shortcut URL (letters and numbers, no spaces, etc...)

  • Warnings After Uploading to Vimeo

    Hi,
I receive the following warning after uploading Captivate mp4 video to Vimeo:
    Just a warning…
We have some recommendations for this video:
This video's data rate is only 237 kbit/s, which is lower than what we recommend and means your video might not look as nice as it should. For HD video, we suggest you use a higher data rate, typically 5000 kbit/s. Learn more about our recommended HD settings.
This video uses a non-standard frame rate (15 FPS). This can sometimes cause problems during playback (such as the video and audio not syncing). Check out our Compression Guidelines for more information.
Vimeo support suggested I check here.
    Thanks.

Looks like that worked for one of the warnings but still get this:

  • Cannot upload to vimeo

since yesterday i cannot upload videos to Vimeo... when i try it, it takes like 10sec to pop up: Share Successful (which cannot be true!) ... then i log in on Vimeo and then appears: Download was a failure. ... I gotta said that the first time i try yesterday it appeared that i could not upload the video cause of a compression failure on my mac or something like that. But that just appeared once... after it, every time i upload something takes 10sec to pop up the message.
What is that? ... Why is iMovie such a pain in the ... HEAD!? every week i open it, it is something new...

The project did render to 100%, then I tried a compressor share function that worked fine.  But, when I tried the same compressor share function again, it did not work.  I still cannot get DVD share function to work.  Problems started when they did an upgrade.  I never had a problem with certain share functions like DVD (always had trouble with Facebook, Vimeo, understandable).  I could get around some problems by using Compressor, now compressor is not working.

  • Error uploading to Vimeo

I just got Premiere Elements 11 yesterday and am trying to upload a video to Vimeo (Vimeo HD).  I get an error "encountered an online services error."  I tried this 3-4 times and each time I get the same error after it goes upto 99%.
I was browsing for answers and came across several others who have had the same issue, and the advice was to "Referesh Services" under Edit > Preferences > Web Sharing.  Did that and still get the same error.

No.   I'm wanting the product to work as sold.  Things I've tried so far:
This is a forum of volunteer users that like to help others by "braninstorming".  Demanding service or demanding that features work will get little results.
The only updates to version 11 so far concern Adobe Camera Raw support.  It has to do with still photos taken in RAW formats.  It has nothing to do with Vimeo.
So that I would know it works, I just created a 30 second video and uploaded it to my Vimeo account.  So, I know that on my computer with my relatively slow connection that the software works "as sold".
That leads me to believe there is a different sort of issue.  It may be disk space, it may be an intermitnet internet connection or one of the other mysteries in computers.
If the volunteer brainstorming here is not to your likeing, the product is new and you have properly registered it, you should contact the paid staff at Adobe support.   Try clicking "Online Support" on the Help menu.  A page loads where there is a link to Customer Support below Online Experts on the right.  That might be a good place to demand the product work as sold.

  • Exporting a Video from final cut express and uploading to vimeo

  • Upload problems with Facebook and Vimeo from Premiere Elements 10

I have created a project in HD and am trying to upload to Vimeo.  Premiere Elements 10 does not have a preset so I followed some instructions from the Vimeo website.  Project is "blurry" when viewed.  I checked with Vimeo and they said what they converted matches what I sent so the problem must be in the export - bit rate may be incorrect.  Can anyone give me the correct presets for Vimeo from Premiere Elements 10.  I can view other people's video in HD and they look fine so I don't think it's my computer monitor.   I'm sure you will need more information about my project so please give me a list of specific things you need to know.  Thank you.
My Facebook problem is as follows.  If I use the preset from Premiere Elements 10 to upload to Facebook it looks fine, HD quality as expected.  Problem is, I would like to upload to my business page.  Since the personal page and the business page (managed by my personal account) share a login, the preset always loads to my personal page.  Does anyone know the values of the preset so I can upload the video to my business page.  My business is event and wedding videography so I would like the posts to be as clear as possible.
If the problem with the Vimeo uploads is solved then I suppose I can just share the Vimeo file on Facebook.  Thank you.

I think that you are overlooking what you already have with regard to a Vimeo HD preset for export to file for upload of the saved file at the Vimeo website.
    Please see
Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = Vimeo HD
Under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, you can customize the preset further from 1280 x 720 to 1920 x 1080 and increase the bitrate, if necessary, to a level that does not give you a prohibitive file size. With Profile = Main and Level = 3.1, the bitrate range is 0.19 to 14 Mbps (megabits per second).
I would start with the default bitrates of Target = 8 Mbps and Maximium = 9 Mbps and explore and experiment from there.
If you customize the preset to 1920 x 1080 in the Export Settings customization area, then change the Profile to High and the Level to 5.1
When you do that the bitrate range will be 0.19 to 300 Mbps instead of 0.19 to 14 Mbps.
In all cases, watch for file size versus bitrate versus quality of end product.
Please give that a look and then let us know if the above resolves your Vimeo and Facebook question.
Please review and let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • I have a 1-hour movie that is edited video with scored music, narration, sound effects on GarageBand. I'd like to upload it onto Vimeo or another server.  Is there a way to do it?  It doesn't seem possible.

I used to sell this movie in iDVD format, but feel it's somewhat dated information (on boating) and would like to just offer it to viewers for free.  The imovie program allows for exports/shares to Vimeo, but Garage Band does not.  It offers iWeb, but when I tried that, I wasn't sure what to do with the movie preview when it was completed with the compression.

Of course, now the file's too large to upload into Vimeo to keep it in the free status so I need to break it up.
If dont need any major edits of the movie and you just want to break the movie in parts, and to upload it in three separate parts, you could use GarageBand's cycle region to mark the parts that you want to export. GarageBand will only export the part of a project that is highlighted by the yellow cycle region bar.
Click the Cycle button (with two curved arrows) in the control bar to turn on the cycle region.
Drag the ends of the cycle region to the position in the timeline where you want your exported movie part  to begin and end.
Then export to disk and repeat for the next parts of your movie.

    Léonie

  • Stabilization disappears when uploading through Share Vimeo/Facebook/Youtube.

    Hey all,
I just shot a wedding video on Saturday. (I have five videos prior to this already uploaded on the respective three websites, all through iMovie 11 using the same method of clicking Share then each site).
Now, whenever I upload my latest video (fully edited, stabilized, etc.) the stabilization is gone by the time the video is to each site. The quality actually ends up worse than before it was stabilized. I use camera stabilizing equipmnt so there is hardly any tremor or sway in any of my shots so this should not be an issue. Some of my shots now shake like someone was jumping up and down very quickly. I rewatched an unstabilized version of my video in iMovie 11, QuickTime and I made a DVD to test on the TV. Yes there is some shakyness (because it is unstabilized) but, it's far superior than what is being uploaded into Vimeo/Facebook and Youtube.
So I tested a stabilized version doing the same three methods. Turns out near perfect. No shaking, very stable and smooth pans and shots. I reuploaded to Vimeo/YouTube and Facebook again last night. Same results, all stabilization gone and what appears to be an over exaggerated shaking of the camera.
Any ideas? I have never had this problem before this latest upload. I have OSX Snow Leapord up to date (refuse to buy Lion) and iMovie 11 up to date. It's becoming rather aggrivating as I rely on these sites to work correctly to help promote my business.
You thoughts and exptertise are greatly appreciated.
    Liz

    Anyone by chance?
Just tried creating a Quicktime version of the video per Vimeo's tech support. Did the same thing. It's like the Stabilization is not taking. Ideas?
