Upload unmatched songs without scanning library AGAIN

I've got a slow connection and it's taken many hours to scan my 15,000 songs and then match them. When it comes to uploading the 5,000 unmatched songs it takes so long that by the time I return to my laptop I see that the process has stopped and only a few songs have been uploaded.
If I click start again, it goes through all 3 steps despite my library already having been scanned and matched. Is there a way to skip steps 1 & 2 and go straight to step 3, uploading the unmatched songs?

Uploading of unmatched songs is automatic with iTunes Match. If you have not already done so you should enable the iCloud Status column in the iTunes browser. Pull down View > View Options, select the "icloud status" option and click OK. You'll see the songs that are "uploaded."

  • Can't sync new songs without erasing library.

I keep getting a pop up saying that my ipod can only be synced to one computer so when I purchased a new album on my laptop it said I would have to erase my entire library to download my purchases.  Any ideas? I have tried this before so I get my new downloaded music but then it is synced to my laptop and I can't get my old songs back from my old computer.  Any suggestions.

An iPod (except the iPod Shuffle or iPhone) can sync with more than one computer.  You have to select to manually manage your music.  This explains how:  Using iPad or iPod with multiple computers, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202

  • Can't upload new songs into old library?

I had another itunes account under another email... I moved... I misplaced my ipod & went on with my life.
I found my ipod. I created a new acct with my new email & bought a bunch of songs. Now there's some foolishness that I can't have 2 libraries & so I can't get my new songs on the ipod with my old stuff. There are threats of deleting the old library for the new & I can't have that!
Any suggestions appreciated before I put my ipod back in a drawer. Please feel free to point me to another thread or a section in a manual. I've given up trying to find the answer myself as I am old, cranky & up way after my bed time.
    Thanks

    Welcome to AD!
There are a few ways to approach this.
First off, authorize your PC under the old account. If you have forgotten the details, use these directions to recover your old account info.
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/password/
You might need to contact iTS support if you can't get to the old email.
Once you get the PC authorized with the old account, you should be able to use the "Transfer Purchases" feature - and not erase anything.

  • I used to have over 600 songs in my library- 50 or so puchased via i tunes and the rest painstakingly uploaded from CD's over the years. Since signing up to i cloud the only songs are the ones purchased. Have the others permanently gone?

If I take the time to upload them all again will the same thing happen?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music then you will need to contact iTunes Support - try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

Not a good idea! The "show duplicates" feature shows "all" duplicate tracks, but you only want to delete the "extra" copies, not the "originals".
I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this  thread for background, including how to delete the extra tracks manually if you prefer.

  • I have "doubles" of all my songs in my library.  Is there a way to delete the "extra" without doing it one at a time?

I have "doubles" of all songs in my library due to my ignorance about transferring from old computer to new.  Is there a way to delte all of the extras without doijng it one-by-one?

I have tried rebooting, but everything was still frozen afterward.  I've considered doing a restore on the computer, but that would probably wipe all of my saved information out as it's never been connected with the computer before. Also, during a restore, it asks you to confirm information on your iphone screen, which is impossible to do with it being frozen.

  • Every song in my library is duplicated.  How do I delete the duplicates without doing one at a time?

How do I delete duplicate songs in my library without doing one at a time?

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

  • Is there any way that I can have songs in an iTunes Playlist without having the songs play in my regular music list.  For instance: can I have a Playlist of Christmas songs without having them play in the routine shuffle of my music library?  Thanks -Rog

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

  • My new I5 uploaded doubleded all the songs from my library! Please, can somebody help me showing how can I delete just the songs that was doubled?

    Hi there everybody,
My new Iphone 5 uploaded doubleded all the songs from my library! Please, can somebody help me showing how can I delete just the songs that was doubled?
Some help will be greatly appreciate.
    Thanks much!

When you say "account," do you mean your iTunes library, because your iTunes library is what is on your computer?  Your iTunes library does not have an email address.  An account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID (which is an email address) and you use it as your user name to sign in to the iTunes Store, to make purchases.  Changing your Apple ID will not make songs disappear from your computer's iTunes library.
If you had an Apple ID and used it to make song purchases from the iTunes Store, and then started using a different Apple ID, you should be able to re-download the songs purchased with the old Apple ID.  In iTunes, sign in to the iTunes Store using your OLD Apple ID (and password).  That may not be your current email address, but Apple uses it as your user name, so it does not matter.
On the iTunes Store Home screen, click on Purchased under QUICK LINKS.  This takes you do the Purchased screen, where you can re-download previous song purchases (for that Apple ID) at no cost.
NOTE:  If those song purchases are from more than a few years ago, you may also need to authorize your computer to play (and sync) songs for your old Apple ID.
For songs that were not purchased from the iTunes Store, if they are also gone, you cannot get them back unless you have a backup (or they are still loaded on your old iPod).
If that's not what you mean by "changed the email address on my account," please post back with more details.

If your CDs are on your iPod/iPhone, they can be recovered from there, see this post:

Your problem shows the importance of making backups.

  • HT1751 if i back up my itunes library to an external hard drive and then add subsequent music and want to back that up a few days later, can i backup the only newly added music without backing up the entire library again?

    hello,
if i back up my itunes library to an external hard drive and then add subsequent music and want to back up the newly added music a few days later, can i do it without backing up the entire library again? or do i need to back up the entire library each and every time i back up to the external hard drive?

Just copy Users/yourusername/Music/iTunes (containing your library-files) to your external drive as well as that (extaernal) folder that contains all your audio-tracks.
