Uploaded music (CDs) won't sync to my new iTunes from my iPod?!

I have recently bought a new macbook air. My ipod won't sync without deleting all of my music! The music that I have bought from itunes is the only music that will be saved (due to apple remembering what I bought in the past) and I obviously don't want to loose all of my uploaded music as a result! How do I sync it without loosing my music?!

Unfortunately, unless you have a backup and can restore the iTunes library to the new computer, you are stuck with the current state of the iPod. This is one of those things that makes doing backups so important.
Unless your music is all purchased from iTunes (not from your own CD's that you imported into iTunes and then downloaded to the iPod), you will be able to re-download all your iTunes store music back to the iPod when you install iTunes on the new computer. When you first attach the iPod to the new computer and new iTunes the first time it will tell you that this iPod is synced with another iTunes library and let you initialize the iPod (which will erase everything on the iPod - so don't do this unless you don't care about the stuff on the iPod now).
I've seen 3rd party apps in the past that will let you copy music/content from iPod to computer and bypass iTunes, but not sure if they still exist as this was several years ago.

Make sure the Enable disk use option is NOT ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes. If you do have to remove this tick mark, be sure to hit the Apply button in the lower left hand corner of the window in iTunes to update the changes to your device. Then try restoring it again.

Losing music and movies while syncing with the new itunes 7!

Several times I have lost my movies and music when I have connected my ipod and it synced with itunes. I synced earlier in the day (or the day before in other cases) and it worked fine. I didn't change any options on the ipod. After I lose the files I click on my ipod in itunes and the sync check boxes have been unchecked. when I recheck the sync boxes it will reload all of my stuff but it is a hassel, especially if i'm in a hurry. I never had this problem with the earlier version of itunes. What is making it lose the files when I sync?

Are you syncing it to more than one computer? If so it is operating normally. If you want to sync to more than one, you must opt to Manually manage your music. If you opt to do this, then be sure you have a backup of your music somewhere other than your iPod as you might have to restore it.

HT1473 It seems like many commercial music CDs won't import into iTunes (copy protection?), so you can only play them from the disc, not your other devices. Am I missing something?

More and more commercial music CDs won't seem to import into iTunes - they just spin, falter, and spit out. I would think I had a setting wrong except older CDs load with no problem. I'm guessing there's copy protection on the newer ones, which seems unfair if you want to, say, buy a CD that has bonus material not available via iTunes (and then have to buy the regular material again on iTunes). Is there a way around this? An easy fix so I can keep buying CDs when I want to? I know it's a technology that's on the way out, but it's not gone yet.

Audio CD copy protection is relatively rare. I doubt its use is on the increase as it would be just one more nail in CD's coffin. On the few occasions I've bought CDs that won't rip I've gone straight back to the store for a refund. If the drive is attempting to read at max. speed it might help to force it to read slower (if indeed you have that as an option) and it may help to switch the error correction mode.

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

TS4124 I have around 1000 songs manually downloaded from my CD's to iTunes in my iPhone before an operating system change on my computer deleted my iTunes and had to create a new one. The music won't transfer to my new iTunes! How do I get it back?

I can't figure out how to get my music back onto a new iTunes from my iPhone. I had to replace my iTunes after an update to my operating system on my MacBook Pro was reversed (found Mountain Lion to be incompatible with many existing programs and couldn't use it). Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Otherwise what happens when you try to sync? Note that you can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. If that is the problem you should go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase and content and setting and set up the iPod on you computer/iTunes library. One content on the iPod does not belong to you.
