Uploaded website will not display in browser

HI Everyone,
I am stumped.
Long story but I'll get to why I'm here. I have spent the last few hours trying to get my new site to show up on the net after it has been published. I have tried a number of things. I have to note that my previous site created in Iweb displayed correctly and there were no problems at all uploading/publishing.
I deleted the old site off of the server (wmec.ca), tried uploading via Iweb FTP to the public directory where the old site was. Error message saying in the browser (safari) that the website is unavailable. Iweb only published 1/3 of the files via FTP which I thought odd which lead me to the next step.
Deleted old site off of server (wmec.ca), tried uploading the new folder (wmec.ca) to my server via FTP software (filezilla) to where the old folder of the same name was. I get the error message in Safari that there is no Index file. Even though there clearly is an index file, the browser can't seem to find it
Any ideas what I can try?

iWeb generates two index.html files - one outside the main folder and another inside.
Perhaps the external one has not been uploaded. If that's the case, this should work...

Open your FTP application and look in the root folder on the server to see what's there.
Is there an index.html file present outside of the main folder containing your website files?

Image will not display in browser

I have saved an image from online. When I insert the image into Dreamweaver, everything looks fine. However, when I display the page in a web browser (Explorer and Firefox), only the alternate text shows up. The image file is a jpeg. I have tried this process with gif's and png's. Both end with the same result.
Any help will be appreciated,

A link as Gary pointed out is the best way to see what the problem may be.
Did you save the image to your working folder and have you defined a site pointing to this folder.
Defining a site helps Dreamweaver track and organize the files used in this site.

If you can't see the image, this means that the path to the image is incorrect.

One of the pages in my website will not display the Amazon links to books I sell. Only one book, wiich is not on Amazon displays on the page. On Internet Explorer, all my books display. why?

Ever since converting my website to WordPress the "Recommended Reading" page doesn't display the book I listed that link to Amazon. Only one book linked to another website displays, but not of the Amazon Books.
This does not happen on Internet Explorer. I have asked this question last week but have not received a response.

Do you have any ad-blocking software?
Those links have ad in the url that might trigger such software.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Oracle Discoverer Viewer will not display in browser

I tried using the link below to get to discoverer viewer but it is not working. I can access Oracle Enterprise Manager without any problem.

I am using oracle 9iAS on Windows 2000 Professional.
Database is the one created from the Oracle 9iAS CD that holds the 9iAS Infrastructure.
I have tried using both Netscape 7.1 and Internet Explorer 6.
At this moment, I am hosting database, Application server and browser on this test machine.
I am starting to believe that may be I do not have the correct EUL version but I have used Oracle IDs to create the EUL. It is version 5.x.x. I am not at the location so I cannot give the exact EUL version.

Random websites will not display

Hi all. I'm running 10.5.8 on a five-year-old Intel Core Duo. About two weeks ago, certain web pages stopped loading. This includes GoDaddy, Twitter, Woot, Apple, and some random other ones. I thought this was a Firefox problem, but it's happening consistently across ALL browsers: Safari, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. I've run an anti-virus, anti-spyware, run software updates, and reinstalled Leopard, and nothing. It's not the router, because there are several computers on my network, and none of the others are having this problem. I've tried everything I can think of and/or feel comfortable doing. Any ideas?

I've got exactly the same issue with Twitter and other sites including 'The Daily Mash'. My windows laptop works fine on my broadband. The pages just stopped loading one day. No rhyme or reason for it. I had it before and it cleared but tried deleting my cache and nothing.

Firefox will not display certain features of websites in windows 8.1

I've upgraded to windows 8.1. Installed Firefox (now ver. 26) right away. I go to the same websites to pay bills, do work stuff etc for the past few years.
Those websites work fine most of the time. RANDOMLY (at least to me) 2 websites have been giving me trouble for certain features:
1. Banking website will not display my online bill pay. It does not crash, it just says "unable to display page" and for me to check my firewall etc, reload page, etc. When I go to other features for my bank, it works fine except for the bill pay.
2. My work website has a feature to display paychecks etc. It give me the same message of "unable to display".
Here's the weird thing: I open and close firefox a few times and the page "magically" works.
I load the same page in IE 11 and I have the same problem.
I load the same page in chrome 32.0.1700.107m and I never have this problem.
I load the same pages in firefox ver. 26 on a windows 7 machine and it work just fine.
I'm at a loss since Firefox is my primary browser and only have the other browsers for the occasional incompatibilities.
Any ideas? I've concluded that it's a windows 8.1 issue/compatibility but would like to try other solutions before I downgrade back to windows 7.
FYI: I've turned off windows firewall and the same issue still occurs. I've updated to the latest adobe flash, shockwave, and Java. I only have one extension installed - adblocker (which is disabled for these websites).

Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have or may not function properly otherwise.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the about:config page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu if you want to display PDF documents in Firefox with another application (i.e. not the built-in PDF Viewer).

Newly created images will not display in Firefox 8 for Mac. Same images appear in other browsers. Why?

1. Specific new images are uploaded but will not display in Firefox 8 on my Mac with OS 10.6.8. (Does appear in other browsers, e.g., Chrome and Opera, and appears on Firefox 8 for PC.) Also, other images on the page display.
2. I have cleared cache, cookies, etc., in Recent History, and restarted both application and computer.
3. I've tried creating GIF, JPG and PNG, but none show on the page in Firefox on my Mac. I can see the offending image in other browsers such as Chrome on the same computer, and on Firefox on PC. *Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.

PDF will not display in an IE browser window

I have the following setup:
Windows Vista Business w/ SP2
Internet Explorer 8 (8.0.6001.18813)
Adobe Reader 9 (9.1.3)
When accessing a PDF document using IE8, the PDF will not display in an IE browser window. Instead, the PDF opens in a new Adobe Reader window.
When accessing the same PDF in Firefox or Chrome, the PDF appears in the browser window.
I have tried repairing Adobe Reader using the Help>Repair Adobe Reader Installation menu, both by running Adobe Reader as an admin and not. I have confirmed that Adobe Reader "Internet" preference "Display PDF in Browser" option is enabled (checked). I have enabled/disabled this preference without affect. The PDF document is always opened in it's own Adobe Reader window.
I have tested this using different PDF documents served up by different servers. The result is the same. The PDF document is always opened in it's own Adobe Reader window.
How can I get the PDF to open in an IE8 browser window?
I look forward to any suggestions offered.

I am experiencing the same symptoms as gaijindragonslayer described above, and my Internet Plug-ins folder is empty. I would like to have Preview as my default pdf reader, but am unable to view a pdf in Safari at all right now -- I have to download the pdf and then open it with Preview separately in order to view it.
What else might cause this?

Firefox will not display my photo website properly nor play the music from it on my new computer. I have 2 other PCs and it works fine on those.

Just set up a new PC and downloaded Firefox. It will not display my Zenfolio Photo website correctly nor will it play the music that accompanies the main page slideshow. I have 2 other PCs and it works fine on them. All are Windows 7 Home Premium.

Note that there is nothing wrong with setting Flash to "Ask to Activate" and click the Lego block icon on the Navigation Toolbar to activate the Flash plugin when needed.
You can verify on the Adobe Flash Players Test Page that the Flash plugin is working and which version you have once you have installed the plugin and checked the setting in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins"

One website will not load on any browser, will work on mobile phone

One website will not load on any browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome). Have turned off all security programs and firewalls, have tried in Safe Mode, will not load. It works on my smartphone. Can load the basic site, but not the sign-in page. Says Connected at the bottom of the page, but says Connecting at the top, and the little circle goes around counter clockwise; ran for one hour, still didn't load. It used to load, don't know if I did something or downloaded some program to make it stop.

You can try to access the website in a New Private Window.

In FireFox 4.0, PDF files will not display

After updating to 4.0, PDF files will not display in the browser window as before. All I get is blank screen. Everything works fine in IE9. I have updated all the plug-ins, including Adobe Acrobat. Also have enable Display PDF in browser in Acrobat Reader.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.

Safari will not display new domain endings on iPad

Safari will not display new domain endings, instead goes to google, other browsers have no issue with this just safari. My domain per example ends in .photo rather than .com etc.... This is only an issue on the iPad or mobile app of safari.

You need to check that website again, after clearing the cookies from browser. If it still unable to connect with the website having new domain names then message to Safari forum about the problem or inform them via feedback option available in browser. Hopefully they would troubleshoot this problem.

Images will not display, please help

I have built a couple of sites, one with tables one CSS where
my banners will not display on my screen when I view the site
online. The sites are:
www.gnewt.co.uk &
www.getouthavefun.co.uk
The banners are visible on some other computers online, but
not all and the images display fine when i preview the site not
online but in Firefox or IE. I have tracked the problem down to
this, online when I right click where the image should be
displaying it says the filename etc and for dimensions says:
Image Dimensions: 1px × 1px (scaled to 950px ×
120px)
Size of File: 0.04 kB (43 bytes)
I can right click and download the image to my desktop from
the ftp and it will display fine, so it must be an html problem. I
have been using templates and have uploaded a version not attached
to a template and that makes no difference, I have also tried
differing filetypes such as gif and png, again no change.
Furthermore if you put in the incorrect URL for the image, at least
then it displays the Alt Text.
The html code is very basic:

src="banners/2.jpg" alt="banner" name="Banner" width="950"
height="120" border="0" /></td>
SO the image is there somehow but the browser thinks its only
1px across, if you put in plain text it displays fine? Can anyone
help me with why this happens as I have tried everything I can
think of - i'm not particularly good with html so it could be
something elementary

Sounds like the work of Norton. Don't ever use the word
'banner' in any part of your images. Rename the image and alt text
and see if that works.
