Uploading a full site to BC.

Hello,
I have a site I created at school using HTML and CSS coding. My next class has us using Dreamweaver which I'm already familiar with, but I want to upload the site I coded from scratch so I can show it off. I was going to use one of my Business Catalyst sites, but every time I put it to the server, BC creates style sheets for me and templates that I do not want to use.
Is there any way to upload a full site to BC without using Adobe's style sheets or templates? I mean, I thought that was the whole point of becoming a developer.
Should I just buy space through another provider so I can upload a site using my style sheets and templates?
Any suggestions are welcomed.

Hi Ian,
Custom templates are fine to use as long as its all client-side scripted files (HTML, CSS, Flash etc).
Templates designed for like Dupral, Joomla, etc will not fully work especially because our modules/components are not compatible with BC. So with this understanding when purchasing a custom template you can then simply upload via FTP and add to the site template section to easily manage and assign.

I don't think you need Preview.
Select the image and use File->export and you have full control over the size and compression.

Are you sure about your FTP credentials (FTP folder and site URL) that you are using for the upload? Are you able to see the updated files in the remote directory of the FTP server, after you finish uploading the muse file, using an external FTP client like FileZilla?

Why can I only see the mobile version of certain websites instead of the full site?

some website are shown only in mobile version instead or full version, even when I click on the link that says "full site" I get redirected to the mobile version. This only happens in Firefox since I've tried other browsers too.

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Full site link code to override mobile redirect in Adobe Muse

Hi - I've set up a desktop and mobile site in Muse. I allow Muse to generate the code that automatically goes to either the desktop or mobile version depending on which type of device the user is using.
On the mobile version I have a simple "welcome" page and a link that says "click to enter mobile site"
I also want to have a link below that one that says "click to enter full site" But when I make this link and you click on it, it doesn't go to the desktop version but loops back to the mobile version (because of the view code Muse creates).
Is there a way for me to make the "full site" link code to "override" the Muse code to force the desktop version to display on the mobile device?

I must upload my entire site and it is time consuming. I was advised to update to IWeb 09 (which I could get, I think? from Amazon) because it has a built- in option to publish to any FTP. How do I convert my 08 folder to an 09 folder? Will it convert correctly? I know eventually I will need to rebuilt the site, but I would like to use this option for awhile to buy time. Is this feasible? I currently own a Mac Pro.

Its just a question of installing the later version of iWeb from the iLife disk and opening your website in that version. Its a good idea to have a backup of your Domain.sites2 file before doing this. See this page for its location...

Maybe you could let me know which hosting service you are using so that I can add them to my list of those NOT recommended for iWeb users!
I just dealt with one today who claimed the iWeb sites were incompatible and that the first line of code should be deleted from every HTML file before upload to their server.
They didn't even offer the information that it would be a lot easier to modify the .htaccess file never mind offer to do it for a customer.
Nobody should expect to pay for service like this and the answer is to dump them and go to a company that gives you some value and support for your money. If the ones on this page don't meet your requirements for cost and service...

Hit Counter button not appearing when I upload the web site.

I am using iWeb version 3.0.4 on OS 10.6.8, and on the Welcome page, I added the Hit Counter button. When I upload the web site, the Hit Counter button does not appear. Anyone have any solutions as to why it isn't appearing? Thanks...

Where are you hosting the site? The counter will not work on ftp servers, only on MobileMe. If you are hosting on MobileMe increase the footer height considerable and publish. If the counter then appears you can move it closer to the body/footer border and reduce the footer height.
If you're not on MobileMe consider a 3rd party counter like StatCounter. This tutorial describes how to add it to iWeb pages: #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet

Uploader in my site so that visitors can easily upload their pictures etc.this have been posted so many times but i cant find one with a nice solution/script. i have found php form generator demo to easily create an email form with upload capability but its too limited. you can only upload 1 at a time. Thanks!

FF reverts to the mobile version of wordpress bloggs instead of the full site.

I noticed this problem with wordpress blogg sites and then with spanishdict.com. I did come across some other sites which I could not view the full site unless there was a "full site" link on the mobile site, like there is on Spanishdict.com.

Upload expression web site to visual studio

We use Expression and Front Page format for our Web site and is it possible to upload our web site into Visual Studio to maintain it and then upload it on to the WEB using Visual Studio? And HOW is it done?????????

However, I can't find them, and if I do download, it gives me an error message that the book is DRM protected. How do I get to the point where I can download books again?

Not with Safari. There are some browsers available from the App store that have that feature. I think iCab is one.

How to scale down without cutting the edges out of a poem so that it will fit a 649 pixel size which the site I'm uploading it to says it will resize it down to ?

See my own reply, and Thank you for trying to help me. It was not letting me "scale the original scanned pic down in pixel size without cutting off the edges and since this was a poem I was wanting to upload to a site which said it would have to put it up with a 649 W( I assume pixel is what they meant ) since when I tried it-it was too large for the window into which I was dragging it. But as I said, I was able to do it using my printer/scanners profile settings for photo's down from 200% to 150% which worked perfectly.
So, Thank you Michael for taking the time to assist me and if anyone else is having the same trouble using iPhoto '09 you could suggest this possibility.
