  • Help me remember how to download a powerpoint file to Keynote

    Can someone remind me how to download a powerpoint file to Keynote?

    Keynote is a Mac Application only, there is not a  Windows version of Keynote.
    I assumed you would realise this as you asked the question in a Mac discussion forum.
    If you have further iPad questions, direct them to the correct forum where you will get a better responce here:

  • Can't open powerpoint files in keynote since Mountain Lion upgrade

    Not having much luck and not sure which forum to post in as this could be a Mountain Lion issue, an iWork issue, but is also an iWork and/or IOS6 issue!
    Until last week I had Lion on iMac and IOS5 on iPad. I was able to log on to my work network server (school network, I am a teacher) and open powerpoint, word or excel files in keynote, pages or numbers on my iPad. I then upgraded to IOS6 and now none of the files will open up on my iPad. I get the open in screen when I choose a file to open, then nothing happens.
    In the meantime, I upgraded my iMac from Lion to Mountain Lion. Since I was having problems accessing my work files and viewing them on my iPad, I decided to buy Keynote on my iMac in the hope that I could get on with some work on iMac rather than iPad. I logged on to my school server and tried to open a powerpoint file and for some reason it downloads it as a pptx.exe and if I try to open it I get an error message saying "You can't open the application xxx.pptx.exe because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OSX". It shouldn't be a .exe file it should just be a powerpoint file! When I open Keynote and look for available files on my iMac, the file I just downloaded is greyed out.
    Hmmmmm so I have an iMac, an iPad, two versions of the Keynote app (plus numbers and pages on the ipad) and can't open any of my files from my school network. That seems a lot of money in one pot Apple and something has changed from Lion to Mountain Lion, and from IOS5 to IOS6 which is preventing me from doing my work. IOS5 allowed me to open any ppt, xls, doc, pptx, xlsx, docx file from my school network so why since upgrading to IOS6 can I suddenly not open them??
    Now having forked out for Keynote on my iMac, I have the same problem.
    I am able to open attachments in emails and I am able to log on to the school VLE and access and open files. So it is just something to do with opening from the normal file system that I can't do.
    I posted in the iPad and iWork forum and had no replies. However, Apple iWork team have contacted me after reading my post re the iPad issue of opening files from my network. I've provided info to them and am waiting for a response, but in the meantime I have now discovered there is also an issue on my iMac. Hopefully they will read this too or someone else will perhaps know what is going on.
    It is a worry that I can't do any work using my Apple products seeing as I have bought them! I have had to go back to bringing my windows laptop home everyday which I hope is a short term solution. I have loved the fact that I could access everything on my school network from my iPad in the past and not have to drag a laptop around. I am also worried that this means pupils can't access the files too if they are using Macs, iphones, ipads etc and have upgraded to Mountain Lion or IOS6.
    Hoping someone can help
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the response but I think you've misunderstood the problem. I can not open any type of PowerPoint file off my server in keynote. This includes .ppt and .pptx files. (Also includes .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx in pages and numbers).
    Even if what you said worked it would take forever to go through every file and save them all as ppt 2007. Plus of course, I don't know what files I will need when. There are hundreds of resources I need to access when I'm at home. I need the flexibility to view the files when i need to and on the go. Normally I can download them off my school network on to my iPad in keynote and edit them then I email them back to myself ready to use the next day or to save back to my network. Currently I can not download any Microsoft office file. So I am now forced to have to lug my laptop home everyday, rendering my iPad and iMac useless. I can't pre-empt what I'll need and save it as .ppt as that is completely inflexible and that won't open anyways as this is not an issue with the version of PowerPoint file. This is an issue with how all Microsoft files are downloading from my school network to my iPad and iMac. I want Apple to allow this to work like it used to before the upgrades in operating systems. I wish I hadn't upgraded as it worked perfectly. :(

  • While trying to upload an Audio file from a CD, iTunes won't let me.  Says there is a duplicate file.

    I have been successfully uploading Audio CDs for a Social Studies Textbook onto my iTouch.  When I went to do this today, iTunes "Failed" because it says there is a duplicate file.  I have not uploaded this new CD, so that is not possible.  Each CD lists their "Tracks" the same way.  Track 01, Track 02, etc, however I renamed previous tracks in iTunes.
    I need to get these files uploaded so we can listen to them on the iTouch, but I have had no success today.  The frustrating part is that I have done 3 CDs previously with no issues.
    Even if I did find a duplicate file, I don't know how to delete the file.  I do have 1 failed "Track 01" in the Recently Updated section, but it won't play, because it can't "locate" the file.  When I try to delete in iTunes, "Delete" is greyed out and unavailable.
    What do I need to do?

    I keep getting 'check Internet connection' getting bit sick of it now ;( sorry cant help

  • Finding embedded word files when opening a powerpoint file with Keynote

    I can't!
    I have tried control clicking on the file and there is nothing. In the presentation there are icons that are meant to open word files but when I click them it just takes me to the next slide. I have been through all the menus and I am stuck.
    I know that the files open for people using powerpoint but I suspect I am the only Mac user in the group of teachers using the files.

    Welcome to the discussion boards, k1r5tymm.
    Unfortunately, Keynote will not open Word files from within a presentation -- see this discussion about the issue, and possible workarounds. Your best bet is to follow Kyn's suggestion in that thread, and open the documents before you start the presentation, then use Command-Tab during the presentation to change between KN and Word. Or, if you have all the documents open, you could also use Expose's Show All Windows (the F9 key), which would allow you to select the document you want very quickly, and looks slick besides.

  • Error sfcompatibility plug-in when opening large PC powerpoint file on keynote.

    I have been able to open this file once...but now even other smaller sized PC files won't open.  I also sometimes receive 'import error  out of memory'  message and 'Keynote quit unexpectedly while using the SFCompatibility plug-in'...any ideas/suggestions?
    I have a macbook pro with keynote 09.  Anyways to fix this ...please help...

    Hi Manny
    I too am having an "import error-out of memory" hassle with a PPT 5.5MB file importing into Keynote.  Looking at the forum issues and Google results this is not a new issue [posts go back to 08-09] with Keynote and especially those using PowerBooks.
    As there has been no input from Apple I presume it is a tough nut for them to crack.
    My workaround was to download Open Office for free, and it imports into OO with no problems.
    Cheers

  • Cannot transfer any files onto my 4s Itunes error

    I get this error for any mp3 file including files that worked previously, also any video files that have been converted with iphone/itouch settings.
    edit: I found a solution >_>
    Just copy and paste instead of dragging.

    Fine, whatever. So you proved me wrong. I don't see any proof. I don't see any evidence that you didn't put the media into your iTunes library. Heck, I don't even see a coherent question in your post. If it works, great. I honestly don't care any more.

  • Upload my .APK file onto Google play error, after i build it with dreamweaver cs6

    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs6-creative-cloud-feature-tour-for-web/using-the-phonegap-build -panel-in-dreamweaver-cs6-to-build-native-applications-for-android-and-ios-devices/
    after i done on the video clip above.....
    then go to my google developer site to upload the .APK (which is app.apk) file but google says the following :
    UPLOAD FAILED
    You need to use a different package name because "com.example" is restricted
    You upload an APK that was signed in debug mode. You need to sign your APK in release mode.
    please help ..

    I write about my new tests,  I've found this good Google documentation URL : http://developer.android.com/tools/publishing/app-signing.html ;-).
    I don't know if this method is more valid or even with my first method, but I downloaded the tools and I followed the method to create a keystore, with no success :
    I've created a keystore/ pair of keys, it's Ok :
      keytool -genkey -v -keystore certificatAutoSigne-2013.keystore -alias certificatAutoSigne-2013 -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -validity 10000
    But I don't understand where can I add the Google public key to sign my APK file, because the keystore isn't a text file !
    Secondly I've error message with this command line :
      jarsigner -verbose -sigalg SHA1withRSA -digestalg SHA1 -keystore certificatAutoSigne-2013.keystore MyAPKFile
    Obviously an APK file already signed can't be re-signed. I don't know how to creat APK file no signed with ADT, do you know ?

  • Equations for Keynote and Powerpoint Files?

    I copied a powerpoint file onto my Ipad2 and used Keynote to open it.  Most everything is fine, but Ipad-Keynote won't recognize the equations.
    The Keynote on my Macbook pro will recognize them.  The equations were made with Microsoft's equation editor.
    Is there any way to get Keynote to recognize equations?  Alternatively, is there some app for the Ipad that will recognize/show/allow-editing of
    equations in powerpoint?

    This is fine, but not really the answer. If you look at the MathType web site, you'll find the following in response to queries about Equation Editor on the iPad:
    "Is there a version of MathType for Apple Pages on iPad/iPhone?
    No. Not yet anyway. Since Apple released Pages for iPad, we have received numerous inquiries regarding creating and editing MathType equations in that environment. Since the iPhone uses the same software as iPad, it is reasonable to expect that Apple will offer a version of Pages that works on it as well someday soon.
    Pages for iPad lacks MathType support
    As you probably know, Apple added support for MathType to iWork '09 in all three iWork apps, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. This required Apple to do software development in these applications. We made only minor changes to MathType to make this work. Before we can make a version of MathType for Pages, or any other iWork app, Apple must do similar work in Pages for iPad.
    Why don't you guys work this out with Apple?
    We would love to. However, it is not just a matter of us picking up the phone and calling Tim Cook, or anyone else in Apple management for that matter. Big companies like Apple get inundated daily with requests from smaller companies to make things work in their favor. Like all smart companies, Apple does not set its market direction by listening to other companies but by listening to its customers.
    So what can I do?
      The best thing you can do to get MathType support added to Pages for iPad/iPhone is to   tell Apple that it is important to you. Apple has a Pages for iPad Comment Form that is perfect for giving them feedback. Encourage your friends and associates to also let them know that you would like MathType support in Pages for iPad. If you work at a university or other educational institution, or company with lots of iPads, you may have other avenues open to give Apple feedback. Companies love feedback from their customers. We do and we are pretty sure Apple does also."
    So it is really a two-way street, and I am sure that a small company like Design Science would LOVE to be able to have their product as an iPad app, or even as transferable from a MacBook. However, it seems that for them to ready MathType for the iPad, it needs a little effort from Apple, which has not, so far, been forthcoming. Again, it comes down to the question of why has Apple turned its back on the tablet concept, when they had it first, and as a company trying so hard to dominate the education market? It makes no sense, unless they really just don't care about it, and would rather sell iPhones and iPads for folk to play Angry Birds on.
    And telling me I have to use PowerPoint is not the solution - PowerPoint is clunky and ugly, compared to Keynote on the MacBook, and there's no reason to drive a Yugo when a Jaguar is sitting in the garage, waiting for a fourth wheel.
    I really would like to now what apps can sit on an iPad and allow me to handwrite on top of a Keynote presentation, and include complex equations without inordinate additional effort. None of the MacBook solutions is satisfactory, especially when I a) have video content, and b) am trying to record the lecture to a Podcast at the same time, and I don't see that possibility on the iPad yet. Technology is supposed to make preparing and delivering material to students easier and more efficient - the reality is that, with thestill crude tools currently available, doing so can become an infinite sink for time and resources. It may be true that where there is a will there is a way, but what there is not is an infinite supply of time to make it happen.

  • Problems with Converted PowerPoint Presentation in Keynote

    Hello,
    I recently loaded a 29Mb Powerpoint file into Keynote on my 64Gb iPad 2.  Whenever I launch Keynote, the 29 Mb presentation loads automatically and I cannot access any of my other Keynote presentations.  I've tried powering off and stopping the Keynote app to no avail.  In addition, I cannot load the Keynote Menu options at the top of the screen while my 29 Mb presentation is active.  Has anyone else encounted this type of behavior in Keynote when converting large Powerpoint files on an iPad?
    Thanks.

    Thank you for your reply. I agree with you that it seems the GB iLife preview file is not updating as one would expect it to. Sharing the file to iTunes then importing to Keynote does work, without all the extra preferences changing and the extra save. I would think that as more people switch to Keynote from PowerPoint, those who like the ability to sync slide groups to multiple audio files will find GarageBand a great way to do this. But the export of edited files from GB to Keynote should be easier.

  • Infopackage upload routine flat file

    Hi,
    I'm uploading a flat .csv file with an infopackage routine (called by a process chain).
    First it checks the existence and if the file exists running it's ok, but if not (no file found) I want to stop the upload and do nothing (now the infopackage load stays in red like an error load) but I don't know the way to do it...
    (maybe with sy-subrc??)
         v_file = '/usr/sap/.../ZZ.CSV'.
            CALL FUNCTION 'DX_FILE_EXISTENCE_CHECK'
            EXPORTING
            FILENAME = v_file
            PC = ''
            SERVER = ''
            IMPORTING
            FILE_EXISTS = v_file_exists.
            if v_file_exists ='X'.
            p_filename ='/usr/sap/.../ZZ.CSV'.
            else.
         ???????????????????????????  What to do?????
            endif.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Marcel,
    Since you are already executing the info package it will always turn red if there is no file found to be uploaded.
    In that case you can upload a blank file onto the server, if the file is not found then update the infopackage path by the path of the blank file. This will ensure that the info package is always completed causing no impact on the data.
    Another way of doing the same will be using a program, where in you can check the existence of the file. If file is found then update the package and trigger the load, else do nothing. This will also help in stopping the infopackage from turning red. Here in you can use BAPI BAPI_IPAK_CHANGE to update info package and function RSPC_API_CHAIN_START to trigger process chain.
    regards,
    Shyam.

  • Annoying extraneous files when opening Powerpoint file

    Hi, This must be simple but I can't find it anywhere in the forum. As long as I've used Keynote, whenever I open Powerpoint files within Keynote, I generate a bunch of files on the main hard drive folder with names such as "~AUT00060". These appear to be non-essential files involved in converting Powerpoint, but is it safe to delete them? Each is only about 120 kb...
