Uploading a specialized PDF print setting

A computer in our office was recently upgraded to Windows 7.  The computer has Adobe Arobat 9.0 standard.  In the previous un-upgraded computer in Acrobat a specialized print setting file had been uploaded and saved in the Adobe PDF/settings folder which allowed a specialized print setting option to be inlcuded in the print drop down menu.  (It was created as a file, so that numerous people could copy it to their computers without having to know and create all the print settings at each individiual computer in the office.).
However, saving the specialized print setting file in the same (supposedly) Adobe PDF/settings folder, did not have the same effect.  We have tried saving the specialized print setting file to the the Adobe PDF/ folder and no luck.
Does anyone use specialized print settings, and know how we can get the file containing the specialized print setting to be recognized.

You have to open Distiller and register the new job settings file there. Also, if you only have AA9.0, it would probably be a good idea to update -- currently at AA9.3.4. If you have not registered your copy of AA with Adobe, now might be a good time to do that.

  • How can i prevent modifing the  itemes in Adobe PDF Printer Setting?

    Hi,
I have installed an Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.1.0 in windows xp.In print dialog, push the Property button,it will appear a dialog of Adobe PDF Setting, one of the setting itemes is "View the Adobe PDF Results",it can be set to view or not view the new created PDF file. I want hold the default setting and prevent modifing it,How can i do? can it be realized by javascript program? Thanks a lot!

    Hi,Test Screen Name
Because HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\Ad obe PDF\ is the dir where to set the property of Adobe PDF printer when windows load it , this is experience, no documentation(or i don't find) , perhaps there will be other registry itemes which does not list in that dir ,but i don't know , that is why i think it just like what you have said ' It looks very like a "discovery" rather than a policy ' . For this reason , i want to realize it by adobe acrobat SDK programming ,but now  the second way is impossible. Thank you again !

  • Pdf print seting dose not show when closing a pdf file in illustrator.

my illustartor dose not show pdf preset when closing a pdf file.
    what can i do?

I don't understand where a pdf print setting would show up when CLOSING a file. What are you trying to do? To make a PDF from Illustraor, use SAVE AS. No other method is recommended or tested.

  • Remove Add Document Information in PDF Printer

We are using Adobe Acrobat Standard X.  We used the Adobe Customization Wizard to create a custom setup to use for the rollout.  One of the setting we changed was the “Add Document Information” setting in the Adobe PDF printer setting.  We do not want metadata to be included in the file.  This has worked great for over a year.  When we installed the Adobe update 10.1.8 is was changed by the update to add the information back into the file.  We are looking for a way to change the setting back on several hundred PCs without having to visit each one and uncheck the box in the printer setting.  A registry setting would be great.

I have removed Adobe X on a several test machines.  I reinstalled using our custom setup with the "Add Document Information" unselected.  I can install update 10.1.9 with no problem.  If I do the custom install and then install the 10.1.8 update I get mixed results with some machines turning the "Add Document Information" back on.
Any ideas to turn this off would be helpful.  Uninstalling and reinstalling is not a solution due to the number of computers.

  • How can I set 'Adobe PDF printer' as one of my printer choices?

I've given it half an hour. Can't seem to figure out how I can set 'Adobe PDF printer' as one of my printer options. I'm not sure if I need to download an Adobe file, and what folder I might need to place it in, and if I also need to add a specific driver.
I'm trying to create a PDF file that printers and outfits like www.lulu.com will accept. Printing an MS Word document via 'Adobe PDF printer' will allow me, I'm told, to produce a suitable PDF file.
Ideally I'm producing the original document in Pages - but I've been told by printers and lulu.com et. al. that no one out there likes PDF's produced by Pages ("not professional").
Any suggestions you might have would be most appreciated...

I downloaded the Lulu Adobe PDF joboptions file ... but it didn't come with any instructions on how to install or use it. I just have the file. I opened it with a double click and got Adobe Distiller - and I can 'see' what the settings are, but I'd love to understand how to install it so it becomes a selection when I export from Pages.
Forget the Lulu instruction about double click to install. Quit Acobat Distiller and Acrobat Pro. Move the Lulu joboptions file to the Adobe PDF Settings folder. The path to it is:
    HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe PDF/Settings/
    or
    HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings/
You're in the right folder when you see other joboptions files already in the Settings folder.
Next, launch Pages and open your document.
From the File menu, select Page Setup. In that window, select Adobe PDF 7 for "Format for," choose your paper size, orientation and scale % and click OK.
From the File menu, select Print
In the Print window, be sure the Printer is Adobe PDF 7
Click on Layout for a pop down list and select PDF Options
To the right of "Adobe PDF Settings" click for a pop up list and select Lulu
    Click Print

  • How to set default PDF print locations to be same as source file

Is it possible to make the "Save to" location for files created using the Adobe PDF print driver to be the same location as the source file?
When I checked the prefs dialog box in the Adobe PDF print driver, the only setting I found was to make "PDF Output Folder" either the "My Documents" folder or "Prompt for PDF File Name." I wish there were a third option that said "Same as source file."
    -Danny

Hi Daniel,<br /><br />Yes, it is possible to do so.<br /><br />Here is the solution:<br /><br />1) Open the PDF.<br />2) File->Print<br />3) Click the Properties button available on Print Dialog Box.<br />4) Select the Adobe PDF Settings Tab and you will find static text "Adobe PDF Output Folder", Go for "Browse" button available against that and select your preferred location.<br />5) Now the drop down menu will display all the options i.e. "My Documents" , "Prompt for PDF File Name" and "<Your selected Option>".<br /><br />I hope this will help resolve your issue.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Atul Agarwal<br />Adobe Systems

  • Is there a setting to make a PDF print with no background and black text?

I made a nice booklet that has colorful blocks in the background and sometimes white text and sometimes black text. We are not going to print it, it is just going to be a PDF on our website. Can I set it up so that it always prints without the backgrounds and makes all the text black?
I just don't want people to have to print huge fields of colr if they end up printing this out on a little ink jet with expensive and finicky cartridges...
    BT

There are is no as such specified setting for customer or reader printer, because it depends on the printer setting of customer. However, you can mentioned that, if any one want to print book as black text, follow this setting http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/print-black-white-acrobat-reader.html

  • Problems with special characters with XML/PDF printing

    Hi,
    Our setup:

    Various recent major browsers
We used this blog post so we could do some PDF printing with APEX Listener:

The problem is special characters. For example the "&" sign comes out as "%26amp;" when we export an XML.
Could anyone provide some insights of what we can do to fix this?

  • Setting up a virtual PDF printer in MacOS

On my previous Mac (System 10.4), I had set up a virtual PDF printer called Adobe PDF 3016.102. I had Creative Suite installed at the time, but I'm not sure if that's relevant. I can't remember how I installed that virtual printer.
Now I have two newer Macs, one on Mavericks and one on Yosemite. I have Creative Cloud 2014 on both computers. Is there a way to install a virtual printer equivalent to the Adobe PDF 3016.102 virtual printer on these computers?
I found this virtual printer particularly useful for exporting full bleed PDFs from Microsoft Word. The option called 'Adobe PDF' in the Print dialogue box of Mavericks and Yosemite does not seem to produce full-bleed PDFs from Microsoft Word.
By the way, is there is another way to produce full bleed PDFs from Microsoft Word? That would at least solve my Microsoft problem, but I would also like to install the virtual printer, because it has worked well with all programs, not just Office.
    Thanks in anticipation.

Thank you Test Screen Name for the link to the article 'Can't print PDFs | Mac OS X 10.6 and later'. I don't think this helps me with my problem. This is the scenario I'm struggling with: When I try to export a Microsoft Word document, I can select 'Save as Adobe PDF' from the PDF dropdown in the lower left of the Print dialogue box. However, at the top of the Print dialogue box, the only option I have available currently is Fuji Xerox Docuprint C3210, which is the only printer I have installed. My understanding is that Word always queries the printer driver for the size of it's non-printing margins. Consequently, it does not send print data for the margin zones to the PDF and I lose the full bleed. This is why I want to install a virtual PDF printer - because it would not have non-printing margins, and then Save as Adobe PDF would work correctly re the bleed.
If this is not possible, is there another workaround?
    Thanks
    Robert

  • Setting pdf printer settings use framemaker FDK

I am trying to create a framemaker client that will save a book as a pdf file. This client will do all the steps automatically and will be activated nightly on a build server.
My problem is that when I use the command F_ApiSave() with the arguments set so that the file will be correctly saved, I get an error in framemaker that says I must set the PDF printer property: "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." to off. This option is already set to off by default, but my client must be changing it to on.
Is there any way to change this option using the Framemaker API in C on windows?

gmuresan, if you haven't yet posted on the FrameDev list, you might find more FDK information there:

I have Mac OS 10.8.5 and Acrobat X 10.1.9. how do I set up as PDF printer?

during installation of acrobat a virtual pdf printer is installed.
when printing you should see an option to print to a pdf file.  if you don't, reinstall.
you might need to uninstall, clean your system and then reinstall, http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

  • How can I prevent Adobe PDF printer being set as default on first logon on a computer?

    Hi all,
When a computer with either Adobe Acrobat X Pro or Adobe CS6 installed and a user logs on a computer for the first time the computer processes GPO's which define which print queues they are to use.
Unfortunately, once this is done, Adobe PDF Printer configuration kicks off, setting the Adobe PDF Printer as default. This is remedied by logging out and logging back in again, but this is annoying for the users (to say the least).
Since a lot of the users rarely use the same computer on a day to day basis, this is a common occurrence, and I would like to know how I can prevent the Adobe PDF printer from setting itself as default upon configuration.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

    Hi Cato-L,
Are you trying to do on single machine or multiple machines.
Have you got any solution yet.

  • Print setting changes from Excel to pdf

I am creating a pdf file from Excel.  When I produce the pdf file, the pdf does not retain the print settings as Excel.  When I open the pdf, it has changed to portrait.  I have hundreds of files that will need to be changed so just changing the print setting on each file is not an option.

    Hi Francois
I do not know transaction EFRM, but I know that to create a print form with SAP Interactive Forms (perhapos you are using a different forms tool?) you need to work in transaction SFP, where you manually migrate the form.
A couple of comments on migrating from Smart Forms to Interactive Forms.
How to do it is documented in the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/16/a369b1800e4bdda978ee0fe3b7bd2c/frameset.htm">SAP Help Portal</a>.
There is a migration wizard that assists you in migrating. It comes with recommended settings for those elements of a Smart Forms that migrate well (ABAP program nodes, for example, are not supported in the Adobe-based solution). See the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/3b/bb186ddb4441a7875a11d46ea6580d/content.htm">Notes</a>.
SAP-internal experience over the last three years has shown that in most cases migrating a Smart Form and then reworking the migrated form (which is usually necessary) takes more time and effort than analyzing the form carefully and then creating it from scratch in SFP. This is particularly the case when several business forms are in one Smart Form and output based on conditions. It is recommended to have one form template per business form.
