Uploading a Website to a specific URL

Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible, after having creted a web-site with iWeb, to upload it directly to a specific internet provider, by-passing the address provided as default by .MAC?
If so, where can I tell the program that the remote site has changed and not to use the default site any more?

Uploading i-web sites to specific url

I have created two websites using i-web. I have tested on 60 day trail account with .mac & they look great. I want to upload to specific urls. Have separated the domain files into two. Have Cyber Duck as ftp server. But how do I ACTUALLY upload? I have tried by dragging the domain file to Cyber Duck but it doesn't work. Can anyone let me know the procedure of doing it properly so that it works?

If you have set up your dotMac account details in the System Preferences, then in iWeb you can publish your Site(s) to dotMac.

No need for Cyberduck which isn't a FTP Server but an application to upload files to such server.
dotMac does not support FTP, so Cyberduck is irrelevant.
Your domain file is where iWeb stores the info when you edit your Site(s). You keep that file on your computer. It has no use outside iWeb.
If you do not continue your dotMac account after the trial period, you have to publish your Site(s) to a folder and then use Cyberduck to transfer the Site(s) to your FTP server.
Once published to a folder it is not an iWeb issue anymore. You can even edit the published pages in a HTML Editor of your choice.
You can also publish your Site(s) to the Sites folder in your Home directory and serve them with Personal Webserver.
It great for testing pages, before you make them public.

I have been putting in a URL and yahoo snags it parses it to several words then gives me a search page... I use Google for search andf I want to go to the specific URL I entered... How do I block Yahoo from doing this crap?

I use google for my search engine. I do not have any reference to Yahoo in my plugins or extensions on Firefox. Every time I enter a specific URL in the Firefox box, Yahoo comes up, has the full URL I entered to go directly to. It has the URL in the Yahoo search entry field and it parses the name to several words that make up the entire URL. Asks me if I only want the name I entered and lists every site that contains the words it parses... Yahoo is really screw up if it hijacks the browser. How do I prevent them from doing this...

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Hyperlink from MY website to a specific area on EXTERNAL website

i was hoping to use an HTML snippet to accomplish this on iWeb. i've spent several hours on google, and this forum too but found NOBODY addressing this:
i need to create a hyperlink from MY website to an external url. the external page needs to open at a very specific area on the page. i see that this is done on hand-coded websites.
most iWeb discussions were about hyperlinking to lower down on the same page or within the same website where 'anchors' can be used. obviously that can't be done when linking to an external website.

Linking Galleries for upload to website

I have the demo download of LR1.2 and would like to use the default flash gallery(scroll pane on left with clickable thumbnails; click thumbnail for larger image on right side of page) to upload to my site.
If this is possible, how would I link 5 or 6 of these galleries together? Purchasing the application is not a problem.
If linking and uploading from LR 1.2 isn't possible, where could I find/purchase the coding for a similar template? I tried figuring out how to do this on The Turning Gate site---complete debacle! I'm looking for something drag-and-drop or with step by step instructions for someone who is almost totally web coding challenged.

I have Lightroom 1.3 and want to do the same as the original poster.
It seems crazy that there is not a simple way of linking web galleries to a Home Page, etc & other galleries.I am clear that Lightroom is not a website design package, but what serious amateur or professional photographer would want just one gallery completely unlinked to anything.
Given its not a web design package, what is needed is simple instructions on how to embed a gallery into a basic website.
Can I assume if you upload a gallery to a specific folder (therefore as many galeries as you like to individual folders) you can change the index.htm file for each gallery to another name & link to it from other web pages in your site?
If this is the case, apart from hitting the Back button (very amateur), how do you navigate back to your home page or index page?

How do I upload a website one portion at a time?

Hi, I have a huge website (about 250 30+ minute podcasts is what makes it huge) that i am trying to upload to my new server because of the upcoming demise of mobile me, and i'm having a problem. i just spent almost 3 days uploading, then got an error message. grrrr. my question-- is there any way to upload this website in smaller chunks? my preference would be to load all of my pages except for the podcast page first, then load the podcast page w/ about 10 podcasts, then keep loading about 10 at a time until i'm done. is that possible?

Nobody can tell you anything without knowing exact site and server specs, but I would suspect that naming the folder "html" wasn't the brightest of ideas, since that's usually a default (invisible) folder name existing somewhere on the server and the user not having privileges to overwrite it.

How do I upload a website created with Muse using FileZilla?

Hi,
I created a website using Muse. Everytime I try to upload the website through Muse, the uploading crashes. The assets folder contains many large pdf files, so I think that is part of the problem. I was able to upload the large pdf for the Muse website using FileZilla. So, my question is: How can I upload the necessary files created with Muse (html, scripts, etc...) using FileZilla? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
Please use the option of Export as HTML in Muse and then try to Upload it to hosting server using filezilla.
You can find this option in File > Export as HTML.

SPO/O365 public websites are SHAREPOINT sites... they are NOT just a blank slate to put whatever files you want into an IIS site.

how do I make documents, xlsx, pdf, or docx available for upload to websites? I only get to choose from pictures when using ipad to access web. Is there an app? I have icloud and skydrive and some apps to edit documents.

Safari does not handle documeny uploads, with the exception of images. You will need an alternate browser - I recommend iCab Mobile - with the following characteristics:
Document storage
Ability to change the browser ID (some site servers restrict upload functions when accessed by a mobile browser; iCab allows you to set the browser ID to a non mobile browser).
I've had pretty consistant success with icab under thee conditions. Its is likley not the only one available that can handle this, however.

Thanks. Actually, I posted my query because I haven't been able to make Parental Controls in OS X do what I want. I've been trying that tool for a while. It seems that there are sort of three options:
1. Allow everything with no exceptions
2. Block sites that fail an automated filter for "adult" content, and then add back allowable sites.
3. Block everything, and then add a white list of allowed sites
In my case, option 2 doesn't work, because frankly, I don't care if my kids choose to look at content that somebody has evaluated as "adult." Generally, the web log says that they don't, and if that does become an issue, then I will deal with it when it arises.
What I want to be able to do is the direct opposite of option 3 listed above: Allow everything except an admin-specified black list defined per user, and be able to modify that list from time to time when I have a specific issue with a specific user.
I just want to be able - from time to time, like when I know they are behind on school work - to be able block a short list of "innocuous" persistent time-sucking sites as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter etc., even though there is not necessarily any objection content per se on the sites I want to block for that specific user (the "user-specific, admin-defined blacklist").   It is the lost (mis-allocated) time, not the risk of loose morals that concerns me.
Network-level solutions exist, but these do not allow me to discriminate among user accounts as far as I can tell. If anybody knows of a good solution that works in OS X across various platforms - freeware or commercial - I will appreciate a lead.   Or, if there is a hack that will allow me to accomplish this in Parental Controls, I would appreciate a pointer in that direction, as well.
