Uploading Aperture 3 photos to Skydrive.

I have tried to upload files from Aperture 3 to Skydrive. Although the files upload, they appear as just files and not as photos or a photo collage.  Anyone know what I might be doing wrong?  I am using the Firefox browser.  Thanks,  tina

There is no way for anyone to know what went wrong if we don't know what you did.
Describe your setup hardware and software, what you try to do what you expected to happen and what did happen and someone might be able to help.

  • Is there a plug in for direct upload of photos to Picasa?

is there a plug in for uploading aperture photos to Picasa web albums?

There used to be a plug-in, but it has been discontinued - it is still available for download at mirror sites (by Softpedia: http://mac.softpedia.com/progDownload/Aperture-Picasa-Plugin-Download-50358.html ), but since it is a 32-bit version, it is not compatible with Aperture 3.3; the new Aperture version is 64-bit only.

When I try to upload multiple photos to a few online printing websites, the Media tab under devices isn't there. Also, the aperture and iphoto are under photos in the sidebar but I can't access any sub-folders or photos at all. Please help!!

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...
    vs
using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?

  • Raw files in aperture photo books

    Hi,
I'm creating my first aperture photo book. I uploaded raw files to aperture, made adjustments, and then placed the versions into the book. It is these versions (with all crops, adjustments, etc.) that will show up in my photo book, correct? (That's what it looks like when I preview the book, but I just want to make sure I didn't need to convert them to jpeg or anything before I spend over $100 on this book!)
    Thanks!

When you create a version in Aperture it automatically creates a jpeg, so you don't have to do anything else. It is all automatic.

  • Raw files uploaded to photo stream not showing on devices

I have Aperture set to automatically upload all the photos I import from my Canon 50D. In the past month the photos in RAW format, have not been showing up in my photo stream. When I look in ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub I can see all the CR2 files and I can see Aperture uploading in the activity window, but nothing is showing elsewhere. The only exception is my iPad that has some from two weeks ago, but the none of the raw files from yesterday are appearing on any device or iCloud.com. I can see jpg taken via iOS but not RAWs.
Any ideas? Has the OS X 10.10.1 or iOS 8.1.1 changed something, is there a new check box. Just slightly (very confused)
    Thanks for any help.

    Justin,
can it be, that you activated iCloud Photo Library (Beta) on your iOS 8 devices? That essentially disables all easy ways to upload photos from your Mac to iOS devices. My Photo stream will stream from iOS devices to other devices and your Mac, but the Mac will no longer stream to the other devices. and iTunes Photo sync will no longer sync photos to the iOS devices. If you enabled iCloud Photo Library (Beta), either disable it again in "Settings > Photos"on your iPhone/iPad, or use the page https://beta.icloud.com  and and the Photos.app on that page to upload your photos from the Mac to your mobile devices.

  • Can movies be uploaded in Photo Stream?

Can movies made on iPhone, iPad or any camera be uploaded to Photo Stream?
I took a move with iPhone and it did not upload. Then I pushed movie from iPhoto to Photo Stream and it did not upload.
    Thanks

    Sj,
Those are really red herrings all.  The storage issue is the same whether you sync the videos over a USB cable or OTA, nichts wahr?!?
And besides, Aperture is designed to have limitless library sizes; in fact, an Aperture library can span MULTIPLE physical drives, so your storage argument doesn't hold water.
Now your argument regarding the syncing from the compluter to the iOS device is a sound one, but Apple has already addresed it by only keeping the last 1000 photos synced in the photostream; they could have done something similar for videos.
Lastly, the 5G of storage only applies to your email, documents, and camera roll:
Your purchased music, apps, books, and TV shows, as well as your Photo Stream, don’t count against your free storage. Since your mail, documents, Camera Roll, account information, settings, and other app data don’t use as much space, you’ll find that 5GB goes a long way.
My real point and main question is why didn't apple at least give us the option of choosing to wirelessly sync our home-made videos like everything else.

  • IOS 7 is prevented from uploading to Photo Stream by some apps

I have found that some apps such as LINE and Facebook Camera prevent iOS 7 from uploading photoos to my Photo Stream.
    The phenominum is the followings:
    1. Take some photos by camera app of iPhone.
    2. Uploading the photos to LINE or Facebook by the apps.
    3. These photos won't appear in my Photo Stream.
I turned off the Photo Stream in Preference and then turned on it.
However, the photos never appeared in my Photo Stream.
I don't think I had experienced this phenominun until I updated to iOS 7.
I guess it might be a bug of iOS 7.

That's probably what I'm going to do as well, until either Apple gets its PhotoStream act (back?) together, or until I switch all to Loom. Since I use Aperture mainly for organizing my pics, and only occasionally edit Sony RAW files (hence no LightRoom), this kind of solution becomes increasingly probable – and attractive, too, since my Aperture library is by far the largest disk space user, even though I have all originals on an external SSD.
About the only thing I'd probably miss, is a native non-webbrowser photo app on OSX. On the other hand, I certainly will not miss Aperture's 1.5GB+ RAM usage, and all-too-frequent crashes under Maverick.

  • Aperture photo book vs iPhoto quality

Hi, will photo books printed from Aperture give me better quality than photo books from iPhoto 6? This will help me decide if I should buy Aperture or not.
Is it true that Aperture prints books at 300 dpi and iPHoto at 150 dpi?
Any advantages to printing photo books in Aperture (what does Aperture photo books do that iPhoto doesn't)?
    Thanks,

Recently I uploaded and had printed a hardbound book that had been designed within Aperture. Prior to this, I have used iPhoto to produce 10 such books starting back in 2002. I have always chosen the picture book format because it provided the largest images.
This time I used Aperture because it allows large images with small captions and a good deal or freedom of length and placement.I particularly appreciated the good snap placement between the pictures and other captions. The ease of producing 2 page spreads was impressive. The book ran 84 pages and the quality of the resulting was very good–on a par with my other Apple photo books.
On only one occasion have I had a problem with quality control of these books. In that case an a good high resolution image was pixelated. In that case, I was able to call Apple and speak to someone, who after hearing my description, asked me to send my copy back and issued a reprint order.
My only bit of consternation with this order is that I found no such contact information enclosed with the book.
Finally, I haven't seen any specific suggestions within this formum for third-party print houses that can produce good quality books. Just assertions that alternatives do exist. I would be willing to strip down the .pdf file of the book I have just created to some of the trickier images and see how these one of these print houses fare.
Here to an Aperture New Year!

  • Can a completed Aperture photo book be placed on a website for viewing by friends?  I already had several copies successfully printed by Apple.

Can a completed Aperture photo book be placed on a website for viewing by friends?  I already have several copies successsfully printed by Apple?  Thanks. Buzz22

There is no direct web publishing of a book, sorry. But as a work-around: You can print your book to pdf - select it in the book in the Inspecktor panel and use "Print book".  Then select the "PDF" buttun in the print panel and save a pdf file. Upload the pdf to a server for sharing (ftp, Drop box) and send your friends a link or place a link to the file on a webpage.

  • HT201317 I'd like to control what uploads to Photo Steam

I like having my iphone photos uploaded to Aperture but I don't want two hundred RAW files uploaded to Photo Stream every time I connect my SLR.  There doesn't seem any way to control what loads.  Any thoughts

I'm not a BT vision customer, but have been thinking about it, but IMO this is another "also ran" offering.
I have Sky at the moment (non HD, single box), but what's developing in our household is an increased use of streaming services - iplayer, 4od, 5, itv etc -- and of course you can add lovefilm, youtube albeit much less in volume.
    Why? Several reasons
     - We have more PCs/laptops/mobiles than TVs
     - Instant access, no recordings or planning!
     - Can watch anywhere in house
I was hoping BT vision might offer a "sky player" equivilient where ALL content offered through BT vision was available for streaming to PCs. Having a "single box" is getting IMO increasingly out of date.
The obvious answer would be to get a totally unlimited broadband connection - in truth I pretty much have that thanks to O2, but a long line @ 4+ Mbps means concurrent streaming is dodgy as is HD.
BT Infinity looks great, but even a 300Gb limit can be eaten up in a day, so I figured it might be worth paying an additional fee for the "curation" of the TV content as well as required additional bandwidth.
Sadly BT vision doesn't offer this -- so right now looks like a step backwards not forwards
Strikes me that a big caching server in the home could be in order so that when 3 different PCs stream the inbetweeners the data is only xferred once, AND additionally to mix local recordings into the mix.

  • Cannot browse/choose Aperture photos via Finder

I am constantly frustrated by trying to choose photos for various online apps (Google , Flickr, etc.) via Finder.  How can I choose photos easily via Finder from my Aperture projects?  Why oh why does Apple make this so difficult?
To recap: when using a program or an online service to upload/choose photos, you cannot "browse" the Aperture library via FInder.  It just sits there, apparently "locked" away.
This is one area where PCs are far and away superior to Macs.  Help me!
    Frank

Perhaps you need to study up on what Aperture actually is. It's not a file browser, it's a database. Like any database you simply need to use the tools provided to access the data.
That's the first - and most simple - part of the learning curve you need to grasp. The second is that if you use Aperture (or simiar apps, like iPhoto, or Lightroom) they become your "go-to" app for anything you need to do with your photos. They replace the Finder for accessing this data. So, anything you need to do, you do with or via Aperture.
This is one area where PCs are far and away superior to Macs.
Not really. On your PC you used folders and files to manage your Pics. You can do exactly the same on your Mac, but if you want to do that, why are you using Aperture?
The first one is the one you want:
There are many, many ways to access use your files in Aperture:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the Aperture Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the Aperture Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the Aperture Window to the desktop, there export will make a full-sized copy your Preview of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the Aperture Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.

  • How can I upload multiple photos without using an app?

I'm a special education teacher, and I teach a photography lab that teaches students how to scan and edit photos. We use the school's set of Ipad2's in order to crop the photos since the majority of students I have don't have the hand eye coordination neccisary to crop using a desktop computer and mouse. The problem I'm running into, however, is that our IT department wont let me download any apps onto the iPads. I've asked on six seperate occasions in order for them to update the iPads to ios7 and to give teachers the permission to install apps-- the first request coming at the start of the school year-- and they havent responded to any of them, so I'm not holding my breath.
Currently, I'm uploading all of the photos my students scan to my personal dropbox account, and the students access that and download each photo individually onto their ipads. Not the easiest thing for special education students to do, but its doable. I have not found an easy way to get the cropped photos off the ipads, however. Any ideas? I could attach each photo to an email, allthough thats more trouble than its worth most times. Dropbox will only allow me to upload one photo at a time, and keeps overwriting the photo I previously uploaded with the new one if I try to upload a second photo. Photo stream is the obvious answer, but icloud is disabled on all the ipads and only IT can turn it back on, something they've been unwiling to do

I worked in IT on the university level for four years so it's really frustrating to see more safeguards in place in a public school district any university. If we're trying to teach these kids to be ready for real life and then block out and don't let them use half the technology they're going to encounter in real life, well I just don't get that. But that's another rant for another time.
How I do it is I save all of the photos my students scan onto my external hard drive, then transfer them to my personal computer and upload them to dropbox using Dropbox for windows (or whatever the desktop application is called) . I then have my students go to dropbox.com on the iPad, login as me, and go through each photo, saving each to the iPad as they go.
I should have said upfront that when I try to connect the iPad to my personal computer it charges the iPad but won't recognize under my computer or show up in iTunes, so I am unable to see any of the data on it. I'm pretty sure it's not the 30 pin connector that's malfunctioning because I've tried with two of them. I can only check if it registers with iTunes on my personal computer because I can't download iTunes on school computers since I don't have administrator privileges

    Hi Friends,

I can also upload employee photo file located on my PC in background using a batch-input program.

    Hi ebi,
    1. if we use batch input program (running in background),
