Uploading calendar for printing

Hello, I'm having problems using the iLife '06 print service. First of all, I had to tash the app and reinstall from the DVD for iPhoto to even connect, and now, when it has prepared the calendar, it starts uploading, gets to 192ish kb and then says that there is a connection problem. I click on retry and the bar is complete saying that it has uploaded all 14.4 mb of the file, in no time at all!
Any ideas?

Hi Adam,
I had the same problem, only with me, iPhoto unexpectedly quit shortly after.
Reopening the application and reordering the calendar seems to be working (it's still uploading as I type)

The general rule is that the shipping address must be in the same country as the billing address of the credit card used to order. However, you can try changing the Print Products store in iPhoto's Advanced preference pane to Canada and try ordering again.

Error message when uploading book for printing. All images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large to upload? What size is required and how do I reduce size in Aperture?

I receive an error message when I upload my book for printing. Not sure what the problem is. All my images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large as it takes about 15minutes to upload to Apple. How do I reduce the size of the image in Aperture?

Error message below. The preview is fine . I can discount the first 2messages as its a new computer so plenty of disk space and upload doesn't seem to be interrupted. I have uploaded to iphoto before. have tried to upload 3times with the same error message. I had to photo my slides with a Kaiser Baas photo maker , which apparently doesn't scan but takes photos in megapixels of the slides. I am wondering now if the format is incompatible though they are jpg files or the colour type wrong. The image files are around 1-3 mb each and 72 ppi. I think I will now scan them properly with a scanner to 300dpi anyway to improve quality.
Apple talks about image files not being too big for uploading but gives no sizing of what too big is?
Error message
1. Upload Error. Loss of connection or file corruption during order upload may cause an incomplete order. Resubmitting your order usually resolves this issue.
2. Low Disk Space. If your computer is running on low disk space, your files may be assembled incorrectly. Create more space by deleting unused files.
3. Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results.

Problems uploading book for printing

Hi,
I am working on a slow connection speed overseas and have been getting continuously disconnected uploading my book to apple for printing in Canada. Does anyone know if it's possible to convert to .pdf and then upload? Or is there any other way to go about it? Thanks.

Thanks. Looks like I'm going to have to poach a fast connection speed from somewhere. I contacted apple through the link provided above and they have said the only way to do it is to upload it through iPhoto. Not particularly helpful.
I'm in South Africa and the Apple store here uses a third party for printing (at outrageous cost!). I'm wanting mine printed in Canada for a gift, which would have been easy without this connection problem. I'm surprised I can't at least mail a disc to someone somehwhere or email a .pdf file... I'm going to ask just to be sure. They respond quickly to these queries, which is great.

How do I organize the calendars for printing?

I would like to print this calendar with all the red items first and then the blue items next. How do I do it? It appears this way on the app, but in the print dialog it is mixed up. See picture:

I've just been playing with pagination myself after seeing a comment on a popular forum.
It seems that with Numbers 3, Apple has torn the guts out of printing options in Numbers. As the commenter on the other forum said,
The way things used to work is that you knew precisely where the pages would break so you could move your content to land precisely where you wanted it to land on a page. Every element could be centered on a page or justified to the top or bottom. Multi-page documents could be precisely /crafted/.
Now, one creates a freeform page and then goes into CMD-P to willy-nilly scale it. What is your font size? Are your elements still centered? For example, say I want a documented crafted that is exactly two pages wide and three tall. Good luck hitting those five page boundaries perfectly without lots of trial and error and a suboptimal final result.
I might have forgiven them if they allowed one to move elements on the print preview screen but they do not.
Numbers is now a lobotomized toy that abandoned all of its differentiating features.
I have to agree that Numbers 3 seems to have lost more than its gained with this "upgrade", certainly as far as printing goes.
I've found I can cut-and-paste sections of a spreadsheet over to a Pages document, but it's not as practical as simply formatting in Numbers and then printing. There is also no way to simply drag and drop a spreadsheet or sections of a spreadsheet into Pages from either a saved file or from Numbers itself.
I've sent one bit of feedback to Apple and I daresay that a lot of people will be posting unhappy feedback about this sudden lack of thought given to those who still need to print spreadsheets.

Aperture 3.4.5 cannot upload book for printing

i'm on MacOSX 10.7 so i cannot upgrade to aperture 3.5 or 3.6. still on 3.4.5 version.
i placed an order for a book, credit card has been charged, but uploading does not end.
checking network connectivity (with all close but aperture) shows no traffic on the network, while there are calls to "printservices.apple.com:http".
printservices.apple.com (17.149.182.20) does not gives me ping, but telnet on port 80 establishes a connection (get request redirects to www.apple.com).
the upload spinning icon is still spinning, when i pause the activity it stops, when i resume it starts to spin again and i see the "printservices.apple.com:http" request for a couple of seconds, but always just 100-200 bytes of network traffic and then nothing.
1) is print service still active?
2) is aperture 3.4.5 still supported for book printing?
3) how can i get back my money if the order does not complete?
4) is there something i can do to go further with my book printing?

UPDATE #2
After hard time with apple support (i did now know aperture was available for book printing on iphone too... isn't?) tey stated the credit card amount was just booked and not settled. I'll wait to see the release of the payment amount...
Tried again (trusting apple accounting system) to issue a book order: again amount booked on the card, upload started, network monitor activity over 200KB to 1MB. Look nice. After 2 hours upload done and confirmation ok (100 pages book).
so i can answer myself:
1) Print service is indeed still active
2) aperture 3.4.5 is still supported but, vintage Mac are not! A 2007 iMac is so old that Apple support does not know anymore how can you run 10.7 on them...
3) seems that the procedure is: place order, book amount, upload data, confirmation, settle amount. Booking should be released in 24/48 Hrs.
4) just retry for better luck ;-)

You can only make changes at the Google site after logging in to the host account. If you click on the Google button at the bottom of the calendar
you will be taken to your Google map where you can make the changes if you're already logged in to your Google account.

IPhoto upload error for printing. First two books successful. This one fails.

I have successfully developed two iPhoto books in the past, however, the third book goes through the entire process of uploading and then indicates 'error'. This book is 46 pages long which should not be a problem.
Any suggestions?

I actually began this process by creating a new calendar called "Medical" and then each event was assogned to this calendar but the program still wants to print out every day of the month for even those days that have no events. The list view gives me the look I want and I have even tried deselecting all of the options and then reselecting them one at a time to no avail.

This was an excellent suggestion previewing the book at

and then booting up the computer in safe mode. When I did this I found that several of the fonts had changed and would have ruined the book as they were too big or small or didn't fit the text boxes. I repeated this process until I was satisfied. The pdfs were fine.
Best of all the book was printed exactly as I laid it out.
Apple's turnaround was amazing: just over a week! Really good for getting a book to a small West Coast island in Canada.
Even though Apple's book production is very good it is limited in layouts for each style. BLURB offers a bigger range of layout options as well as a choice of printing papers which is a nice touch. I didn't use them this time because some posters had had delays in getting their books and I had to meet an birthday deadline.
Kudos to Apple for making the book in such a short time.

I created a magazine using a IDD template including bleeds. When I exported to make a PDF, it cut off part of the document when uploading for printing. When I incude bleeds, it makes the document too big for printing. I need help :)

Right, so to advise you we'd need to know the particulars of MagCloud's spec for your project; format, trim size, bleed, etc.
It's doubtful that anything happened "when uploading for printing," so long as you were uploading a PDF, as opposed to the native InDesign file. Did the PDF look right to you before uploading?
