Uploading changed pages AND images

Hi
this is probably possible, but cannot find a shortcut or
extension to do it. When I changed a web page, it frequently
involves changed an image or image property. The CNTRL/SHIFT U
saves and uploads the page, but does not include changed images?
The synchronise utility takes far too long on a large site to
upload changed files.
I am wondering if there is a shortcut, or way of adapting the
upload function to include ALL changed files on a webpage.
One long winded work around is to change the file display to
'modified' but images are in a separate directory to html files, so
that involves hunting through directories to uploaded modified
files.
Is there a way of displaying modified files, or a way of
modifiying code to that the put command includes images?

If your page is that graphically heavy, then you would have
other problems.
But, the good news is that if the timestamp on the local and
the remote
files are the same, then they are not uploaded. So, you are
not uploading
all of the images - only those that have been changed.

You can do that already, but not with quite that granularity.
From the
expanded site panel, use EDIT | Select Recently Modified
Files.
Unfortunately, your options are only by days.

hi ravi,
In Data Manager, table Images, Add a record.
Data Manager will display a dialogue box "Add Images". Here you can specify multiple image files to upload. Ensure the radio button "Store in Repository" is selected. Optionally, specify a Data group (to help organize your image file records in MDM - e.g., by supplier). Click OK - Data Manager will upload all your image files into MDM.
At this point, your image files reside on the MDM server, but are not associated with product records yet. I.e., you can view them in Images table, but not in Catalog Items table. On to the next step.
2. In Import Manager, connect to your source (e.g. Excel sheet with records), and import as normal. Note: in your source file, specify an image file name (e.g. "image.jpg") in the Image column against each product record for which an image file was uploaded earlier into MDM.
After the import is done, you'll be able to see the images in the Catalog Items table.
do the same for the pdf's also.
other wise in the data manager, load the images in the data groups, for there you can assign it to the records.

Changing pages and uploading pictures.

I am uploading my website to Godaddy. No .mobile me. I want members of my site to be able to upload pictures, change backgrounds, add music or videos. change the look of there page. I might be going out of my realm here, but if someone could guide me and than I will determine if I should go on. Also there would have to be a password for each user so no one can go to there page and make changes. Is there a service,templates or a generator that you can get where you can deign a page for users to modify?

No, now with iWeb. iWeb creates and edits the site locally and then uploads the changes to the server.
There may be some online site hosting services that let you do everything online where you might be able to do what you want. Everyone would have access to the account to make changes/additions. I'm not familiar with any.

What are Firefox's timeout for loading pages and images

On a website I'm developing I'm experiencing problems with images occasionally only partially loading. I'm trying to prove the problem is caused by my hosting company's server terminating resource requests prematurely . To this end, I created a test pages that has several very large images embedded. I navigate to the page and see how many images fully load.
However I need to ensure that Firefox is not influencing the test. I.e. firefox is not giving up on the images if they are taking too long to load.
So my questions are:
1) What are the various parameters that firefox uses to abandon downloads of images etc? And does it depend on the number of images on the pages, tabs open, number of domains simultaneously accessing, etc
2) Can I change the settings in about:config so firefox will wait a very long time for resources and only stop when the server stops sending stuff.
3) Does firefox log anything so I can tell if firefox has given up the server has given up. (I noticed for the bad images, Firebug says "Image corrupt or truncated")

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, maybe after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Best way to allow user to change text and image

Hi,
A friend wants to change his product images and pricing etc.,
on his static web pages.
At the moment each product is within a cell in a table and
the cell below is where the text for details and pricing is. This
is the only area he will need to be in. Each product and edtails in
each cell of a table on each page.
He does not know anything about web design, Dreamweaver etc.,
but wants to do update himself.
I would like to know the best way for me to go about this
using DW CS3. Maybe there is another script or program that will
allow this.

Changing resolution and image size doesn't change result on screen?

I'm using Photoshop CS3. I am trying to change the resolution of several images that will be printed in a newspaper. So the current images are 72 ppi and really huge -- for example 36 x 27 inches (document size), and when I change them to 300 ppi, the image sizes shrink to about 8 x 6 inches, as I expect. But the image I see on the screen doesn't change. So, for example, when I open up the image originally, it's at 33% and the entire image is visible. After I change the resolution, and the image size has changed accordingly, the image still appears the same and it remains at 33%. Shouldn't the image shrink on the screen since its size has shrunk? Or if it remains the same on the screen, shouldn't the percentage shift? I mean if the document size is now 8 x 6, it should be able to be displayed at 100% and not fill my whole screen... I'm so confused. Thanks...

The "Document Size" area of the Image Size dialog is just to indicate the size (in inches) that your document will be printed. The ppi adjustment has nothing to do with what is displayed on your monitor. Your monitor doesn't care anything about ppi. The monitor contains a certain number of pixels and after you change that ppi setting, the monitor will still have that same number of pixels.
As long as you leave the "Resample Image" box unchecked, your image size (Pixel Dimensions) will not change. You will see no change on your monitor. If you check the "Resample Image" box, then your image size (in pixels) will change.

Word - Pages and image in the header

Morning.
I've opened a Word file in Pages. The Word file contains in the header of the first page an image (corporate logo). In Pages 3.0.2 the image isn't adjusted on the right place but one line beneath.
The problem is: I can not select the image to cut and replace ist.
Do you know a way to grab the pic?

Welcome to Pages discussions.
Using Word for Mac 2004, I embedded a logo into the header. Then upon opening the Word document in Pages 3.0.2 I was able to move the logo out of the header onto the page and from the header completely delete the logo. The logo is a PNG file.
Could it be that logo is embedded or coded into the document from the sender? We had that in some of our documents were the corp. logo stayed in the document.
Let's hope others will have a better idea.

Dynamically Changing stylesheets and images of B2B application

Hello All,
We have a requirement to dynamically change the stylesheets and images of B2B application based on Country US or UK of the logged-in user.
On looking into B2B source code, we identified that stylesheets are defined in init-config.xml , ExtendedInitStyleHandler, BrowserType, ExtendedStyleManager, java classes are used.
Can anyone provide suggestions how this can be achieved?

What you are trying to achieve is not a simple task. It is better to put some thought and resources to build what yuo need. There is no out-of-the-box way to change the stylesheet dynamically.

No. But technically you can have your own tag with another parameter to specify the country and you can have custom logic to add the right stylesheet.
The class ExtendedInitStyleHandler initializes the application with the list of stylesheets defined in the init-config.xml and any extensions in the /xcm/customer/modification/initconfig.xml
It is the tag <isa:stylesheets/> that adds the stylesheet(s) to the JSP and class StyleSheetsTag uses ExtendedStyleManager
Try this out. Just prior to placing the tag <isa:stylesheets>, use the following class, methods and code in <% Java scriptlet %>
public class ExtendedStyleManager;
public static Iterator getStyles();
public static void clear(); and
public static void addStyleSheet(StyleSheet style);
1. read the current styles (getStyles()),
2. keep a copy of the safe,
3. Clear the list (clear()),
4. Add your country specific stylesheet();
5. Add rest of the styles you need from the saved list
6. <isa:stylesheets/>
It is possible to write a custom tag lib too with the above logic and a country - parameter and use the custom tag in place of the isa tag.

Firefox won't let most pages and images on common sites like photobucket

I use a Website everyday:
furry-paws.com
It won't load most images.
I also use:
photobucket.com
It refuses to load libraries and let me upload any photos.
It also wont load half of the pages I visit.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden "Menu Bar" temporarily.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
*Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
*If an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a check-mark then remove this check-mark to unblock images from this domain.
Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the permissions.default.image pref on the about:config page should be 1.
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

Pages and images take a few refresh hits to actually load

When using FireFox I have been experiencing load issues when coming to almost any website. What I have to do is refresh the page about two-five times before the page actually decides to load.
Favicons do not appear on certain sites and loading images is almost impossible. My system is a high preformace HP PC and other browsers handle these sites fine.
Any solutions or reasons for these issues would be great.

Hi, please could you help?
Using remote rollovers, I need to change an image and related
text (maybe in a text box) at the same time. Both events need to be
triggered by the same text link rather than an image.
Changing the image is no problem but I don't know if it is
possible to change related text or how to do it.
Any pointers would be very gratefully received.

IPhoto is changing resolution and image quality

I am currently and for the first time using iPhoto 6 to produce a book - a feature within the application. I have edited my images in Photoshop, some have not needed to be so they have simply been saved as either high-res JPGS or TIFFS. On importing them into iPhoto selected images are downsizing and stating that they are not big enough to print - this I know is not true as they are adequatley large enough for printing to A0 minimum at 300 dpi. There are also a select few that are changing in image quality - the colours are looking either bleached out or over-exposed and they have lost their original quality. When opening the exact files in Photoshop they are correctly exposed, perfect colours, sizes etc. If I am to try and 'retouch' them within iPhoto I can resume some of their quality but it seems through the transition into importing inot the application they are being corrupted.
Can anyone assist me as its driving me mad!!!

What is the color space of the photos in photoshop?
In iPhoto Preferences, Advanced, do you have it set to add ColorSync Profile?
BTW, the 72 ppi (pixels per inch) is irrelevant. iPhoto defaults to reporting 72 ppi because that is a typical screen resolution. What's important is the total pixel dimensions of the image, and whether that size gives you an adequate dpi (dots per inch) when printed at the designated print size. So, while the image looks great on-screen in photoshop, that doesn't mean that it will be adequate for printing in a book. But you are right - you shouldn't see a significant shift in color when importing into iPhoto.

Uploading Word Docs and Images to DB

Hi,
I am fairly new to JDBC, but I am tryign to use a fileselector so you can select a word document or an image to get uploaded into a DB. I understand that it needs to be saved as a blob but does anyone know a link to an example of doing this with java? I cannot find one.

You can store it as a blob or as a link and then save the file to the file system.
There are advantages to both.
There are many examples of using blobs in jdbc in this forum and elsewhere. google would turn some up.
