Uploading flash, how much is too large?

Hi, I am trying to create a web site suing adobe Dreamweaver and flash, for the first time.
I am trying to upload a webpage that contains swf.
When I check mu site I could only see a blank page with the webpage title at the top of the page.
When I contacted the webhosting company they say they can see the message that a newer version of adobe flash player is required.
From my computer I cannot even see the message.
The helpdesk person said there are possibly two reasons for it. Either there is a problem with the code in flash or it is too large.
The size of files I uploaded as follows:
HTML: 4KB
Scripts: 37 KB
(The size of swf is 29KB which I did not upload)
Are they too large to upload? If so, what is the maximum size of file can I upload on a webpage?
I know they are basic questions but I am trying to create website on my own.
I would appreciate some friendly advice.

If the html page is supposed to contain the Flash file, then you need to uploadc the Flash file (swf).  html pages are simply text files that define content.  If any of that content happens to be another file, such as an image or sound or swf file, then you need to also upload those files.

  • How Much is Too Much?

    Hi everyone,
I have recently been using my macpro more and more for high-def video work. I usually leave it on 24 hours a day as at night I set up a batch of files in compressor to run over night. Essentially, all my CPUs are maxed almost all the time. I am wondering if this could become a problem? I have read a little about average loads but don't fully understand what they mean. Mine are: 8.60, 7.58 and 7.42 and I am getting pretty high temps on my CPUs, power supplies and hard drives (about 44C, 54C and 39C average respectively). Am I pushing this thing too hard? How much is too much? Please see my system specs below.
    Thanks a lot!
    ~ Philip

Don't let the drives get to 70C! they can take 50C safely. Memory and graphics are more of a concern. The cpu will protect itself.
smcFanControl can insure that your fans stay above the default minimums, which is worth taking a look at (freeware).
Fluctuation in temps between extremes can stress a hard drive and memory.

  • How much can too many imports slow inititialization down?

How much can too many imports slow applet inititialization down?
I have seen our company's sorce code for some huge applets they have written. In many, many cases, the imports at the beginning of each file are written something like this...
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.border.*;
import javax.swing.event.*;Only certain portion of these imports are actually used. Does this sort of thing really impact the applets loading speed? I know it will obviously take at least a little longer but will the user even notice?

You are not actually importing the classes, but rather making the names of the classes available.

  • How much is too much music on itunes?

im uploading a lot of music onto my itunes, for two different ipods, and i dont know if i put too much music on if there will be a lag or anything
can someone please tell me how much music a computer can take before significantly slowing down?

As long as there's at least 1GB of space free on the hard disk at all times and the iTunes library isn't stored on the Finder's desktop, you shouldn't experience a major slowdown regardless of how big the iTunes library gets.

  • Flash site - swf file too large

    Hello,
I have created a website using Flash CS5 using AS2. The site was completely custom designed using Photoshop and in then imported into Flash. The site has all of the pages in the main timeline on different keyframes, so say frame 2 is home, and frame 3 is services, etc. This is a site for my design portfolio so I have probably 5 galleries that I have made, but they are very simple, one frame will have the first picture, the next frame will have the second picture and so on. I have gotten my site exactly how I want it and works how I want it... but in the end the .swf file when published, is over 9MB which I know is wayyyyyy too large for a flash site that works fast for everyone.
So how can I make this file size smaller. I am fairly new to this, although I had no problem getting my buttons to navigate with actionscript no problem, but my actionscript knowledge is very limited beyond that. I'm not sure where to go with this site to make the size smaller, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I can send someone the fla file to look at if needed.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
Maybe you can help me a little more.
I looked up some tutorials having to do with the AS2 xml galleries, and I found that almost all of them were for galleries with fancy scrolling options and slider bars, etc.
My galleries are very very basic, thumbs are layed out on the left, click one and the image appears on the right. I'm not the best at using the actionscript and knowing what to do with all of it. So some of the tutorials made sense about getting files to load dynamically, but I'm not sure what code to keep in for my gallery, and what code to take out that I dont need for all the fancy effects.
    my site is http://www.mrolfedesigns.com
as you can see, the galleries are pretty simple, I would like to keep them that way, and not have any complex scrolling or slider bars. Ive searched a lot into looking for some more simple tutorials, but am not finding any great ones that I can use.

  • NVidia PNY GeForce 6600 AGP Flashing Issue (ROM says too large for EEPROM)

Here's a puzzle for anyone willing to assist (I've heard japamac has a good history with this sort of thing so *fingers crossed*).
So, I got a Quicksilver Power Mac G4 recently for free (gotta love the university just throwing stuff away) and it was the 800Mhz Single Core model. I've recently acquired a Sonnet 1GHz upgrade cpu nib from a thrift shop for $7 and also got my hands on a free and working PNY 6600 AGP card (256mb). I had recalled the 6600 having the ability to flash a mac rom so I thought it would be a sure thing, especially after having done similar build-up for my old Dual 500 Gigabit Ethernet machine, instead opting for an ATI 9600 and a 1.8 sonnet proc which I then sold for $180 bundled with Leopard.
I followed this tutorial (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2645959?start=0&tstart=0) and downloaded the latest nvflash and the rom image hosted on the site. According to windows the rom file is 32kb, and when I opened up nvflash it stated the rom already installed was around 64kb. I followed all instructions to a t and even opted to erase the eeprom as was suggested after backing up stock.rom.
So far so good...however when I try to flash the nvmac.rom file, I keep getting some error about a PCI board id not matching (having to override w/ yes) shortly before getting an error message that states that the .rom image is too large for the eeprom. How is this possible?
The card in question is a PNY GeForce 6600 256MB DDR DVI-VGA-TV AGP Video Card G606600ABD25T+BC4BCA
Am I just SOL because it actually is too large, or am I missing something here? I've re-flashed the stock.rom back onto the card and all works well on the windows front, but I was really hoping to have a mac 6600 on the cheap...any suggestions?
If you need any specific info, just ask. Will try to respond asap. Other than the rom size error message, every other step of that tutorial works just fine.

Unless I am missing something, the 6600 ROMs on the Mac Elite site all (3) show a 128 KB size. The 6600 PNY is listed as 128, and a download and check of the file confirms it.
If your cards ROM is 64 KB, you will need to solder a new, larger chip on the board.
Did you download a 6200 ROM?

  • Flash CS3: Help panel too large to resize

    Hi!
    I feel quite stupid but...
for some reason my Help panel is too large, making it
impossible to scroll down to all the items.
    Here's a screenshot:
    http://tinyurl.com/2aycu4
When I open the Help Panel, e.g. by pressing F1 the grey
header bar is flush with the top of the screen - no way to drag it
higher up. The problem now is that the bottom of the panel is
somewhere well below of the lower edge of the screen - so there
seems to be no way to drag the lower corners of the panel in order
to make the panel smaller, small enough to fit the window. As it
is, it is impossible to scroll down to the lower parts of the Help
    panel.
Any help is very much appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Andreas Weber

Can't you resize from the top? In Windows you can usually
resize from any window edge. So, just move the window down then put
the mouse of the top edge until you get the resize arrows...
Or am I wrong I notice the help window is
    non-standard.

  • How much is too many?

    Have an iPad 16gb.
Curious - At what point and how many Apps does it take for the device to be affected and slow down?

    Ask 300 people, get 300 answers .....
I rarely have more than 4 or 5 apps in my recents tray at any one time. But you can bet your bottom dollar that my browser - and it doesn't matter which of the five that I have I am using at the time - will crash on me every day - day after day - 3 or 4 times a day. I seem to have particularly bad luck with the iPad internet experience. When I use the Mercury browser - and it has done this since day one - I constantly get the low memory warning - even if I have closed all apps and have just restarted the iPad.
That's kind of a bummer for me because my iPad has become more of an mobile internet toy and email reader than a work machine. That's OK - I had no problem spending the money and taking the chance to see what I would get out of it because I wasn't quite sure what I would be using it for but I knew I really wanted one.
There really is a point to this and it is that no one has any way of knowing for certain how many is too many. As I have told you - I can run one solitary app and crash with great frequency. It's just something that only you can find out on your own as you continue to use the device.

  • How much is too little?

    Hi all --
I'm about to purchase a mac pro to edit a full-length film (appx 20 hours raw miniDV footage) and was curious about your recommendation for minimum RAM. I was planning to go with 2 gig because $800 is such a huge bump to go to 4 gig; would I be shooting myself in the foot if I went with 2 gig?
Also, any other configuration suggestions (i.e., video card)? I'll be doing requisite color adjustment and such, but no crazy VFX or anything. I'm looking at using my existing flat screen for a bin monitor and buying a second display (20" Apple) for the viewer window. And I bought a 400g Seagate drive to install.
    Thanks for your help!!
    -- sean
p.s. as you'll note, I'm currently using a 667 mhz machine (my last project was a short video), so my Mac performance expectations are fairly low...

    Any other thoughts?
Yeah… go RAID. You'll find that you'll get your best bang for your buck with smaller drives like 250/300GB sizes. I went with 300GB drives as the price/GB is much better than larger sizes. While The hatter suggests doubling your expected usage, for video I'd look at having more than that. Around 1TB (which was my original suggestion - so you can alternatively use 3 x 300GB drives) should give you decent elbow room and far better performance than a single drive.

  • How much is too much to wait for the computer to work

I need some help and ideas on this one since I am about to throw out every Apple product I have out the window.
Let me try and keep it short:
got my iMac end of June
    it crashes mid September
took it to authorized service, told it will be fixed in two days, took them 35 days
since I got it back it was always crashing and not working properly even though they said they replaced the hard drive and logic board and that that was the original problem with it
about 20 days later when I saw there are too many problems with it to me something minor (internal mic never worked since I got it back from service, crashing all the time, iMovies won't open because of some mess in iPhoto library, etc)
Apple sent on site repair, the guy replaced 7 parts in the computer!
7-10 days later, the computer shuts down in the middle of the movie and won't turn back on.
Before sending on site repair guy, the senior adviser told me that if the repair doesn't get my computer to stay working, I will get my computer replaced. After the computer died this last time, I called him and can not get him to call me back. I actually called him twice this week, in his work hours and didn't get a call back. So I guess all their "I am so sorry for the inconvenience, we will get to the bottom of this and get your computer working or replace it" is just bs they tell you to get you off the phone??
Now the new senior ad. says I will get replacement if this repair doesn't work. Also was told I will get a call back from repair service in 24 hrs, which didn't happen. So here we go again! I even called the very first sen. ad. I got the number from - yes, you can guess, never heard back from her either.
I have a list of 4 or 5 senior advisers that all tell me to call them if something we agreed on doesn't work, but I never can get to them nor do I get call backs.
So out of the 5+ months I had the computer so far, it worked as much as it was broken. Now with holidays coming, who knows how long will I have to wait.
This is really frustrating, to be told they will fix it or replace it yet I keep having to deal with not having a working computer.
Is there anyone that is above the people that keep giving me their numbers without actually following up that I can contact and find out when can I get a working computer that doesn't have parts breaking down every week!!?!??!??!?

It's been almost more than a month since nokia released it,,, and it was supposed to be a worlwide release on oct 24th,,,, i don't feel like waiting for christmas nokia,,,,, we want the symbian belle preferably before the end of november at least..
Belle firstly has not been released.
secondly Belle will not be released for existing symbian ^3 or symbian anna phones till after the whole world has Anna, to which Canada and Australia and some other places still do not have.
And lastly Nokia do not do world wide releases, they are released based on carrier approval.
So when it is released it will be given to the carriers first for testing then once approved it will then be released to the public. If it is not approved due to errors it will be taken back and fixed, then resubmitted for testing and so on until it is approved. However if the carrier just says no they dont want it released, then Nokia will not release it at all to any customers that are on that carrier.
So just like Anna, you will have to wait till it is ready and testing has been completed and the carriers give the approval.
Skyee has confirmed that Belle will not be released until after the Anna roll out is completed.
    Please be patient

  • Neo4-How much is too much?

    I have a k8n neo4,athlon64 3500+ clawhammer,2x512 corsair VS pc3200.
I have been reading about oc'ing for a while. Finally got the nerve to try.
I am currently at 230MHz FSB without a hitch.I did set the HTT to 4x to avoid the 1100MHz cap mentioned.
    CPU temps are still 38C-40C.
Am I shortening the life span of my components by doing this?
What FSB will the corsair value select ram start to crap out?
    Thanks
    BTW this thing is flying

oc does shorten lifespan of components. howmuch is anybody's guess but i read somewhere that it could take off upto 5 years.
as for ur ram, the only way is to oc ur ram and see how far it goes. the easiest way to do this is to drop the cpu multiplier to something like 6, raise fsb and probably vmem as well.

  • Managing projects or how much is too much? 40Gb+ library and growing

Hi all Aperture users. First let me tell that I'm quite happy with 1.0, 1.5 and new 2.0 versions.
One question still bugs me. How big Aperture library can be, is there a limit. My library now is 40Gb, I've started using referenced images when it was 10, but with every time I plug my card in, and import images to my Library, it becomes bigger and bigger.
Backing up those files is not a big issue. My referenced files have 4 copies (2 copies on DVDs, one in DMG file on computer and DMG file backed up with Time Machine). Same goes to my Library, Time Machine takes care of that, and every now and then I open Aperture.library package and manually drag and burn those projects and folders.
    Here's a question:
With library file constantly growing, is there a limit on the size or is it just the size of my HD? Every time I add Gbs to my library, I notice Aperture performance decreases. What is the size of you Aperture library?
And the main thing is, would Apple ever consider changing Vaulting feature in Aperture so you 'extract' project or folder of projects completely out of the library, back it up somewhere and load it back when you need it without replacing whole library? There is a way of doing it manually, Show Package Contents, remove folders, project files, burn them and rebuild library next time Aperture loads. But it's not really 'Apple way', it's not cool nor pretty.
    What's your take on this?

"if it sounds good it is good"
I do not disagree with what has been said but personally I do not use this above statement as the "final say" in my work. By definition it is only as true as your monitoring - and your ears! Your ears can get tired and mislead you. What sounds great in the studio can be a nasty surprise elsewhere (or just the following morning!). You obviously cannot eq anything without listening and your ears obviously lead what you do with a mix.
All I'm saying is that as you get experienced you will also do what seems right to your head as well as to your ears. If I have to eq a vocal by 15dB I know it will likely sound "eq'd" and unnatural. That might be what I want. that might be what "sounds good" but if I'm trying to achieve a natural sound I might wonder why I need to apply such gain and consider alternative solutions.
I think the fact you have asked this question demonstrates you are on the right lines with how you are working. I'm an advocate of cautious eq. never twiddle knobs (virtual or otherwise) randomly until "it sounds good". Sit back, listen, think about what you need to do and then try it.
Don't forget about cutting as well as boosting. Indeed most folk find that reducing frequency bands rather than boosting tends towards a more natural result - so if you want something to have more "middle" pull back the "top" and "bottom".
If I'm struggling with a mix it is nearly always due to bad or excessive eq. It is rarely the other way round.

  • How much is too much heat?

I just got my Macbook last week and have seen the issues with the operating temps. I installed the CoreDuoTemp utility today and have noticed that my notebook is running around 122 degrees (F) while it is in use. Slighly lower when it is sitting idle. This is on a flat desk surface. I dont really hear my fan running at any time either. Should I be concerned with this level of heat or isit somewhat normal.?

I've heard these new MacBooks are getting pretty hot, though I don't know how normal that is. I used a Powerbook G4 titanium for years and it got pretty hot as well... don't know if the new MacBook's get just as hot or hotter since I haven't used one. On another note, seem even PC laptops get hot as well though, my ex had a Compaq laptop and that thing got hot enough to cook an egg on underneath. Sooo... I think for the most part, this scenerio is normal, especially with laptops...
And "ovenbook" ... like that term!
