Uploading from Aperture to Facebook

I'm trying to upload some photos from Aperture to Facebook and I'm not having any luck.
I select my photos
I click on the facebook button
I enter my email and my password and I accept the terms
I click on Login and I get:
An unknown error occurred.  Please try again later.
I installed Sean Farley's facebook exporter plug-in and I still get the same failure.  I also tried disabling secure browsing on facebook and that also had no effect.
Has anyone else run into this?  I'm guessing this has to do with facebook's continuous changes to their privacy and security mechanisms.
Thanks!
Luis

  • Uploading from PSE10 to Facebook

I've been unable to upload from PSE10 to Facebook and have been getting an error message to say that I need to check that my firewall settings are not preventing access and that I'm connected the internet. I've checked both of these and checked that there are no proxies running. I've also reset the accounts, cleared online service data and restored the default settings under edit>preferences>adobe partner services. The photos were shot in raw but I've uploaded in this format using the same cards and camera a number of times before with no issues.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I am having the same problem.  I used to be able to, now all of a sudden, I can't anymore.  I haven't changed any settings on my computer or the Photoshop Elements.  How and why is this happening?  I don't understand.  I have an internet connection at all times, and the firewall is set to allow this program.  So, why did it stop all of a sudden???

  • I used to send pictures from Aperture to Facebook, now it's giving me this error

"An unknown error occurred. Please try again later."  What does that even mean?!  No error code, I've tried deleting my account and reentering it.  I know I have Internet connection and I was able to send photos just last week.  What's the deal?

When does this error occur? When you ctrl-click images in Aperure's Browser and use the command "Share > Facebook"? Or when you try to open your Facebook albums in Aperture's "Shared" section?
    What is your Aperture version?
When I just tried to visit my Facebook test album from Aperture from the "Facebook" drop-down menu
I also got an error message.
That vanished, after I signed directly into my Facebook account using Safari. Then I opened each album on Facebook and checked the settings.
After that, FB uploaded the albums again correctly from Aperture.

  • Uploading from Aperture

    Hello.
I went from PC to MAC 8 months ago and I am as happy as can be. I used iPhoto for the first six months and really liked it. Not wanting to spend a whole lot of money and buy Photoshop for the Mac (only have pc license and the Photoshop I have is pretty old any way) I decided to buy Aperture back in November.
Transferring files from iPhoto to Aperture was not as easy as apple said it would be, but I solved all the problems and all 16.000+ images are now in Aperture, with all the information I had added, places, faces and what have you. One thing I miss from iPhoto is the fabulous ways of emailing my photos.
I use ipernity.com for some of my shots and suddenly I have a problem when I want to upload. I upload some family shots to facebook and use the facebook button, no problems. I have had no problems uploading to ipernity, but suddenly Aperture does not appear on the list, only iPhoto and Photo Booth (the same goes for my blog on blogspot). Uploading this screenshot meant exporting it to the desktop and then upload it. Aperture used to be there, first in line, but no more. I have tried to find out why this happened, but had to give up. To my knowledge, I did not change any settings, but who knows.....
Hope someone can help. Thank you!
    Uploading

Check your Aperture->Preferences->Previews settings. The Share previews wirh iLife and iWorks needs to be something other than never.
If that doesn't rsolve the problem post back and include your OS and Aperture versions.

  • Upload from Youtube to Facebook?

Hey guys, i would like to know how to upload videos from youtube straight to my facebook.  I have accounts for both.  Speaking of, i also could not figure out how to sign into my youtube account, i put in the right information but it wouldn't go through on my Ipod.  It goes through on my computer though.  Any help would be appriciated, Thanks!!

You can't upload directly to Facebook from Youtube, but you can however upload to Twitter from the Youtube app on iOS 5. If you have your Twitter account synced to your Facebook account, when you post to Twitter, it will appear in your Facebook feed. Hope I helped!

  • When uploading from Aperture to Mobile Me.....

Does Aperture convert Raw files while uploading versions or do I need to convert first and then upload.
    Thank you in advance.

I believe it uses the previews (JPEG) it generates for every master and version to post the image to Mobile me. It uses the same previews with all iLife applications as well.
You control the size of previews in the Aperture Preferences.
Once you set the preview size, Select all the images you are going to upload, and select Image\Update Preview. Then drag the images to the Mobile Me Gallery. It does the rest for you.
    Hope this helps.

  • Photos rotating when uploading from iPhoto to Facebook.

This is driving me crazy! In my iPhoto library my photos are portrait (how I want them) but when I highlight and drag them to Facebook to be part of a post some of the pictures rotate sideways.
Could someone please!!! help me with this.
    Thankyou in advance.

Have you tried to use the "Share" command instead of dragging to the Facebook album? My "Portrait" photos are showing correctly upright when I use the "Share" button in the footer if the iPhoto window.

  • What is the best way to upload pictures to Facebook from Aperture?

Right now i log into facebook, create a new album or add to an exisiting album, my finder opens, i select the photos, click ok, then click upload. The picture looks ok once loaded, but the color is off (brighter). When i email and export the picture looks just fine.
Am i doing something wrong? Is there a more efficient way to upload form Aperture to Facebook?

See this Manual page for exporting to Facebook: it explains how to set up your FB account from Aperture and to create a new Facebook album.

  • I'm about to become a professional photographer and in the process of producing my own website. I want to choose one which allows photos from Aperture to be uploaded onto it in full resolution, with keyword/time metadata attached. Is this possible?

I plan to use a company such as Zenfolio to allow automatic ordering and payment of prints also. I would also like the photos to be uploaded with a watermark attached. Is this best to apply in Aperture, or by the website, if that is possible?!

There are plug-ins to upload from Aperture to both Zenfolio and SmugMug. The latter is built-in to Aperture 3.5.
I personally use SmugMug and I watermark the photos after the fact. I do this because if people order prints, they want an un-watermarked print, and if I watermark the photo that I upload to the service itself, there's no way to remove it, other than uploading a new version. I'd assume Zenfolio can do the same but don't know first hand.

  • Facebook export from Aperture 3.0.2

Very simply - Aperture resizes uploaded photos to 604 x 403 while Facebook accepts photos 720 x 540. Photos uploaded by Aperture on Facebook look much worse than those uploaded with Facebook's own uploader. This needs to be addressed in the next update but does anyone have any ides to change it in the meantime?

I no longer export to Facebook due to the size and watermark problem.
I was unable to find any pref or reference file in anything 'Aperture' that relates to Facebook unfortunately - maybe someone else can suggest something.
If you haven't already done so, please do send Apple feedback on the problem as I have already done.

I assume you actually mean uploading from iPad to Facebook?
Do you have a facebook app for iPad 2. I use friendly. Once installed you can upload photos from your iPad by tapping on the friendly icon with the 2 down arrows. Then tap upload Photo and then Chose from library (note chose is spelt as in app)
    Hope this helps.

  • How can you select which pictures to upload from camera? plus facebook ?

Is there any way to select which pictures from your digital camera you would like to upload on to iphoto? Or is the only way to upload all of the pictures on your camera? I have 214 pictures on my camera and 210 of them are already in iphoto...i only want to upload the new 4!
    Another question..
I am trying to upload my pictures on to Facebook, and they are significantly smaller than the pictures I uploaded via my PC. How can I get them to upload at normal size?
    THANKS!

    Re: the FaceBook problem
This sounds like you're uploading the Thumbnails that iPhoto uses to display the pics in the iPhoto Window not the pics themselves. Have you been uploading from the Data folder in the iPhoto Library Folder?
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • I am no longer able to upload photos from iphoto to Facebook. The "publish" button is now "grayed out."  Any suggestions?

I am no longer able to upload photos from iphoto to Facebook. The "publish" button is now "grayed out."  Any suggestions?

The window doesn't automatically pop up now. When you plug the card reader in, you should see a 4th option on the lower bar of the photos app. I think it says camera. Tap on that then you can see and inport your photos.
If you are still having issues, try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. It won't hurt any data but can clear gliches.

  • What file size is used for when uploading to MobileMe from Aperture?

When I upload my photo files from Aperture (and previously from iPhoto) I routinely use the upload setting named "dowloading of optimized" files.  I know that this downsizes the files for faster upload/download, but still gives a file size acceptable for great onscreen presentation and for a resulting small print of someone downloads.  Can anyone tell what downsizing Aperture does in this case?  For example, 50% jpeg, email sized jpeg, etc.  Since Apple will kill the MobileMe galleries in June I have to switch to another photo presentation host.  For upload to such a host Aperture gives choices like 100% jpeg, 50% jpeg, etc.  What I want to do is end up with something similar to what I now get with the "optimized" setting.  Thank you.

You will note that I referenced both programs (iPhoto & Aperture) in my original message above, and I have posted in both forums.  Since both programs offer the same (at least on the surface) option of "optimized" to MobileMe galleries, one might assume that both use the same or a similar system.  Lengthly testing of my own is the "best" solution only if I can not find anyone who is knowledgeable about what these programs do in the upload.  It has been my sincere joy over many many years that I often find people on these forums who possess knowledge much greater than I.  As to the programs changing the algorithum at any time, I doubt that since this MobileMe function will disappear in June.  Seems like a strange time to make changes.
