Uploading from Canon SX30 into mac with lion

I've been using photoshop CS on my older mac. Will not migrate to lion os. Also my Canon SX30 IS camera will not upload to my new powerbook. If I purchase photoshop elements 10 will the Canon memory card upload to my computer into the photoshop software?

Probably not any better than it does now. I'd start by just getting a card reader. There's never any problem uploading from a reader. If you want to stay on the photoshop track, are you aware of adobe's new upgrade policy starting with CS6? If you don't have CS5 you can't get the upgrade price for CS6 when it comes out. If you think PSE might work for you, I would download the trial and give it a good hard workout to see if you can do everything you need with PSE.

It's actually very simple. In your old AB under the file menu click "Export Address Book Archive to your desktop. Then using the new system log in to the old via network and move the file from the old to the new.
Then open the new AB and click import AB archive"

In a finder window, under 'shared' you should be able to see the windows computer name, click on it and connect to it. I am assuming here you have sharing turned on and permissions granted on the windows computer.
Will add a note though, I have frequently accessed files from a PC on the LAN using XP, not vista.

Using Photoshop Elements 6 on Mac with Lion 10.7. As with other users, I am unable to load styles downloaded from net (asl files). Shapes, brushes, and patterns load just fine. Have tried placing them in styles folder in presets (that didn't work) and library application folder for styles (that didn't work). Have tried removing preferences file for styles from preferences folder and doing both of the above (didn't work).

You must delete mediadatabase.db3 in order for this to work
Put the styles into Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Photoshop Elements > 6.0 > Locale > en_US (or your location) >Photo Creations > layer styles. Note that this library isn't exactly hidden (like your user library) but it's hard to get to. The easiest way to find it is to go to the Finder preferences>sidebar and turn on this checkbox to show your hard disks in the sidebar:
then your hard drive will appear in the list on the left side of any finder window. Click it and the library you want will be at the top level of results on the right side of the window.
While you're in en_US, delete the file mediaDatabase.db3 which you will find there.
Restart PSE and give it time to rebuild the contents of the effects and content panels. Don't do anything till the icons are back there.

4GB of RAM is not very much RAM these days particularly if you tend to have many windows open at one time. For example if you are working in Safari and have several tabs open and then work on a Photoshop project that will eat a lot of RAM. One simple way to check is open Activity Monitor (Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor) and click the System Memory tab. Run this under typical use and check the amount of FREE RAM. It will look something like:
I can see from my example I am dangerously low on RAM by the amount of free RAM I have. I suspect if you upgrade to 8, 12 or even 16GB of RAM your machine would work much better. BTW ...my MacBook Air is limited to 4GB so it's up to me to manage my RAM better.

You need and external drive to make a clone of your current installation of OS X. Then you can use DIsk Utility (Apps/Utilities) to divide the internal drive into two partitions. Doing so will erase the drive, which is why you need the clone so you don't loose everything. Then copy the clone to one partition to restore everything and use a Snow DVD to install it on the 2nd partition.

Hi, Ive recently purchased a Mac with Lion as the operating system 10.8.4, and have CS6 suite. However, my old mac runs CS3, and I still have this software which I also want to run on my new mac. However,when I go to open a flash file with CS3, its keeps saying trial expired. I have the serial number for this but it won't let me install properly as it thinks im upgrading but I wish to run cs3 for a special project. Can you help?

Open the presentations in iWork '09, "Duplicate", then "Save". In the dialog box, towards the bottom, check "Save a copy as.." and choose "iWork '08" from the pull down menu. That should give a copy that you can take to the church Mac.
Unfortunately I don't have iWork '08 available to check this so I can't guarantee that it will work!

I Nearly bought from Amazon too but I found a thread from Adobe stating that the only recognized outlet for lightoom is themselves and other outlets serial numbers will not be guaranteed.

what I meant to suggest was if the camera does not show in finder or in L&T check the camea menu setting is set to connect to the hard drive and not from the camera or memory card.

First, iCloud: How to back up iCloud data.
Next, use iCal>File>Export>Export...for the calendar that you want to use for the export. Move the .ics file to your new computer, and double click the file. You will be offered a choice of creating a new calendar in iCloud, or importing to an existing calendar. Make the appropriate choice for your circumstances.

When you buy software it's your responsibility to keep the media against
future reinstallations, whether you purchase via download or on disc. If
you registered your software, for PSE 9 you may still find a download
link in your adobe store account, if you purchased PSE that way, also.

On the I-pad I found no difficulties but that is another workable issue.

Make a new user Test Account on your computer, then try to download it through there, see what happens.

Missing pictures and some with interference across them, following upload from Canon 60d

I am getting intermittent images missing and some with interference across them, following upload from a Canon 60d into iPhoto 9.6. on my Macbook Pro. I have uploaded the same pictures to my iMac 2006 and they are all fine. Anybody got any idea as to what might be happening here?

Can I format my Mac with Lion From App Store?

I lost my instalation diks and I need to now if the Lion software download or the USB with Lion will be the same as insterting the OS X disk and formatting the computer... PLEASE HELP! Thanks in advance...

Do you have Snow Leopard installed on your computer? If so then you can purchase and download the Lion installer from the App Store. You can also make your own bootable USB flash drive. Or, you can go to an Apple store and purchase the Apple USB Lion Installer flash drive.
The latter will cost $69.00. The former will cost $30.00 plus the cost of an 8 GB USB flash drive.
