Uploading from ipod
Can someone tell me how to save the music from my ipod into my itunes library? My computer crashed and I lost all my saved music so now all I have is the music on my ipod. Thanks

This is important reason why you need to develop a good back up strategy. I cannot stress that enough. PC's die, but so do iPods. You need to have a couple back up strategies in place to protect your music investment. An external harddrive or burning your library to Data DVD's or CD's. I always have at least three back ups, other than my iPod. My Windows computer has crashed now three times, and I have yet to lose my music.
Ok, now, you will have to purchase a third party program that will allow you to rip your iPod library onto your iTunes. Just do a google search, there are many out there, such as iPod Agent, iPod Transfer, Yamipod, so on and so forth. Good Luck and come back if you have more questions.

Old hard drive damaged; how to upload from iPod to new computer
The hard drive on my old computer was damaged. I had not backed up all of my iTunes library to either a DVD or external drive. My iPod classic has about 6,300 songs. I just purchased a new computer. Is it possible to upload all of the songs on my iPod to the new iTunes library on the new computer? I assume I will get a message telling me that the computer is not authorized. I am not all that tech savvy, so I don't want to hit "sync" and lose all my non-Apple purchased music. Thanks.
Hey there again, here's another answer.
Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

My new imac doesn't recognize my external drive...So I can't transfer Itunes music library from old pc to new mac...Can I upload from my ipod to itunes on new mac?
1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):

Does anybody know how to upload music and pics from ipod w/ colour screen to a computer.
I haven't been able to master this
Your help is greatly appreciatedYou can't sync or drag your music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. Is there anyway I can upload from my Nano to itunes on my computer?
Hello, Eliana, and welcome to the Discussions.
The easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

New Hard Drive- How to upload from iPod Photo without access to old drive
Needed to purchase/install a new hard drive after Windows corruption on my old pc. My iPod Photo is completely backed up with my entire library/playlists, etc. Old music files were copied to my new hard drive but the iTunes application needs to be reloaded. I am hoping there is a way to sync my iPod with the new version of iTunes on my new hard drive and have the iPod used as a backup drive. Everything I read about this suggests I need access to my old hard drive to change settings on the iPod before I will be able to upload to the new software from the iPod. Does anyone know if what I want to do is possible so that I can retain all of my playlists, etc the way they are? Thanks so much.

Need to upload from IPOD to NEW computer
My computer disk went bad and is unrecoverable. I have a new PC and am trying to UPLOAD the CDs from my IPOD to my new computer. I have not been able to find any help on how to do this. I don't want to have to reload my entire CD library (which took hours and hours) Surely I am not the first person to have a disk go bad...
On my old computer system I did have a backup disk and do have my Itunes Library on that disk but when I hooked my IPOD up to my new computer ITUNES downloaded onto the main disk instead of recognizing that ITUNES was on the external hard drive that was attached to the computer when I hooked my IPOD up.
My IPOD is a Gen 3 32 Gig It had 4.1 on it and automatically upgraded to 4.3 when I attached it to this computer. (I had spent time trying to recover the old disk so it has been at least 3 months since my IPOD had synced with the old computer.
I'm not sure what other info would be helpful.
Please Please give advice on how to upload my CDsiApple doesn't support the transferring of music from your iPod to your iTunes. Only iTunes to iPod. So to do this you will need to download a third party program that will help copy your music from your iPod back to your computer, or there are a couple manual methods you can check out.

If you iPod is set to automatically update and you plug it into iTunes, a message will pop up telling you that your iPod is linked to another library. It will ask if you want to sync and replace all your music. Make sure you hit NO. If you sync with an empty library, then your iPod will also end up empty, because when it syncs it makes an exact copy of your library.
Goodluck, hope something works for ya -
Help-Upload from IPOD back toG5 How to?

Upload from ipod (UK itunes) to Australia itunes account
I have an ipod mb261 8GB from around 2006. I have a UK itunes account and am trying to find how I can upload photos from my ipod to my Australia iTunes account? When I try I am told everything form "other iTunes libraries will be removed". Thanks to anyone for any help.
I downloaded Senuti. It is freeware.
It worked but thought it would put it in Itunes. It put it in the regular Music folder. Then I had to figure out how to get it into Itunes since import didn't work. It was just a matter of selecting the icons in the regular Music folder and dragging them into Itunes.
Thanks. -

I Need a application to transfer my entire itunes library (roughly 1150 songs) from my ipod back to my computer. Any Ideas?
Are there any equivalents for Windows?
My wife formatted her iPod to use with her PC laptop but unfortunately didn't retain the iTunes original RIPed tracks. Now we want to sync everything on my iMac G5 because switching back & forth with the PC wasn't working.
I want to save her considerable collection on the iPod before reformatting, so I can reinstate it once it has a Mac format. -
