Uploading i-web sites to specific url

I have created two websites using i-web. I have tested on 60 day trail account with .mac & they look great. I want to upload to specific urls. Have separated the domain files into two. Have Cyber Duck as ftp server. But how do I ACTUALLY upload? I have tried by dragging the domain file to Cyber Duck but it doesn't work. Can anyone let me know the procedure of doing it properly so that it works?
many thanks indeed.

If you have set up your dotMac account details in the System Preferences, then in iWeb you can publish your Site(s) to dotMac.
[Here's the tutorial|http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#iweb-publish-60]
No need for Cyberduck which isn't a FTP Server but an application to upload files to such server.
dotMac does not support FTP, so Cyberduck is irrelevant.
Your domain file is where iWeb stores the info when you edit your Site(s). You keep that file on your computer. It has no use outside iWeb.
If you do not continue your dotMac account after the trial period, you have to publish your Site(s) to a folder and then use Cyberduck to transfer the Site(s) to your FTP server.
Once published to a folder it is not an iWeb issue anymore. You can even edit the published pages in a HTML Editor of your choice.
You can also publish your Site(s) to the Sites folder in your Home directory and serve them with Personal Webserver.
It great for testing pages, before you make them public.

  • Hit Counter button not appearing when I upload the web site.

I am using iWeb version 3.0.4 on OS 10.6.8, and on the Welcome page, I added the Hit Counter button.  When I upload the web site, the Hit Counter button does not appear.  Anyone have any solutions as to why it isn't appearing?  Thanks...

Where are you hosting the site? The counter will not work on ftp servers, only on MobileMe.  If you are hosting on MobileMe increase the footer height considerable and publish. If the counter then appears you can move it closer to the body/footer border and reduce the footer height.
If you're not on MobileMe consider a 3rd party counter like StatCounter.  This tutorial describes how to add it to iWeb pages: #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet
If you're on MobileMe you know that MMe will be discontinued on June 30 of next year.  This may be of interest: #23 - Life After MobileMe

I was wondering if it is possible, after having creted a web-site with iWeb, to upload it directly to a specific internet provider, by-passing the address provided as default by .MAC?
If so, where can I tell the program that the remote site has changed and not to use the default site any more?

  • Edit Color Sync for Exports for Web Sites

    Hi,
Perhaps this has been covered, but I've not found the thread. Most of the export color sync questions seem to revolve around printing or displaying on one's own monitor. Neither is an issue for me. However, I note that my RAW images exported from Aperture 2.0 as jpg's and then uploaded to web sites such as Jalbum and Orkut are washed out. Some forums have suggested this is due to those websites being optimized for sRGB. I understand that Aperture uses a proprietary color sync profile; however, my default EXIF - Expanded shows "Color Model" as simply "RGB", and "Profile Name" is Adobe RGB (1998) (my Canon 50D is set to sRGB). Again, I have seen suggestions on this forum that one can change these settings, but the process appears to be only for printers and monitors. Where/how can I change the export for uploading jpg's to the web.
    Thanks,
    Nick

I understand that Aperture uses a proprietary color sync profile
If the profile were proprietary, it would be an illegal profile under the ICC Specification.
However, I note that my RAW images exported from Aperture 2.0 as jpg's and then uploaded to web sites such as Jalbum and Orkut are washed out.
If you did not disable embedding of an ICC source colour space in Aperture, if you did not use a non-ICC enabled browser, the OS X system level services will set up a ColorWorld and convert the pixels in your JPEGs matching from the ICC source colour space to the ICC destination colour space of your display. Thus you will get what you uploaded in the first place.
I have seen suggestions on this forum that one can change these settings, but the process appears to be only for printers and monitors.
The idea is that each and every colour device is calibrated and that calibration is captured in a colourimetric colour characterisation from which an ICC colour device profile is computed. Colourants that form certain colours one one colour device at one calibration will form other colours in the same colour device at another calibration and in other colour devices at yet other calibrations. By means of device profiles, the COLOURS can be kept constant while the COLOURANTS are recomputed to compel the device to paint the closest possible match it is capable of.
Some forums have suggested this is due to those websites being optimized for sRGB.
The issue is whether people who post pictures do or do not embed ICC source colour spaces into their pictures and whether they pick browsers that are ICC-enabled or pick colour blind browsers.
To determine if there is an embedded ICC source colour space in a picture, download the picture to disk, open iApple Preview and select Tools > Get Info > Summary.
Colour Model: This defines the format or model of the colourants, e.g. three component RGB, four component CMYK.
ColorSync Profile: This defines the ICC source colour space. If there is none in the image file, the system level service assigns the Generic RGB Profile for model RGB, the Generic CMYK Profile for model CMYK and so forth. Therefore, any ICC source colour space than a Generic Profile source colour space is embedded in the image file itself.
In technical terms, the rule is that to construct a ColourWorld that does a colour space conversion through the PCS Profile Connection Space, you have to have an ICC source colour space and an ICC destination colour space (typically your display profile). It follows that the system level service ASSIGNS an ICC source colour space automatically where is none embedded. The ICC source colour space that is assigned when there is none embedded is the Generic RGB Profile for colourant model RGB, as explained.

  • Check iTunes account information on Apple web site?

Is there any way to check the status of my iTunes account on the apple web site? Specifically, I'm looking for authorized computers, etc.
    TIA.
    Airmon

We're closing in on the answer, I think, but both of those suggestions involved accomplishing this task via iTunes, which involves reinstalling iTunes, and I'm keen on avoiding that.
That's why I'm trying to do it through the web site, rather than iTunes.
Sorry, I've just had a lot of bad luck with that software and it's taken a fair amount of effort to clean all the stuff it left behind off of my computer.
If the answer is "No, you have to use iTunes. There's no way to accomplish any account management on the apple website.", I can accept that and live without ever knowing the iTunes account information. I'll be done with the iPhone in a month or so and can call Apple support and have them cancel the account.
I was just hoping there was an easy, online way to manage my account like there is with most other stuff...
    Thanks for your time.

  • New web site

I have created, and uploaded a web site in my own domain.
I created another one web site, and I want to upload it too in the same domain.
I press on"Publish" and the process starts, but when I go to the site I only see the first one.
How can I upload differents web sites and see them all?

I am having similar problems with my iWeb 08 sites. I have 6 'sites' under my .mac domain. I split them into separate domains and was able to publish and maintain them with the previous version of iWeb.
Earlier this week, I upgraded the iLife software I use on to publish several of the websites I maintain. The iWeb 08 application makes it easy to create and maintain nice looking websites with web log, web gallery and other high end functions. One of the functions that was added was the ability to publish directly to domains you own.
I, being the geek I am, upgraded immediately. I began by opening up all of my iWeb based sites so that iWeb 08 would update the site to be compatible with the new version. I then published each site to .Mac. I also was trying to set up what Apple calls ‘personal domain’ forwarding.
Somewhere along the line, things went haywire unbeknownst to me. As I published each site, I surfed over to make sure everything looked good. I as quite happy with the results. The changes to iWeb improved the readability of the site and made navigation a little easier.
HOWEVER, once I was done publishing all of the sites, I found a MAJOR problem. Once I was completely done (or so I thought), I went back through all of the sites. When I hit the second site, my browser said the site was unavailable. I republished the site in question and the site came back up.
The rest of sites, including the site that was previously working, were unavailable. After a few tries, I finally figured out that only the last site I published was available and the rest were broken. I eventually decided to leave well enough alone for now and contact Apple for support on 8/14. I am still waiting for a response as of 8/18. Apple usually responds within 24 hours but no such luck this time.
The fact that they've already published an iWeb update, the discussion forums are quite busy with chatter about iWeb problems, and Apple has not responded in its usual 24 hour period indicates to me that Apple may published the upgrade with less than adequate testing. I am disappointed to say the least.

  • How do I remove old web site when publishing new site with same URL in iweb? Hit replace when publishing new iweb site (so we could have control over changes) but new site name is attached to old via a / after our www address we want to keep.

I hit the replace when publishing the new iweb site (so we could have control over changes - last one was not an apple based site) but new site name is attached to old via a forward slash and underscore after our www address. Makes it very messy with a very long web address.  Original address now followed by iweb site name followed by name of first page? Went for iweb as not that computer literate - all going so well?! Cheers for help in anticipation. Have to get off to work now but be great end to week if we could be sorted tonight. Rupes

Well yes of course, if you try and publish through iWeb there won't be an option to publish without your site folder which is exactly why I told you to download Cyberduck and use Cyberduck to upload your site to your server having published your site from iWeb to a local folder.  That is what you need to do if you don't want your site name to be included in yoru url.
It would have been easier also if you had used Cyberduck initially to connect to your server and delete your old site yourself - at least that way you would have deleted the correct files rather than relying on your hosting service to do it and doing it incorrectly.
Download Cyberduck and then select the publish to a local folder option from iWeb and then use Cyberduck to upload your site to your server, but rather than uploading the whole site folder and separate index file, upload ONLY the contents of your site folder and then your url will be http://www.domain.com/page_name.html.
    It really isn't rocket science!

  • How do I block a very specific web site regardless of popups, cookies, addons, defaults or ANYTHING else.

I occassionally want to block certain web sites.
it may be a bank account, blog site, whatever.
I want these site blocked by mozilla regardless of any other setting.
where do I do this in the options?
I am not talking about cookies, popups, addons, or any related or unrelated issues.
I want to be able to tell mozilla 'never go to this web site'.
    how do I do that?

My Flash sites use a section and subSection structure, and
within the site I use the numbers to display specific areas. But
it's done internally. I have no code that looks at a query string
attached to the URL so supplying the numbers to my sites will have
no effect. The example you give clearly does read parameters passed
in a query string so if you know the correct numbers (and the param
names eg 'section') then you can do it.
