Uploading images into SWF

I didn't think so, but I thought I'd ask.
Say I have my flash file online, and would like a user to be
able to import an image from their computer. I won't know the file
type or file name, eliminating some options.
This is a very basic description of my problem, but I'm
fairly certain I'm not able to do so. Just thought I'd ask.

Hrm, nevermind. Looks to be doable with some server
programming.

i need ur help,we hav online site .Please don't use these juvenile abbreviations. It's impolite when you're asking for assistance not to make the effort to spell out all of the words. Moreover in a forum with an international readership the use of standard English will reduce the possibility of confusion.
I presume that your file upload is being placed in a different directory from that which you were expecting. I would suggest logging all paths (specifically filename) to see if this is an unexpected value.
Please explain further what you mean by "local" - is this a stand-alone application, or merely running a copy of the server on your local machine and doing the transfer (via the browser) to that? Are there any other differences such as the browser used?

You can't open the image file in InDesign.

Can any1 help me plzzzz??? Would appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks in advance.

Regards,

I would guess that this is because of the way you try to read the file contents. Maybe you should add some debug statements to find out what you're realling setting as content. It's certainly not KM's fault.
The following sequence of statements looks wrong:
nt len = (int) f.length();
byte a[] = new byte[len];
FileInputStream fin = new FileInputStream(f);
fin.read(a);
String FileContent = a.toString();
IPortalComponentRequest request =
(IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest();
com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser user =
(com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser) request.getUser().getUser();
IResourceFactory factory = ResourceFactory.getInstance();
IResourceContext context = new ResourceContext(user);
RID rid = RID.getRID("/documents/test");
IResource resource = factory.getResource(rid, context);
if (resource != null) {
ICollection parent =
(ICollection) ResourceFactory
.getInstance()
.getResource(
rid,
context);
String out = new String(FileContent);
ByteArrayInputStream data =
new ByteArrayInputStream(out.getBytes());
IContent content =
new Content(data, "text/html", data.available());
Why don't you just pass the FileInputStream into the Content object's constructor???

Help would be really appreciated, I am making good progress in learning the php especially with David's books but am still struggling when it comes to having to customized the code.
The code for the upload.php is as follows,

Thank you very much for your help. I had continued to work on the code and had worked out how to input the image path into the database but it was using the original filename, so when every it is changed it did not work. The code in my page at that point was the following,

• Need to allow users to upload images (jpg) in the flash (.swf) from your local computer (with the drive C). Help, please.

Faly .swf is on the server.
The user loads the page HTMl file .swf.
By clicking on button_mc the user can select from your computer (local disk) image file to upload not on the server and temporarily - to flash - the file.
Below given code works only if the image file .swf are in the same directory (folder).
I know the file name, but I can not find the full local path to his computer to the selected file.
Ниже приведенный код работает, только если картинка и файл .swf находятся в одной папке (folder).
Я могу узнать имя файла, но не могу выяснить полный локальный путь на его компьютере до выбранного файла.
How do I get my site you can download at home in my swf file to a photo to her dalsche work?
Как сделать, чтобы пользователь моего сайта мог у себя дома загрузить в мой файл swf свою картинку, чтобы с ней дальще работать?

• Embed image into runtime skin (.swf)

Hi all,
I'm trying to embed an image into a runtime skin but I have this error :
Error: Skin for skinsRuntimeBase0.ApplicationSkin2._ApplicationSkin_Group1.contentGroup.BoutonPerso8.Bout onPersoSkinRed16._BoutonPersoSkinRed_Image1 cannot be found.
when I access to my swf skin in my main application with styleManager.loadStyleDeclarations2().
I'm working with FB4 and command line (compc + mxmlc) to compile resources and to compile swf with my swc resource bundle.
Here is my process :
1) Creation of a FB4 library project and copy of an image url.png in package assets.
2) Creation of a swc asset with this library project. Here is my xml :

<flex-config>
<compiler>
<source-path append="true">
<path-element>src</path-element>
</source-path>
</compiler>
<include-file>

src/assets/url.png
</include-file>
<output>assets.swc</output>
</flex-config>
3) Creation of another FB4 library project in which I load into library path assets.swc
4) Creation of a basic css file :
@namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
@namespace mx "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx";
@namespace test "com.test.*";
test|BoutonPerso{
skinClass: ClassReference("skins.red.BoutonPersoSkinRed");
test|BoutonPerso #label {
color: "0xFF0000";
My skin class is that :

<s:Skin xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx">
<fx:Metadata>
[HostComponent("com.test.BoutonPerso")]
</fx:Metadata>
<fx:Script>

[Embed(source="url.png")]
[Bindable]
public var img:Class;

</fx:Script>
<s:Label id="label" text="skinRed" />
<s:Image source="{img}" />
</s:Skin>
I notice here that if I change the source of Embed metadata, I have an error so my image in my assets.swc is correctly found.
5) Creation of my swf runtime skin :

<flex-config>
<compiler>
<source-path append="true">
<path-element>src/</path-element>
</source-path>
<include-libraries append="true">
<library>E:/workspaces/flex/assets/assets.swc</library>
</include-libraries>
<keep-as3-metadata append="true">

</keep-as3-metadata>
</compiler>
<file-specs>
<path-element>src/redStyle.css</path-element>
</file-specs>
<output>redSkin.swf</output>
</flex-config>
My redSkin.swf is created and Embed my image (verified with the size of my swf and a swf explorer in which I find my image).
But when in my main application I try to load my skin with :
styleManager.loadStyleDeclarations2("E:/workspaces/flex/skinsRuntimeRed/src/redStyle.swf", true, ApplicationDomain.currentDomain);
I have error at top of message.
what am I doing wrong please ?
Thanks and sorry for my english

Hi Jayagopal,
You need to apply various skins for the Button to see the effects....
.myButton
upSkin:"assets/buttonUp.png";
downSkin:"assets/buttonDown.png"
overSkin:"assets/buttonOver.png"
Thanks,

• Making a loaded swf-file loading images into the movie..

Trying to convert my problem from norwegian into english
isn't always that easy... :)
Anyway..
I've created som cool buttons that I want to be loaded into a
movie (let's call i MainMovie.swf) and from there I want the
buttons to be able to load images into a movieclip (ImageContainer)
inside the MainMovie.swf.
Is it possible to make the MainMovie.swf communicate with the
the loaded buttons (each button is a swf-file containing the
actionscript, objects, etc.) so when the buttons are clicked they
load different images into the ImageContainer?
My idea here is to include an as.file into the MainMovie.swf
as well containing the url's to the images that I want to be loaded
into ImageContainer.
I've tried to create a button on a layer above the buttons
that's loaded into the MainMovie.swf but I end up with the loaded
buttons not working properlu because of the button that I've
created and placed above them.
Now, I don't want the url's inside the buttons thats loaded
into the MainMovie.swf as I want the ability to be able to replace
those buttons-files without having to use too much time writing the
url's in each button.
Thanks folks.

are all your swfs using as3 or as2? if as3, you won't be
loading into a movieclip: you'll use a loader instance and you can
reference (or communictae with) the loaded as3 objects using the
content property of your loader once you cast it as a
movieclip.

• Safari can not upload images newly imported into iPhoto. I have to shutdown iphoto and safari before the latest import of images into iPhoto is found my safari.

When I want to upload images to facebook on safari - from a NEWLY imported album in iPhoto - Safari can not find the new album in iPhoto. Obviously the most commonly uploaded images are the recent ones. I am uploading them to a facebook page, not my own account - which is not possible from iphoto. So I have to shutdown safari and iphoto and then do the upload again. This has happened me three times now - and - well - its one of those annoying things that windows 95 could have done and super safari can't .... could apple sort this out sometime. Please.

You'll not get a rebuttal from me. I still run into Wizard of Oz moments.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

• Need to Upload the image into XMII server from a desktop

Hi,
Can anyone let me know how to upload the image from my laptop on to the server which i should be using in my pages. I tried using Image Loader and Image Saver. But it lead me no where. Is there a detailed documentation for this ?
Thanks for your help in Advance.
Regards,
Deepthi lakshmi.A.

Hi Deepti,
Could you give some details on what you are trying to achieve.
Is this a use case scenario where images need to be uploaded by a handful of people using some web UI?
or
Is this a use case scenario where you wish to upload images from the harddrive of absolutely any user?
The reason for my questions is as follows.
If you wish to allow some high-level (technically savvy) users the ability to upload images to be shown in dynamic content for remainder of the public, you could, in theory, set up a network directory that xMII is able to see. These High-Level users could drop their images in the folder and specify the path in a text box.
You could go one step further and use Get Folder List action from within an Xacute transaction and display the list of images in this folder on a web UI. Users could pick the image from the list and "Bob's your Uncle!".
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Jai.
