Uploading in Dreamweaver CS3

Hi. When I used Dreamweaver 2004 MX, it was great because I
would upload a file and Dreamweaver be smart and only UPLOAD the
local files that had been CHANGED.
However, now that I have Dreamweaver CS3, it insists on
uploading EVERYTHING in the folder, whether it has changed or not.
Can anyone help? This is very, very frustrating!

> But the new Dreamweaver doesn't do this. If I say to
upload the whole folder,
> it uploads ALL 233 files EVERY SINGLE TIME.
on a guess- look in this site definition.
Some where it has a choice for maintaining sync information.
enable that.
to sync, right-click on the folder you want to upload in the
files panel.
Pick sync. Dw will scan the folder, show a list of newer
files and prompt
you to continue

  • URGENT: Dreamweaver CS3 crashes while uploading any PHP File

    Hello,
My Dreamweaver CS3 crashes everytime I try to upload any PHP
file to the Web Server. It does upload the file but crashes and you
received a "Not Responding" error in the Windows title bar. I did
search alot on this issue until I found the ".
    Dreamweaver
CS3 crashes after DST ends" problem. I deleted the cache file
as required but of NO HELP.
. It is very annoying to restart Dreamweaver
everytime you want to upload any PHP file to the Web Server after
editing it. It doesn't happen with any other types of files. Please
help me guys here or I will lose my mind.

    Bad news for you too.
First, you are not addressing Adobe here in the user forums.
Secondly, Adobe does not support CS3 any longer because it hasn't been sold for years.
Therefore, you're left to the good will of fellow users who volunteer their time here free of charge, if one of them has a solution to your issue.  No one is under any obligation to reply, so ask nicely.
One thing I can tell you is that you have not applied any of the versions available for Photoshop.  Unfortunately, the Adobe auto updater was an unmitigated piece of cr@p in any version prior to CS6.  Do not rely on it to assume you are up to date just because it doesn't show any updates available to you under Help > Updates.
You need to look for the downloads and apply them manually yourself.
I can't offer any more assistance because I don't do Windows.  Sorry.

  • IE shows code from dreamweaver CS3 after uploading

    Hi guys
    Need help.
I have coded a site in Dreamweaver CS3 and after I upload through the automatic upload everything goes perfectly fine until I view the site online through Internet Explorer. Through all other browsers the website comes through fine ie Firefox, iron for PC and Mac etc. Its just the PC Internet Explorer that shows the actual code.
    This is my code:
    br />
    &#x2022 Resume / CV<br />
    <br />
What it sows is the code of the dots (&#x2022) only.
    The link is http://www.naissant.ca/becomeadesigner.html
Hope someone can help with the problem.
    Thanks

Can't see any code in IE7, IE8 or IE9 at the link you supplied.......maybe you have fixed it?
    Correction I was looking for a bit more code. Change this &#x2022 to &bull;
or add semi-colon after code ; as shown below (not sure if this is genuine as I have'nt use that particular code to produce a bullet point)

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Freezing on Uploading Files

Has anyone ever have this problem of Dreamweaver CS3 freezing
when uploading a file or multiple files to the remote server?
Mine just started doing that and it's nearly impossible to

Anyone has a solution to that?

  • In Dreamweaver CS3, can I save to Test AND Production FTP Servers when I press save the document?

Hi, and thank you for reading this.
I've setup a production and test FTP servers in Dreamweaver CS3. It is either saves to production or test server when I click COMMAND+S (CONTROL on PC), but I'd like teh file to be saved on both simultaneously. Persssing Sync the Servers won't work since the servers are not mine and they a bit different, teh files are not the same. I just would like to be able to save 1 file at a time in both production and server with one click.
I've been searching the Interenet but could not find anything other than basic FTP setup. Any help would be appreaciated. Thanks!
    Anton

Hi John, first of all thank you for replying!
The reason why I would like to have Dreamweaver to save to both servers Test and the Production at the same time is because it would save me a lot of time keeping both servers more or less in sync. I have to keep both Test and Production servers syncronized, but only wihtin a specific content. While I test my design I do use Test server, but then the hassle begins when I am asked to make changes to the content.
For example, I have a content page called books.html. I first built it on a Test server. Then switched to the tab called Remote, connect to the Remote Server, and save it. Very simple.
However, then I need to create 10 more pages, lets call them books1.html, books2.html, and so on. Again sync them with the Remote server.
All is great, but then my boss comes and say, hey there is a mistake on these files: books3, books4, books7, and books8. Please change the text content on those. So, I know the pages are working fine, I just need to update the text on both Test and Remote servers.
So at this point I have to open these 4 files, change the text, then SAVE ALL to Test server. Then, I switch to Remote tab, go back to files press any key and 'Delete' keys so that Dreamweaver would see the change in file so that it would be able to save it. Then again 'SAVE ALL' to the Remote server.
This is happening very OFTEN. It would save me so much time and brain power remembering which files I should sync if I am in a hurry and jump from one project to another, losing track of small changes in files when there are a lot of .html files.
CMS is only in development now so I have to work with what I got. As to regard to backups, I use Time Machine so I am set with that. Plus I use MAMP. So basically I first use MAMP for testing, then upload changes to the Test server with all the BIG databases, and only then to Remote (production) with real Database. However, this is only when I develop new pages, very often I just need to modify what's already has been created. So that's why a feature like Save to BOTH servers (Test and Remote) would make a big difference to me.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11 Incompatability

I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 under OS 10.4.10 for a few
months without significant issues... but after upgrading to 10.4.11
    there is a significant problem.
I am unable to access any of my remote servers to upload
files to the sites I have built.
I was able to reinstall Dreamweaver 8 and it works fine with
    all the same setups
I've read a technote on a noted problem with Dreamweaver CS3
and Mac OS 10.5 - but it also appears to happen on 10.4.11
You can read the 10.5 technote here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402780

I have not experienced this problem. Try removing the DW CS3
preferences file in your Library and then let DW build a new one.
BTW, what error you are getting when you try to FTP?

  • Links Problem in Dreamweaver CS3 !

I recently reinstalled my Dreamweaver CS3. Now everytime i save a file, it saves the whole directory path with the file name. So when i opened my index page and saved it with some changes, all my css tables have been lost. and all the links in the file are relative to my system directory.
    BEFORE, it was index.html
AFTER SAVE, it is "C:\Documents and Settings\Idiot User\index.html"
this has happened to EACH link that i used in my page, so even the css stylesheet is not working.
the entire website appears perfectly in Dreamweaver, but when i upload the files to my webspace, the links link to "file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/Delvin/My%20Documents/CBPC%20Website/sermons.html" , for example.
also when i change the links, image locations to the File-only, and remove the directory bit, the images disappear in dreamweaver.
Everything was working perfectly, until i re-installed the program. Can anyone suggest a way in which every file and every link is synced; so it is what it says it is WYSIWYG !

i do NOT think that it is a helpful answer .
You may not think so, but it sounds like a very plausible explanation and a mighty good place to start looking.
In your site definition settings, are your links relative to Document or Site Root?
Which operating system are you using?
Did you get all the latest updates for CS3 since re-installing?

  • SWF problem in Dreamweaver CS3 and strange Script file

Hi folks, I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and tried to upload a
SWF file today. The SWF includes three buttons, one for video,
another for audio and one for text. Before loading up to DW all
three parts played fine. But when I uploaded to DW and my site, the
video fails to play. A Script file, and another file downloaded I
am not sure what I am supposed to do with this script file. The
script file is called The audio and text part works fine, but the
video will not play. I am not sure why this is, but when I uploaded
the file to Dreamweaver there was a Script file called
AC_RunActiveContent.js that automatically downloaded along with a
    file called .htaccess
The other file is called called .htaccess
I uploaded both files to my server, but that did not help the
video play. I tried pasting the AC_RunActiveContent.js code into my
page and uploading, but that did not help the video play either; I
just got code at the bottom of my page.
I have viewed the page in Mozilla, IE7 and Flock, but still I
    cannot play the video.
Does anyone have any idea how to make the video play in
Dreamweaver; what I am supposed to do with these two code files?
For those interested in the AC_RunActiveContent.js code, I
will post below. Please try to explain simply because I am not so
    tech savvy.
    I thank you all.

I have managed to fathom it out.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 mishandling dashes and quotes?

Well, that's my problem. After years of doing sites in
GoLive, I'm forcing myself to learn to do them the proper way, with
Dreamweaver in CSS. I've apend days learning about the cascade and
specificity. I've had three books open at a time. I finally get a
few pages together . . . upload them . . . and my dashes and
apostrophes have turned to trios of question marks! Am I going to
have to learn to write without them? How do I write without
apostrophes? I can't see using double hyphens on a web site -- I do
that in emails and on forums, but there is a limit.
    Here's what I mean:
    http://www.marybaum.com/FRC/about.html
I'm on a MacBook Pro running Tiger. This never happened in
    GoLive.

I've never seen anything like that in DW and I've been using
    it since
version 3. What did you put in your markup that caused that?
    Some of the
places they appear aren't appropriate for an apostrophe,
    which, btw .. you
can use. It almost reminds me of the sort of thing you see
    when a font is
    missing. ..

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Design View Problem

I am trying to edit a Dreamweaver site using Dreamweaver CS3 on a Windows XP workstation at work. The site structure was developed by an outside vendor and has been designed using CSS for positioning -- no tables. It is my responsibility to finish the site using template pages provided. When viewing the site in several browsers -- both Mac and PC, everything is fine. When I open the site in Dreamweaver CS3 Windows, all of the positioning is off -- the menus that should be flush left of the text colum, instead, appear at the top of the text column. This issue is repeated throughout the site. Since I am using existing pages as templates for new ones, I'm forced to make edits in code view, upload and then view in my browser. My outside vendor, so far, does not have an answer to this.
This weekend at home, I've installed an old Dreamweaver 8 trial version on my Macintosh. I downloaded the site and everything looks fine in Design View. Any ideas? Is this a settings issue on my Windows version of Dreamweaver?  I do have the Style Rendering setting set to Screen Media type.

    Hi,
I found this thread after searching and searching for an answer as to why my Design View in DW CS3 started disappearing (even in split view).  It will show a partial view, but never the entire view all at once, even after restarting my PC.  I have been using CS3 for a few years now and it just started having this issue.  When this issue started, nothing had changed on my computer.  There has to be a fix for this.  Why did it work fine all these years and now, no design view????

  • Active X fix  in Dreamweaver CS3 is breaking...

    Hello All-
I have searched until I am blue in the face and most of the
issues around the Dreamweaver fix for "click to activate" issues in
IE revolve around the end user in this case ME not uploading the
scripts to the site...well I am lucky enough to understand that key
step and have left it as Dreamweaver wants to do it, by installing
in the root of the site in the Scripts folder, I have also moved it
to the same level as the index.html and everywhere in between with
no Avail... In IE after adding the automated scripts Dreamweaver
includes I get a big fat Red X...Anyone else having this issue? I
have updated Dreamweaver CS3 and it on the latest and greatest, all
i want to do is embed the youtube video on a page. Any Ideas?
To get to this I did the following: New html file, grab embed
code from any youttube video, paste, save, close, open file again,
allow dreamweaver to add the scripts and change the embed code,
save, upload including the two scripts, open in IE and view a nice
    fat red X...
Please see link below for the example...
    Here is the broken
    code
    Thanks in advance.
    John

It ain't gonna work. In your case, you are falling afoul of
    the script
itself. Here is what you have -
    <div><p>Youttube embed</p><script
    type="text/javascript">
    AC_AX_RunContent(
    'width','425','height','355','src','
    http://www.youtube.com/v/bkeycliUjSg&rel=1&border=0','type','application/x-shockwave-flash ','wmode','transparent','movie','http://www.youtube.com/v/bkeycliUjSg&rel=1&border=0'
    ); //end AC code
Note that the FILENAME for the swf file in that line IS
    MISSING THE "SWF".
This is because DW assumes that you are not going to be
    linking to a file
with URL variables like you have there
    (&rel=1&border=0), and it
automatically inserts the SWF there giving you a bogus link,
    e.g.,
    http://www.youtube.com/v/bkeycliUjSg&rel=1&border=0.swf
    See what I mean?
For something like this, use this method -

  • Read and Write Permissions in Dreamweaver CS3

I have searhed the web endlessly for what seems like a simple question? How do you set read and write permissions for an upload folder in dreamweaver cs3?
I finally came accross one forum which described.
You go to the files panel and change the drop down menu from "Local View" to "Remote View".
Then you select the upload folder you created and right click on it.
A pop up menu appears and you select "set permissions"
This is where I am ok to. My defualt permissions are set to 666. Does anyone know the number to set it to if i would like visitors to my site to be able tp upload files?
ps I am using windows vista and dreamweaver cs3.

My defualt permissions are set to 666. Does anyone know the number to set it to if i would like visitors to my site to be able tp upload files?
Try 775 first, but you will probably need to use 777, which is the least secure set of permissions. Normally, if you want to allow people to upload to your website, you should create a login system and allow only registered users to upload to a folder that has permissions set to such a weak level. Otherwise, you could lay yourself open to all sorts of abuse.

  • Help inserting js into dreamweaver cs3

I have been using MS Publisher (yeah I know) to design my web pages but now I am slowly learning Dreamweaver CS3. I am redoing a site within which I have used some forms created with Coffeecup Webform Bilder. It took me a bit to figure out how to insert the js code in DW but I got it working.  However, the next day when I went to create another page with another CCWFB form I followed the same steps and the form would not work. THEN I went and checked the form from the day before and it was no longer working. I keep seeing "FORM OBJECT" rather than the form. Please help!
    This is a Linux server.
Here is what I have done.
Uploaded all supporting files with CCWFB to the same folder that the web page is located. Also used DW to upload the files just on a lark and no joy.
Double and triple and quadruple checked that the files were in the correct directory. Even loaded them in to other directories just reaching for a solution. No joy.  Also tried testing locally with all supporting files in the same local directory with the same "FORM OBJECT" result.
Inserted the code below that was created with CCWFB into DW via the insert script option.
    <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script><div id="CC6725558">Form Object</div><script type="text/javascript">var so = new SWFObject("msps_application_formdw.swf", "msps_application_formdw.xml", "548", "500", "7,0,0,0", "#ffffff");so.addParam("classid", "clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000");so.addParam("quality", "high");so.addParam("scale", "noscale");so.addParam("salign", "lt");so.addParam("FlashVars", "xmlfile=msps_application_formdw.xml&w=548&h=500");so.write("CC6725558");</script>
Created a CSS that positions the object at the bottom of the page. I have eliminated this step in previous attempts with the same results. Not sure why it would matter really but I have been grasping at straws for two days now.
As mentioned the results are that I get "FORM OBJECT" on the web page rather than the form. It acts like the files are not where they should be. I must be doing something stupid and just don't remember really how I had it working.
    The page is www.mdperfusion.com/joinmsps.html
The script is in the code and the form should be at the bottom of the page.
On another odd note, when I insert PayPal code using noscript it works locally but not when on the server????  Could there be a common factor...other than then noob user ... in these two problems.  Everything elese works perfectly.
Thank you for your help in advance!
    Jim

So here is my code for the page.  Maybe this would help determine why the form is not showing.  The script code is at the bottom of the page.
    Thanks again for looking.
