All of these answers were helpful - I tried the walk throughs but cannot see where I have gone wrong - the link is active but directs to account error message rather than the Lightroom flash gallery folder saved in Sites on iDisc.

Can save to my iDisc sites folder but how do I get Adobe Lightroom to upload a web site page to my .Mac/iDisk web site?
What do I enter in the "Configure FTP File Transfer" window that asks for :
"Server"? web.mac.com
"Username/password" ? "[email protected]" or just "mymacname?" and login password?
"Server path" ? /volumes/dotmacusername/Web/Sites/ (times out if I browse to find path)
Can any one post a work flow/walk through for this newbie?

Joomla is open source and works on the same basis as Drupal. The idea is that you don't download it to your computer, but rather you purchase hosting with a host that supports open source like Joomla and Drupal and you then load it on your server directly from your host and create your site from there.
If you want to add pages created with iWeb to your existing Joomla site, then place a link to the other pages in your Joomla site and then create pages in iWeb, publish to a folder and then upload to your server. Place the iWeb files into your root folder so that they are visible and then the link to the pages from your Joomla site should work.

If depends on what you're using to upload the files. If you use iWeb to ftp the files it can determine what pages in the site are new or modified and upload only those files. To assure iWeb does that I use the File ➙ Upload Site Changes option.
If you use a 3rd party ftp client like the free Cyberduck you can still upload only those new or modified files. This tutorial describes how: #2 - Uploading only those published new or newly edited files when using a 3rd party FTP client.
If you have that many pages, or a lot, it would be more efficient to have multiple sites in multiple domain files. You can link to another site in the navbar by having a totally, blank page titled so as to match a similar page in the other site with the following code in an HTML snippet on the page:

If your site has sections of similar topics they could be in one site in their own domain file. Web Site Maestro can be used to create new domain files to house the various sites and switch between them.

Web Upload into web page done with Apple iWeb

I use Apple's iWeb program to create a web site where I present my photos. I used Lightroom to create a web page which I would like to upload to the website created with iWeb. I would like to know if we can upload a web page created in Lightroom to a website created in Apple iWeb?

An FTP program will let you drag and drop the folder created in Lightroom Web module to your own website. There are many free FTP programs available if you don’t have one. The left hand panel mirrors the folders on your hard drive and the right hand panel mirrors your website when you are logged in (click image below for an example) and you simply drag and drop to your root directory folder. A progress bar at the bottom shows the file being uploaded to your website.
Supposing your site was Groove28.com and you created a Lightroom slideshow saved in a folder called wedding. You would upload the wedding folder using FTP and when complete the slideshow would automatically start when you link to it in a web browser.
The path would be something like:
http://Groove28.com/wedding/index.html
Or
www.Groove28.com/wedding/index.html

How do I get my gallery photo pages in iweb to publish on my site ?

I have recently upgraded to iweb 09 from iweb o6. I have also upgraded from tiger to snow leopard and now have a terabite size hard drive. Iweb was working great before , but now i cannot get my website to upload correctly using ftp fetch. fetch is not the problem as i tried another ftp and had the same problem. My pages that have gallery photos on them will not show. my website is www.naomigrant.com the pages not responding are paintings sold and paintings for sale page. I have uploaded correctly , published correctly and everything looks like it has worked. But when i go to my site the images are not on those two pages. Images are showing in other pages. when i test it in iweb and it says you can visit your site , everything looks good there and you can see the images. So i am totally at a loss as to what to do. I have spent 3 days trying to fix this so far. Can anyone please help me? Should I reinstall i web?

There is no point in re-installing iWeb, because after you have published it really is not an iWeb problem - if there is something not working on uploading the files, then it is really nothing to do with iWeb after html pages have been created.
If you are using Fetch to upload, then you have obviously published your site to a local folder? If so, are the photos there when you look at your local site? If they are there when you publish to a local site, then it is an error in uploading and if photos do not show, it means that some things are not being uploaded to your server correctly.
Have you tried using Cyberduck instead of Fetch? Cyberduck or Transmit are two of the better ftp programmes to try.

How can my students upload pages to a common site?

If I create one .Mac account for my class, can my students work on their individual pages and upload them to a common iWeb site without overwriting each other?

A couple more notes:
-each student's contributions will be considered a separate site, with an address of web.mac.com/username/iWeb/studentsitename
keep in mind that "username" is the username of the .mac account.
-your students must be very careful not to give their site the same name as any other student's site.
-the site of the last student to "publish all" will be the site to appear when the short url (web.mac.com/username) is entered in someone's browser.
A couple of suggestions:
-Create a site index page with links to each student's site. Do a "publish all" on a regular basis to keep this page as the one at the short url.
-Ask your students to use the "publish" (from the File Menu) command rather than "publish all." (Note that I think the "publish" button in the iWeb window will publish all, so this button should be avoided)
-you might also consider asking them to create links to all the other student sites, or at least to the site index page.
-make sure that everyone maintains current backups of their own domain.sites file. If the domain file is lost or damaged, they will not be able to edit their sites. They'll be forced to rebuild them from scratch.
Note: I am assuming that each student will be working with their own domain file. If you need more information about why this is advisable (especially in your case) and how to do this, post a new question and/or see Apnewbie's Site Separation help page.. Note that if you plan to work with individual domains from the start, the process is less complicated. In this case what you need are the instructions near the end for creating a "blank" or "empty" domain for future projects.

Autoforward one page in iWeb site to .Mac gallery?

Does anyone know if there is a way to have one of your iWeb pages autoforward to another site? I would like my "Picture" page in my iWeb site to automatically forward to my .Mac gallery, rather than force people to have to click the link.

Here's another way to do it and it will be automatic, no viewer effort required: add the following code to the head portion of your Pictures page after publishing it:
<meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://www.the-domain-you-want-to-redirect-to.com">.
Replace the “0” with the number of seconds you would like to pass before the redirection takes place. Put in the URL of your destination site.
Any time you make changes to that particular page or use the Publish All to MobileMe you will have to reedit that page. This page demonstrates the effect.
The demo is set to go to another page in the site but you can send the visitor to any URL you desire.

I want to allow a client to upload an image to a page on my web site

I want to allow a client to upload an image to a page on my web site.
I want to be able to retouch that iomage and send it back to my client

We don't have a file upload function in our form widget at this time. What you could do is ask the user to upload the file to adobe send now, dropbox, skydrive, etc. and include a field in your contact form for the file URL so you can access their image.

I add pictures to existing web page using iweb(3.0.1) and new pictures show in all browsers EXCEPT firefox. Previous patches seem only good for iweb 2.X

web page created with iweb (3.0.1). worked great in firefox, then I added additional photos to an existing web page. All other browsers see these new pictures EXCEPT firefox. There seems to have been a previous issue with new pages, but fix appears only fro iweb2.x

Do you see any error messages about getElementsByClassName in the Tools > Error Console ?
That was the problem with content generated with an older version of iWeb.
Content that has been generated with such an older version needs to be regenerated with that never version and uploaded to the web server.
Never versions of iWeb should cause any problems.

To create sub pages, just ensure that the main menu item is in the main menu and then for the sub pages themselves, ensure that they are NOT in the main menu and you link back by creating links instead.
For example, you could use Staff as a main menu item, so Staff would be in the main menu and then descriptions of different staff members would be underneath, but not in the main menu - they would have separate links that you create and then hyperlink.
If you want to make drop down menus in iWeb, as in the site that you linked to, you can't do this directly in iWeb itself. You have to make it and then upload various css files to your web host and link to it in iWeb etc. It is quite a complex task to create drop down menus in iWeb. If you want to do that, then I would suggest that you use a different app instead - take a look at http://www.everwebapp.com.

Aperture web gallery - how to link back to main page from iWeb?

Okay, this may be simple, but I can't figure it out.
I created and uploaded a few web pages with iWeb to my dot.Mac account (web.mac.com/f8lee50) just to get a feel for things. I then created a web gallery with Aperture and uploaded it - naturally Aperture generated a URL for the gallery, which I set up as a link on my "Photos from Hawaii" page (the link is the word 'this' in the second paragraph, if you wawnt to look).
Okay, so this gets me from the "photos from Hawaii" page to the gallery, and within the gallery I can jump to the various images etc. But how does one navigate back to the "Photos from Hawaii" page from whence they came? Is there some sort of smart link that can be inserted (by Aperture?) that will send the viewer back to the main homepage? Or are the Aperture galleries essentially dead ends?

And thank you for the kind words, me100finn. I have not played with any variables as far as layout on the gallery (I did a bunch of stuff with the books, but the web gallery seems far less flexible) so I cannot answer your wuestion about the gray shadows.
Steve, thank you for the additional clarification (and the hint about spaces in URLs) - I guess what this all boils down to is that the web galleries from Aperture are not all that useful when they are meant to be a part of a bigger overall site. I'm not sure of what you meant when you say they have little forward or backward navigation in them - at least you can click on a thumbnail to get to an image, click next or previous or the grid to get back to the thumbnail galery. But, 'twould seem that hand coding HTML pages (the very thing I was hoping to avoid) is the only way to really integrate them. Given that, I gues the better approach will be just to use iWeb to load the images anyway.

The plot ignores blank rows, but they are "ready" for new data:

IE Scolling/Lag issues with IWeb Published Site

Has anyone had any issues with scrolling/lag with Internet Explorer on an iWeb published site? I have a site that runs great on Firefox and safari but terrible on Internet Explorer. I'm thinking it may be the template/design i used?
Anyone every seen this? Any suggestions?

I've only ever used the Modern Frame, so I can't say if there would be a performance issue using a different template. I have about three pictures on each page.
I noticed on your site that you're using the "reflection" effect on some of your pictures. Just for the purpose of testing, perhaps you could try turning off that effect and then re-uploading your site to see if that is causing some of the problem? I believe the reflection is rendered using javascript code, which may be causing the poor performance in IE. If that does turn out to be the problem, you can decide whether it's worth it to keep the effect or not.
By the way, I don't get that same error message in IE when I open your Videos page. Maybe it's caused by a security setting in your IE being set at a more restrictive level?

Is there a way to password protect an iWeb website? I am not using mobile me, I use 1&1.
I need to password protect a page on my website.

Publishing new pages on IWEB

I have created a website and its all worked fine and I have published it to the web. However, when I added new pages and deleted a page in IWEB and went to re-publish the site, the new pages haven't published.
Does anyone know how to get the new added pages published onto the live site?

First, after you upload changes to your site make sure you empty the browser cache before visiting the site.
If you have done this then the question is - where are you publishing your website and how are you uploading the files - iWeb FTP or another FTP application?
