Uploading iphoto book

G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)
I tried today to upload my first ibook. It contained 48 pages of photos most of them 3-5 MB. As it loaded it said it was loading a 7.8 MB total. I canceled the order because it means there is not enough resoluction. What am I doing incorrectly?
Thanks for you input.

I spent hours building my book in iPhoto 6. Now, when I push "Buy Book", nothing happens. No dialog opens, no spinning wheel. Nothing. The button depresses, and nothing. I'm connected to the internet with fiber optic(very fast). 19 photos, 22 pages.
I was getting a message like, "Your book appears to have default text that has not yet been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue with your order?" I'm no longer getting that. Nothing.
What does this mean?
I tried switching computers, still same result. Nothing.
Since for some reason I can't start my own post on this issue I'm replying to this similar post.

  • Unable to upload iPhoto book to print from iPad

I have been unable to upload my iPhoto book to print it from my iPad...
It will go through the process of requesting apple ID password --> verifying my credit card --> then will say "placing order. uploading project"  and look like it is uploading (ie blue bar showing progress) and sometimes this is progressing for hours, but then the app will crash and close down.
Things I've tried/confirmed so far:  I have the up to date versions of iOS and iPhoto, I have it connected to wi-fi and plugged in, I have closed down all other apps on the iPad
Has anyone else had this issue? Any solutions?
Is there a way to upload it from my computer instead? -- I have a PC but have been unable to find the 'book' or photos in iTunes or elsewhere on the computer to even try this...
    Thanks for any help!

You have covered most issues, but you do not mention how much free memory you are having on your iPad. Submitting a book for printing need plenty of free memory on your iPad, about the same amount as the combined size of your photos. Could it be, that you are running out of memory?
Another reason might be an unprintable, corrupted photo in your book.

To order a photo book from Apple you need an Apple computer or an iOS device.
To transfer the photos to your PC see:

  • Cannot upload iphoto book - issues

This has been a recurring problem and to be honest it is very frustrating.  Here is a summary of my issues:
    1. Book upload (generally in most cases is a XLarge, 50+ pages) gets all the way to the end and - "An error occurred uploading your order".  I retry, an hour or two later same thing.  This has happened on my last 8 attempts on 2 different books.
I have tried the following fixes:
    - installing mavericks and new iphoto
    - using hard wired ethernet cable as opposed to wifi
    - doing all the suggested fixes from these forums, plists and all that.
    - my apple ID is fine - works for everyrhing else.
I had a run a little while back when using the ethernet cable that all my books worked, 6+ over a 6 week period Mar-Apr but recently (this last month) back to failure.
*** Apple? What is happening?  No one can find a solution.  Apple over the phone support cannot help, they dont have a fix.  The books are nice, I'd rather not have to go elsewhere, but seriously this is beyond a joke.
    Any suggestions welcome, please......

    Ok,
I solved my own problem and frankly i'm amazed.
I followed some suggested tips like booting in safe mode but I didnt upload the book in that.
I ran a speed test for my internet, my upload was 0.43mbps, fairly standard for ADSL2+ in Australia.  This probably explains why it was taking 2+ hours to upload.  During that time I guess anything can happen with my line, hence the failures if the internet drops out.
I used my iPhone to tether.  I found the place in my housed with the best 4G/LTE reception - 1 bar off full coverage. Began the book upload.  IT TOOK LESS THAN 2 MINUTES to upload an 80 page book.
I still cant believe it.  I'm thankful 4G coverage has recently come to my area.  This will be my method to upload books every time!!
    I'm quite happy.
So my suggestion is that if your books are slow to upload or fail during the process, check your upload speed and if you can tether from an iphone or 4G device, give it a try worked for me - amazingly well.

  • Cannot upload iphoto book

I cannot upload my iphoto book.  No problem last week, but I have made another one and it will not upload.

Details Please - what version of iPhoto and of the OS?
does the preview work correctly? Any error messages?
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
if it does and it will still not upload then boot into safe mode, preview again (fonts can change) and it the preview is still good upload while in safe mode

  • Crash when uploading iphoto book to purchase

I have completed an iphoto book and I went to buy book, and it took me through the log in, payment and shipping info, then when I click to process book, it starts loading and then it just shuts down and closes.  The message only tells me that 'iphoto quit unexpectedly'.  I've tried restarting my laptop and the same thing keeps happening.  Any suggestions?

Try boot into Safe Mode and try again.

  • Error occurred while uploading iPhoto book

I have been trying to upload (buy) a photobook through iPhoto. It builds OK and seems to transfer all the data (60MB) then stops and displays an error message:
"An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your file"
Network is fine and I have tried the following suggestions:
    Rebuild iPhoto
Throttle restricted upload (this seemed counter intuitive but the data tx seemed correct)
    Would appreciate any workable ideas.

If it helps I will also leave you with a few steps I have when it comes to errors in the account >stopping the purchases. If the steps Old Toad said did not help, I am hoping this is what it takes:
    A) Please delete your net services folder. To do so, please follow the path below:
    MacintoshHD ->Library -> Application Support -> NetServices
Single-click on the NetServices folder and delete the entire folder.
    B) Make corrections in Apple Store
    1. Go to the Apple Store online and click Your Account in the navigation bar:
    http://store.apple.com/us
    2. Sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    3. Click "Change account information" on the right and sign in again.
    4. Verify or enter your Billing and Shipping address information.
    5. Delete your credit card information in the Method of Payment section, and then re-enter it. Do >not enter spaces in your credit card number. Click Continue.
    C) Next go back to iPhoto:
    1) Select the "Buy Book" button.
    2) Click on "Account Info" and then "Edit Billing information".
    3) Change the type of card, and then blank out the remaining fields: card number, security code, >and expiration date.
    4) Click "Save".
    5) You should then receive an error that you will need to fill in those fields.
    6) Complete all the fields again and click "Save".
Subsequently, please attempt to submit your order.
Thank you for your patience in this matter. I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks OT. I've done this with no improvement, David H from Apple suggested a similar solution.
I've since copied the iPhoto library to the MacBook Pro and tried to upload from there. I'm now getting a billing error so think I must have made an error when I re-typed. Trying again....

  • Error uploading iphoto book

I am using iphoto 6.0.4. I keep getting an error while trying to upload pictures. It assembles the book okay then always gets stuck at "transferring 119k of 15.1 MB" for a while then an error message pops up saying there was an error with one of the files, try again? If I hit 'try again', it reads 15.1MB of 15.1MB but doesn't ever do anything. I would really like to order a few books but can't seem to get past the ordering page. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi again Tracy,
Before going any further I would create a new user account on your computer and try to send a book from over there. This is help eliminate the possibility that there is something wrong with just your user account.
For instructions on creating a new account go here --> http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh168.html
    If that fails then continue:
I wonder if you have ever been able to order books in the past. It sounds like the upload speed on your internet connection might be too slow for the iphoto print server.
I'm not familiar with "Direcway". Is this cable, dsl, fiberoptic, or satellite?
If its Satellite we can probably stop right here. Satellite internet is NOTORIOUS for having poor upload speeds and intermittent connection quality.
If it is satellite read my following comments and give them a shot just to cover your bases.
If you are running your computer through a router or hub like an Airport Extreme, Linksys, etc. I would recommend plugging your computer directly into the internet (modem or whatever you have in your setup). By bypassing this extra devices you eliminate possible interference from those device and devote as much speed to your computer as possible.
Often ISPs will save cost by giving us high download speeds so we can us web sites with relative ease. But the upload speed (or ability to send data out) is fairly slow.
You have to have a good solid connection (not a lot of packet loss) that is running at a minimum speed of 152 kbps or twice that of a standard telephone modem running 56k.
To test your connection you can go to http://www.dslreports.com/stest this will check your upload and download speed.
Essentially if your upload speed is very low or it looses a lot of data in transit (packet loss) there isn't much you can do on the computer end. Its an issue with your ISP.
If all else fails you may want to use a friends computer to publish your book if they have access to a different connection type. You can also look to see if there is an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Reseller (not to mention an Apple Store, which would be perfect) in your area. http://www.apple.com/buy/
You can copy your iphoto library onto a CD/DVD and take it in. You can then publish from their computer.
    I hope that helps.
Please check back if you need further assistance.
    Cheers!

  • Oops I tried iPhoto books 4x took my money no books

watch out, I have tried for two days to upload books to be printed. It now looks like I have been
charged a lot of money on my credit card and I only wanted to upload one book and print two copies.
If you don't want your VISA to meltdown, don't keep trying to upload iPhoto books and calendars if
you get an 'oops' page.  I hope there is still some room on my card for Christmas. Yikes.

First tell you credit card company you want to challange the charges and get them removed.
This Apple Help page has instructions on returns and refunds: Help - Apple Store (U.S.) but personally I believe it's rather vague on how to contact Apple.
You can try this phone number, 1-800-MY-APPLE, and aske for a product return supervisor and tell your story.

  • How long should it take to upload pictures for iPhoto books

I have created a book for Christmas on iPhoto.  The book is 100 pages.  There are two steps to the process of sending in your order.
    1.  Assembly (which it assembled no problem, under 30 min)
    2.  Upload (it shows a bar and a blue line moves as it uploads)
I have been uploading for 2 days now and I am 1/4 of the way there.  Now while I am waiting for it to upload I cannot do anything with my iPhoto pictures.  Which is a problem since I take pictures for my school and I need to edit pictures by Tuesday.
It states under the "Uploading book to the store...."  Note: Any interruption of the upload process will cancel your order.
I have enough memory that this should not be the problem.  I have turned off every application, restarted my computer, checked for updates.  Nothing helps.  I have had to cancel this order 3 times now and restart the process as I needed to use iPhoto for school projects.
This should not take more than 2 days!  What is going on?  Any help would be wonderful.  Thank you
    Kara
    OS X Yosemitie

Two days is way too long for the upload, unless you are having a very slow Wi-Fi.
There may be a something interfering with your connection to the Print Products Store (Anti virus software, firewalls), or you have included unprintable items.
Is the PDF preview of your book correct? Make a review and check it carefully for missing items, see this help page:
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
If the preview is alright, try to upload your book again in Safe Mode. That will disable non standard extensions, and prevent them from interfering with your connection to the Print Products Store:
See: Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode

  • I almost complete uploading a 32 page iPhoto book, on a number of occasions when I get an error message stating "An error occurred uploading your order" can anyone tell me why and provide a solution please?

I am having problems uploading a photo book from my MacBook Pro!!! I almost complete uploading this 32 page iPhoto book when I get an error message stating "An error occurred uploading your order" This error message has occurred for each of my four attemps to upload. I have carried out a Disk Utility-Verify hard drive check and swapped from wireless to ethernet and still no joy. Can anyone suggest why this might be occurring and provide a solution please?

Boot into Safe Mode and try again.

  • Upload freezes when trying to order an iPhoto book

I've seen that many people have had this problem. I'm trying to order a large (not XL) iPhoto book using my 2012 MacBook Pro. After I click "Buy Book" and enter payment information, the assembly goes well, but it freeezes halfway through the upload every time. I can and have made a pdf of the book following Apple's instructions, and everything worked just fine with that. In other forums, the suggestion is to reboot the computer in safe mode. Is this suggestion only for people who couldn't create a pdf of the book? How will this help with the upload?

ErinWyoming, I'm sharing your pain. I've ordered 3 calendars in the past with no problem. Even using this computer and the same network. Currently on a MacBook Air running OSX 10.8.5.
But this order is driving me nuts. I can create the PDF and it assembles with no problem, but gets to either one of 2 points in the upload and basically freezes iPhoto (so freezes quite early on in the upload, or around half way through). I can't cancel the order, or otherwise use iPhoto and the only way to escape is to Force Quit iPhoto.
I've tried ordering in safe mode, I've tried deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file as instructed elsewhere. I've tried different Apple ID's and different addresses. I've adjusted my energy settings so that the display and computer never go to sleep and my hard disk won't go to sleep. I've tried uploading at different times of the day. I've left it running overnight (just in case I'm not being patient enough). Alas, no order goes through.
I'm not sure what else to try. I'm getting to the end of my tether!! Anyone else got some suggestions?! I'm thinking (God forbid), of constructing the calendar elsewhere at this point .... I'm OVER it!!!!

  • Why am I unable to upload an iPhoto book to the store?

I have created an iPhoto book and have been unable to get it to upload to the store. It assembles fine but an error message appears once it starts to upload.
    I am working on a 27" iMac with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, Lion 10.7.4.
I have taken the following steps to try correcting the problem. Verify Disk, Repair perrmissions and the entire sequence in iPhoto Library Repair.
This is the first book to give me a problem.

I am telling you, I know this from experience. Unless you have made the photo book with one of the fonts in the /System/Library/Fonts folder ( which are the only ones that Safe Mode does not disable ), the font on the book will change. The fonts are the likes of Helvetica and such, so that is not likely.

Like you said, of course you always preview before purchasing. That's what I did, and the pdf looked exactly right. But the books I received had the wrong font, which I could maybe otherwise live with, but the changed font also meant that the texts were cut off in the middle on some pages. So the books are unusable.
Of course this begs the question, since the pdf looked right, is it possible that the problem wasn't caused by Safe Mode but was a simple production error on Apple's end?
This does not make sense, since Apple Support clearly states that Safe Mode disables fonts.
