Uploading mp4 video problem

"One or more settings are unsupported. Open the file in QuickTime Player and export a new file." This is the error message I get when I try to bring a video into iBook author. I have tried different ones ranging from 2 minutes to 20 minutes with same problem.  I opened them in quicktime as suggested and tried to export to itunes. However, the option "IPad, I phone 4 and Apple TV is whited out and says "Not Available."
Is there a fix anyone knows?
Thanks,
Tom

Thanks for the article. It inspired me to look into iMove. If I open the file into iMovie and go to Share/Export Movie/Mobile -- it changes it into m4v and uploads into iBooks author.
Thank you.

  • Uploading MP4 video to iCloud photos fails

I am trying to upload a 25MB MP4 video to iCloud photos yet I keep on receiving an error indicating 'JPEG format only'
I checked that you should be able to upload MP4 videos via iCloud on my PC so I can then view on my iphone 6.
    Can anyone help?

I see this question in a lot of places and in several Apple discussion groups. I've tried a number of the proposed solutions. I have 99GBs to upload. I got about 30GB uploaded twice, but then it kept stalling there (I have plenty of space). The solution that came closest was for me to turn off icloud, shut down Photos, rebuild Photos library (I think it's cntrl + option + double click on Photos icon), then start it all again. This let me get 60GB up fairly quickly, but it's been stuck there for a few days now. I also took my iMac into work and hooked it up to the bigger system there, since many people proposed doing that, assuming that those environments have bigger "pipes."  Anyway, I did all of this, and it's still stuck, uploading maybe one photo every six hours or so.

  • When I upload mp4 videos to my Google Blog from my PC, they are not visible

When I upload mp4 videos to my Google Blog from my PC, they are not visible on my iPad, even though I have no trouble seeing and playing them on my PC. Is there a setting on my iPad causing this?

The question is how are they displayed in the HTML on the Google blog, and/or do they get converted in the upload process. I don't use Google blog, so not familiar with its encoding. You could try an alternate browser such as iCab Mobile or Dolphin.

  • Uploaded mp4 video is not played by swf-player

    Guys,
    can you help me please?
I've uploaded a video produced by Camtasia, but it's not played at all!
    Have a look:
    http://bigcompanyjob.com/guide02-2-4/guide02-2-4.html
You see that the video is being downloaded, but not played.
The player is ARPlayer 1.7. The video is a mp4 file.
The file is perfectly played on a local computer, but after uploading to ftp stops being played. I don't why...
    Could you help me please?
    Thanks!!
    Vadim
    P.S. It's interesting that if I make simply an swf-video file, it's played good: http://bigcompanyjob.com/guide02-2-3/guide02-2-3.html . But I don't like this option, because the swf-video is 30MB vs 5MB of the mp4-video.

Yeah, this is because I have already solved the problem:)
It turned out it's a hosting problem. I put .htaccess file, containing only one line:
    AddType "video/mp4" .mp4
in the folder with video. And it works! Now everything plays good!

  • Premiere Elements 8 & MP4 video problem

    A.T. Romano
Attached is my MP4 video from my Sanyo Xacti. When I perform a "Get Media" in Premiere Elements 8 I only see red cells in the timeline, task panel and playback monitor were red. No video images would display, only sound. Any Ideas?
    Thanks APK

    APK
    SANY0002.MP4
    According the gspot utility
    Video Codec = MPEG-4 Video
    Frame Size: 1280 x 720
Frame Rate: 29.97 frames per second
    Sar = .1778 (16:9)
    Par = 1:1
    Dar = 1.778 (16:9)
Audio Codec = MPEG-4 AAC LC
    48000 Hz 128 kb/s tot, stereo (2/0)
    Premiere Elements 8 Import/Playback
SANY002.MP4 original. Video and Audio imported, but video presented as a bright red matte, but audio was fine.
SANY002.MP4 with file extension changed to .AVI. Video and Audio imported, but video presented as black video, but audio was fine.
    Conversion Workaround Solution
Convert file to DV AVI widescreen (720 x 480 with 16:9 flag)
MPEG Streamclip (free MPEG Streamclip + QuickTime Alternative 1.81 (with free MPEG2 Playback Component) and uninstall regular QuickTime OR free MPEG Streamclip, leave your regular QuickTime installed, and buy the required Apple MPEG2 Playback Component)
    http://www.squared5.com/
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    MPEG Streamclip suggested settings:
File Menu/Open, to bring in your video
    File Menu/Export to AVI
    Then in AVI/DivX Explorer dialog:
    Compressor: Apple DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
    Sound: Uncompressed
Put a dot next to 720 x 480 (DV NTSC)
    Field Dominance: Lower Field First
Up at top right, click on Options, set there for Aspect Ratio = 16:9.
Only if necessary, put a check mark next to Deinterlace Video.
Anything that I did not mention, leave as is.
Finally, click on Make AVI and the job is done quickly and effectively.
This gave great results with your video, and this DV AVI version worked well video and audio wise in Premiere Elements 8.
Your could use the free Prism Video Converter, but the free version is limited to 4:3, and some export types are only available in the purchased version.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
    Prism suggested settings:
    Output format = .avi
Encoder Options = DV Encoder NTSC (Direct Show)
Edit Option = check mark next to Resize Video; uncheck Constrain Proportions; set for 720 x 480.
You could also get a .wmv version from this software. Look into that if you decide to use this converter instead of MPEG Streamclip which is my favorite.
There are lots to explore with your original HD MPEG-4 and its problems with Premiere Elements 8. At one point I had this video on a jump drive. When I went to import the video into Premiere Elements 8 from this jump drive, the Media Downloader was triggered. In the intermediate part of this process, a thumbnail of the video being exported is shown in the Media Downloader Advanced dialog. Interestingly, the thumbnail in the Media Downloader showed the video clearly, but once it got into the Premiere Elements 8 media area—bright red matte looking image in Organizer thumbnail and in the Edit Mode Monitor once the video was dragged to the Timeline.

  • Mp4 video problem

    Hi
I have problem with play mp4 video files. I convert it in Blackberry desktop manager, but It doesnt work. It notices me "unsoported format". I tried so many another video converters, but still the same problem.
    Could anyone help me please???
    Michal

HI and Welcome to the Forums!
When you say you convert in DTM, you mean that you launch Media Manager (from within DTM) and use that to copy and convert the file for optimal playback on your BB?  That is the proper method to do this as you describe. If you uncheck the conversion capability of MM, then it's no better than just copying as a USB drive.
You also could try a newer version of DTM/MM, just make sure that it remains compatible with whatever PIM you are using (if you are synchronizing via DTM with a PIM). 5.0.1 is the most recent version:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
KB05482 Media types supported on the BlackBerry smartphone
Good luck and let us know!

  • Mp4 video problem - choppy

Hi there, I was having problems with viewing MP4 videos (I am using the latest version of Quicktime). The videos were always pixelated and choppy...big time...
Anyways, I've installed 3ivx (www.3ivx.com) for windows and the pixelation is gone.... but the video is still sort of choppy/skipping/lagging.....
I'd apreciate any help with that.
    Thanks,
    popapple

I have heard that the most recent update causes some jerky scrolling in Safari, but apparently it may have affected more than that.
If the problem only started since the most recent software update, it is obviously a software issue. If the same problems occur for all users on the machine after a fresh restart then the only option is to step back to 10.4.6 which I don't really recommend.
You can also try repairing permissions (disk utility is in applications/utilities) and downloading the combo 10.4.7 update and reapplying it.

  • Using Lightroom 5.2 cannot upload mp4 video files to Flickr.

When i used the older Lightroom 3 I was able to upload video files (.mov) to Flickr. Now, with LR5.2 Flickr shows those files as grayed out .mp4 files and do not upload.
Same camera, Canon 7D, so what's happening? Is the problem at Flickr's end? I don't think so.

Seventy nine viewers and not a single comment. Surely there must be some experts out there?

  • Large MP4 videos problem on Nokia X6 16Gb

I just bought an X6 to replace my N95. Previously I converted lots of my DVDs full movies to MP4 (using Handbrake) and they all ran great on my Nokia N95.
Really useful when stuck in airports!
So I was looking forward to the X6 with it's larger screen. I loaded some of my MP4s to it - but none play - the device simply refuses to play them. I checked the files aren't damaged - I can play them from the phone memory on my PC using the USB link.
A typical full movie I've converted comes out at around 700Mb.
What if anything am I doing wrong? I normally use the Handbrake presets which are suggested for the iPod.
Is there an alternative video player I can install on my X6?

Tried Smart Movie, and still will not play but reveals that some of the problems may be due to RealPlayer not supporting AVC1 codec (ie. Apple's version of MPEG for iPhone).
So with iPhone dominance it looks like any podcasts specifically coded for the iPhone (and they are on the increase) means that the X6 at least misses out yet again.
My trusty old 6303 plays fine however so why on earth did Nokia introduce a less compatible video player for the X6 which is a much higher spec phone?
Nokia please help us loyal customers and sort out the compatibility issues. Please add the AVC1 codec in the next phone or Real player update. Please.
Any moderator or Nokia employee looking at this can we have a comment?
    Many thanks

  • Importing MP4 video PROBLEM

The probvlem is I can't the itunes says there is an error and must shut down and do I want to send a report....
why can't I import a short video to my ipod video?

File formats in video are deceptive. Not all mp4 are the same, neither are all movs or avis etc. Really they're containers for a wide variety of Codecs. So, it;s quite possible that the two different devices produce their mp4s with different Codecs.
    Try install Perian

  • How can you upload mp4 videos to Facebook for autoplay?

We would like videos exported from our app to play automatically inside newsfeeds on mobile. Instagram and Cinemagram seems to have this working.
We had some trouble finding documentation from Facebook, but would love to implement this feature in our iPhone app "PixtaCam."

What you mean is actually downloading a video from Youtube and then uploading it to Facebook. No this can't be done with the iPad.
As far as I know Youtube's terms and condictions don't allow you to download videos, and I know that Apple does not allow any apps that do so.

  • Possible to play mp4 video uploaded to CC storage from my ipad?

Uploaded mp4 video to my cloud storage for a client to review on ipad. Can't seem to play the video or download it though the ipad. Any ideas?

I don't know which one to suggest, but I think you need a program forum for whatever Adobe apps you have on your ipad... maybe the digital editions forum or the touch apps forum?
The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process
If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll

  • What version of firefox will support mp4 video tags without plug ins or extensions?

I have a web site that my users upload mp4 videos to my website. I use html 5 and use the video tags type movie/mp4.
The only browser that has worked without any add ins, plug ins or extensions is safari 4.x and safari 5.x with quicktime. What version of firefox will support playing mp4 videos without any add ins or extensions?

That will probably not happen if there are codecs used that require a license.

  • Problem with Premiere Elements 11 uploading mp4 files

I tried to upload a video footage for editing. The video was taken using a GoPro camera and the output is mP4. The footage playback on Premiere Elements 11 was choppy and stalled often. I asked someone else with the same program and he experienced the same issue- so much so that he quit using Adobe's software and switched to Mac/iMovie. Any thought on why or how to fix the problem? I emailed Adobe support a couple of times for the problems encountered in both Premiere and Photoshop but have gotten no response from them. Thanks.

    Gumbie10
Appreciated the follow up. Would like to offer some considerations....
    1. If you are looking at choppy video, then you must be on the Premiere Elements 11 Expert Timeline or Quick Filmstrip in order to see the choppy video in the Edit Mode monitor. Consequently, to see the video you had to import it.
    a. How did you import it? Add Media/Files and Folders to get the files into Project Assets from where you dragged the files to the Expert Timeline. (In the Quick Filmstrip route, there is no Project Assets intermediary. It is Add Media/Files and Folder/with direct to one of the scenes in the Filmstrip).
    b. Once you had the files on the Expert Timeline or Quick Filmstrip, did you render the files there by hitting the Render button or by hitting the Enter key of the computer main keyboard?
    2. Premiere Elements 11 automatically takes over setting up the project preset for a new project. The project preset should match the properties of the source media. Sometimes it does the set OK; sometimes, not. Check to see what the program has set if you did not set the project preset yourself manually. (Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, and Frame Size.)
    3. If you are using the GoPro Hero 3 Black at the 1080p set, then the video codec (compression) is AVCHD (MPEG4 AVC/.H264). The question becomes at what frame rate...30, 60, or other progressive frames per second. From what you wrote, apparently what you have has a .mp4 file extension (that is what is called the container, the format that wraps the video and audio compressions).
    4. Then we come to the matter of your photos. What are the pixel dimensions that you are trying to use for this Premiere Elements project? Have you gotten to importing the photos or is it only the videos that you have tried to import into a Premiere Elements 11 project?
    Please review the above.
But, I am also concerned about
Meantime, for still images, I did my editing on PS Element 11 and used Live Movie Maker to put together the video. It works for me. I had trouble with the output (to burn DVD/Cd and to upload to PS showcase) in the PS Element as well.
Thanks again for the input. I'll give an update later.
Do you want two separate projects, one for video and one for stills or is all that a workaround for overall issues.?
Please do not hesitate to ask for clarification on anything that I have written. I will rewrite if necessary so that we are in sync.
The answers are in the details.
    More later.
