Uploading photo is grayed out

I just upgraded to iPhoto 8 and now when I try to upload a photo on a website, the PICTURE folder, which used to open to subfolders and eventually to the specific photo, is grayed out and not activated. I can locate the photo using the disk utility (desktop of disk icon), but know I have to use "Open Package Content", which I never had to do before either.
An suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks you.

Yes, with iPhoto 08 the library is now a package file.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS You will then be able to drag from the Media Browser to the attach window in the Web Browser or email client.
Otherwise:
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
Also, for 10.5 users: If you use the extended Open or Attach dialogue (with Column View) you can scroll to the bottom of the Shortcuts and find the Media browser there. Select any pic you want from there.
Regards
TD

  • Why is my Photos button grayed out on iCloud control panel - PC

I cannot photo share between my PC, windows 7, and my ipad. I have icloud 3.1 and have gone through the trouble shooting steps. None of which mention what to do if the entire Photos box; including the check box, Photos title and icon and the options box are grayed out and unavailable to check or click on. I have plenty of storage, 14 GB available and my iphone and ipad share correctly. Also my contacts, calenders and tasks as well as bookmarks are working corrently.
    Please help!

    yes, same here.
i've replied to another thread with this issue, too. other people over there complain about it as well.
wifi signal won't turn on on iphone4s.
i have the same problem, but noone from apple has responded so far or adressed this.
i guess all you can do right now is wait for the next update, which should come in a few days.
    it's REALLY frustrating...!

  • Photo Settings Grayed Out

I am creating about a 20 minute photo slide show with music. Suddenly, in the middle of working on the project, the "Show Photo Settings" button has grayed out for all but those photos that have the Ken Burns effect. The only way I can get it back is to delete the photo and reimport a new photo. That could get tedious with 200 photos. Is there any other way to fix this?

Yes, I think you've nailed it. When we send an iMovie project to iDVD, iMovie will offer to render any UNrendered photo clips. That includes photos imported with the Ken Burns checkbox OFF. (Those imported with the Ken Burns checkbox ON are rendered by Ken Burns, so iMovie won't ask to render them again.)
After iMovie renders them on their way to iDVD, those clips are no longer editable with the Photo Settings window. So that would explain the behavior you see.
There's another problem. There's a bug in iMovie that renders the photos with very poor quality when rendering it for iDVD. Photos acquire the "jaggies". Photos with certain kinds of content — straight lines, lap siding on buildings, roof lines, power lines — can look pretty terrible.
Once those photos have been damaged, the only way to repair them is to re-import the photos.
The jaggies can be avoided by doing any ONE of the following:
    1. When iMovie asks permission to render the images for iDVD, do NOT grant permission. Then iDVD will render the photos.
    2. Turn the Ken Burns checkbox ON when importing the image. Then Ken Burns will render them and iMovie won't ask later. (Note that Ken Burns can be set to have no zoom or pan. It looks like a still image, but it has been rendered into a clip.
    3. Instead of Sharing the project with iDVD, use iDVD to import the iMovie project to the iDVD project. (Dragging the iMovie project into the iDVD project window is one way to import it.)

  • Why are all of the toolbar buttons (like the photo button) grayed out in my project?

How can I get to the pictures in my iphoto library if this button doesn't work? imovie11 9.0.8

I'm assuming you are working on a Trailer in iMovie (not a standard project). Unfortunately, the templates accept video only - not photos or stills. That's why the Photo Browser is greyed out when you are working with Trailers.
A way around this is to convert the Trailer to a standard project. Then you will be able to add photos/stills, and perform other edits as desired.
To convert the Trailer, select "File > Convert to Project" from the menu. Before doing this, it's best to duplicate the Trailer so that all your original edits are intact in the Trailer format. To duplicate, while in Project Library view, click on the Trailer name then select "File > Duplicate Project" from the menu. Use the duplicate to do the conversion.
Duplicating won't use up much extra space on the hard drive. Projects reference the clips in the associated Event (or Events) - the clips are not copied. The project file also keeps track of titles, transitions, effects, voiceovers, music, edits you've made and so forth - these are text based and use little space.

  • Several months ago I kept getting prompted to "update" my iphoto library.  I finally gave in and clicked on the update button and EVER SINCE THEN,  ALL of my photos have been 'grayed out' and I can't see ANY of them unless I click on the photo and open it

Several months ago,  I kept getting prompted to 'update' my iphoto library.  When I finally clicked on the 'update' button,  it 'greyed out' ALL of my photos.  Now ALL of my photos are grayed out and I can't see ANY of my pictures unless I click on each grayed out photo individually and open them,  ALL of the thumbnails are greyed out.  It is THE WORST!!  I have no idea how to fix this problem and its been MONTHS AND MONTHS of *** pain.  Anyone??  Please help!!!
    Thanks so much!!!

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database
and please tell us what version of iPhoto and of the OS you have

  • "Move" option grayed out for Import to Aperture Library?

I tried to import photos from an external hard drive and "Store Files in the Aperture Library," but the options to Move or Copy the photos were grayed out and unavailable. If I chose to import to the Pictures folder, the options were available. But both "in the Aperture Library" and "in their Current Location" (which makes sense) were unavailable.
Any idea why? The manual is no help.

I think you will find that the only place you are meant to have the option of "Move" vs "Copy" is in the import to either "Pictures" or "Choose" options. Reading through the manual the only time these teo options are mentioned is when discussing these two import to location choices. The default for "In the Aperture Library" is that they are copied. This is handy in that you have a copy of the files that you are able to backup/archive refer to if something goes awry during the import process, yes it can happen.

  • Ovi Suite Pictures - Thumbnails Grayed Out

All of a sudden, Ovi Suite only shows my photos as "grayed out" icons rather than the thumbnail.
Not sure what has happened. Anyone see this? Better yet, anyone have a fix?
    Thanks!
    DZ

    HAHAHAH LOL
I used the Installation repair (started from Windows 7 uninstall programs in the control panels,) and now the Album Art is gone as well as the thumbnails for my photos.
I am currently downloading the full installer. I'll uninstall and reinstall and see what happens.
p.s. - This problem is with Ovi 2.1.1.1, Windows 7 home (licensed), N97

  • I am no longer able to upload photos from iphoto to Facebook. The "publish" button is now "grayed out."  Any suggestions?

I am no longer able to upload photos from iphoto to Facebook. The "publish" button is now "grayed out."  Any suggestions?

The window doesn't automatically pop up now. When you plug the card reader in, you should see a 4th option on the lower bar of the photos app. I think it says camera. Tap on that then you can see and inport your photos.
If you are still having issues, try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. It won't hurt any data but can clear gliches.

  • I can't upload my photos from iPhoto to facebook.  The "publish" button is grayed out.

I can't upload my photos from iPhoto to facebook.  The "publish" button is grayed out.  I was able to do it in the past.  Help! Thank you.

I try to order the album of my wedding and can't upload it on the final step after having complete everything.
Is it too big ? what can be the issue ?
What happens when you try to upload the album? Are there any error messages?
Which iPhoto version are you using?
Are you ordering from the correct Print Products Store for your country?  Check the settings in iPhoto > Preferences > Advanced:

  • Why do I not have the option (the choose file option is grayed out) to upload pictures to more than a few places I have tried

I am having a problem uploading photos to basically every place but Facebook. I have contacted these sites and they give instruction on how to do it but the "choose file" button is grayed out on some, OR it says, "if your device doesn't have the capability to upload send your pictures to us. I am assuming u can't upload pictures with iPad 2? Or is it just me.....more than one site doing this, is there a setting somewhere?
    Thanks :)

I can't find an app, but was also wondering is there a third party service like photobucket that would work on the ones that don't have an app?

  • Delete photos on icloud trash can grayed out

I am desperate to delete old duplicate and junk photos from my istream, or whatever it's called, where my photos are stored on the icloud. When I follow apple's instructions, the trash can button is grayed out. Same thing happens in my husband's iphone. Checked settings. Look ok. I need to clean out the tons of old stuff so I can upload current photos. Help appreciated. I am NOT an Apple expert so step by step help appreciated. Have iphone4 with ios 6.

Unless you have photos on some other service, like Dropbox, or you have a special photo app on the device that keeps its own copies of photos and possibly uses icloud to store them (not likely), icloud does not store your photos unless they are part of a backup.  If you see them on the iphone, then they are stored on the iphone.
To get photos that were synced to the device from a computer (using itunes), then use itunes again and deselect the photos you don't want synced.  Then sync the device with itunes and the photos will be deleted from the device.

  • I'm new to Mac and cannot figure out how to upload photo's from my iPhoto library to eBay for the purpose of selling. Can anyone help?

I'm a seller on eBay and very new to Mac. I just started to list an item when I got to the area of uploading  pictures of an item to my listing. I cannot figure out how this is done. I downloaded pictures from my camera to iPhoto and they apear not only in my iPhoto library but in an eBay folder/album I created. When I go to upload photos I cannot find my photos in either the Library or the eBay album. I've tried using both the basic uploader and and standard uploader choices provided by eBay.

While running iPhoto you'll need to select the pictures you want to use for eBay and then select Export from the File menu. The Export Dialog box has several options and I believe the second option is File Export - that's the option you want to choose. Now you can select the picture quality, size, and export. The file selector will appear so you can indicate the folder you want the pictures to be exported into. Now you can take the next step, sending them to eBay.
