Uploading photos - always makes the photos smaller for some reason
I have attempted to upload my photos from iphoto to print sites such as fotki.com. I was successful at doing this until I bought iLife 2006. Since I upgraded iphoto now when I upload the photos it uploads the photos in low resolution like 180x240 which is NOT suitable for printing. I have tried to get fotki.com to help but they say I'm uploading low resolution photos - its not their site's fault. I have tried to figure it out on my Apple but can't seem to figure it out. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

That's true. iPhoto stores the comments and keywords in the Libary6.iPhoto database file. There is a way, a one time use of a demo version of iView MediaPro, to write the keywords and comments to the original file. Otherwise, what's assigned in iPhoto stays in iPhoto.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. I just noticed that I can no longer select photos out of my finder that are located in my Aperture/Iphoto Library. I used to be able to attach photos to my gmail out of the aperture library in the finder and for some reason, no longer can.
I can't access these images except to go into the applications.
Also, I'd like to import my iphoto library into aperture, and move aperture library to an external drive. I tried the import first, but there wasn't enough space. Then I tried copying over the aperture library onto the external drive but it failed bc it said file was in use.
As it is, I only have 50gb left on my imac, and the aperture library is 150gb. Also, I have over 10k images in both libraries combined and there are tons of duplicates that need to be sorted, and hopefully not messed up because I've organized most of them.
So in short, I need to know how to do the following:
-select photos in finder in aperture/iphoto libraries
-move aperture library to live on external drive
-import iphoto library into aperture library
-eliminate dups but maintain organization
-moving forward i need a better workflow so that I import images from camera, and can organize right away into albums rather than creating projects by default and then creating albums so essentially the photos are in 2 different places, even tho they are referenced
-live happily ever after
Thanks in advance for any support you can offer!!If you're using apps like iPhoto or Aperture then they replace the Finder for managing your photos. The point is that you use the (many) options available via these apps for the things you want and need to do with the Photos.
So, simply, you don't select the photos in the Finder. I'll append the supported ways to do this - which are faster and will yield the current version of your Photos - to the end of this post.

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit Aperture
2. Copy the Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching Aperture. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Referenced - relocate your Masters first.
These issues are covered in the Manual and on this forum hundreds of times.

You can't. Every photo is in a Project. They’re the basic building blocks of the Library.
You might want to spend a little time with the manual or the video tutorials. I'm not sure you've grasped the app you've purchased.
The following is written for iPhoto, but about 97% works for Aperture too.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto/ APerture: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics. This is what you use to attach your shot to your GMail
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto/ Aperture.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto/ Aperture not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.

The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it.
I have gone in and tried to change the settings of the files to read/write and put in my password but then I get the " The following files could not be imported (they may be unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)" error message?

These Unable to Import and Locked Library messages are common symptoms of a damaged database file. As iPhoto Library Manager is unable to rectify the situation you'll need to do a Manual Rebuild as described in this article

When I open a file it normally opens in 12.5% stated on the header. For some reason, it now opens with 100+% on the header and is much smaller in size. How do I go back to the first option I noted? I use AP to work on blueprints for measuring so the accuracy matters. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Are the image all the same size the % files open into a document seems to vary with the number of pixels the image being opened has. Check the Image size.

Went through this step-by-step, but alas it did not solve the problem. For some reason I can download mail on my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but no my iMac. Connection Doctor shows all green lights. This started today when I was prompted to re-enter incoming mail server passwords. I re-entered passowrds yet again to make sure they were correct. Rebuilt the inBox. Connection Doctor continues to show all green lights, but am still unable to download mail to the inbox. Has anyone else ever run into this problem?
I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2. My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone). I was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.

I just bought a new printer for my iMac version 10.7 Lion but I am able to install the software but for some reason I am not able to view the printer under system preferences to add the printer. It is connected with the USB cord!! It as if the printer does not show up in the add printer section under system prefernces!!
I checked the manufacturer and apple site to see if my printer is supprted and it said it was!! I am using the HP officedeskjet 4500 G510a-f (HP Officejet 4500 Desktop)!! Still does not show up under add printers please help!!

I've been producing a podcast for a while now, and just recently had this problem. I've updated the rss feed and loaded new episodes to the podcast, but for some reason the episodes are showing up in the iTunes store when you search for the podcast, but the "Podcasts" app on my iPhone isn't updating, and neither is my subscription to the podcast in my iTunes software.
Can anyone tell me my why the store has my latest episodes, but my subscriptions don't update and add them?That is the correct feed URL.
The title for the episode of 4th February has an ampersand ('&') in it. You can't have an ampersand in an XML file such as a feed because it indicates the start of a code sequence which is never completed, thus rendering the entire feed unreadable in same readers. I'm surprised that the Store is coping with it - evidently the programming recognizes that it's within a tag; the iTunes application, which is a different program, isn't and so is showing no episodes as it can't read the feed.
You need either to replace the ampersand with the code
&
or the word 'and'. -
Alright, I've had this problem for a while now, and I'm at my wit's end. Hope someone can help me.
First of all, I'm running Windows 8.0 on a Lenovo, using iTunes 11.1.5, and an iPhone on iOS 7.0.6.
Problem is, when I plug my iPhone 5 into my computer, the computer recognizes the iPhone, but for some reason, iTunes doesn't realize it's there. On top of that, every time I plug in, my phone gives me the same "Trust this computer?" prompt, like it doesnt recognize the computer I told it to trust 5 seconds ago. A couple times, I got lucky and iTunes dignified me with a "An iPhone has been detected, but could not be identified properly." prompt. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mobile device driver, updating everything, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, resetting my iphone settings, but nothing works. My volume is greyed out when I turn on the Mac, but for some reason it works again when I turn on bluetooth. Nothing in system prefs changes this??? Its all very random and sometimes I do not have this problem at all or it is fixed again when I restart the Mac.
please let me know if you figure out how to do correct it because mine has exacly the same problem.

When i load up Photoshop CS6 it loads up the Administrators Account for some reason and it is quiet irritating if someone can help please respond as i would like to continue using Photoshop.
If you are using someone else's computer, then you need to get the Admin to sign in so you can run PS.
If it's your own computer, then you need to know the Admin's password so you can work. Better yet, YOU need to be the Admin. -
Cannot access the iCloud mail for some reason I don´t know. Worked perfect until Nov 28th, but a message with "incorrect ID/password" popped up. Contacts and iCal is accessible. Have tried from iPad, Mac, iPhone and PC. Any recommendations?
Reset your password. Be sure your new one meets the requirements for length (8) and characters (at least one upper case and one number).

I am editing a bunch of wedding photos. Everything has been fine until today..... I opened up the folder, and for some of the edited photos, I have to double click in order to see the edited version. So, when I look at all the photos in the browser, some of then show my changes..... others don't. I'm worried, because I will have to post them for the bride, and I am concerned about why this is happening. I still have the images on the memory card and also have a duplicate of all the photos in iphoto..... but I've spent hours editing these photos...... and I really don't want to start all over again.

I like to know if somebody has a laptop with windows 8.1 installed and has a recovery partition in the case of reinstalling windows 8.1. somebody has erased all harddisk with low level format for some reason.
now this man has no more 8.1 to reinstall it. I have my self the dvd of this version of windows 8.1 or suppose the trial version ,
if I install the windows from my dvd (or the trial version )and activate it with his product key which is on his laptop voor his 8.1 version.
is this action illegal or not ? if this action is illegal i like to know why?

h.davidIf a proper license is held for the product, MS do say that you can use any legitimately-acquired media to re-install.
If the computer originally shipped with a manufacturer-supplied copy of Windows (OEM), then only the media from the OEM should be used. This might require him to purchase a set of recovery discs or USB from the OEM.
It may be possible to retrieve/download a copy of Windows 8.0 or 8.1 from the MS website, with only a product key, but, it is common for modern computers sold now, that there is no visible product key (instead, the key is stored in firmware)

Export reports views doesn't work
export the report view's in a file doesn't work. The file is created but still empty. Workaround is to get the sql and execute it in worksheet edit and cut and past the result in a excel sheet. It woul be better if the export works fine.
