Uploading Quicktime Video in GoLIve

I've created a GoLive Page and added a QuickTime video. When I upload the page to my server/host, it stops on #3. I finally just cancel because it never finishes uploading.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks,
Jennifer

GoLive 8.0.1

When I say to upload the GL page, a dialogue box titled "Synchronize" comes up. It also has "Uploading: (name of Quicktime movie) then "3".
There is also a blue status bar that fills up about 1/3.
The Quicktime movie is 44MB, originally made in iMovie and uploaded to iDVD where it's 980MB.
I'm uploading by clicking the upload "arrow" on the GL toolbar. And yes, I've tried different times of the day, but always stop because it never finishes.
I don't know how to tell if it's the movie, or something in GL.

  • Can't get Quicktime videos to play once uploaded - using iWeb 08

Please help. I just updated my work website and uploaded a few quicktime videos of my TV spots. These same spots were uploaded and played fine on my last website update last year. But this time around, they're not working so well. Once uploaded, if you click on the controls under the screen, they don't respond. If you double-click the actual screen, the video starts and stops playing.
How can I get my quicktime videos to play like they're supposed to on my site? I'm using iWeb 08 and my version of Safari is 5.0.2.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked. However, it's three different videos on three different pages, and each video is pretty much the only thing on each page.
That would be great if you would take the time to access my site and see if you can find what the problem is. My URL is www.haleyturner.com. Click on the first square, the second square, and the last square to access the quicktime video pages.

    Hi,
OK. Following instructions, I've uninstalled the old Flash Player and installed the right one, and videos are now playing. Thanks for pointing me to the other posts on this site. YouTube and other videos are now playing
Some of the videos still play jerkily (they don't stream evenly). A few stream evenly once they've been allowed to buffer fully. (I think I'm using these terrms correctly.) Is this solely caused by low bandwidth, or is there something—an adjustment of some kind—that I can do with Flash Player to have online videos stream evenly, even from the moment I start them?
As I mentioned, to bypass this uneven streaming while watching online, I download the videos and watch them usually using Quicktime Player 7.6.4. Still, they don't always play evenly, but for the most part do.
I've just tested bandwidth and I'm told:
    5.63 Bbps Download speed
    0.63 Mbps Upload speep

A warm welcome to Apple discussions!
A 2003 iMac cannot support Snow Leopard 10.6; you'd need an Intel processor and that cannot be retrofitted to your Mac. What does "About this Mac" in your Apple menu say  for your processor speed? What does it say about how much RAM you have?
If the processor is 1ghz or faster, you can run OS 10.5; otherwise, you are maxed out at 10.4.11.
Also, are you running any commercial ("pay for") anti-virus or security software? They are notorious for slowing most Macs to a fraction of their speed potential.
A too-full hard drive can drag down performance, especially if you don't have a lot of physical RAM installed. If you single-click your hard drive icon and then do command i, you'll see the disk usage. Looks like this:
The value for "Used" should be no more than about 90 percent of "Capacity." In the example image, that drive has about 34 percent of its space used and 66 percent free--more than enough. Please post what you see for your Capacity and Used numbers
There are a few more things we might check but this is a good start.
    Awaiting your information,
    Allan

  • How to upload a QuickTime video

    Hello,
I had asked this question some time ago, but I still do not
know, how to do this. I would like to have a button on my web page,
which would (on click) open a new pop up window with embeded
QuickTime video clip. I would like to be able to control the color
or texture of the background and dimensions of this window, lets
say 400x300. Could anyone tell me, how to do this? Someone has told
me, that I need to create a "container". But how?
Thanks for any advise or input.

  • How to Upload a video from my Mac Quicktime to YouTube?

I am trying to upload a video to YouTube. The original video was shot on a canon point and shoot and is AVI. It downloaded into iPhoto. I exported it to my desktop and then saved it using the QT "Save As" and also the "Save for Web" options. Then clicked "Share" in each instance, selected YouTube and both scenarios failed to upload.
I am obviously doing something wrong. Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

  • How to open and burn some QuickTime videos?

A friend uploaded some Quicktime videos for me and I've tried to save them to my desktop by using file>save as. But then, the desktop icon won't open, and I haven't a clue as to how to burn them even if I could play them:-(
    TIA!!

If you use a DVD and burn it all you will be doing is copying the movie file. You will not be able to play it on your DVD player (if that's what you want to do). To recode the movie to play on a player or through DVD Player on your Mac you need a program like Toast Titanium. Other than that you can insert a blank DVD into the optical drive and burn a copy of the movie.

  • Unable to import Quicktime video into iMovie

I've been uploading some music videos to YouTube that were taken from various self-recorded DVD's. I've been using DVDxDV software to convert the DVD's to a QuickTime file, then importing the QT files into iMovie for editing and compressing. With the latest DVD, I get it into Quicktime OK and can WATCH the QT movie OK, but when trying to import to iMovie, get the message "Error during Import File could not be imported: Unknown Error" with two of the three files (the first file went fine, and I've alreading uploaded it to YouTube).
I can't figure out what is different between .mov1 (which works OK) and .mov2 & .mov3 (where I get the Error messages). BTW, I just have the basic Quicktime software that came with the computer; I'm considering buying the QT Pro so I can edit & compress in QT without having to import into iMovie.
Wonder if that would solve the problem???
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for trying to help---it's hard to diagnose problems long distance and I probably didn't describe the situation as well as I could.
The DVD in question deals with two programs that aired on ABC in the aftermath of singer Marc Cohn being shot in a carjacking/assault last year: someone was nice enough to record the programs and send a DVD copy to me, so I wanted to upload the video to YouTube for some other Marc Cohn fans. So there shouldn't be any copy protection involved.
I kept the same export settings when using DVDxDV for both programs and ended up with three .mov Quicktime files: .mov1 imported into iMovie fine, I compressed it and uploaded to YouTube already. The problem lies with .mov2 & .mov3 where I get the "Error during import" message even though
the same procedure was followed as far as I know.
I've uploaded 42 videos to YouTube and all were from DVD's recorded off TV, using DVDxDV >QuickTime>iMovie, so I thought I knew the ropes by now.
As I said in the original post, I may end up upgrading to Quicktime Pro so I can edit & compress without even using iMovie---not really SOLVING the problem, but just avoiding it.
Once again, thanks for your help.

  • Quicktime video (.mov file) will not load and play in Firefox 3.6.16

I have a computer with Firefox 3.6.16 installed that will not play Quicktime videos (.mov files) in the browser. This is a desktop computer.
Another computer (laptop) with exactly the same version of Firefox installed will load and play them perfectly in the Quicktime player.
Both computers have Quicktime addin 7.6.9.0 installed and designated as the default application for Quicktime movies.
Both computers play the videos correctly in IE 8.
When attempting to play the video in Firefox, the player window opens and attempts to load the video, but soon seems to freeze leaving a black window open where the player should be.
From what I have observed, this seems to be a problem related specifically to this computer, and since the video plays in IE I have ruled out the firewall blocking loading from the site.

Hi, I've exactly the same problem, 'cept I've XP Pro. When I say exactly, I mean the format used is HDV 1080i60, along with everything else there.
And I'm right there with you. Why Quicktime can't play a natively encoded HDV Quicktime file (using Final Cut Pro), is beyond me, but basically, I've used K-Lite Codec Pack, and Quicktime. Neither work, although Quicktime does ask for internet connectivity to download resources or something similar (I don't have Internet Access at home). I've used VLC on a friend's PC, and, while it works, there is a very strange, and irritating flicker where there's heavy movement
Where can I get the resource needed, as another party needs to view the clip, and they already have it. So if they can update their codec library or similar, then that would be much better (as I wouldn't need to upload a FullHD Video again)
    thanks

  • Quicktime Video Halting on web

I have uploaded a video to my website.. I want to do a basic HTTP stream. The video works just fine in Firefox.. it streams perfectly.. but when I open it in IE, it halts at loading in random spots each time I refresh. The video never fully loads in IE.
http://www.skrubed.com/test.htm - This is a link to my video.. it is using the Sorenson 3 codec.
If anyone can spot some problems, please let me know.
      Windows XP Pro

Now I'm getting QuickTime with a question mark (PC hasn't timed out yet, so not sure what it'll get).
What I'd do now is to create a link to the QuickTime movie... ok, THAT was wacky...
I was going to suggest that you just create a link to the .mov file to see if there's some code somewhere on that page that's causing a problem. I noticed that on the top each movie page you have an option to click to download. Well, just clicking on those open the videos in a plain white window and that problem movie played just fine. Then, of course, when I went back a page, the movie was able to play.
SO, since this is only a test page, I'd remove all the descriptive tags first to see if that makes it load (it'll be too small and won't autoplay, but we just want to see if it works). So remove controller, scale, autoplay, cache, and playeveryframe. Download the application from here
    http://www.qtbridge.com/pageot/pageot.html
To help you switch quickly between tag settings. If all of them off works, then turn them back on one by one. I'm leaving work, so I won't be able to try on a PC until tomorrow, but give it a shot!

  • Uploading Hi8 Videos into Final Cut Express

    Hi,
I am having trouble uploading H8 video files into Final Cut Express.
    What I have is:
    Sony Player SLV-T2000
    Canopus didital converter ADVC-100
I have connected the rca cables from the player to the digital recorder and then the firewire cable from the digital converter to the Macbook Pro. Also the digital convertor is set for analogue in.
When I play the Hi8 tape I can see the video in the viewer but it will not capture.
Can someone advice me where I am going wrong.

    Hi
May be You find something here (it's not only for iMovie but FCE/P too)
    NO CAMERA or A/D-box
    Cable
    • Are You sure that You are using the FireWire Cable - USB-Cable will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin (or 9-pin) FW one ?
    • Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
    Camera
    • Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
    • Toggle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on <-> off some times)
    • Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
    • Camera connected to "charger" (mains adaptor) - not just on battery
    • Camera set in Playback mode - NOT Recording mode
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK e.g. recording and playback to TV)
    A/D-box
    • Is the dip-switches set right ?
    • Set to same standard as recorded/editing e.g. NTSC 29.97fps or PAL 25fps
    • Try resetting it
    Connections
    • Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
    • FireWire-port - Can be re-setted by - Turn off Mac and disconnecting Mac from Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes
    External device’s (hard disk’s)
    • Should be FireWire as USB/USB2 performs badly and so does Airport or Net-work connected ones too.
    • MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - DO NOT WORK for video due to 4Gb barrier.
    Mac
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
    (Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited. No Camera or A/D-box
    • GarageBands fix - Close iMovie, Open GarageBand, Play some notes, Close GB and iMove can now be OK
    • Does Your Mac have a FireWire Port
    • White MacBooks - don't
    • MacBook-Air - don't
if not then a few Mac’s has a PCM-CIA slot and there are FW-Cards that makes a FW-port this way
    else - NO SOLUTION
Only option as I get it is either
    • Use another Mac to Capture material (to an external USB2 - Mac OS Extended formatted hard disk - or -
    • Change to another Camera that can be used with Your Mac (no there are no miniDV tape Cameras that can)
    • If Your Mac-Book has a PCM-CIA Card place - then there are FW-port-Cards and then
You can import via this - but I've not seen this on more modern Macs. My PowerBook G4
has one and this FW-Card-port works greatly.
    SoftWare
    • Delete iMovie pref. file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
    • Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
    • FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
    • Screen Saver - OFF
    • Energy Saver - OFF
    Using WHAT versions ? .
    • Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
    • QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
    • iMovie’08 (7.1.?), 09 or 11 ?
    • iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
Other ways to import Your miniDV tape
    • Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
    • If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE   Mac OS Extended   formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)
    from LKN 1935.
Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpful insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935
    from Karsten.
in addition to Bengt's excellent '9 yards of advice' ..
camera set to 'Play' , not rec/computer/etc.?
camera not on battery, but power-line?
did your Mac 'recognize' this camera before...?
    a technical check.
    connect camera, on, playback, fw-connected...
click on the Blue Apple, upper left of your screen ..
    choose 'About . . / More . .
under Firewire.. what do you read . . ?
    More
    • FileVault - Secure that it’s turned off
    • Network storage - DOESN’T WORK
    • Where did You store/capture/import Your project ?
External USB hard disk = Bad Choice / FireWire = Good
If so it has to be Mac OS Extended formatted
----> UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange is NOT Working for VIDEO !

Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After un-installing Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.
    No Camera or bad import
    • USB hard disk
    • Network storage
    • File Vault is on

The problem was the external backup hard drive that is connected, you need to disconnect the external drive before the mac can see the video camera.

Maybe your problems is solved in the meantime, but for all others this might help as I had the same problem, also have the Sony HDR-HC7, but the 7e (Europe, PAL). I found this link today and it works perfectly
    //support.sony-europe.com/tutorials/dime/videotransfer/vtransfer.aspx site=odw_en_GB&sec=DVH&m=HDR-HC7E
What I exactly did.- put camera in play mode - open guide - choose connection guide - choose comp./printer (where to transfer movie to) - select connection.- i-link (on my camera) but equal to firewire - OK - choose HDV - choose NO for conversion of i.link.
Settings are shown then (VCR HDV/DV.- HDV and i.link-conv..- OFF), press OK, OK, END.
Switch camera off. Connect firewire cable to camera & Mac. Switch camera on, in play/edit mode.
Open i-movie, choose import from camera. On screen below the camera connection is shown.- DV (HDV). Now you can import, automatically or manually.
This worked perfectly for me. Took me 2 days to find out. Could not find any clear thread explaining what I had to do on the camera and the manual was not clear either.

  • Uploading/converting videos to Ipod

Everytime i upload a video to itunes, and then convert it to my Ipod there is never any Audio, Why is this?????? or how can i restore the Audio to it????

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
Videora is one, and there are others.
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/
Search the iPod video forum for other recommendations (this is the forum for older iPods), but beware of spammers trying to sell you their own product.

  • Upload quicktime movies over IP

Question is, can you upload quicktime movies over IP. If so, What codec is the best for uploading and playing. Also, can Apple TV automatically play multiple playlists.
The reason that I asked is that I want to replace our Digital Sign-age displays with quicktime movies that play all day.
    Thanks in advance.
    Gene

You can only upload to AppleTV via iTunes (iTunes machine on same wireless/wired network rather than a USB connection like an iPod). You can't log into AppleTV using a web page and upload video to it remotely if that's what you want to do.
Unfortunately it doesn't even do video/movie playlists let alone multiple ones.

Look in your Home/Library/Library/Quicktime folder to see if you have Flip4Mac and/or Perian installed.  If so move both the the Desktop, reboot and try again.
NOTE: In Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
