Uploading ringtones

I have an Imac G5, running OS10.3.9. I am trying to upload some ringtones i've created to my cellphone, a Motorola E815. My cell provider is Alltel. I've tried "funformobiles" uploader but it won't work with Alltel. Any suggestions as to how i can get the ringtones from my desktop to my phone??
G5 Imac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

You probably already found your answer, but my brother-in-law and I just figured this out the other night. We initially looked on this discussion board and found nothing, so I'll attempt to paste our solution on several boards.
The steps may look long, however, after you do this once it's so easy...
(1) Find the song you want as your ringtone and drag it into GarageBand. (If the song is a purchaed iTunes song it will be protected and this won't be possible. There is various software to remove the protection, but I have yet to use it).
(2) Cut the song down to a 10 - 45 second clip within GarageBand.
(3) Send the song back to iTunes (using the Share menu). The song will then most likely show up in a new playlist with your name as the artist.
(4) Convert the song to a mp3. You will most likely need to first go into iTunes preferences and select the Advanced setting. Then change the import (yes import even though you'll export) option to mp3. Then go under the Advanced menu and select convert to mp3. Now you'll have a duplicate song, but this one will be an mp3. Use Info (Apple "I") to verify which is which.
(5) Drag your new mp3 10 - 45 second mp3 to your desktop.
Now you'll send your mp3 mobile phone via bluetooth.
(6) Go into System Preferences and select Bluetooth. Then go into your phone and setup your bluetooth (if you haven't done this before it can be tricky because there are so many different phone types - however you'll basically need to go into your phone setting and send your signal to your Mac). The process is very similiar to setting up a bluetooth keyboard or mouse. Follow the onscreen prompts and you'll likely be asked to enter a computer generated number into your phone to verify you want to connect.
(7) Once connected you should then go into File Sharing and turn it on (within the Bluetooth menu).
(8) You're almost done. Now open Bluetooth File Exchange (within Applications - Utilities) and select send a file. Select the mp3 file (or photo or video) on your desktop and send it. Lastly, you'll most likely have to Accept the incoming file on your phone.
(9) Once the transfer is complete (1 - 3 minutes) you should have a new self-created ringtone!
Let me know if this worked!

  • How to upload ringtones to server

    Hi,
    I need a code snippit to upload ringtones from nokia mobile to the server.
    Can anyone provide more info on this.
    Thanks.
    Regards.

    //the server side
    ServerSocket acceptSocket = new ServerSocket(port);
    while(true) {
    Socket s = acceptSocket.accept();
    Connect(s);
    } // waits for client socket
    void Connect(Socket s) {
    in = new ObjectInputStream(s.getInputStream());
    } // you can create a file object on the client side and send it through an object stream. You should probably make sure that file objects are synchronized. They most likely are. I've never tried this, but there's no reason why it wouldn't work. Make sure to start the output stream before the input stream or you'll get a hang up.
    //the client side
    s = new Socket(InetAddress ip,int port);
    out = new ObjectOutputStream(s.getOutputStream());
    out.writeObject(File file); //write the file object to the output stream

  • LG Ally Ringtones - Where Do I Upload Them To via USB?

    I can't use V Cast Media Manager because it does not run on 64 bit systems.
    So, I upload via USB.
    Question:
    Where do I upload Ringtones via USB to Device ..... so they appear in the Ringtone list?
    Thanks.

    OK, so create a file:
    "media/audio/alarms" and "media/audio/notifications" for custom alarm and notification sounds.
    To save an MP3 as a ringtone.  Other than removing my miniSD and using my PC to load and save files within a created file structure, how else can I do it?  I can't access any files using the phone's UI.  That's one of my surprises with this thing.  Heck, a few years ago I had a Motorola Q  and had full control of all files and functions and the only problem I had w/ that phoen was really poor signal reception.
    My Ally is a great source of sress.There's so much about it that is disappointing.  I want to trade it back in and probably get a D-2.  If that doesn't do what I want, I'll turn that in and just get a dang phone and cncell all the fancy stuff.

  • Kin TWOm Ringtones

    Alright so I have tried so many different ways to get my custom MP3 ringtones on the phone and I can't. Its getting really irritating too. I don't have texting or anything so emailing it to myself through the MMS (@vzwpix.com) and any other sites will not work. I've tried using the email feature and emailed it to myself, but then it won't download it either. Next i've been trying to get it to work by going through Zune, but still no avail. I have read that its possible to upload ringtones from Zune, but I haven't found anyone to tell me how.

    I also read that other post, but i believe it was posted while he/she was testing in-progress. You can get the ringtones onto the phone, but teh phone does not recognize any of the music files on the ringtone list (as many other phones don't either). It will show up in the zune player, but you cannot set it as a ringtone.
    Sadly, for your situation, the only way i found possible was by sending it through multimedia messaging, either to yourself ([email protected]) or from another phone that you have access to. However, I have not tried this with the Kin, but i believe a bluetooth transfer would work, from a buddy/sibling/parent's phone to your phone to transfer the sound file. It works on other phones, its just a simple bluetooth file transfer, but it wouldn't be the first thing on the Kin phones that didn't work, that works for any other phone. If anyone has tried the bluetooth transfer, please update on whether it succeeded or failed.

  • How to recover all files.

    It's my first time plugging my mom's IPhone 5 into my laptop since she doesn't want to upload songs..this time she wanted me to upload ringtones from my itunes. Soon as I plugged it in, it restored as a "brand new phone" and every thing was gone such as pictures, text messages and videos. All the contacts and apps are still intact. Is there anyway that I can recover all my mom's files?

    You can place them in ANY other Folder, or create a new Folder ON the desktop or any other location just for this purpose.
    But loose on the Desktop is NOT a good place, because your Mac cannot suppress the urge to show each and every icon from the Desktop folder on the background wallpaper.
    If there are a lot of these files, it can slow your Mac way down just trying to display them all.

  • Nokia Suite 6.81.13.0 has less functionality for 6...

    I used to be able to upload ringtones to my 6610, now I don't see this option. While this suite includes music upload - the phone doesn't support playing music, what are we talking about? It seems that the developers of this software were not careful enough to look at the old phone to see what functions are supported by it and included everything.
    I think I'll go back to an older version of the software so as to be able to upload ringtones....

    or you oculd use file manager.
    this will les you transfer files to and from the phone

    Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

  • Uploading songs & using them as ringtones

    I have some ringtones that I previously had on my old phone & uploaded them to my iPhone along w/ my other songs. Can I set the short songs as a ringtone or do I have to purchase the ringtones/songs thru iTunes?

    Open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar (unless this is already set), then follow the steps in this video: Create free ringtones with iTunes 10.

  • I purchased and upload a new ringtone and all my ringtone symbols disappear

    A bit of weirdness I need some help with...I went into my ITunes and picked a song with the bell ring tone symbol in order to create a new ring tone. I created the ring tone and purchased it. So far so good, it showed up in my list of ringtones so all seemed to be well. However, when I went back to my ITunes playlist, all the ringtone symbols (the bell) had disappeared from all the songs which can be made into ringtones. I'd really like to get those back, as I want to create more ringtones. Any advice? Also, there seems to be another casualty--the smart song finder which appears at the right hand side of ITunes and makes song recommendations based on what is playing as disappeared as well; another neat feature I'd like to recover. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks!

  • How do I upload a ringtone as a greeting?

    I have a BB Curve 8330, Can anyone tell me how to directly upload a ringtone as a voice mail greeting other than playing it and recodring it?
    Thank you

    You can navigate to a website where it is and save it, for most music file formats.
    You can email it to yourself, save the attached file.
    You can move the ringtone to your Media Card via Mass Storage Mode enabled on your device, from your PC, via the USB connection. See below.
    1. Go to Options >> Media Card
    (some themes or BlackBerrys may call this "Settings >> Media Card")
    2. Check the following settings (if they are not listed this way, then change to reflect the following:
    a) Media Card Support: On
    b) Mass Storage Mode Support: On
    c) Auto Enable Mass Storage: Yes
    3. Save the settings and exit

  • OS 5 will not upload my old ringtones, whats the problem

    After the OS 5 update  my ringtones are in the system but will not upload to Iphone 4.0 anymore.  Anyone else experience this or have a solution????

    Yes, I had a custom made ringtone that was lost after the upgrade to IOS5. I called Apple, and was told that they put it back on iTunes, however, it wasn't there...then e-mailed them again and was advised that since this was a custom ringtone, it would not be available.....but Apple did give me a credit on iTunes to download a song of my choosing. What I finally did was to download the App....Ringtone Maker....(the free version)...and made my own ringtone (the same one I had lost). The heck of it is...I made the original ringtone from a song that I purchased through iTunes......which was the way you did it on the older iPhones. Apple should have found a way for us to keep our ringtones.

  • HT201359 I downloaded ringtones from the iTunes Store, and it won't download, bor will it upload on my phone.  What can I do?  If I delete the app, will my money be refunded?

    I downloaded ringtones from the iTunes Store from Nguyen Dev.  It had some amazing tones, but when I tried to download it, it wouldn't work.  I ave tried repeatedly, but to no avail.  If I deleted it, would I get my money back.  My ring tones are so bland that I wanted something that was a reflection of me.  This had it all.  I am so disappointed.  What can I do?

    I had some time finally figuring why I could buy and download from the Itunes store, but could not load it on my IPOD. What finally worked was plugging my IPOD in to the computer, as I would when "syncing", and, after loading, it would show my device in the side bar. You have to go to VIEW in the top Tool Bar and click on SHOW SIDE BAR in the drop down menu. "SUMMARY' tab, on top, is what I clicked on to show an option of restoring my IPOD to the factory defaults. It erases everything on the IPOD, but gives an option of AUTOFILL afterwards, which it does from the computer. This is one solution of many you could try. Good luck.

  • Have a Droid Maxx HD - How do I upload music to Easy Ringtone Maker?

    I have music loaded on my Droid Maxx HD but can't figure out how to get them loaded onto Easy Ring Tone Maker to make ringtones?

    Photo Stream is the service used to sync photos to iCloud.  You have to enable the option in iCloud Control Panel on your Windows machine and/or iCloud settings on your iOS device.
    You can't sync music to iCloud per se.  Music you have purchased from iTunes can be redownloaded for free at any time.  iTunes Match will allow you to download iTunes copies of music you have acquired through other sources for $24.99/year, though the service isn't available yet.  More information is available at http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/.
