Uploading using Bridge - Sort Order

Hi Folks,
I use CS3 Bridge uploader to upload from my CF card. I use the custom file name feature to rename the files. However, Bridge by default sorts the thumbnails from newest to oldest, based on the date/time data. Since I'm adding a sequence number as part of my filename, there's a disconnect between the filename and the date - most recent pics in the upload have lower sequence number than older pics. Any way to change the thumbnail sort order in Bridge uploader? Thanks,

Thanks very much for the reply. I'll give it a try - I think when Windows opens Bridge for uploading, the main Bridge window is bypassed, and the upload window (at least as I recall) doesn't have any of the panels displayed. I should have thought of that :-)

    we are currently updating from BPC 7.0NW to 7.5 NW SP10. (BW has been upgraded to 7.02 SP09)
    As master data and hierarchies had been uploaded using the coding from 'HowTo Upload automated...' so far, we now have to use standard Data Manger packages.
    Maintaining packages and package links was successful. Everything works fine so far.
    The only problem are Hierarchies, better the sort order of hierarchie nodes. At the moment they are always sorted in an alphabetical order.
    We introduced property MBR_SEQ to all dimension using program UJA_MIGRATE_MBR_SEQ.
    We loaded hierarchies with different settings.
    Searching SDN and SAP Notes lead to notes 1603352 or 1581331.
    But manually changing hierarchies each time, new members are assigned, is not an option!
    Do I miss any option in the selection screen of the Data Manager package?
    Are there any options in transformation or conversion file?

    For your Information...
    We were now adviced to include parameter DM_KEEP_SRC_SEQ with value Y in AppSet parameters (Web-Administration).
    Please have a look at note '1626929 - Keep hierarchy sequence for Load Hierarchy from BW package'.
    It works!
    For the first hierarchy to be uploaded...
    If there are more than one hierarchy defined for upload, only the first hierarchy is sorted correctly, all following ones are sorted alphabetically again.

  • Bridge Sort Order - Secondary Sort Key

    Noticed an anamoly to sort order when rating images.
    I have sort order set to Ascending by date. Everything starts off fine - all images in the correct order. When I start labeling the images (using numbers 6, 7, 8, 9) the sort order starts changing.
    I have several images with the same exact date/time (e.g., 8/22/08 10:15:13) - my camera shoots 6 frames per second.
    I start labeling "three" images with the same date/time - as I do, the image I label goes to the "end" of the "three" that have the same date/time stamp. So, now an image I just labeled is moved in the order and I end up labeling it again - which based on how bridge works actually undoes the label - label does a toggle.
    Then I hit the next image and rate it - same thing. appears to be sorting on a secondary key when the date/time are the same for multiple images.
    Is there a way to stop the secondary sort key affect. It really screws up the labeling flow.
    Image order:
    Image01
    Image02
    Image03
    Label Image01 as a "6" - order changes to:
    Image02
    Image03
    Image01
    So now image01 is back in the labeling flow...

    To further explain this issue:
    Original file order:
    1
    2
    3
    I look at each file then star File # 1. Instantly, the files rearrange to:
    3
    2
    1
    So I back track and start the sequence over (so that I can see files 2 and 3). So I decide I also like file # 2. The order rearranges again into:
    1
    3
    2 or something like that
    By now, I'm all mixed up as to what order the event actually happened. The more I star, the more the files rearrange. When I go back to see the rearranged files, they rearrange again. It's all very frustrating when I'm trying to edit a wedding and tell the story. It's imperative that I see all different camera files in order.

    Hello experts,
    Is there a way to disable node sorting order or in other word enable sorting in any order the user wants? There is no one particular rule that can be applied. I tried to create a derived Sort property and assigned it a value/formula of just 0 or 1. When I dragged a node around and tried to drop it as a sibling somewhere else higher up in the tree under the same parent, I got this message: "1: The server returned an error processing CopyNodes: Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list."

  • Report Queries are using different sort order

    my enviroment is
    Apex 3.1.2
    Apache Web Server
    OC4J Apache FOP
    i have 4 Source queries in one Report Query (shared components --> report queries)
    This 4 Source queries have to be executed in a specific order, for instance my data in
    DATA>
         <ROWSET1>
              <ROWSET1_ROW>
    <query1>AABBCC<\query2>
              <\ROWSET1_ROW>
    <ROWSET2>
              <ROWSET2_ROW>
    <query2>XXYYZZ<\query2>
              <\ROWSET2_ROW>
    content always the same rows.
    Apex is doing some strange things here. Sometimes my queries are executed in a different sequence.
    So the output is like
    DATA>
         <ROWSET1>
              <ROWSET1_ROW>
    <query2>XXYYZZ<\query2>
              <\ROWSET1_ROW>
    <ROWSET2>
              <ROWSET2_ROW>
    <query1>AABBCC<\query1>
              <\ROWSET2_ROW>
    How can i fix the sequence of my source queries??

    I found the solution.
    Anychart seems to have a problem with null values!
    The corrupted sorting only occured for a specific set of search criteria and a specific day. At this day some values have been null.
    I added a "nvl( [...], 0) for every value.
    No I get a correct sort order.

  • Photoshop CS3 web gallery bugs(?); vanishing metadata, bad sort order

    Running OS 1.5.4 on 24" Imac, I'm attempting to generate a "horizontal slideshow" from bridge-selected files in Photoshop CS3.

    Here's my experience:
    1) Description and title show up for a second on the first slide, then revert to just the blank template on that and all subsequent slides (title: [blank] description: [blank]....
    Hitting "refresh" produces the descriptive metadata for a tantalizing moment, then it' s back to the blank template for this and all subsequent slides. It does this both for Safari and Firefox.

    "preserve all metadata" is checked.
    I've tried all combinations of checking/ unchecking "title, description, filename" for labeling...also, making slideshows with just one or two slides to reduce the chance that it's a weird character issue of the type some other folks have experienced...
    2) additionally, the web gallery is not respecting the manual sort order in Bridge, which is the source of the files. The help files say the slideshow should follow the manual sort order in Bridge.
    3) Finally, metadata entered in bridge metadata tab sometimes vanishes, sometimes metadata entered in file info wouldn't show in the metadata tab.

    OK...here's the hack I used to get around what I'm now totally convinced are program bugs and shortcomings relative to advertised functionality, for anyone else who has to deal with this, followed by my (suggested fixes to Adobe)...
    1) Sort everything the way you want in bridge.
    2) Make meta descriptions w/o weird characters (a warning here would be helpful)
    3) Use "batch rename," with "copy to another folder" to give the images totally plain vanilla, DOS-style file names (001.jpg, 002.jpg...). This solves most filename issues and the works around web gallery's failure to recognize bridge sort order in one go. Note that you can irrevocably screw up the names of all your original files if you're not very careful to COPY at this step.
    ([a] make the bridge sort work directly, as advertised, por favor. [b] add an error message or warning about file names such as 006-(2).jpg causing malfunction. A compassionate, low-effort short-term patch for Mac users of web gallery, especially since bridge generates that particular sort name itself invisibly and automatically if you move a file with the same name into a folder)
    4) Use "white on black" instead of bug-ridden "horizontal slideshow" (horizontal slideshow should be fixed or deleted from the next version...multiple slideshow options would be awesome, as they advance automatically at the max rate the user's bandwidth allows, a very attractive feature)
    5) Restrict all images to the same height so users can click *in the same spot* to advance the 200 images with less carpal tunnel (the advance arrow should *always* be in the same spot, for every web gallery, IMHO)
    Web galleries are a fantastic tool for sharing information easily...I hope to see some evolution in those great automatic updates someday...

  • Save Bridge sorting in Explorerfile?

    After having sorted the fotos in Bridge in a special order I select a few of them and copy them into a new folder for presentation. When opening this folder in Explorer the fotos are always rearranged according to their number,  though there are no checks in the sorting menu of this new folder.
    Is there any possibility to save the fotos in the way of the Bridge sorting and open this original sequence in a computer, where Adobe products are not installed so that I have to use the Explorer slideshow?

    As far as I know Windows will always use that sort ordering in the Explorer display. What I do is to make a copy of the presentation files, re-order them in Bridge and batch rename them in Bridge so that Windows will use that order.

  • Sorting order.

    I've another Bridge annoyance I don't quite know how to fix. It's the sorting order. I like to sort by Filename. That way edited copies of images show up right next to the master file. But when I close Bridge's window (hide it, as it's still open in Dock), and later open it again, the sorting order has changed to 'manually'. It does this every single time, so on opening Bridge I always have to change this. I have looked at how I can keep the sorting order fixed, but couldn't find it. Anybody know how to do this?     Last used sort order should be kept when having restarted Bridge as it is
    the same when using hide or minimize to dock icon. It does so in my version
    so there will be no reason why it should not in yours .
    Remember that when having used a sort order and only having changed the
    order of one file it auto changes to manual sort order.
    Also there is the option to use the sort order and window location fixed in
    a new workspace ?
    Also remember that whenever Bridge starts behaving odd the first thing to
    try is to reset preferences. Close Bridge, restart it with holding down
    option key and choose reset preferences from the provided menu. Set the
    preferences again to your wishes and try again.
    I have looked at how I can keep the sorting order fixed, but couldn't find it.
    Anybody know how to do this? Thanks a bunch.

  • Sort order notes iOS 6.0

    Since it is finally possible to sort my Notes with MacOS 10.8.2 I am desperately seeking for the same possibility on my iPhone and iPad (iOS 6.0). It does neither use the sort-order (alphabetically!!!) from my desktop Mac nor am I able to change the sort-order on my iPhone. This is really a pain! Any solution out there???
    Please Apple, if you dont want to allow the users to make their own choice of sort order, at least let them use and transfer the sort order they have on their Mac!!!
    By the way: same problem with photos! With iOS 6.0 the devices do NOT use (anymore) the sort order of my iPhoto-folders. WHY? Help!

    You must set the Cellular Data according (Settings>>General>>Cellular>>Cellular Data). Contact your carrier for further information.
    Turn on Cellular Data, Roaming and 3G as well, even your carrier doesn't have 3G available.
    Did you turn on Restrictions before?

    Groups are suppressed and fields are placed in the detail the line.  I have a request to group by Customer name with selected product ID's listed or vice versa.   My quandry is how do I accomodate the descriptive fields in the page header since the user can select any number of combinations using the sort order parameter.  Sure, right now they are only looking at customer and product ID but let's face it, that requirement could change in the future.  Seems simple enough but it's been awhile since I've touched reports and my brain is fuzzy.  Is what I'm trying to do possible?   Crystal XI (11.0.0.1282)

    I was overthinking the problem.  The report was already sorting on customer or product based on user selection.  I placed the customer ID/Name field and the Product ID field into group one and checked the underlay following section box in section expert.  This is will work fine for our purposes.

    It seems that if I specify the sort order for Simplified Chinese (pinyin) on the reference page,
    index entries that start with "i" and "v" are not shown under their corresponding group titles.
    (I assume that this may be due to the fact that pinyin words never start with these letters.)
    If I have an entry that starts with an English word like "IP," it appears under the "J" group.
    I want the entry to appear under the "I" group. How can I do this?

  • Urgent!  Details of english sort orders in SQL databases

    I need (for reasons that would take too long to explain and probably breach company security) to duplicate in Java (preferably a Comparator) the sorting order used by a SQL database.
    I can find lots of things telling me how to tell a database to use a sort order, but nothing will tell me exactly what that order is.
    Does anybody have a clue? And yes, we are prepared to buy books for this.

    It is probably different for each database. It can even be different for different installations of the same database if the charset can be custom set. You would need to know the specifics for the database you are working with, which the dba should know.

  • Need help saving Bridge file sort order

    Is there a way to save the sort order in Bridge CS4? The default in mine is "By Date Created", and I would prefer it defaulted to "By Filename". I change it to sort according to filename, but it just reverts back to date created next time I open the window. I'm sure this is a really obvious setting that I am missing, but cannot find it. Any help would be appreciated.

    You can save the sort order as part of a workspace, Use the triangle at top
    of the Bridge window (left to the search option) and in here choose new
    workspace.
    Obvious you first have to set everything you like to appear as you want it
    in this new workspace, including the sort order...
    For better overview you can drag the vertical line next to the workspace
    names to the left to extend them to the left.
    I'm sure this is a really obvious setting that I
    am missing, but cannot find it.
