have ten minute video that would like to share via skype and was looking for help or suggestions as to how to make that happen.

1. Your movie has to be less than one miniDV tape (there are tapes up to 90min SP-mode)
(eventually LP-mode might work - but I bet on sound sync problems)
2. Export back Your movie to this new tape
3. Use this with iDVD - OneStep DVD
This will give an autostarting DVD without menu.
Problems that might occure
- to hight burn speed - in iDVD You can't select x1, x2 or x4 burn speed
eles You buy DVD disks that are marked x2 or x4
- I would use Verbatim DVD-R disks (no +R or +/- RW)

If there is an indication of minimum specification in browser support, flash player plugin or other limits that have recently been changed, those should be available from Vimeo support.
The expectation of several things to be continued in an older OS X such as Leopard 10.5.8, has been showing its age and various browsers supporting that system online are fewer now. Safari has no upgrade version for this old of OS X. You may be able to use a different web browser to see if it would work.
There may be a later version of Flash that could work, or maybe not. A few browsers may do OK, I have a version of SeaMonkey (not the PPC version) in my MacBook1.1, running in Leopard 10.5.8. The last version of FireFox is no longer updated, but I have that too. The iCab browser (shareware) may do OK, you can test it since it runs freely w/o license.
For overall better web experience, you may need to look into the MacBook specifications and consider an upgrade to both the OS X system (buy/install retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD -- then download Combo Update 10.6.8 v1.1) and see if the computer can support more chip RAM installed. Of course if the hard disk drive is running full, make an external archive of your created content and a backup before considering upgrading the OS X and any applications.
With Snow Leopard 10.6.8, you have better browser support, newer Flash player plugin, and a few features that may be better for your overall experience with the MacBook. However it may ask for more resources than a basic Leopard 10.5.8 system, generally most reviews appear to be good. I have a MacBook1.1 (mid-2006) coreduo 1.83GHz model; it can run Snow Leopard 10.6.8 as a last upgrade & nothing further for mine.
While OS X 10.6.8 is a portal to attempt further OS X upgrades via Mac App Store, etc, the hardware of the early older MacBook may find better usefulness left at Snow Leopard. If you have several older applications written for PPC hardware (they run under Rosetta, an option in Snow Leopard no longer available after it) you may choose to keep the upgrade path at OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard even if there is a hint your MacBook could be upgraded to, say, Lion 10.7.5. You'd lose support for older applications not written to Universal or PPC.

I have previously saved my .mov file as Apple TV, but the quality is reduced from 1920x1080 to 960x540. I was unable to sync the higher quality file to my phone (and am worried this is the limitation of the hardware). I added this file to iTunes, added to a playlist, and sync'd to my iPhone. The playback works but the resolution is obviously a lower quality.Is it possible to keep the higher quality for playback through a 1920x1080 hd monitor? No. Only the iPhone 4S, iPad3, and TV3 currently support 1080p30 content. Even then the 1080p30 playback support for your monitor may depend on how the device is connected. The iPhone 4 is limited to 720p30 playback.

Not on your current device. As previously stated, the latest generation of iPhone, iPad, and TV devices support a maximum 1080p30 playback capability but may be limited to lower resdolutions depending on your method of connection to your monitor. This information can be found on the Apple web site TechSpecs page for each respective device.

If you have the Apple Camera Connection Kit (CCK) and the video that your camera generates is in one of the formats tha the iPad supports then you can directly move it to the iPad with a USB connection.

Best place to upload video for family access

I'm a relative newcomer to FCE, but a 20-year experienced Mac user. I have decided to produce an occasional two-minute video of family news for uploading so that family members round the world can keep tabs on what we're all doing. Where would be the best place to upload this so that:
1. It's quick to upload.
2. It doesn't suffer much quality loss.
3. It's secure from non-family.

What are the settings to for best quality video for playback on computer?

I'm not having any software or hardware issues. I have tried differnent combinations using AVI, MPEG and WMV and I'm still not satisfied with the quality.
I have used the same settings as my original video and it still is no where near the quality. Maybe this is as good as it gets, any help would be appreciated.

I'm using the recorder on my computer to record my screen and voice to create video tutorials for my students to watch on-line. This creates a 720x480 AVI file and has good quality.

What is the best preset to use for HD-lite?
The best is one that matches the Source Footage 100%. Unfortunately, with that variation on HD, I do not think that PrE, even PrE 10, will be able to come close. PrPro, however, does have the ability to do Custom Sequences (think a bunch of mini-Projects inside of a Project), and one can match odd Frame Sizes, FPS, etc.. I was hoping that PrE 10 would have Custom Presets, but it did not show up. This limits PrE to standard Frame Sizes, which is not what most video screen capture programs offer. Your footage does not match to any real HD-Lite Frame Sizes, so you will still have the same problem.
It does appear that your program, while different than the TechSmith Camtasia, does use the TSCC CODEC. This will give you a bit more info. Also, though you do not have Camtasia, or CamStudio, I think that the article, that I linked to above, might be of use.
Now, what options does your video capture program offer for output?

I have had success exporting movies and playing them on my ipad by simply selecting the size that shows is compatible with ipad in the share/export format choosing chart.
However, knowing that I have more control by exporting using quicktime, I'm wondering what the best video type and best settings are for ipad viewing?

When I try to play stuff I get a message saying I require HDCP for playback! what's that?

So disappointed with Apple TV, just bought it and it won't work, I can use YouTube on the tv, but not from my iPad.

HDCP is a copy protection protocol. Content that contains HDCP protection requires that all devices are HDCP compliant, if your TV isn't compliant or isn't telling the iPad that it is compliant the movie won't play.
Also, it only works when my iTunes is on my computer. I have set it up as by the instructions.
If you mean it will only play content from your library when iTunes is running, then that is quite normal, you wouldn't expect the Apple TV to be able to read a library that isn't turned on would you.

Looping previously streamed video for playback

I am using QT Broadcaster and i-sight on a Powerbook G4 to stream a series of short (15 - 20 minute) videos. I want to be able to replay and loop the .mov files after each live stream so that the project accumulates. Anybody know how I can do this without paying $500 for the server?QTSS?

I want to create a new itunes account for myself and leave the current one for my wife. Is that possible?

Ok. My wife uses itunes for her work and she has asked me to open my own account without erasing the one we currently have so that our music can be seperate. I have my own pc and sync to my own itunes program but our purchases still download to the same account and the money comes from the same account. Can I open a new account and not lose everything? I hope this isn't too wordy but I want to be as clear and explicit as I can for you.
You can't transfer purchases from one account to another account. Apple doesn't allow it.
You can continue to use your daughter's Apple ID in order to continue to use the apps that you purchased with her ID and you will need to use her ID and password any time that you want to update those apps. What you do want to avoid is having to download any of those purchased apps again on any other devices - if you create a new Apple ID.
If you create a new ID and then you sign into her ID in order to download a previous purchase- you will lock yourself out of the new ID for 90 days and there is nothing that you can do about it. So as long as you do NOT download any past purchases with her ID - you will not lock yourself out of the new ID. So you can keep using the apps that were bought with her ID, you can also update those apps using her ID (you have to sign into her account in Settings>Store) but you can't download past purchases without messing things up with your new ID.
When you download a past purchase with a different ID - you associate that device with the different ID for 90 days. This is one way that Apple hopes to cut down on pirating of apps - friends using other friends IDs in order to download apps without patting for them.

The bottom line is that you can create a new ID, still use her ID - judiciously - but you really want to avoid downloading past purchases with her ID. Transfer all of those purchases into iTunes so that if something happens and you need the purchased content again, you can just sync it again rather than downloading it.

Upload video?

Hey guys,
I'm developing a website in which there is to be a feature
where people upload videos for other users to see. It's really that
simple: Users upload videos, and they can then be browsed and
viewed by others--much like youtube. However, with all my
experience in flash, I've never done anything with videos. I'm
fairly proficient in Coldfusion so uploading the video is not a
problem. My concern is how do I encode (I think is the word) the
video into the flash format on the server so everyone can watch it
then.
Of course, I could do this manually each time someone
uploads...but I'd much rather it be automated.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am unable to transfer a 3.2GB video created on iphone to my Windows XP system. I browse iPhone in explorer and tried drag and drop...the dialog dies after 15sec or so and I have a zero length file.
Am trying other menuitem on video "save to pictures" and it dies also with same symptom.
The video plays on my iphone just fine. I have not seen a way to transfer it via iTunes to my PC either.
