  • Problem: Uploading Video To iPod

Ok here's the issue. 8 times out of 10 when I connect my iPod via USB, it does not give me the option to upload video to my iPod. I would click on the "iPod Options" where you can select Automatically update this and that... and I only see four standard options (Music PodCast Contacts Notes). 2 out of 10 times, it would give me the other options (Photos Videos) and then I can upload videos no problem. But the majority of time, it does not give me this option. I have to continue to remove the iPod from the USB repeatedly until I luckily happen to land on a time when it will allow me to upload video.
And when, during that 8 out of 10 times when I don't get the option to upload video, it removes all video from the iPod so I can no longer view them! How can I get this thing consistant!
Why is this happening? How can I get this thing to be consistant in allowing me to upload videos?

    hiya!
... okay ... this might be a symptom of a USB connection issue. if your USB connection is flaky to precisely the right degree, itunes can sometimes actually see a video ipod (or a nano) ... but it misidentifies it as an earlier version of ipod (without some of the capabilities of the nano, or the video ipod). sometimes, for example, this can cause the photo tab to go missing in the ipod preferences in itunes.
does the ipod icon in the itunes sourcelist look any different during the times you do get video capability from the times when you don't? if so, you might have one of these weird misidentification issues.
if so, some of the general ipod/USB-troubleshooting techniques might be useful:

  • IPod Video 5th Generation Upload Video to IPod Problem.

    Hi all,
I recently purcase an IPod video, and I have problem with uploading video from Itunes to my IPod. Is working fine when I set it to automatically sync. But when I change the setting to manually and drag the video file into the Movies folder (Itunes) is doesn't seem to be upload to my IPod. Music is working fine. Any one know why.
    Thank heaps in advance.
      Windows XP

Well this is a hard one,
You need to do a few things.
First you need to get it ripped in a file format by using questionable-legality software (Cough* like mine*). Or you could use illegal-ish (but not really illegal) software such as Limewire. But if for SOME reason you already have it in that from. Here is what you do.
    Download this software.
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/download.php
It is free and really easy to use. This will convert your movie file to compatible format, MPEG-4 (or Quick-Time).
Ok that was the easy part!
Now you will have to manually set the Audio bit rate to match to Video Bit rate in the Videora. The help tool will show you how to do it. You may get lucky and it will be the get the same bit rate for both. And then you are good to go! (it is worth a try, up to this point, some videos auto convert exactly to try it)
BUT IF NOT: (here we go)
To get the Audio and Video bit rate, change your view mode in the file folder where your original file is located to filmstrips. Now, hover your mouse over the video file, you should see Audio & Video bit rate. If not you will have to fiddle with Videora to get it right. Now change to bit rates in your options in Videora to match the original file. If the audio is off from the video, your sound will lag while your video plays or vise versa. Meaning, at about 5 min your audio could be off by over 45 sec.
Alright, you got your video. Now drag and drop it into Itunes, and drop it into your ipod. There you go! Easy right?
Well if you are lost after the “BUT IF NOT” part and you can’t get it working sufficiently before that point. My suggestion is to give up, unless you are great with computer fiddling.
So all in all it can be done, but it is VERY hard to do! I have done it, but it takes a while to work (2-3 hours-ish).
Hope this helped you, God Life

  • Trouble Uploading Videos To iPod Nano via iTunes

I am having trouble uploading videos to my new iPod Nano (4th Gen? The new Nano-chromatic one). I have the latest iTunes version (iTunes 8), and have followed all the Help topics related to this problem. When I have converted the video (which i have downloaded to my computer from a DVD I have purchased of the TV Series "Black Books") to the iPod friendly format (following the advice from the iTunes Help section) I then try to 'click and drag' the converted movie file into my iPod under the Devices heading, a window pops up saying:
""BLACK_BOOKS Movie 01" was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
This confuses me as all the tech specs about the new iPod nanos say that they are able to play videos. And considering as how I have converted the file to one supposedly supported by the iPod I do not understand why it can't be copied to, and then played by my iPod.
I have followed all the Help sections as suggested and the problem is still NOT resolved.
    Can anyone help?

    I had the same problem.
First you need to download handbrake http://handbrake.fr/?article=download
Then run the file through it, and the output file will work with your chromatic.

  • Problem Faced while uploading videos to ipod

I cant seems to upload new videos into my ipod.
    the error message:
"The ipod cannot be updated. An unknown error has occurred (-50).
    What should i do?
I just got my ipod the day before. so.. i'm very new to my ipod.
Anyone able to help me or tell me how to solve this problem?
Previously i have uploaded a few videos and it was working fine..

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
This usually occurs when your iPod is set to manually manage songs and playlists. Try setting your iPod to automatically update. Also, try dragging the videos to the iPod (under Source on the left of iTunes).

  • Problems uploading video to ipod

So, i just upgraded to itunes 6.02 and now i can't transfer videos onto my ipod. It tells me they aren't in the correct format or a format the ipod can play. Before i upgraded i had absolutely no problems. I have tried taking off files that uploaded fine with the previous version of itunes and uploading them with the newer version and they don't work either. I've got the latest updater software and that's made no difference.
I've used both Videora and Apollo ipod convertors and neither make any difference, and i don't see why i should have to pay for a new product when the old ones were working just fine.
Why do apple bring out software that creates new bugs?!

I have a similar problem, only I've never been able to get videos on there, before or after.
I downloaded videora, converted the videos, and now they're not even recognized on iTunes as videos, just as music. -_-'

  • Cannot upload video from ipod

Hi, neihter iphoto nor itunes can see the videos I have recorded on my iPod 4. gen. How do I load them into my Mac?

    Hello kvitberg,
First of all, you have a 5th generation nano if it has video recording capabilities.
As for the issue at hand, have you made sure you have disk use enabled on the iPod in iTunes from under it's Summary tab.
Where are you looking for these videos at? They should be in a DCIM folder on your Nano that can be accessed in a Finder window.

  • Problem with uploading video to my ipod nano 5g

I tried to upload video on my iPod though itunes, but when i am doing it, itunes is not responding for a while and then shows an error: ""The iPod "iPod Artur" cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found". What should i do to upload video on my ipod?
P.S. The video file is converted in mp4 format.

I tried to do everything what was written in that link, but it didn't worked. Also i tried to connect my Ipod to my friends computer, and there everything was ok, so i suppose that problem is in my laptop, but not in Ipod. I have Acer Aspire 3680 laptop with Windows XP on it. Is it possible that my computer is to old to work with Ipod, or may be problem is in OS (my friends PC is running windows 7 OS). I tried to sync the podcast and pictures, and it didn't worked either. The only thing that i can sync is the music. I will be very thankful if you will help me to solve this problem!

I kinda of wonder if that's because itunes does not recongnize avi format video. if that is the case, can anyone recommand me a software that can convert avi to mpeg-4 or mp4?

  • Crazy upload problem with Ipod Video

I have an Ipod Video 60gb that I've had no trouble with for a month. Suddenly, when I connect with Itunes to upload music, Itunes identifies the Ipod as having 190gb with 130-150gb already full. This is despite the fact that I've just restored my operating system on the Ipod and wiped it clean with Ipod Updater (6-28-06). Another interesting this is that after restoring the operating system, Itunes still knows the name of the Ipod and has a song list already attributed to it (on the Ipod view in Itunes) as if I've already got music on there. When I restored with Ipod Updater, it also thought I had 190gb. Itunes does the sync process and finishes normally, but there are no songs on the Ipod when it finishes. It's almost like there's two partitions on the Ipod and I can only see one of them. Crazy! Any thoughts?

Go to the video settings (iPod nano) and turn off fit to screen.

  • Can I sync my Ipod with my PC to upload videos?

Just getting a new Ipod. I plan to use the video feature quite a bit and I need to manipulate and use the videos for educational purposes. Rumor has it that it's difficult to upload videos to a computer from the Ipod. Is this true? Also, I realized that while technically I have access to a Mac, the thing belongs to my son. This means that I would vastly prefer to be able to upload my videos to my PC (which I can then use with a projector for my classes at the school where I teach). Is this an option for me? Thank you!

    Hi,

  • Can't Upload Certain Videos to ipod - prompts that disc is not found

My ipod video has recently deleted just one of my tv shows off my ipod and it will not re-upload that tv series to the ipod. When I tried to just sync that tv show by first unchecking the boxes, then re-checking them, a box popped up saying that a disc needed isn't available. However, this box only pops up sometimes, other times it says its synched, but the videos have still not uploaded to the ipod. HELP!!!

This can be very frustrating... My advice, there is a little freeware I found, to convert videos to Ipod format: "3GP_Converter.exe" perfectly safe, simple to use and low in processor power. it worked for me. I got frustrated with iTune conversion after a while...

  • "Not authorized" to upload videos to 30GB iPod

I just switched my iPod from syncing with one G5 to another. I was able to upload most music but some songs (all purchased via iTunes) said that I am "not authorized to play these songs on this iPod." Then, none my tv shows/videos will upload because "these videos cannot be played on this iPod." I have the updated 1.2 firmware and iTunes 7.0. Why won't purchased music and video upload to my iPod?

Have you authorised your second computer to play your purchases, do the songs and videos play in iTunes? If you have then try deauthorising the computer and authorising it over again: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
