Uploading Videos/Movies

How do I upload UNpurchased videos or movies to iTunes? Can I use Windows Media Player to rip movies or videos I already own? If so, how do I do this? If this isn't possible and I have to purchase some kind of other program, which is best? Thanks in advance!

Upload videos same way you do songs-just drag them over if you haven't enabled autoupdate.
Videos have to be in a specific format, found under iPod tech specs on apple website.
Here:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

  • Question about uploading videos/movies

    hi guys and gals
i just recently bought a 30GB ipod video for my little cousin and he asked me a question that i do not have an answer to.
he knows how to upload music from his itunes to his ipod (drag music into the ipod icon) but he can't figure out how to upload movies/videos.
i know that the format of the video has to be quicktime or something that is compatible with mac. he uses windows and i believe his videos are AVI or some weird nonesense.
can you please, in easy steps, tell me how to upload videos into the ipod? thanks!

  • Help uploading videos/movies to iTunes

I'm not sure exactly how to add my own movies to my iTunes library so that I can put them on my iPod. I watched the video on the help page, but it just touches mainly on adding music...please help, I really want to add my POTC2 movie on it!
Is there a program that I have to convert the movies into in order to upload to my library?

le sigh...as in the program must have some sort of vendetta against me lol..
I open the program, click the transcode video button, select the wmv or mpeg file, then 2 secs pass and all the program does is create an avs file (avisynth file)...so I read in a post on another site to try and convert the avs file...I click the transcode button, select the avs file, and then after 2 secs no conversion file is made...I have checked the appropriate output folder and sadly nothing...
I have been battling with my dilema for about three days now...you are the first person actually trying to help me so thanks a bunch!

  • How do I upload videos from an SD card to the movies folder in Finder on my iMac?

I'm having trouble uploading videos from my SD card to my iMac. I'm wanting to save it in the "Movies" folder in Finder. When I open the SD card on my iMac, I am able to view the videos in QuickTime Player. They were an AVCHD file format. It gave me no option of saving the videos - not even with dragging them. So, I tried moving all of the files versus just one (in other words, instead of opening the file to view all of the videos, I just dragged the whole file without opening it).  It saved to my iMac, but in the same way as it was on the SD card - I wasn't able to actually save the videos themselves. They were only able to be viewed with QuickTime Player - I couldn't do anything else with them. So, I took my SD card out of the computer and put it back in the video camera. I then realized than I could not view the videos in the camera - they wouldn't show up. I then plugged the SD card back into the iMac. The videos were now saved under a BDMV folder versus the AVCHD folder they had been under earlier. The AVCHD folder was there, but would not open. When I tried to open it, all it said was, "This operation could not be completed." The BDMV folder allows me to view the videos in QuickTime Player, but I still cannot save them to my iMac from the SD card. I even tried saving the videos to iPhoto by dragging the BDMV folder into iPhoto. All it did was say, "The following files could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognizable format." So, now, I am completely confused as to what I need to do as to save the videos onto my computer, and even how the videos are now saved under a BDMV folder versus the original AVCHD folder in the SD card. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could help me with this problem. Thanks!

You should have an icon of the SD card on the desktop - do you? If not, go to Finder Preferences > General and make sure these items are checked to show:
Once the icon is showing, you can just drag the card content to your desktop. It depends on what you want to do with the video - just watch or edit in iMovie to share online or burn a DVD?

  • Problems trying to upload video and movies to the internet

We are trying to upload a movie that we have made on imovie recently to a website on the internet, however I am not able to upload the movie. I keep getting a message that I need a codec. I only have quicktime player 7.4.1 (v14). Should I get quicktime Pro or is there someway I can do this without having to purchase the upgrade

    What version of iMovie?
What QuickTime codecs did you use for the export?
QuickTime Pro doesn't add any other codecs found in the "free" version.

  • Why do I have two sequences in my browser after uploading a movie?

I uploaded a movie from my camcorder into FCE and find that in the browser I have two sequences, not one. Both are the same except that:
    one reads ...3.6MB/Sec...................16-bit integer
the other reads ...(blank, no data rate)....32-bit Floating Point
I do not recall this happening before. I would appreciate some advice. Thank you.

Hmm. I logged out of FCE, and just a moment ago opened it again.
The duration of SECOND Sequence 1 - let's call it B, is now 01.13.50.25. I cannot swear that it was not this before and that I just did not notice it. However:
The first Sequence 1 (A) has a duration of 00.25.00.03 - the correct length of my movie. and there my movie is, in the Canvas window, just as I photographed it. Another timeless masterpiece.
Sequence B is blank. Totally. (I know how it feels.)
So is it possible, do you think, that when in the Capture mode, the tape simply ran on and what B contains is simply the blank latter portion of my tape?
(Tom, I know how you feel about tape. I promise. If the market ever recovers, I will buy a tape free video camera the size of a backhoe.)

  • IPod Video 5th Generation Upload Video to IPod Problem.

    Hi all,
I recently purcase an IPod video, and I have problem with uploading video from Itunes to my IPod. Is working fine when I set it to automatically sync. But when I change the setting to manually and drag the video file into the Movies folder (Itunes) is doesn't seem to be upload to my IPod. Music is working fine. Any one know why.
    Thank heaps in advance.
      Windows XP

Well this is a hard one,
You need to do a few things.
First you need to get it ripped in a file format by using questionable-legality software (Cough* like mine*). Or you could use illegal-ish (but not really illegal) software such as Limewire. But if for SOME reason you already have it in that from. Here is what you do.
    Download this software.
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/download.php
It is free and really easy to use. This will convert your movie file to compatible format, MPEG-4 (or Quick-Time).
Ok that was the easy part!
Now you will have to manually set the Audio bit rate to match to Video Bit rate in the Videora. The help tool will show you how to do it. You may get lucky and it will be the get the same bit rate for both. And then you are good to go! (it is worth a try, up to this point, some videos auto convert exactly to try it)
BUT IF NOT: (here we go)
To get the Audio and Video bit rate, change your view mode in the file folder where your original file is located to filmstrips. Now, hover your mouse over the video file, you should see Audio & Video bit rate. If not you will have to fiddle with Videora to get it right. Now change to bit rates in your options in Videora to match the original file. If the audio is off from the video, your sound will lag while your video plays or vise versa. Meaning, at about 5 min your audio could be off by over 45 sec.
Alright, you got your video. Now drag and drop it into Itunes, and drop it into your ipod. There you go! Easy right?
Well if you are lost after the “BUT IF NOT” part and you can’t get it working sufficiently before that point. My suggestion is to give up, unless you are great with computer fiddling.
So all in all it can be done, but it is VERY hard to do! I have done it, but it takes a while to work (2-3 hours-ish).
Hope this helped you, God Life

i tried to get the installation disc for the camcorder but mac wont' recognize it becaue it is windows based i guess.
i just bought the camcorder a few months ago and when my computer crashed thought i'm finally getting a mac...it's been a costly venture which has resulted in more frustration than before my pc.
now the things i want to use with my mac that i thought would be even simpler...are not even useable...
    help

That camera shoots H.264 in an .avi wrapper.
You will have to transfer the files via the Finder.
Get a free copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert them to QuickTime .mov using the H.264 codec if you are presumably editing in iMovie.
Note that your list of video codecs won't look like mine as I have Final Cut Pro, but H.264 is definitely an option for you.

  • Upload videos

How do I upload videos from iphone 4 to my computer? Uploaded pictures but can't upload video. Please help.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Trying to upload video from iPad 2 to Windows 7 PC

I cannot find a clear description of how to upload a video made on the iPad 2 to my PC (Windows 7).  Ultimately I want to copy to DVD to allow play on a TV via DVD.  I've searched through the technical support, but I'm not finding much that really seems to address the problem, even though this looks like it would be a common issue.
I made a video of our Christmas cantata using my iPad 2.  It's 1 hour 13 minutes long.  The only way that I've found that seems to allow a transfer to the PC is a Camera Upload via Dropbox.  The format is .mov, which will not play on my PC. It's also only 750 MB in size, which leads me to believe that it's being compressed for transfer.  So here are some questions:
What format is the iPad 2 using for making videos, .mov or .mp4 or ????  I was expecting .mp4; where does the .mov come from?
Is the file being compressed by some other operation to transfer in Dropbox?  While I was preparing for making the video, I ran several trials and it seemed like the files were easily in the GB range.  Does 750 MB sound right?  Recommended way to play .mov files on PC or for TV?
How do I get files to my PC?  My understanding is that iTunes can be used to download from PC to iPad but not to upload from iPad to PC.
    Thanks.

If you shot it with your iPad's camera then the video should be in the DCIM folder.
DCIM is where the ipad mimicks a digital camera and in using that you can simply drag and drop files off your iPad's camera roll into your computer.
Connect the ipad to your computer and using windows explorer, look for your iPad. (in windows 7 you should see the little manilla folder with 3 colored dots and a bluish silver upside down U)
Click/double click on that and you should see all the folders and devices attached to your computer. One of them will be your iPad. Double click on that and drill down to the DCIM folder. Inside that you should see several folders with random letter/number names. Explore those until you find your video then simply drag/drop it off your iPad onto your computer's harddrive.

  • Trouble Uploading Videos To iPod Nano via iTunes

I am having trouble uploading videos to my new iPod Nano (4th Gen? The new Nano-chromatic one). I have the latest iTunes version (iTunes 8), and have followed all the Help topics related to this problem. When I have converted the video (which i have downloaded to my computer from a DVD I have purchased of the TV Series "Black Books") to the iPod friendly format (following the advice from the iTunes Help section) I then try to 'click and drag' the converted movie file into my iPod under the Devices heading, a window pops up saying:
""BLACK_BOOKS Movie 01" was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
This confuses me as all the tech specs about the new iPod nanos say that they are able to play videos. And considering as how I have converted the file to one supposedly supported by the iPod I do not understand why it can't be copied to, and then played by my iPod.
I have followed all the Help sections as suggested and the problem is still NOT resolved.
    Can anyone help?

    I had the same problem.
First you need to download handbrake http://handbrake.fr/?article=download
Then run the file through it, and the output file will work with your chromatic.

  • I'm having problems uploading video taken with my iPhone 4 to Photobucket.  FB will not accept the file extension which is ex. IMG_423.  They will play on my computer and will upload to Facebook.  Why is the phone taking video with this file instead of so

I'm having problems uploading video taken with my iPhone 4 to Photobucket.  FB will not accept the file extension which is ex. IMG_423.  They will play on my computer and will upload to Facebook.  Why is the phone taking video with this file instead of something like .mov or mp4.  How can I change the extension after the fact and avoid it in the future?

You said, "the 4 also has signal and wifi whereas the 5 has only wifi". By "signal", I'm assuing that you mean cellular signal. If so, that means your iPhone 4 is still active on your cellular number and your iPhone 5 is not. Contact your carrier to sort out which phone is active on your account.

  • How can i do to upload my movies from the ipad to the i cloud?

How can i do to upload my movies from the ipad to the i cloud?

If these are videos taken with your iPad, you can only add them to iCloud by adding them to a shared stream, as discussed here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99.
If these were movies purchased from the iTunes store, they are already in iCloud and can be redownloaded again in many countries for free as long as the movie is still available and the studio allows it.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 and iTunes in the cloud availability by country here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085.
To be safe, import them to your iTunes library so you know you have them.  To do this, connect your iPad to your computer, open iTuens and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  Then you can sync them back to your iPad later if you ever need to.

  • Quicktime video (.mov file) will not load and play in Firefox 3.6.16

I have a computer with Firefox 3.6.16 installed that will not play Quicktime videos (.mov files) in the browser. This is a desktop computer.
Another computer (laptop) with exactly the same version of Firefox installed will load and play them perfectly in the Quicktime player.
Both computers have Quicktime addin 7.6.9.0 installed and designated as the default application for Quicktime movies.
Both computers play the videos correctly in IE 8.
When attempting to play the video in Firefox, the player window opens and attempts to load the video, but soon seems to freeze leaving a black window open where the player should be.
From what I have observed, this seems to be a problem related specifically to this computer, and since the video plays in IE I have ruled out the firewall blocking loading from the site.

Hi, I've exactly the same problem, 'cept I've XP Pro. When I say exactly, I mean the format used is HDV 1080i60, along with everything else there.
And I'm right there with you. Why Quicktime can't play a natively encoded HDV Quicktime file (using Final Cut Pro), is beyond me, but basically, I've used K-Lite Codec Pack, and Quicktime. Neither work, although Quicktime does ask for internet connectivity to download resources or something similar (I don't have Internet Access at home). I've used VLC on a friend's PC, and, while it works, there is a very strange, and irritating flicker where there's heavy movement
Where can I get the resource needed, as another party needs to view the clip, and they already have it. So if they can update their codec library or similar, then that would be much better (as I wouldn't need to upload a FullHD Video again)
    thanks

  • Is there a different process to upload video podcast or is it the same?

Is there a different process to upload video podcast or is it the same process?

Exactly the same. The only difference lies in the code within the 'enclosure' tag which needs to match the file type, and most podcast creation programs and service will handle that for you. However you need to be aware that you are limited to .m4v, .mov or .mp4 files (not Windows Media, RealMedia or Flash).
