Upon bootup, login screen initially shows only 1 admin user.

I have an iMac 27 running OSX 10.8.2 with two admin users that I'll refer to as Admin1 and Admin2.  When then system is booted up, the initial logon screen only shows Admin1.  After logging in as Admin1 and then logging out, both Admin1 and Admin2 are then listed on the login screen.  I am able to log in as Admin2 at that point.  If the computer is rebooted for whatever reason, the Admin1 user is the only user listed upon reboot and the process of logging in/out as Admin1 must be performed again in order to get Admin2 to also appear on the login screen.
Any ideas on what is going on and how to fix?
If any add'l info is needed, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
~Greg

That would be the way it works, then.
If you want the other Admin user to be able to decrypt the disk (and thus log in without Admin1 doing it first), you will have to decrypt and set up FileVault again.

Doublechecking something Emcee. I see you've got Windows 7 x64, so I'm assuming you've got at least 4 GB of RAM. Do you also have an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset on that PC? If so, see the following Microsoft document:
[You encounter problems when you move data over USB from a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset and at least 4GB of RAM|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972]

  • Upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6 - login screen now shows glyphs instead of text

Hi guys, had a bit of an unusual occurance when upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6.
The login screen now shows as this:
    (excuse auto image rotation!)
I've tried running Onyx to clear the font cache but it hasn't fixed the problem. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Ian

AFAIK, rebuilds the font caches correctly. I never recommend something like Onyx, since I don't know what it's doing behind the scenes.

  • Using lion 10.7.4, can`t login as administrator or root (both enabled) at login screen. it shows other but when selected it will not accept correct entry.

using lion 10.7.4, can`t login at login screen as administrator or root user, both properly enabled. the option other will not take the proper entry. it will accept the standard user login.

Try resetting administrator password or resetting home folder ACL's for root user.

  • Why doesn't the only Admin user have Admin permissions? (with pictures)

So a while ago I ran into the problem that I couldn't run certain programs because I don't have certain Permissions. But I am the only Admin user and I still can't go throught some of the program files without manually having to give myself permission.
I see the ONLY user is Admin
But when I go through the security tabs, I see
2 users with the same name but slightly different description
Is there any way I can fix this?

I started having this problem on Nov.11th and it happened after I reset the IE on my computer because I was unable to use IE to get on the internet. I don't know if resetting IE is the reason for this problem, but after reading your comment it probably didn't. Below is a copy of my comment on this forum. Right now my comments and a reply by Travis can be found on page 5 of thuis forum. Are you using Vista Basic or Home Premium? I have a feeling some kind of update changed this.

A few days ago I couldn't get on the Internet as IE wouldn't work and connection for the internet was ok so out of desperation I did an IE reset. It still didn't work so a family member came over and got it working, but now I get the User Account Control permission  popup each time I sign on the desktop by clicking on the IE shortcut.  I went to the security folder and turned off the User Account Control and now I'm not getting that popup each time I click on the desktop IE. This popup never used to come on when clicking on the IE shortcut, so something must have happened when I did the reset of IE.  Does anyone know how to keep on the User Account Control for all but the IE?
I  have a feeling I by accident changed a setting on IE and probably wouldn't have had to do an IE reset.but now the problem is I would like to keep the User Account Control  permission popup for all but the IE shortcut on my desktop.
By the way my family member right clicked the desktop shortcut for IE and did something with Run as Administrator to get IE working again.

Are you configuring for the nvidia card?

No I think the problem is more basic than that...he's trying to use an ATi card and an Nvidia card simultaneously.  Something that I don't think will work.
It also dependent on what drivers he is trying to use, as the (new) Nvidia proprietary driver only supports GeForce4 series chips and up...and the OP has an even older card than that.  The legacy Nvidia-96.xx driver does support his chipset, but 96.xx does not work with Xorg1.8 last I knew. see: http://www.archlinux.org/news/502/
Twinview does not exist in the Nouveau drivers, so one has to use xrandr: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nouveau

  • When I restart my computer instead of the gray screen that is supposed to appear before the login screen it shows a screen with a lot of letter

I upgrade my ssd for my macbook pro retina from the 256 to 480 GB but when I tunr it on or restarted the computer the gray screen that is suppost to apper dosent show insted a screen with lettler show before the login screen besides that the computer works fine.

I cannot decipher what is written on the images you have posted but they are reminiscent of what I have seen when a MBP is dealing with some totally incompatible software or perhaps in your case hardware.
How and or who installed the larger SSD and what manufacture is it.  I suspect that is the problem.
    Ciao.

  • OIM 11g Login Screen not showing up

    Hi,
I installed OIM 11g and could able to login successfully.Couple of days back,my database has got some problem and I solved it and restarted my OIM.OIM server is starting up but when I try to access the admin console,it is just saying "Loading" but the login screen is not getting displayed.
In the server log,I could see the following error during the server stop
    "javax.security.auth.login.LoginException: javax.security.auth.login.LoginException: java.lang.SecurityException: [Security:090304]Authentication Failed: User xelsysadm javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: [Security:090302]Authentication Failed: User xelsysadm denied
    at weblogic.security.auth.login.UsernamePasswordLoginModule.login(UsernamePasswordLoginModule.java:199)"
and the following error which accessing the admin console.
    " [HTTP][java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError]] [dcid: 11d1def534ea1be0:41b34a55:12b9b675a66:-7ffd-0000000000000026] incident 20 created with problem key "BEA-101017 [HTTP][java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError]"
Any idea what might be going wrong?
    Thanks,

What did you solve *? ? ?* That's where lies your solution. xelsysadm is being denied the access, so could be something on password front. If you have the DB backup, revert to an older state and it would be fine.

  • My Aluminum iMac wont go to the login screen, just shows the Grey screen.

I have had my iMac for a little longer than a year, and the warranty expired last month. When i turn it on, i get the grey screen with the apple logo and the spinning gear, it wont go to the login screen. I have restarted it a few times, but nothing is working. A few weeks ago I had a similar problem where i could only log into my guest account and not the main account on the computer, i restored my system from time machine and it has worked fine until today. The hard drive has been making weird noises for quite some time now, but i havn't had other problems besides that. What should I do?

I have done this many times, and it says that everything is fine. There is probably some hard drive problem from what i have heard, but i just restored the system from time machine again and everything is working...when I did this last time, within a week or two, it went back to the problem I had in my original question. I am thinking of reformatting the hard drive, and putting all of the files and programs that I need onto the external drive, so I can have a fresh start. Do you know if this might solve the problem? Are there any other options? Thanks

I think the way you have configured is the culprit, change the port and try. Take a look at the below URL.

  • Ipad is black screen and showing only a logo and updating bar.

I just downloaded new ios in itunes and updated my ipad 3G. But during updating itunes encountered a problem and closed. When I reopened the itunes and connect my ipad again, my ipad cant connect to the itunes and still showing only a logo and updating bar. Could you please share me some ideas?

You probably have to put your iPad into recovery mode now in order to restore the iOS software to fix this problem. This will explain how to do it.

you can see in the marvel.conf that the image directory is /u01/oracle10/OraHome2/htmldb/images/
    Alias /i/ /u01/oracle10/OraHome2/htmldb/images/
    <Location /pls/htmldb>
    Order deny,allow
    PlsqlDocumentPath docs
    AllowOverride None
    PlsqlDocumentProcedure wwv_flow_file_manager.process_download
    PlsqlDatabaseConnectString
    testdb1.atcscc.tfmi.nas.faa.gov:1521:d2tfmdb ServiceNameFormat
    PlsqlNLSLanguage AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
    PlsqlAuthenticationMode Basic
    SetHandler pls_handler PlsqlDocumentTablename wwv_flow_file_objects$
    PlsqlDatabaseUsername HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER
    PlsqlDefaultPage htmldb
    PlsqlDatabasePassword @BX5miUCgp+G3mLhUsFTZ3pNweNo7ykAArA==
    AddType text/xml xb1
    AddType text/x-component htc
    Allow from all
    </Location>
I copied the install image directory to this (as you can see)
    I.e cp -rf htmldb/images /u01/oracle10/OraHome2
but when I log on to htmldb
    (http://xxxx.domain:7777/pls/htmldb)
I get the htmldb logon screen but not the 2.0 splash screen. It's like
its not seeing the gif files.
I enter the workspace /username/password but nothing happens, no
errors, no web page cycle, nothing.......
    [oracle10@testdb1 home]$ ls /u01/oracle10/OraHome2/htmldb/images/
    16admin.gif Fndtre01.gif
    portal_right_menu_bott.gif
    1pixelbeige.gif Fndtre02.gif

It looks like your copy command was wrong.
    cp -rf htmldb/images /u01/oracle10/OraHome2
will copy the images directory to /u01/oracle10/OraHome2, it won't copy htmldb/images.
    You want to:
    1) cp -rf htmldb/images /u01/oracle10/OraHome2/htmldb
    2) Remove the directory /u01/oracle10/OraHome2/images that you created

    Hello!
Since your iPhone has hanged on you follow these steps
Hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button until it switches off, do not let go,
Keep holding until you see the Connect to iTunes symbol
Now you can let go and plug in your iPhone to your computer and restore from backup!
    Hopefully I resolved your issue

  • How to Assign User name and password to the login screen on button click without user type...

    Hi,
    My requirement is as follows,
I have three inputs which is User name, Password and URL. URL may be like anything like for example gmail, yahoo, hotmail like that.
No need to authenticate the URL. Just i want to place the credentials in User ID and Password controls.
On button click the URL should open in browser and the credentials should place in the controls in log in page.
How to achieve it. Ultimate thought is the user should know the "Password",only admin know the password.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hello,
If URL's are internal (not third party) then you can do this by modifying both applications. If you are trying to do this with third party then you have to contact product owner. I don't think there is any code or solution for third party application where
you can set values of controls.
For internal URL's you can create custom web service and call this web service in both the applications. One to get value from first app and then second to set value in another app.
