Upper screen not recognizing touch

The upper part of my iphone 4S screen is not recognizing touch.  For example: I cannot touch the top listed item in any list.  I have restored the iphone once, but the problem is still occuring.  It seems like a hardware problem.  Are there any software solutions for this problem?

If you restored the iPhone and choose "restore as new" and the issue persist then it is a hardware issue and the only way to fix it is to replace the iPhone at the Apple Store or by calling AppleCare (800-APL-CARE (800-275-2273)) and replacing by mail.

  • Occasional problem with the lower part of screen not recognizing touches??

Has anyone else had a problem when sliding the bar to unlock the phone or occasionally not being able to access symbols on the keyboard?

This OS (4.2.1.) often locks up for seconds on end. Never happened previously. It becomes completely inert at times. It has made the UI no longer feel transparent. It's now click and wait... Rubbish.

  • Froze upgrading ios 6 on connect to itunes screen not recognized by itunes and wont charge no power with usb

The guy at the Apple store said "Now thats a Brick" "I've never seen or heard of one this bad!"
I bought the phone with little to no info on it. I was told that it froze after several failed attempts at loading IOS 6.
Now... It will only turn on if plugged into wall, it will show black, then apple, then "connect to itunes" screen and thats it. As soon as I unplug, it dies. If I try power off, it turns back on and freezes in same place. Reset, same. And unabale to Factory restore cuz I cant unplug from wall. Im asuming its in dfu, nothing works.
When connected to USB,no power, no response from pc (win xp) or Itunes. Although... I swear I heard pc beap once as though it "found new hardware" but on inspection, Nothing.
My theories: 1) Battery is hooped. ( but I was told it worked fine a month ago) The longest I have had it charging is 4hrs and i died as soon as removed.
                        2) VCC conductor. Would explain USB issue.
                        3) The phone was "jailbroke" and IOS6 did not like that. Isnt there programs to reverse this?
                        4) IOS6 interupted, then phone got factory restored. Is it possible there is No "OS" on it?
I never touched an Iphone untill 2 days ago, and I have read and tried every troubshooting solution I could find. If I can fix this I'll be an expert!
    Any help appreciated.

  • Screen not registering "touch"

So a couple weeks ago, I was using my iPod (1st generation touch) and the screen stopped registering touches. Meaning- I could return to the home screen, but I couldn't turn the iPod off control the music or anything. I put it aside and went back to it about half an hour later, and it was working again.
About a week ago it did the same thing- started working about forty-five minutes after the failure.
Today the screen stopped working, and its been four hours.
I've been putting off having the iPod looked at because I'm waiting to get a used Mac from a friend and bring them both in at once (since going to the Apple store is a half-day-long affair).
My question is: is this hardware or software? I've been putting off restoring it, since I don't want to wipe out the settings/music unless its absolutely necessary. Would this help at all, or should I just bring it in?

I restored the ipod, and it seems to be working again.
I'll probably bring it in next time I have to go to the Apple Store anyway.
    Thank you!

  • Touch screen not recognized on U925t-S2301

Around October 9th (I believe) we had some type of Windows update on my Toshiba U925t-S2301 tablet PC. Since then the touch screen on the PC will not work at all. When I go to check the Tablet PC settings it doesn't even exist. It now shows in the system information that no pen or touch capabilty is recognized for my display, when obviously this is a touch screen that was working fine before. I ran the Toshiba Service Station app and did all of the updates and still no luck. I also tried uninstalling the applicable HID drivers and restarting the PC and still no luck. Does anyone else have any issues like this over the past couple weeks? Does anyone know of any other solutions? I waited for 3 hours on Toshiba's support phone line and never got an answer. Absolutely the worst phone support I've ever experienced.

Hi.I have the same problem, my u925t lost the display, is only possible throught my hdmi port to the TV I comment my experience if somone know what could be the problem Yesterday when I turn  on the computer, I did as tablet, then when I try to convert in laptop the display turn off, then when you slide back into a tablet, the screen lit again. I slide very slowly the display and could convert in laptop again
It worked well all day, turned it off and turned on as a tablet and laptop and everything worked fine.
This morning I had the same problem the day before, started aa tablet,  only this time, when I tried to do the same and the screen did not turn over at all.
In my opinion the problem is when you go to slide the screen, the computer gives the order to move from one mode to another.
And restart erasing the entire disc and got no results
Another thing  that was decomposed was the front camera and microphone

  • Multi-touch screen not recognized

I have a  brand new W510 configured with Windows Ultimate x64.
Within a few hours of running the machine, the touch screen stopped responding.  A reboot fixed that.  This happened several more times, and then rebooting stopped working.
Disabling then re-enabling the USB devices was the next step, and that worked for a while (in computer management/device manager/Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click and select "disable" then right-click and select "enable").  That stopped working last night.  I upped the response to uninstalling ALL of the usb devices under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers", rebooting, and letting Windows 7 x64 re-install them on boot.  Worked a few times, and now that isn't working.
I'm starting to think that there is a loose connection internally between the multi-touch device controller for the screen and the USB connector, but all of the other device drivers for the W510/Windows 7 x64 combination seem buggy enough that I can't rule out a really buggy driver.
The problem device seems to be listed as an "unknown device" enumerated under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" entry in device manager.  Here is a dump of some of the data about that device:

Early on I had a problem earlier with the NEC USB 3.0 Host Controller driver, but the Windows 7 troubleshooter fixed that.  Looking at its log, it looks like it also temporarily fixed the problem with the touch screen USB connection, and that was before I took the steps I outlined above.  Here is the output from that:
Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3B34 has a driver problem Fixed

Has anybody else had this problem?  I really don't want to have paid a lot extra for a touch-screen that doesn't have drivers capable of making it work reliably.
    Signature goes here.

I would have loved to try the Fn + F6 test, but the machine stopped getting past POST, so I can't even get to the BIOS.  The machine just gives the feel that the bios and a lot of the drivers were pushed to production too early, and still behave a bit like beta-phase software.  My plan is to return the W510 (which I really liked for the few moments it was working) and wait probably six months, then order it again.  By then I hope they will have the drivers and bios issues corrected.  There may also be hardware issues (they had trouble with long ship dates, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the hardware was also not ready for mass production).  Either way, six months is plenty of time for Lenovo to get it all together.
You would think that this experience would sour me on Lenovo, but (absent some surprise in the refund process), I have to say that Lenovo handled this very well.  They apologized, acknowledged that in my position they might well feel the same way, took responsibility for the problem (including paying for return shipping and arranging UPS pickup) and promised a full refund.  They treated me like they view customers as assets, not annoyances.  Despite my bad experience with the hardware, my experience with the company was sufficiently positive that overall, my chances of order from them again are higher now than they were before this incident.
So bad copy of the hardware, or possibly unstable drivers and bios, plus good customer service and taking responsibility for their mistake = increased customer loyalty.  I'm glad Lenovo understands the formula.  Now I just hope my aging T61 holds out long enough for me to order a W510 *after* they work the bugs out.

  • Why is my BRAND NEW touch smart screen not recognizing my touch?

I can't figure out why when I purchased my HP touch smart screen computer, at the store on display, it was working, and now when I set it all up, it doesn't recognize my finger touch!

If it doesn't even make a chirping noise when you touch the screen, it may be defective.

  • IPod touch black screen, not recognized when plugged in

I just brought myself an iPod touch 4th gen so I decided I would give my old one to my brother so I was clearing it off for him and some other things when I accidentally pulled it out of the computer I then pressed the sleep button to turn it on but the screen remained black so I tried plugging it back
In the computer but it shows it as a unknown device then I tried plugging it into the wall charger which didn't work either. My friend thinks it might be in dfu mode but if it was wouldn't the computer still recognize it? Any suggestions? Please and thank you :)

  • IPod Nano 6th gen black screen / not recognized by Windows

Like a year ago I bought an iPod 6th gen. A couple of months later the screen wouldn't turn on anymore.
    This is what I tried:
    - Manual reset by Home key + Down Volume key
    - Plugging it to different computers (with different versions of iTunes, 10 and 11). Windows only makes a sound when the device is attached, but it doesn't show it; iTunes is launched, though.
       - With iTunes 10 it waits for a while in "waiting for iPod". Then it says that an iPod has been detected but it couldn't recognize it.
       - With iTunes 11 (updated) it says that it can't contact the update server, which version is incompatible with this version of iTunes.
I used to use the iPod as a watch, so there's no chance of me dropping the device, or hitting it agains something.
It's really sad because I have no way of interacting with it to do a "recovery" or something.
I followed suggestions in a lot of discussions, but nothing helped. I'm willing to try anything.
I also have an Iphone, iPad and iPod touch, so I'm used to the most common troubleshooting.
    Please advice.
    Thanks!

if it works properly with iTunes, then the screen might be disconnected from the logic board or (worse,) be broken. Contact Apple for Repair: Apple - Support - Service Answer Center
<Edit>: did you change the screen before or after the problem arose?

  • Iphone 4 stuck on a black screen not recognized by computer

So bassically my other Iphone 4 is now stuck in a powered on state between the bootloader (apple logo) and the powered off state. my computers(win xp through win 8.1) all say unrecognized USB device and i checked its not the cable using another iphone.... the iphone is completely unresponsive (nothing happens when it is plugged in the wall or computer, holding home and power does nothing, itunes won't recognize it, vibrations don't work either and if i try calling my iphone after around 3-5 seconds the other iphone i use to call my iphone just says call ended...) please try and help me! this happened after letting it charge from around 9% battery for around 3 hours and when i unplugged it, it was kind of hot to the touch, but that has been happening for a while now due to one of the pins on the charging port being pushed back onto the metal part and causing current to flow through the metal housing of the phone(the antenna i think?) but i never cared about it since i dont really need the antenna so much....
P.S. if i can get it to get into DFU mode it would be great since i made a program a while back for IOS 4.2.1 and IOS 5 to access the filesystem in DFU mode.... i really need my data but even recovery mode would be fine if i can get the phone working again! PLEASE HELP ME!

Your iPhone is in recovery mode and any data that was not backed up is already gone. You have no choice but to restore the phone and restore from your last backup.

  • Changes to login screen not recognized

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. Several months ago a colleague made changes to the standard login screen for Oracle BI Answers. The change was a warning notice about a power outage that would shut down our servers in the form of a link on the login screen that brought up a small notice.
The changes were made to the following tags and files similar to below:
    logonmessages.xml
<WebMessage name="kmsgAuthenticateRequestedContentRequiresLogon"><HTML>Please enter your ID and password below, and then press Log In button to access reports. There will be a server outage this weekend. More details to follow.<div class="wrn">Network Outages<div class="pppoverlay">There will be a complete power outage affecting the network, where our servers are located, between evening Daylight Time on Friday 13-November-2009 and evening Daylight Time on Sunday 15-November-2009.<br><br>Our servers will be shut down during this period.<br><br>Please accept our apologies for inconvenience.<br><br><div style="float:right;"><em>Technology Team</em></div></div></div></HTML></WebMessage>

It was a handy way of advising people.
I have tried to replicate this for another planned outage this weekend but despite following instructions could not get the notice link to display.
    I have followed guides from:
    http://obiee101.blogspot.com/2008/09/obiee-making-custom-log-on-and-log-off.html
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/12/11/oracle-bi-ee-101332-customizing-login-screen/
and have tried restarting Oracle Application Server as advised but still can not get the change to display.
Also tried different directories quoted from manual in page 194 and 195 of Oracle Business Intelligence Presentation Services Administration Guide Version 10.1.3.2
    Running on Solaris SunOS 5.10
    using Oracle Business Intelligence 10.1.3.3.2
I am wondering if I am using the wrong directories completely but have run out of options to try.
Are the served web pages (ie the login screen page) logged anywhere that would indicate which files and directories are being accessed?
I have made backups of the original files with different file names but left those backups in the same directories. Could that be conflicting with the new versions?
    Regards
    Mark

    Hi,
For future reference, when making changes to the xml files such as app/~/OracleBI/web/msgdb/customMessages/logonmessages.xml
DO NOT leave copies of the original files in the same folder - as a backup.
Once I had removed all backup copies and restarted bi, the change worked fine and I was able to view the altered notice.
Looking back at the manual, had I followed the instructions exactly, I would have avoided this but it was not explicit that files of different names would also be read.
    Regards
    Mark

I only have one optical drive, so I can't check it out, but you may want to try this:
Remove the eject icon from the menu bar, dragging it out by holding down .
Make sure both drives have a cd/dvd loaded.
Restore the eject icon by double clicking /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/Eject.menu
    Any difference??

  • IPod Touch is stuck in "connect to iTunes" screen. It is not recognized by iTunes or by my Windows (64-bit) computer.

I recently purchased a new laptop after my old one ceased to function. Therefore, I had lost ,my old iTunes, and my iPod is no longer authorized by a functioning computer. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes, plugged my iPod in, and tried to install the new iPod Touch software update. I got the error message that the installation had failed, and iTunes automatically ejected my iPod, leaving it in the "connect to iTunes" screen, in which it has been stuck ever since (about 9 days now). I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, have rebooted my computer numerous times, I have tried various holdings of the power button and home button as recommended on several help forums, etc. to no avail. I am using a Windows 7 (64-bit) system on a brand new HP Pavilion dm4 laptop with plenty of space and the newest version of iTunes installed. My iPod Touch (3G) is not being recognized by iTunes or by my laptop. I would like to, if possible, restore my iPod to original factory settings so that it can be authorized on my new laptop and will sync approrpiately. Any help anyone can provide will be immensely appreciated. Thank you.
Also, the iTunes is the version for a 64-bit Windows OS.

    - First I would remove and reinstall all the Apple software using the following and then restoring the ipOd.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    - Next see if manually placing the iPOd in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Next try DFU mode:
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - Next try another computer/cable to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem.
    - If the other computer works and yours does not see:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
