Uprading to a different Suite: Will the programs of the old suite still work?

I recently thought about upgrading from CS4 Design Premium to CS5 Production Premium.
The CS4 Design has about 2 Programs I almost never use: Dreamweaver and Fireworks
The CS5 has 3 Programs which would be new: Premiere, After FX and Soundbooth.
But I will still need InDesign. There's not so much new in InDesign CS5 that I would really need (most of it is do produce interactive stuff, well I still use it acutally for print).
The question now is:
Can I upgrade to a different Suite and still use old Programs that are not part of the new Suite?
Example: I upgrade from CS4 DP to CS5 PP and still want to use InDesign CS4 - is this possible?

So it seems that it would actually work. I will still be able to use InDesign CS4.
But it seems that I can't upgrade InDesign seperately as a "single product" when it was part of a Creative Suite before.
The Master Collection is just much too expensive (in Europe we have to pay almost twice the price for that!), so that would be my choice.
If I had MC CS5, the next update then would be also super-expensive, because it's always like 1000+ €
So jumping between different types of suites could be a way to get most of the products although some of them are one version behind. Which shouldn't be a big problem, because some new features and improvements don't really justify a full paid upgrade (like in InDesign... most of it is about creating Flash-stuff)

I'm not so sure about that. I'd say the jury's still out until someone gets one and tries to use it single-link.

  • Restoring Vista O/S from Win 8.1 upgrade. Will the restore disks still work?

My HP G60 came with Vista. It has been upgraded to Windows 8.1 but the audio function has become non-functional. Is there a need for a new driver to solve this issue? If not, I am thinking of restoring Vista from restore disks. Can the restore disks still work now that it has Windows 8.1 in it?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Restoring with Recovery Disks with work and take back the system to Windows Vista. However, If you need drivers, please follow these steps:
    1. In the Run box type devmgmt.msc.
    2. Unknown devices would be listed as such and marked out with a yellow question mark.
    3. Select the unknown device or other device for which you need drivers and right click to access Properties.
    4. In the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id  or Hardware ID from the drop down.
    5. An alphanumeric string like this PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01\4&6B16D5B&0&33F0 is the identification marker for the device.
    6. Please provide this number so that we can suggest the appropriate driver.

  • If I upgrade to latest version QuickTime will the Pro license still work?

I am running QuickTime 7.0.3 and just bought QuickTime Pro a few days ago to combine some short videos. I should have upgraded to the latest version of QuickTime before getting Pro but I didn't think about it at the time. If I upgrade to QuickTime 7.5 now, will the license I purchased for QuickTime Pro 7.0.3 work with QuickTime 7.5, or will my 7.0.3 Pro license be dumped and I will have to buy another $30 Pro license for 7.5?

Normally it will be right in the middle of the page, a big blue button that says "Free Download Now". If you don't see that, your web browser isn't showing the entire page. You might try a different browser. You can also download it from here:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/QuickTime7_5_5_forWindows
though that site is down for maintenance right now.

    I got this notice:
    "Dear Customer,

To install the updated sound driver follow the steps below:

    2. In the Control Panel Home view, click Uninstall a program
    3. Select Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and uninstall the driver by following the instructions on

    4. Download the updated driver from the Toshiba website

If I create a restore point before ding this, if it all goes wrong will I be able to system restore and have the old sound driver working?
Is the driver folder found in Device Manager and Sound, Video and Game Controllers?
    Many thanks.
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Yes, if you would create the restore point before you will perform the driver installation then you will be able to restore the system to the early time point and you will get the old sound driver back on you system.
I think this is a good idea to create the restore point.

  • Will the original livetype data work with the newest version of livetype?

i am looking to update from the original livetype to the version that came with final cut studio 2. i dont have the data dvds for the newest program anymore but i do have the ones from the original version. if i install the newer version will my old data still work?

No. the entire file paradigm was changed.
I have no trouble saying I doubt your story. People in this business generally do not treat $1200 applications or $600 upgrade disks so casually. If you have your receipts, just call Apple.

  • Will the iPhone 4s still be supported until 2016?

Will the iPhone 4s still be supported by Apple until 2016? What I mean by supported is that if it is still going to be on Apple's website?
    1. Until when will the iPhone 4s be supported by Apple? Because I remember before that the 3GS was still on Apple's website when it was already 2012.
    2. Is the iPhone 4 still supported? Because I can still see in the App Store that in the requirements they still say iPhone 4 and above
    3. Will iOs 8 support the 4s when it gets released in the future?
    Thanks!

I want to install one more airport in my home to expand coverage. Will the two units still function independently?

You can configure two AirPort Base Stations to operate independently if you so choose, but taken literally that will conflict with your goal of expanding coverage. Why do you ask?

  • Will the lightning USB adapter work with regular USB jump drives?

Will the lightning USB adapter work with regular USB jump drives?

    Not really.
Technically, with some USB drives (I've had a 50% success rate) you can import photos or videos off the drive - thi those photos or video follow a very strict naming convention.
But you cannot import anything but photos or video and there is zero support to write off the iPad to the flash drive....so while it technically may work, it's so limited to effectively not work.

  • No animation or videos will play from Firefox, but other browsers still work fine. I have checked plugins and even updated to the Firefox 14 beta - no fix

As of yesterday no animation or videos will play from Firefox, but other browsers still work fine. I have checked plugins and even updated to the Firefox 14 beta today, but this did not fix the problem.
this problem started yesterday; before then there was no problem.
I have updated everything I can find, and ran a system restore and disc clean.
The problem still persists. What am I missing here?

This happened to me too. This problem started suddenly with no changes made on my part. I had 11.2 Flash version with Firefox 13. I tried updating to the new Firefox, same problem, then updated to Flash 11.3. I even uninstalled RealPlayer.
I read a solution on another forum and it was as easy as clearing my cache. Everything works fine now (even after reinstalling RealPlayer and allowing the download button function).
