Uprgaded to 6.0.4, now my computer runs like a turtle

I just upgraded from itunes 5 to 6.0.4
Now my CPU usage is thru the roof and programs take forever to open up. Even tasks as simple as switching windows to other app's take a few seconds.
I have 1GB of RAM i don't understand why this is happening but it all started after I upgraded iTunes.
Any thoughts?

Did you recently use Internet Explorer?
Obviously Internet Explorer is set as preferred web browser and doesn't know how to handle the link from 'New Music Weekly'.
The only way I know to set your preferred web browser is to go to the preferences in Safari.
Select the 'General' icon and then choose 'Safari' at 'Default Web Browser:'
All links you click on, will now be directed to Safari, which nows what to do.

If I may, I suggest that you try to work through the issues before considering a reinstall. Reinstallation should be the avenue of last resort as it is the ultimate invasive strategy and will not necessarily solve the issues and can sometimes cause complications.
What I do recommend is that, if you do not already have one, you should make a backup of your HDD. The ideal way to do it is to backup to an external Firewire HDD using a utility like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to clone your internal HDD to the Firewire HDD.
Take a look at the Dr. Smoke's FAQ I linked earlier, if you have not already done so. It does offer good ideas.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

My macbook pro froze last night and I held the power button down to restart the computer. Now the computer will not even start up. Any ideas what may have happened?

While searching the internet last night my Macbook pro froze up and would not respond to anything. I restarted the computer and now the computer will not ecen start up. It will go to the gray screen with the apple sign. It is there working for 10 seconds and finally shuts down again. Any ideas how to get the computer to come back to life?

I deleted the SystemConfiguration folder on OSX Yosemite and now my computer won't reboot.

I need some help. My WiFi connection kept disconnecting all the time so I looked on here and saw that you could fix the problem by following these steps
Navigate to /Library/Preferences using either method:
Terminal: open -a Finder /Library/Preferences
Finder: Open New Finder Window -> "Go" -> "Go To Folder ..." -> [ Type In: /Library/Preferences ]
Backup the folder "SystemConfiguration" by copying it to your Desktop.
Delete the folder as it sits in /Library/Preferences.
Done.
I didn't back up my SystemConfiguration folder and now my computer won't start up again. It gets frozen halfway on the reboot screen.
I don't know what to do. Please help.

Do you have TimeMachine backup? If so you could try to recover(⌘+R) to the last available one.
Unfortunately other than that the only option for you seems to be reinstalling the OS.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

I moved all my photos to my external drive. I then deleted my iphoto library and re-imported them from the external. Once iphoto created it's folder structure on my external, I deleted mine. Now my computer just "beach balls" all day when I turn it on.

i have a 2006 iMac with a 160 HD and 1GB of ram. I recently got a 2TB external hard drive and transfered all my pictures to that. Once I had a solid folder structure for my photos, I dragged them all to iPhoto. Once iPhoto had created its own folder structure of my photos, I deleted my own folder structure, so that I wouldn't have multiple copies. It all sounded like a great plan, but now my computer just "beach balls" every time I turn it on.

What does this have to do with iPhoto? If you're computer isn't starting up properly I'd be posting on the OS forum for whatever version of the OS you have.
