Uprgrade to Cloud on two Macs from a single set of CS disks?

We were running CS5 legally on two Macs (from one set of disks) and now want to upgrade to Creative Cloud on both computers. Does anyone know if Adobe will let us get the upgrade price for both? We only have one serial number.

a single user license allows one user to install on up to two computers.
to get upgrade pricing and to install cc you do not need to have a previous version installed. having the previous version's serial number is sufficient.

Booting two Macs from one external drive: 10.8 and App Store?

I boot two Macs from one external harddrive. Does this mean that when 10.8 is sold exclusively via the App Store and thereby linked to a unique hardware identifier, I am going to have issues with activation/authentification each time I switch machines? I have avoided the App Store since I discovered that an app I bought there, and which I really needed to open automatically on log-in, had to be manually re-activated with my Apple ID after every switch (so that I eventually deleted it and reverted to an earlier, non-App Store version).

There are a couple of "solutions" to your problem. The easiest, and possibly the best for you (although it is a bit slower) is to copy your catalog onto the external drive as well.
Then when you plug in the drive, you will always have your latest catalog for access.
The other way is to keep a local copy of your catalog, and copy it onto the local drive as a way to transfer it from one computer to the other.
This has the problem of possibly not being in sync, that is, you forgot to copy it over once and did some editing. Then you would end up with essentually two different catalogs, instead of one in two places.
You can copy the catalog either with your OS, or you can "export as catalog" and specify the external drive as the destination. Then, on your other computer, "import from catalog" and only take the meta-data settings (it's on the import dialog box).
Personally, when I'm traveling, I have my catalog on my external drive as well. It just makes life easier, and I don't have to worry about it being out of sync, or losing it (and not the images).
So, I would go with the first method, at least to start. To get your catalog over there, you can either export as catalog or copy it, either one will work.
You can find the location of your catalog file (if you don't know where it is) in the catalog settings menu prompt. Both the location and the name will be displayed.

Restoring two macs from one time machine backup

A little while ago my mid 2010 MBP's HDD died on me. Whilst I was waiting to sort out my MBP, I restored from time machine to my mac mini so that I had a machine to work from. Then I fixed my MBP by installing new drives (SSD and HDD where the optical drive used to be), and using migration assitant to copy everything over from time machine (as the SSD boot drive was not big enough to do a simple restore). So now I technically have two machines the same, except my MBP is running Lion 10.7.5.
Only problem is when I try to update the MBP with Mavericks it tells me it cannot install on this machine. Is this because I restored the same original mac to two new machines? I cannnot open mac mail either on the MBP. There is about 55 GB of space on my boot drive, and my mac meets all the requirements for Mavericks (it was running it prior to the HDD dying, but because I installed dual drives it has complicated the restore process).

Well I never did find a solution to this specific problem. So I simply went and bought a bigger SSD (the 480GB SSD M500), and did a restore to that drive from time machine, which worked perfectly. Now I shall just remove some of the more data hungry folders to my 1TB HDD installed in the optical drive bay. I shall no doubt be setting myself up for a more complicated restore procedure in the future, but hey ho, right now my machine is blisteringly fast!

How do I download Mail to two Macs from server?

Lion seems peculiar about this: if I check my (imap att.net) email from my Macbook, the messages load just fine. When I go to my iMac and check email, the messages that have already downloaded to my Macbook aren't offered by the server anymore--they don't download--AND, even stranger, my inbox is mostly empty because messages don't seem to stay locally saved (i.e., on my Mac drive). That means there isn't an archive of all my emails on both my macs for me to search when I need to; whichever Mac I happen to check email on first ends up having more messages. To find an old email, I have to search BOTH Macs, instead of like in Snow Leopard when each Mac would download the same group of new messages off my ISP's server.
Is this making sense? Basically, it seems that Lion only downloads messages from an email server once and then deletes the original from off the server, so my second Mac can't also download a matching set of incoming emails as well. How do I adjust my settings so that Mac doesn't delete new messages from the server, so I can also download the same messages to my second Mac as well?

Are you sure your mail account is IMAP? This sounds more like the behavior with a POP account than an IMAP account. With IMAP, messages are never downloaded; they are always on the server (unless manually copied) and just marked as being read. Please confirm your type of account and post back.

I have a MacBook Air and an iMac, both on the same Apple ID. I use the Calendar app daily. When I set up an "email alert," though, each computer sends me an email, so I end up with two copies of every Calendar reminder.

Just to eliminate possible causes of error ...
Could you stick a File Saver action block straight after the SQL Query. Ensure that this file saver is placed before the repeater.
Save the Output of your SQL Query as the Text of this file. Use a Unique Name for the file ...
e.g.
"C:/Temp/EmailTester_" & guid & ".txt"
The guid will ensure that you have a unique name for each run.
Use front-slash "/" instead of back-slash "\" in the link editor.
Check the results of the SQL query in the saved file when you are getting double emails. This will help you be certain about where the error is.

Booting Windows on Intel Mac from an external Firewire/USB hard disk?

Is it possible to boot an Intel iMac from an external hard disk - in target disk mode etc., without having to install Boot Camp?
I have a spare drive with installed XP on it and I need to find out what is on the drive before re-formatting. However, I only have my mac in which to do so. The extra disk will be used in an external firewire/USB 2.0 caddy. I have researched some methods, but they are all very long winded and require a PC or the creation of a Windows partition on my start-up disk using Boot Camp.

i have one table with 100 records and i want to create two tables each with 50 records and with no duplicates. if i will do on bases on empno then i have to check the min and max emp no and then divide them in two tables, is there any automate way of performing this task.

Creating two rows from a single row information

I have data that will always be returned as a single row from a join of tables t1, t2.
However I want the single row to be split into two rows. i.e First row containing some fields and second row containing th remaining fields.
I think there might be a thread already existing. Can you please point me in the right direction if it is.

Can I boot multiple Intel Macs from a single external drive

Hi,
We have a MacBook and Intel iMac. I'd like the flexibility to move some software and data between machines, depending on where I'm located and who else in the house needs to use a machine.
Would it work to put all of my software and data on a bootable partition on an external hard drive?
I know back in the Windows world, the operating system would go crazy each time I switched machines, detecting new hardware and installing new drivers (and probably making me go thru activation, too).
Would Tiger be able to handle the movement between machines without too much grief?
I've read some things about Spotlight's indexing behavior, so I'd plan to limit it to the boot drive so it wouldn't thrash itself to death everytime I switched machines.
Any tips/insights/warnings would be appreciated.

re: apps, i guess i have a different philosophy - apps are small (unless we're talking about garageband!). just install them where you need them...(assuming you're licensed to install on multiple machines yada yada)...
re: data - that's the whole ball of wax right there. what data are you trying to share? emails? databases? bookmarks?
syncing files across machines on a LAN is certainly possible and possibly also trivial, but it'd help if you specified the kinds of data you're looking to share...
re: both apps and data, consider too a regular backup strategy to an external drive and/or DVD media - decent blank DVDs are of order a dime per GB these days in qty...

Two HDTV on a single set top box

I want to have two televisions in my master bedroom suite so I can see the same program on both televisions. How do I wire the televisions to the STB?

Two options as i see it ...
Connect one TV via HDMI and the other via component cables. Both will give a high def output to each TV.
Or, purchase an HDCP compliant HDMI splitter and drive both TV's via HDMI by splitting the single HDMI output from the STB into two HDMI outputs which can be connected to each individual TV. Here's one such device ....

Does anyone have developed a custom Tag Cloud webpart in SharePoint 2010? I'm
looking for a custom Tag cloud based on keywords from a Term Set in the Term Store.
Unfortunately
out of the box Tag Cloud Web Part only reference the Social Tags from the User.
in my case editors have created pages and tagged a page using terms from the Term store.
What I would like to see is a web part which could display “Top Keywords”, and the output is something like this:

Two objects from one table

My current setup is two tables and two objects with a one to one relationship between them, Object and ObjectMD (metadata).
Not sure why my predecessors set it up like this but...that's how it is.
The problem is that my Object table (and thus ObjectMD also) has reached 40 million rows and large joins between Object and ObjectMD are taking forever and are completely unnecessary.
I want to import the ObjectMD data into the Object table and go forward with a single table. The problem is that the ObjectMD table has it's own java surrounding it and that code is used in way too many places to weed it out. I need to leave the Java object structure in place.
I think I should be able to create both these objects from a single table, but I can not figure out the descriptor. My set method needs to be getMetaData().setMethod, but of course TL's reflection doesn't like this. I suppose I could create new methods in Object to get/set all these fields and just forward them to the real methods.
How can I define descriptors to create two objects from a single table?

What I decided on for my last problem was to use a method to setBar, and inside that method, set the Foo of the Bar.

Vintage slideshow separate two pictures from single slide

Anyone an idea how to separate two pictures from a single slide in a Vintage Slideshow? And to put two different ones on a single slide?

To clarify a little bit more.......
Aperture offers to possibility to generate slideshows by using certain templates, e.g. Vintage .
So, dragged a few pictures into that template and Aperture generates a nice slideshows which could be adapted in certain aspects. And here comes my question.....certain slides contain two pictures, most of the slides only one picture. When the slideshows is build up in a way that there chain different motives or topics, you don't want that e.g. two different motives are on a single slide. So, I'm looking to separate those two pictures which Aperture picked to be put on a sinlge slide......
I haven't found any options yet, which let you control those automatic arrangement.....
so, does anyone has an idea?
