Upside down video

Hello,
i generate a DVD with Adobe Encore. everything was ok until watching the video. In fact, the video were upsidedown ?!?
I think i forget to do something or the automatic encoding is not the right choice ... my origin video is .avi.
Thank you to help me on this strange turnaround situation.
Melanie

Melanie,
As Jeff suggests, DivX (and Xvid) can cause this sort of problem. The file extension "AVI" is just a wrapper. All sorts of CODECs might be used in its creation. A freeware program, G-Spot, can tell you all about the file and also what CODECs are used, plus whether you have them properly installed on your system: www.headbands.com/gspot.
Let us know what it tells you about your AVI file, please.

  • Upside down video on vado central

Has anyone out there found a resolution to the upside down video after trying to create a video on Vado's software???
I am at wit's end with this company's software and so-called upgrades. Try to fix one problem caused by their software and you just get another, maybe worse, problem.
I followed Vado's directions exactly and got the Upside down video. Just read from another customer that there is no solution yet for this problem. And CL's tech, KokChoy is just confused and "guessing" his word at what could be a possible reason.

my cam is showing my picture upside down.  I have ASUS LAPTOP K53E.

  • Feature Request: To Tell You Are Taking Upside Down Video

As iOS 6 is about to release, I hope they can add this little feature to the camera.
It is easy to flip a picture back to how it should look if you hold the phone the wrong way. However, it will be more difficult to do so on a upside down video. Yes, it will look fine if I watch it with Quicktime, but not when I use other software / hardware.
Can the dev team add a little indicator to tell people they hold the phone upside down when taking video? Like make the flashlight button and front/back camera change button remain at the where it should be, and not follow the change of rotation.

  • Shoot Upside-down Video on Purpose

I saw a post on here about upside-down video happening to a guy by accident and it gave me an idea. I want to shoot upside-down on purpose and then rotate it to right side up. I do multicamera shoots by myself with preset cameras at different angles on tripods and a handheld for zooming and panning to get details (stage performances). Since I'm not always near them, there's always the danger of somebody bumping into the tripods and messing it up, the audience member who decides to stand up and yack with somebody for five minutes in front of a camera, or God forbid, just running off with one of my cameras. With todays lightweight cameras with super long run times and cheap memory it would be really easy to come up with some ceiling or wall mounts, maybe even magnetic, to hold a camera to a T-bar grid, I-beam, column, etc. upside-down. The camera tripod mounts are all on the bottom so designing a bracket to hold the cam right side up would complicate things a lot more, add weight, and make it hang lower. Of course all of the video would be digital and most likely AVCHD.  My question is would rotating the final footage cause any degredation of the video or is it all done while still digital without being uncompressed first. Anybody know?  Thanks.

I would stay away from magnets , because the digital media ( sd cards, chips in camera etc ) are not happy with magnetic stuff. Magnets tend to kill those things... so forget that idea.
You could use 750 pidgeons taped or screwed to walls, ceiling etc..or c-clamps with 750 stud to I beams, lots of stuff to use..with a gobo head and a PIN in head with thread on end to attach your camera ( can use thread adapters to go from 3/8 to 1/4 or 5/16 etc as needed ).. so anyway, however you attach doesnt matter but no magnets.
Turning cameras ( dutch angles, or vertical ) is common. With green screens of "people" its very common to turn camera vertical to get the MOST resolution for post work... and when that post work is DONE the result is put back into the horizontal frame for export. Here is sample of what I mean ...
    http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?79720-Shooting-vertically-more-resolution-in-p ost
You can see that the person FITS into frame better with vertical frame ( camera turned sideways )..so for post work you get more resolution to do that work. THEN when done with that you have to put that into a horizontal frame for export and final product....cause thats how we watch movies.
Cameras dont care how you turn them etc.. so the fact of " generational " loss etc is up to your editing program and how it handles the data and export etc.. has nothing to do with what 'angle' you shoot at etc. Of course, if you go to horizontal from vertical like with sample above, you are "reducing" the image of the person to fit the horizontal frame in the end product...so you don't lose anything except the size of person.. and again, all this boils down to what your editing software can do regarding exports in general.  So, no , you don't lose anything going upside down, cause who cares ? Not the camera.

  • Cleanly correct upside down video?

I filmed 40 minutes of aerial video by attached my camera to a trike ultralight the only way I could - hanging upside down.  At the time I figured that there would be a simple, fairly lossless way to right the video in my PPro CS3, but the only method I can find would be to put both the Horizontal Flip and Vertical Flip effects on the clip and make a new AVI file (I want it saved as archive footage for use in multiple projects).  Is there a better way?  Two flips seems like it would do more to the video quality than would be necessary to get the result I want, but...  If there is a way I'm not aware of to do it in the capture process somehow, I'm also happy to recapture it.

There should not be a need to re-Capture. In the Set Effects for your Clip(s), look at Motion in the Effects Control Panel. When you twirl-down, you will see Rotation. This Effect will correct your Clip. If you have more than one Clips, apply it to the first, and then Rt-click on it, and choose Copy. Select all other Clips (Lasso them) and then Rt-click and Apply Attributes.
If you have other Effects that are common (the word "common" is important), then apply all of these, and do, as above. This will apply ALL Effects to the selected Clips. If you have Effects that you do not want in the rest, be careful, as you will Copy all of the Effects.
    Good luck,

  • Cisco EX90 upside down video image

I am using EX90 with TC 7.1.4, my issue with camera which display my image on opposite side(upside down) even when I make a video call the other party will see my picture reversed upside down but I can see his picture fine.

That kind of sounds like the mechanism in the EX90/camera to detect when the camera is pointed downwards to use as a document camera is broken (or stuck).
Try flipping your camera down and back up a couple of times to see if this resolves the issue.
Failing that, I'd suggest you RMA your device through the TAC (assuming it's covered by an active service contract).

  • Help!  Upside down video.

I recorded a video on my iPhone.  When I imported it into iPhoto, I discovered that the video had recorded in an upside down orientation.  Is there any way to flip this video over?
    Thanks for your help!

Is there any way to flip this video over?
    Not in iPhoto.
But you can rotate it using iMoive.

  • Fixing upside down video in Adobe After Effects

Okay, I shot some footage using my iphone4, somehow my footage came out up side down so i am wondering if Adobe After Effects CS5.5 has a fix for that. Thanks.

Select your video in the Projects Panel. Right click and select New Comp From Selection. Select the video in the timeline. Press S to reveal the scale property. Click the icon that looks like a chain link to deselect Constrain Proportions. Type -100 in the second scale property.
    That's it.
You really need to go through the baiscs. You can't possibly learn AE by simply starting. Look here.

  • When I import a video from my PC into Itunes, it flips upside down, how do i fix that?

I created a video on my PC using Power Director 12, and it plays correctly. So, i imported the video into the iTunes app on the same PC, and in the viewing window, the video is upside down, when i copy it to the iPad it is upside down. I see posts concerning videos that were filmed upside down with the ipad, but that is not the case, this video played perfectly fine until it was imported into the itunes application, never leaving my PC. the file type is Mp4. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who knew how to prevent this from happening? or just why it is happening?
    thanks everyone for any help.

I'm not sure of your question.
Are you asking how to use Photoshop?
Or are you asking for the dimensions of video iMovie uses?
It edits in 720P HD, which is 1280x720.
You can make it a bit bigger so you can zoom in.
Much bigger then this is a waste of time.

  • Output Video Is Ghosted, Mirrored and Upside Down!

Posted this in the Media Encoder forum since I don't know where this fits best....
Not sure if this is Media Encoder or Premiere...
I made a videdo, about 4 minutes long. It's transcoded ProRes, on a PC, version 5,5 of the suite.
Basically when I was finished, I made a duplicate of the sequence and added some Magic Bullet Looks to all the video clips. I sent that to export. I also exported what I duplicated from, which did not have any colour correction, but a few clips had some denoising. Sent both versions to Media Encoder. The Colour corrected version shows a ghost image of the video, mirrored and upside down. Very strange.
Settings for export were the same for both, .h264, vimeo settings. Changed the framerates to 23, and set to render max quality, as well as to a CBR of 10Mbps.
Any idea what could be causing this?
    My first sequence exported fine.

Apologies for using 23 and not specifing.
Not ashamed to ask - what exactly is pulldown?
What are you talking about with the 3:2? I just changed the preset
framerate from 29.9 FPS to 23.976. Vimeo has never given me trouble when
doing this. From this thread in the Vimeo forums, changing the framerate
    should be fine. http://vimeo.com/forums/topic:34581
Or maybe there's some confusion? The weird mirrored, ghosting, glitchy
video was what happened right out of Media Encoder, so obviously I did not
    bother uploading it.
I usually changed the framerate in export to match footage and had no
problems. Is there any reason I should NOT do this? For example, I would
also do this when I export DSLR footage to MPEG-2 DVD, in the export
    settings I change to 23.976

  • When I send videos or photos by email they are sometimes received upside down.help.

When I email videos or photos they are sometimes received upside down.help.

You need to clarify your statement/question a little bit more. What device are using to take the photo? I assume that you are using your iPad, but I don't know that for a fact because you simply say "whenever I take a picture". I also assume that you are using the built in mail app and not a third party mail app, but can't say for sure about that either without more details from you.
When I take a photo with the iPad, if I attach/insert a photo in an email directly in the mail app, the photo defaults to the actual size, which is the highest resolution that it can be. The size of the photo can be made smaller, but it defaults to the largest size.
