Upstream U2 is down at my cab

Hi, checked my stats this morning to find that my modem had resynced, for somereason upstream path U2 as stopped, causing me to loose upload, ill post the stats, you can see the power on upstream is minus when it used to 4.5, and also you can see U2 clearly not communicating

sorry about not inline, its how it posted. Looks like theres a fault at the cab, initial band plan shows U2 but the final bandplan shows its not on.  Its also windy as hell here, very bad, but that wouldnt affect the band plan would it?, if there was a line fault my download speed wouldnt of gone up.

Sorry lol ...should be U3, anyway ive been searcing on the internet, found a few things, could be turned off because of a line fault, so would indicate the high winds blowing my drop cable.

  • How to setup the MDT Upstream server and down stream server

    Hi,
i have configured the MDT upstream server at office1 & i need to setup the downstream server at office2.
Image should be replicate from upstream server to downstream server and image should be build from
downstream server at office2 not upstream server. I need to use LAN network, not MAN network.
How i can setup the downstream MDT server?
Can you please suggest on this.
    Thanks!

    Hi Meganathen,
I would go for a periodically (scheduled) robocopy. Yes it's perfectly possible to create this with selection profiles and linked deploymentshares, but based on my own experiences and consulting other subject matter experts like MVP Johan Arwidmark, it is
advised to take care of replication yourself by robocopy or by DFSR
This way you are in control, and robocopy is a great tool to take care of replication of files.
To keep in mind your central deploymentshare and branche deploymentshare, you can play with the bootstrap.ini and customsettings.ini, that they will refer to a different deploymentshare location based on default gateway.

  • Crystal XI viewer will not open in Internet Explorer

I have a web site using ASP and we are using Crystal XI as our report program.  We developers have created the .msi file that is distributed to our QA and Production Servers so that all users can run reports and see them in Crystal Viewer using IE using any PC.
The problem is that only we developers can see the viewer in IE.  Any client that runs the reports on a virgin machine (no Crystal loaded) only gets an IE window with a red "x" in the upper left hand corner.
Does any one know why the viewer will not display?
The .msi file I created holds these fiels:
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Licence.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Runtime.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_ReportEngin.msm
    Microsoft_VC80_ALT_x86.msm
    Microsoft_VC80_CRT_x86.msm
Plus a dll that is custom to us.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?  As I said it works just fine (the viewer is show in IE) on any machine that has had Crystal Reports loaded prior to the run.

Intermittent rights issues when trying to auto-deploy ActiveX controls on a machine is very onerous to resolve.
Because of security concerns, typical corporate machines prohibit users from auto-downloading and installing ActiveX controls.
When the ActiveX control is required on a machine that's locked down, the ActiveXViewer.cab file must be physically copied to the machine, and a user with administrator (preferrably local admin) rights must manually install the CRViewer.inf found in the cab file.
CR.NET and Java Reporting Component has a HTML-based zero-client viewer, that do not encounter issues with ActiveX (unless the ActiveX print control need to be used for client-side printing).
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Critical Services on CSS - All or Any?

I've configured vip redundancy on a pair of 11506. I would like critical services defined to failover when ALL the services are down or the upstream gateway is down. The documentation isn't very clear on this. There are simple examples and only the one line about an ALL SERVICES option. (see below)
"Local critical services for any service other than scripted or redundancy
uplink, such as a Web service. The VR goes down when all associated local
    critical services go down."
I assume you do the ALL services option by creating multipe critical services under the IP Interface. But the documentation doesn't say. Am I right?

    Hi Gilles,
Thanks for the weekend reply! I'd read that section on critical services. It lists three options. The first two will fail if ANY of the configured keepalives fail while the third we clarified how to do an ALL option.
What I really want to do is fail over when the upstream gateway is unreachable OR all services are down (basically a hybrid ANY/ALL option).
Rather than build a separate service should I use the existing ones? I'm already using port specific keepalives under my services (port 80 and a custom application TCP port).
Can I add a second keepalive type to each service with the ping script listing the server IP and upstream router IP? That way if the router fails the service is down.
I'm guessing if it isn't possible to add a second keepalive to a service I will need to write a custom script to accomplish what I'm trying to do. No biggie I'm just looking for the quickest way to do this.
    Thanks in advance.

  • [SOLVED] ePDFView won't display all pictures

I'm having some issues with my ePDFView PDF reader. There are alot of pictures it simply won't display. About 25% of the pictures (in average) in my PDF documents shows up as grey blocks with the same shape and size as the original picture. This is the case for external documents (made by others), and my own home cooked ones.

Hmm, indeed. I hadn't noticed that. It seems that even the upstream website is down. I mainly use zathura, but epdfview has been working fine whenever I do use it.

  • Priority Setting with two separate DNS boxes working with one Xserve?

    Hi Admins,
I am pondering over a DNS setup question here. There are 2 MacMini boxes, both running Mac OS X 10.6.2 server with the DNS services. Each of them are connected to two separate physical networks form two different ISPs. The key server ( Xserve ) is connected to the two ISPs through each of the ethernet interfaces. Once the boxes are live the traffic is always routed through the ISP # 2 ( originally a backup ISP and hence a lower bandwidth connection ) which times out the users and is very very slow. The primary ISP is the one with the higher bandwidth and needs the traffic routed through it at all times. Only when the ISP#1 is down, the ISP#2 should take over.
Is there a way to prioritize one over the other. Currently I have the ISP#2 DNS box offline as it will otherwise gain priority and website page loads, mail and other key services will suffer. The registry entry with the domain seller has two dns entries for the the above two boxes.

Is there a way to prioritize one over the other
Sure - at least if I understand the question. Just change the order of the interfaces in System Preferences -> Network -> (gear wheel) -> Set Service Order.
The interface nearest the top of the list will have priority, so set ISP1's link there. If that link goes down ISP2's link will automatically take over the traffic.
This doesn't account for how users get to your network, of course - users may still try to connect via ISP#1's IP address, but that's a whole different kettle of fish.
Note that this method is based purely on the link-level - as long as ISP#1's interface has a link the OS will prefer that link, even if the upstream connection is down. At that level your option is to have a script that periodically checks the ISP#1's link and changes the default route setting on the host to point to ISP#2's router address.

  • What Lenovo notebook for Windows/Ubuntu dualboot

    Hey there,
can anyone recommend a notebook for Windows/Ubuntu dualboot? I've heard that there are many problems with UEFI. I would like to use Ubuntu 12.04.2.
Best wishes and thanks in advance!

T530 has been working prett y well for me since November or so... got it with 4GB RAM & 500GB SATA HD, because that was the best price/performance package I could afford at the time.  Since then got a little more OT pay and upgraded to 16GB RAM and a 256GB SSD, and moved the 500GB SATA HD to the UltraBay in lieu of the optical drive which I almost never used.
This model came with Windows 7 Professional, and I had zero problems setting it up for multi-boot.  I tinkered with several different distros - Ubuntu, openSUSE, Scientific, Mint, Fedora 18... Ubuntu was one of the smoothest installs, and pretty much everything - including almost all of the function keys for sleep, lock screen, volume, brightness, etc. work 'out of the box'.  Currently running Xubuntu on it for other reasons, but may go back to 'plain' Ubuntu sometime in the near future as not as many of the little things like the Fn keys work in Xubuntu as in mainstream Ubuntu.
Mine came with the oversized 9-cell battery pack, and that was the one thing that was a major complaint for me originally - the battery life under Linux (any flavor) was about half what it was in Win7; 2-3 hours vs 4-6.  The WebUpd8 site has a number of articles on adding various PPAs that help out with the battery life quite a bit - highly recommended.  Newer Linux kernels (since 12.04) are supposed to have better power management abilities, so I'm not sure 12.04 would be my first choice for that reason.  Some of the subsequent releases have been buggy enough that shorter battery life might be the lesser of two evils.  12.10 had some issues with one of the kernel releases (wasn't just Ubuntu, fwiw... saw the same problem on Fedora 18) right before 13.04 came out that caused problems - like unresponsive black screen after GRUB - with cards that have multiple video adapters (like the T530).  Installing the 'aftermarket' bumblebee drivers via PPA fixed that, while Ubuntu and the kernel team were still fumbling about.  FYI, the bumblebee drivers made a big difference in the power consumption as well.  Xubuntu recenly had a problem where a code error from upstream (XFCE) propagated down and caused semi-random (but very repeatable) logouts from X Windows.  That one has been going on 4+ months (12.10 and 13.04) and still not fixed in the mainstream version (had to install another PPA for a 'patch' to be able to run XFCE at all.  This is why I'm starting to debate about either going 'back' to the 12.04 LTS, or trying to hold things together long enough to get to 14.04 (next LTS)  and staying there until EOL for the hardware...
    YMMV,
    Monte

  • Interesting explanation and fix for obscure DNS problems

This blog is a real eye-opener:
*10.5.3 Fixes DNS Problems Plaguing Some Leopard Users*
    http://hunter.pairsite.com/blogs/blog20080603.html
    Who knew?!
"I had tangled with name lookup issues during early stages of Leopard development, and learned that Leopard changed the way name lookups were made.
"... Some people had been carrying DNS baggage for years with no idea, and this had likely been hampering name lookup operations at some level for a long time, even before 10.5 came along.
"In other cases, it was a major challenge. The average user doesn't know (and probably shouldn't need to know) where their DNS settings are, or what they do. And then consider the common situation of a user with a Mac connected to an Airport connected to a cable modem, with various DHCP leases sprinkled into the mix. In most of those cases, DNS settings are provided far upstream and inherited down through the line. The user may see no DNS settings on the Mac, or it might be using the address of the Airport router. The Airport might contain DNS settings inherited from the cable modem, which it picked up from the ISP through the DHCP lease. The issue then becomes one of figuring out where to purge old DNS settings, if that's even possible, and replacing or overriding them with known good ones (such as from OpenDNS.org). It was a challenge in many cases. Just convincing the user they had a DNS issue was a challenge in some cases!"

I think DNS lookup issues are relatively rare these days and so are perhaps not the obstacle to trouble-free internet access that they used to be in the days when ISPs were less Mac friendly and Apple seemed to have issues with DNS lookups without the network preferences having declared DNS server IPs. Even then, I think much of that was timing, with MacOS flavors at the time being rather more critical than ISPs expected and that Windows tends to be.
Much of the DNS hullabaloo had died out until recently, due to the appearance of active IPv6, which once again seemed have caused timing issues. Thankfully since IPv6 is not much in use yet, it can be switched off in the TCP/IP pane of the appropriate network preference and that seemed to cure DNS lookup issues for those who had them once again.
I've found though, both at work with our commercial T1s, and at home with my (not altogether Mac-friendly) ISP, that DNS has not been an issue sine perhaps the mid MacOS 10.3, or maybe even earlier. And as I found at the time when I had issues at home but not with the same system and configuration at work, it turned out to be the ISP's primary DNS server which was not configured correctly and timed out routinely.
Even with IPv6 still enabled I've not have DNS issues with any Mac for some time, and have not experienced any difference in internet behavior between 10.5.3 and anything prior. Even my iPhone, which had DNS problems if the first DNS IP was the local router, has been behaving correctly since the first firmware update last summer!

  • IMac lags on shutdown

my imac has been getting the little pin wheel on shut down. It used to shut down automatically.
Cab someone pleased help. Is there a solution? My iMac is 2.4 GHz

it has 29.87 GB free out of a 250 GB drive, also this has started happening today (copied from my macrumors thread on the same topic)
"now it is giving processor usage which isn't normal for me on what i do on a regular basis. i usually have about 85-95% idle, now its from 58%-76. i tried to shut down and restart my mac(still lagging on shutdown) but when i turned it back on it still had the same processor usage when i checked again. someone please help, im getting a little worried(being that when i switched to mac, the paranoia from having a windows machine and worrying about problems it might have stuck with me)"
sorry if this is posted twice, i just typed it up and it didnt show up on the thread, EDIT: i just realized it takes a minute or so to show up in the thread :P, ive got to read a bit more next time

  • Replica Synchronizing

Upstream server A. Down stream server B.
Initially A was getting updates from dodwsus. B was a replica of A. There was an issue with dodwsus and A was changed to download from Microsoft. B still replica of A. Synchronization fails when this is a replica is selected on server B. But if I uncheck
this is a replica, synchronization works. Due to policies A could not connect to Microsoft catalog using wsus console to download specific updates. Server can connect to Microsoft catalog using wsus console. So I changed them around and made server B
my upstream and server A my down stream. Server A can synchronize with server B, but when I select this is a replica synchronization fails.
Synchronization works both ways but fails when this is a replica is selected on either server. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I renamed the softwaredistribution.log file. I ran the synchronization first with the "this is a replica" not selected and it succeeded. Second with the "this is a replica" selected and it failed.
This post does not accept uploading text or word files. Only images. How do I get the softwaredistribution file posted here? Thanks

  • Firewire 800 connection down on an Intel iMac - software or hardware of cab

It appears that my Firewire connection from an intel imac 2GHz seems to be down. It is not showing up in the "More information" section in the in "About This Mac". Is this a software or hardware or cable issue?

    Reset PRAM and then OK

  • Very unbalanced connection and 0.0 S/N on upstream...

I assume we had water ingress at the end of last week and my connection became very unstable for a few days.
However it now seems to have settled down but there seems to be an issue with the uplink speed.
Our local cabinet is FTTC enabled but we are approximatly a mile away from it and are connected via a secondary cab.
My usual speeds are around 2.4 Mb downstream and around 400Kb upstream. However after the weekend I have only been able to get 64Kb upstream and the S/N ratio for upstream seems really weird.
I have tried the quiet line test by removing my master socket filter and plugged a phone ito the test socket. No detectable cracks and pops just the usual electronic background hum.
Also any advice if I could get the fiber enabled would be good. I obviously have quite good copper and understand I would not get the minimum speeds, just not sure if this is allowed. There are no alternatives where we live so any increase without sky high costs would be appreciated. I have considerd requesting FTTH, any idea of cost?
    Modem statistics are attached below...

OK got some stats screen captures and then powered off for about 5 minutes.
    Before Stats
    And immediatly after the reset.
Looking more like it's old self again. So I guess if this happens to me again I need to wait for the line to stabalise and then restart.
I'll leave it to bed in for this afternoon and post another set of stats in the evening.
Thanks for the help so far, I'll set the Accepted Answer once I have confirmed stability later today.

  • Need to have mail1 play nice with upstream mail server....

Switched to new mail server and hitting a problem. We have a debian linux box doing SPAM filtering further upstream from the mail server and then sending down to the new leopard mail1 box.
On the debian box we're seeing:

And mail isn't piping thru to the mail1 box. Here's the main.cf
    sh-3.2# cat main.cf
    # Global Postfix configuration file. This file lists only a subset
    # of all parameters. For the syntax, and for a complete parameter
    # list, see the postconf(5) manual page (command: "man 5 postconf").
    # For common configuration examples, see BASIC_CONFIGURATION_README
    # and STANDARD_CONFIGURATION_README. To find these documents, use
    # the command "postconf html_directory readme_directory", or go to
    # http://www.postfix.org/.
    # For best results, change no more than 2-3 parameters at a time,
    # and test if Postfix still works after every change.
    # SOFT BOUNCE
    # The soft_bounce parameter provides a limited safety net for
    # testing. When soft_bounce is enabled, mail will remain queued that
    # would otherwise bounce. This parameter disables locally-generated
    # bounces, and prevents the SMTP server from rejecting mail permanently
    # (by changing 5xx replies into 4xx replies). However, soft_bounce
    # is no cure for address rewriting mistakes or mail routing mistakes.

    # The local_recipient_maps parameter specifies optional lookup tables

    # to $mydestination, $inet_interfaces or $proxy_interfaces.
    # If this parameter is defined, then the SMTP server will reject
    # mail for unknown local users. This parameter is defined by default.

    # local_recipient_maps = (i.e. empty).

    # delivery agent for local delivery. You need to update the
    # local_recipient_maps setting if:
    # - You define $mydestination domain recipients in files other than
    # /etc/passwd, /etc/aliases, or the $virtual_alias_maps files.
    # For example, you define $mydestination domain recipients in
    # the $virtual_mailbox_maps files.
    # - You redefine the local delivery agent in master.cf.
    # - You redefine the "local_transport" setting in main.cf.
    # - You use the "luser_relay", "mailbox_transport", or "fallback_transport"
    # feature of the Postfix local delivery agent (see local(8)).
    # Details are described in the LOCAL_RECIPIENT_README file.
    # Beware: if the Postfix SMTP server runs chrooted, you probably have
    # to access the passwd file via the proxymap service, in order to
    # overcome chroot restrictions. The alternative, having a copy of
    # the system passwd file in the chroot jail is just not practical.

    # in postconf(5).
    # You can specify the list of "trusted" network addresses by hand
    # or you can let Postfix do it for you (which is the default).
    # By default (mynetworks_style = subnet), Postfix "trusts" SMTP
    # clients in the same IP subnetworks as the local machine.
    # On Linux, this does works correctly only with interfaces specified
    # with the "ifconfig" command.
    # Specify "mynetworks_style = class" when Postfix should "trust" SMTP
    # clients in the same IP class A/B/C networks as the local machine.
    # Don't do this with a dialup site - it would cause Postfix to "trust"
    # your entire provider's network. Instead, specify an explicit
