Export 500gb database size to a 100gb file system space in oracle 10g
Hi All,
Please let me the know the procedure to export 500gb database to a 100gb file system space. Please let me know the procedure.user533548 wrote:
Hi Linda,
The database version is 10g and OS is linux. Can we use filesize parameter for the export. Please advice on this.FILESIZE will limit the size of a file in case you specify multiple dumpfiles. You could also could specify multiple dump directory (in different FS) when given multiple dumpfiles.
For instance :
dumpfile=dump_dir1:file1,dump_dir2:file2,dump_dir3:file3...Nicolas. -
When I take a picture with my iPhone and then forward the picture to an emaila ddress (regardless of picture size) it will not send the email with the pciture enclosed - any thoughts on how to fix ?????
Thanks -The collum to the right listed similar problems. The solution appears to be that under smtp outgoing settings the user name and password are listed as optional. I have not plugged in the information and it seems to be working. However from my office it always allowed the relaying. The true test will be when I try to respond later from the road.
Thank you for your help. -
when making changes to the I/O buffer size( motu-pci 424) it takes an abnormal length of time for the changes to take affect any ideas?
A fully loaded one( keep in mind I have had fully loaded projects in the past, and it did not take this long) this was noticed after installing LP8, also major latencey even at 64 buffer size

So I have a daily Exchange Environment Report running that kicks the output to a public folder and I check this stuff daily. The script is found here:
http://www.stevieg.org/2011/06/exchange-environment-report/
So what I'm concerned about is the amount of "Database Disk Free" from the above report and the output is as follows:
I have 1TB LUNs on my Exchange DBs
DB01, "Database Size" is 250GB.
DB01, "Database White Space" is 2.5GB.
DB01, "Database Disk Free is 50%.
When I run via PS: Get-MailboxDatabase -Status | select ServerName,Name,DatabaseSize it shows DB01 as being 250GB.
I asked my SAN guy to see if he can take a look at it and he stated you are using 50% of the volume. That doesn't make sense. I should only be using 25% of the 1TB volume. I have another DB02 showing the exact same discrepency. If I look at
the physical location on the actual server I see the .edb file as being 250GB and there is a folder in there CatalogData... which is about 13GB. All this doesn't add up. How can I have .edb files that are 250GB and very little white space
and this report is showing I'm using 50% of a 1TB volume?
I have 4 other DBs that seem to show the correct space usage.

Mailbox Database Size/White Space Reduction in a DAG
I have several large databases in which I'm moving mailboxes off of in an attempt to prevent my LUNs from running out of disk space. As well, I have several mailboxes of users who have left the company. My questions are as follows:
1. When I run remove-mailbox -id "some mailbox" -permanent $true, the mailbox is deleted from Exchange relatively instantly. Will Exchange recoup the white space that is left behind after the mailbox has been deleted so that the
database shrinks in size? Or will it just start writing over the white space rather than growing the size of the database?
2. Perataining to mailboxes that have been moved, if "Keep Deleted Mailboxes for" is set to 4 days on the database that holds mailboxes that I'm moving off, will the database hold onto the mailbox (even though it has successfully been moved to
another database) for the duration of the "Keep Deleted Mailboxes for" setting? Or will the mailbox be hard deleted after the move completes successfully?
3. As part of Online Maintenance, will Exchange defrag a databse and decrease the white space, thereby shrinking the database size or will I have to take it offline to do that?
4. What are the procedures to perform an Offline Defrag of an Exchange Databse? How risky is this?Hello,
To answer your questions:
1. When and online database defrag completes a pass on the database it will reclaim this as whitespace in the database. It will not however reclaim space on the disk by shrinking the .edb file. An offline defrag is required for that.
2. Moved mailbox will not be hard deleted until the 4 day retention period has past, unless you manually purge them using Remove-StoreMailbox.
3. Related to the answer for number 1. Exchange will fill whitespace as mailboxes grow, but it will not reclaim disk space.
4. In a DAG you will you need to dismount the mailbox database and run eseutil /d against the active database copy. This is a relatively low risk procedure, but requires databases to be offline thus interrupting mailbox access. It can also
take quite along time depending on the database size. The rate of defrag estimated by MS is 9 GB/hr. Here is a reference:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/192185/en-us
For these types of situations my preference (If disk space allows) is to move all mailboxes to a fresh database then delete the database with excessive white space -
I have deleted a large number of records from a database which accounted for much of the space being used as it was not needed at this time. When I take a backup of the database will the size of the db I then restore from this backup be reduced or should
I shrink the database first. Didn't want to have to perform a shrink operation if not necessary as I've seen posts that it affects performance.
Thanks
RobertIf you have deleted chunks of data and take the backup the size of the backup will be reduced. However if you want to release the unused space from the running database(with out backup and restore), you could do a shrink
Have a look at this link

from

I've blogged about this where I admonished folks to "Don't
touch that shrink button!" but sometimes... Sometimes you need to.

Exchange 2013 Database Size didn't reduction after user move another DB.
Hi, I have two Exchange Server Ex01, Ex02 and two database DB1 and DB2. Already we move few user DB1 to DB2 but DB1 database size didn't reduction after move user.
Md. Ramin HossainHi ,
If you delete or move a mailbox from a database will not create a free space on that database.Instead a white-space will be created on that database during the online defragmentation and that will not make any changes on the physical size of the database
.Then that white-space will be used when a new mailbox is created on that same database.
In case if you wanted to convert those white space to free space then you need to do an offline defragmentaion and that will make the physical change in the size of the database
Note : For offline defragmentation we should have the database to be in a dismounted state.
Command for offline defragmentation :
eseutil /d "path of the edb file"
But my suggestion would be to move the mailboxes to the newly created database instead of doing the offline defragmentation to attain the free space .Because it would take too much of time for the large databases to get completed.
Reference link for offline defragmentation :
http://exchangeserverpro.com/defrag-exchange-2010-mailbox-database/
Command to see the white space on the mailbox database :
ESEUTIL /MS "path of the edb file"
To execute the above we need the database to be in a dismounted state.

Tables are deleted but database size does not change in sql server 2008r2
Hi All,
20GB Tables are deleted in my database but database size does not change and disk size showing same size.Hi ,
I have ran the Disk usage by Top Tables report and Identified couple of tables with unwanted data for last 5 years. I have deleted the data for the first 3 years and then ran the Disk usage by Top Tables report again. When I compared the report before
and after the data deletion, I have noticed certain facts which is not matching with what I know or learned from experts like you. The following are the points where I am looking for clarification:
1.Reserved (KB) has been reduced. I was expecting the data Reserved (KB) will remain the same after the data deletion.
2. The Data(KB) and Indexes(KB) fields have been reduced as expected. The Unused(KB) field have been increased as expected.
I was expecting the total of Data(KB) and Indexes(KB) field space gained will be equal to the Unused(KB) field gained after deleting the data. But that is not the case. When I deducted(subtracted) the difference in the Reserved(KB)(Difference before
and after data deletion) field from the Total of space gained from the data deletion is equal to the Unused(KB) gained field value.
I am not a SQL expert and not questioning but trying to understand whether we really gain space by deleting data from the tables. Also keen to get the concepts right, but my testing by deleting some records confused me.
Looking ahead to all your expert advice.
Thanks,

I have an iMac. , mid 2007. Frequently, when I take an action, the little color wheel starts spinning and goes on for quite awhile. Save a file, close a file, open a file, open a window, it's all random. Somtimes it stalls, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes long, sometims short. Why is this happening?
Consider adding more memory. Be sure you have adequate free space on the hard drive - 15 GBs or 10% of the drive's capacity, whichever is greater. Do not run too many applications concurrently. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on resolving the SBBOD.
Do some maintenance:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. Drive Genius provides additional tools not found in Disk Warrior. Versions 1.5.1 and later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems. For more about malware see Macintosh Virus Guide.
I would also recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
Carbon Copy Cloner
Data Backup
Deja Vu
SuperDuper!
SyncTwoFolders
Synk Pro
Synk Standard
Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space. -
What is the best practice on mailbox database size in exchange 2013
Hi,
does anybody have any links to good sites that gives some pros/cons when it comes to the mailbox database sizes in exchange 2013? I've tried to google it - but hasn't found any good answers. I would like to know if I really need more than 5 mailbox databases
or not on my exchange environment.Hi
As far as I know, 2TB is recommended maximum database size for Exchange 2013 databases.

I have a database of names. When I go to the database and pull up names I right click on the option "Open in new tab". I would like to bring up 200 names and do the same function simultaaneously to them like, add a vote to their total individual vote count. Is this possible?
I ended up reformating the drive as FAT32 because I still need to use it on my Windows 98SE system also. I did have a problem with the allocation size. I wanted to use 512 bytes but it kept failing so I used the default size(8192 bytes) and then it worked fine. I didn't think there would be a problem formatting as NTFS but since you are having problems I just tried it. It failed at 512 bytes allocation size so I tried again using 4096 bytes, the default, as the allocation size and it failed again. It looks like these drives will not format as NTFS.
Also, I think I figured out what's going on with the ReadyBoost problem. As I said initially it wouldn't work with ReadyBoost then after I had 12GB of data on the drive the ReadyBoost feature started working. After I deleted all the files it quit working again. After doing some reading on the net about Flash drives and ReadyBoost problems it appears that the memory chips on my Lenovo Flash drive are mixed with both fast memory chips that work fine with ReadyBoost and slower memory chips that are too slow for ReadyBoost. Apparently, after I fill up the portion of memory with data that uses the slow chip(s) then ReadyBoost works fine with the fast chip(s). I also verified the Flash drives read and write memory speeds using Vista's Event Viewer. To work with ReadyBoost the Flash drive has to read at a minimum of 2.5MB/s (for 4KB random reads) and write at a minimum of 1.75MB/s (for 512KB random writes).

Hello Experts,
I have complex Biz Talk 2013 farm having 20 servers,15 Hosts. In my production environment even if there is no traffic i am getting throttling errors from SCOM for my all the production hosts.
Error : One of the BizTalk Server processes in the affected computer is being throttled for significant
periods because of high database size exceeding the threshold
I checked following things:
1. MsgBoxDB size 748732 KB
2. Spool table size 53 MB
3. Tracking DB size 26724 KB
4. Host settings -- Message Queue Size = 100, MsgCount = 50000 , Spool MP = 10 , Tracking MP = 10
5. Ran Message Box viewer and did not found any error related to DB size. (which counter i should focus on in MBV)
Note -- for DB i am sharing full backup size because it does not have log file size.
Please suggest where i should focus?
Is SCOM reporting correctly because everything is fine in biztalk ?
Thanks
Yagya

I remember this error from SCOM when you use the standard SCOM BizTalk pack.
Check the eventlog of the server, do you see any errors in event log, this could give some clue to the root cause. Whenever you have this alert from SCOM, you must have
some entries in eventlog relating to the alert raised by SCOM.
Is your message processing by BizTalk hosts are normal? Run the performance monitor to see the bottleneck. Check if there is really throttling.
As mentioned in this blog, check the state of the SQL Agent on BizTalk's SQL database server, may be try restart the SQL Agent on BizTalk's SQL database server.

I used scripting brigde to add a movie that has size bigger than 5GB, exactly after two minutes iTunes return a failed, but the processing of the file is actually added to iTunes Library successfully. The copying take more than 5 minutes to complete. Why the iTunes Scripting Brigde returned failed when it is actually success? It occurred exactly 2 minutes after submit the request to Scripting Brigde. Is this 2 minutes related to the Apple Event time out? if it does, how do I get around this problem? thx
I can tell you that this is some of the absolutely worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I found out from a store employee that when they are really busy with calls, they have third party companies taking overflow calls. One of those companies is Xerox. What can a Xerox call center rep possibly be able to authorize on a Verizon account? I'm Sure there is a ton of misinformation out there due to this. They don't note the accounts properly or so everyone can see them. I have been transferred before and have asked if they work for Verizon or a third party also and was refused an answer so, apparently they aren't required to disclose that information. I spent a long time in the store on my last visit and it's not just customers that get the runaround. It happens to the store employees as well and it's beyond frustrating.

When I take my iPod Touch to service do I need to take my receipt?
I am taking my iPod Touch 4th Generation in to Apple store to get sercide. My Home Button as stopped working and my software is really slow. However, my main question is when I take my iPod in to the Apple store for servicing do I need to take a receipt.
Any help is appreciated
thanksA receipt is probably not necessary, since Apple can look up the warranty status in their own database. It won't hurt to have the receipt along if you have it, though, in case there is any question about the purchase date.
Regards.
