Problems in exporting Urdu data to pdf through Crystal Report 2008
Hi,
We have a designed a crystal report in latest Crystal Report SP2. The database used is MS Access, the data is in Urdu langauge. The data is displayed properly on crystal report main preview.
The problem is only when we export the report to PDF there is a data loss. The content is not properly exported.
Some additional unexpected characters are also getting inserted.
But the same content is proper if we export the report into .rtf or .doc format.
I have tried this with Arial Unicode MS and C-DAC UROT-GIST Galid fonts.
Please help.
Regards,
Sitaram Gaikwad
C-DAC GISTCR only support UTF-8 fonts.
Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly:

Urdu support in Oracle Forms 9i
Requirement:
============
We have an application in Oracle Forms & Report 9i Rel 2 and Database 9i Rel 2.
There is a client requirement to provide Urdu support in this application.
We have to enter Urdu data in few forms and print it in PDF reports.
Problem:
===========
We created new database with AL32UTF8 Character Set with same National
Character Set for Unicode support.
Developed a form and report on a table with NVARCHAR2 data type.
Edited nls_lang entries in Registry to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32.UTF8
Installed Urdu Support in WinXp
Database stores and retrieves Urdu and displays Oracle SQL Developer.
Oracle form stores/retrieves Urdu characters but it fails to type
complete words and sentences.
On typing 2nd, 3rd characters of a words all characters position mix up
randomly and produce garbage.
Oracle report don't show Urdu characters in run-time but it shows the
same in Report Builder.
Further more, Our group of applications works in Materialized View Replication environment [5-6 applications consolidate data at a Central Database]. If we change Character Set of one application's database to Unicode then is it must to apply the change in all databases of replication group.
Please suggest if Oracle IDS 9i or 10g provides support for Urdu. If yes then please suggest solution of the above stated problems.
Looking forward for your quick response.You would have much more possibilities to have your question answered if you posted it in Oracle Forms forum.....

Localization support on Oracle products: Arabic/Urdu
We need to work solution to enable both the database and front-end
applications with Urdu characters. So, that the tables can store urdu
character data and form can display and input urdu data, while reports
can show urdu data.
I was thinking, some of the people did this. Tell me even if anyone has
done this with Arabic characters. There are several available for
Arabic, i believe it should cover all urdu characters. Has anyone worked
on Locale Builder ?
I want to build a Dictionary of English/Urdu.
thanks

[email protected]We run Oracle databases and application servers without any problems.
In the licencing documentations zones are explictly mentioned as capped zones are supported to partition a system.
So if you have an eight-core maschine but give the zone only one, you have only to licence this core.
Have a look at this document
http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/pricing/partitioning-070609.pdf
As said before if your software does not need low level access to the hardware or the kernel (as eg. a backup server or a nfs server) it should run fine into a zone. -

nullIgnore my previous post. I misread the question.
There is no support for using ActiveX in JDeveloper. What you would need to do is to wrap your activex in a Java class and then you'd be able to use that java class in your project. There may be some facilities available somewhere on the internet that would help you doing that. I just don't know of any.

nullHi,
- I am using Oracle Forms [32 bit] Versión 5.0.6.23.1 and Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 as database.
- The process can be reproduced in a stand alone form. You need to access a table with a RAW column in which the file is stored and put that column in an OLE Container.
- It works with filetypes .xls, .doc, .pdf but (sometimes, not always) not with filetype .TIF (with an MS Imaging program associated).
- I have 2 errors:
This would be something like "The file 'C:\DOCUME~1\CAPEST~1\CONFIG~1\Temp\PKGnnn.TIF' (or one of its components) can be found. Be sure that the path and the filename are corrects and all the libraries are ready".
- "No se puede abrir el archivo 'C:\DOCUME~1\CAPEST~1\CONFIG~1\Temp\PKGnnn.TIF'. Compruebe el nombre de archivo y los permisos." ("The file 'C:\DOCUME~1\CAPEST~1\CONFIG~1\Temp\PKGnnn.TIF' can´t be open. Check the filename and the grants."
I hope this help.

i have a problem that urdu and english data is stored in my database in oracle 9i rel2. english data is working properly.. but urdu is not... when i use SELECT statement, only ???????? are returned...and if i write urdu word in where claus... oracle gives error.
select * from nls_database_parameters
where parameter = any('NLS_CHARACTERSET','NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET')
returns
NLS_CHARACTERSET = WE8MSWIN1252
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET = AL16UTF16
kindly help me how can handle this problem.. please reply [email protected]
thanks.
Farhan G.Urdu is not listed in the Globalization Guide locale data.
Anyway WE8MSWIN1252 can only store latin characters not arabic ones;
Maybe you could try to use AL32UTF8 as database character set because it's an universal character set that is supposed to be stored any existing character available in Unicode 4.0. -
How to enter URDU Language data in Oracle
hi,
im having great problems in entering Urdu Language data in Oracle 9i rel.2 database on win2000 ad. server having my client PCs on windows xp,, then front end of our application being in developing process,,in .net framework,,using vb.net,,now windows xp is supporting urdu and data in urdu language is entered properly from the front end application but oracle is not supporting it,, and not displaying right translated characters,,my country is Pakistan,,laguage is Urdu,,the character set of my database is we8mswin1252 and national character set is al16utf16,,
plz help me wriggle out the situation.

umarI am not completely certain what Oracle character sets support Urdu, but I can say that Windows-1252 certainly does not. You probably want to use UTF-8 as the database character set.
Unfortunately, changing the database character set generally requires rebuilding the database. You cannot use the ALTER DATABASE command here, since UTF-8 is not a strict binary superset of Windows-1252.

DATA INPUT IN URDU LANGUAGE WITH ENGLISH
Dear brother
Asalam-o-Alekum
I want to do some inputs in URDU, ENGLISH mix in my Form.
For example:
I put the name in Item Name : Pepsi Cola 200 ml..............The same item name input need in URDU but the (200 ml) is in Number & English. Its mean that I want to do inputs in URDU, NUMBERS, ENLISH.
After the inputs we required to print in URDU also.
I also want to understand step by step solution
I am using Database 10g on Windows SERVER 2003 (32 BIT) NLS_LANGUAGE = AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252.
I am using Forms6i & Report6i on Windows 7 (32 BIT).
If any one having a solution please forward to meHi,
For English-Urdu bi-lingual support you need to have your database created to use the appropriate character set for Urdu. WE8 in WE8MSWIN1252 stands for Western Europe 8bit. You need to find the right character set for Urdu and use it when creating your database.
If you db is already created and populated with another char set then the conversion may be a little complex.
Once your DB has the right char set, you also need to change your Dev 6i Forms Char set in the Windows registry. Look for AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252 and change it to the same value as what you used in the DB.

Displaying urdu characters in report builder
Dear All!
i've stored urdu characters in database and it's displaying correctly in form builder and Toad.
But on sql plus and in report builder some urdu characters are not displaying e.g پ،گ،ڈ،ٹ etc.
should i need to make changes in "uifont.ali" to display characters in report builder or data storage is not properly done?
or, is it just supporting arabic characters?

How to use urdu characters in forms6i
I use forms6i as frontend and oracle 8i and 9i as database.I want to input URDU characters in text item using form6i and want to store the same in databse.Here majority of bussiness and oranizational data is stored in files using software inpage which maps keyborad keys to URDU font.Any one can help me how to use the same in text item using form6i bulider.
Whenever I have trouble with fonts from a different language I set the type in Illustrator, convert the type to outlines, then import the AI file into AE as a composition.
Sometimes setting the type in Photoshop has also helped.
If you must have the fonts so you can use text animators try looking for OT fonts that fill the bill. Open OpenType fonts are a lot less problematic than Post Script or True Type fonts. Take a look HERE for some sources. I haven't checked out any of the fonts listed but it looks promising.
dear the main problem is keyboard in INPAGE2004 we use standard Phonetic keyboard and link which you gave it download the fonts and i copied it brings the urdu but not correct urdu suppose if we make a sentance (my name is chimi) in english it is ok and when i type it for urdu it brings different urdu wording not the correct wording, it type different type of urdu characters which makes no sense. It is possbile if i found a font which give me the correct wording as Phonetic keyboard give me in AE, -

into ?????? while getting it in Access VBA.I assume that "to get the data from the table into VBA" means that you assign a value from a recordset or from a form field that is bount to a recordset to a variable, e.g.,
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Dim UrduString As String
Set rs = CurrentDB.OpenRecordset("UrduTable")
UrduString = rs!SomeField
In this assignment, the data in UrduString is not modified in any way, it is completely identical to the data in the table.
However, if you look at it in the VBA Editor, e.g. with
Debug.Print UrduString
it displays as ???????. This is because of a limitation in the VBA Editor: It cannot properly *display* the contents of the Urdu string, allthough VBA correctly *stores* this content.
What do you mean by "putting the data on LPT1"? Something like
Open "LPT1:" For Binary Access Write As #1
Put #1, , UrduText
You will need to output the text in binary format. If you try to write in text format, it will indeed get transformed from Unicode to ANSI, thus producing the ????.
