URENT ITUNES QUESTION

hi, i have itunes latest version for pc.. whenever i "add folder to libary" the music duplicates i have over 500 songs so its a pain to remove the duplicate songs. but how can i change it so that when i "add file to folder" all the new songs in that folder will appear in i tunes... It used to do this ....... hurry

Well, whenever I add songs that are already in iTunes, I get duplicates, too.
Just add the new songs, not the whole folder.

New! Importing iPhoto files onto an iPhone 3G with iTunes question
Posted: Aug 14, 2008 9:07 AM Reply Email
    So letme get this striaght...
You first create an album in iPhoto 08 with just the images you want put onto your iPhone 3G.
NEXT: you connect tou iPhone 3G and iTunews will open. You go to the iPhone in iTunes and select the photo tag and then select the album you had made for import and sync it with you iPhone. Will large image files automatically be resized for use on the iPhone 3G?
Most of my .JPG files are from 4 -5 MB each in size. What will it do with a RAW image file?

I am not 100% sure, but i BELIEVE that they do get resized because as it's syncing with the iPhone, iTunes will state that it is optimizing the selected photos for the iPhone, just like we would see for the iPod.

  • Sync iOS Apps to iTunes - Questions on how exactly this works...

I'm going to put my questions up top, but my understanding of the current system is below, and may be relevant to the questions, if you'd like to read through it.
How can I back up / restore a SINGLE app, including its data (e.g. a game save file), to either iTunes or the cloud... or anything else for that matter. Does syncing an app to iTunes serve this purpose?
What IS the purpose of syncing an iOS app to iTunes? Does this sync include the data stored on my iOS device? For example, if I have a game in which I've made progress, is this progress stored on both my iPhone and my Mac once I've synced the app to iTunes?
If data IS synced along with the app, how is this data managed? Say I have two iPhones, both with the same game but different progress in each. If I sync iPhone A with iTunes, then sync iPhone B, will iPhone A's data overwrite iPhone B's? Or are there two versions of this app floating around on my mac?
If data is NOT synced along with the app, why on earth would I want a bunch of huge storage-hogging iOS apps that are identical to what I could download from the App Store taking up GIGABYTES of space on my MacBook's SSD?
And finally, should the answer to question 4 be "there is no reason to store 42GB worth of useless apps on your 256GB SSD alongside your already gigantic iOS device backup files," how would I go about removing these apps stored in iTunes without iTunes trying to delete them from my iOS device every time I want to sync some TV shows or podcasts?
    My Understanding So Far:
Of the many things Apple has addressed and improved upon over the years, backing up iOS app data has strangely not been one of them. As I understand it, the only way to back up an app, including its data (e.g. the save data for a game), is to do a FULL backup of the ENTIRE device. The only way to restore an app, including the data that you backed up, is to restore the ENTIRE device, all other apps included, to a previous state.
The driving force behind these questions is that I'd like the option to delete an app from my iPhone when I'm finished with it - but I'd also like the option to re-download it in the future and pick up where I left off. In a perfect world, all these apps would automatically sync through iCloud or GameCenter, or at least have that option to "upload to iCloud" or "restore from iCloud." Even with these apps, I'm not entirely sure where the backed up files exist - somewhere on my iCloud drive separate from my iPhone backup, photos, contacts, etc? Is there a way to see a list of apps that are storing things in my iCloud drive, and even manage this data?
So if I wanted to back up an app's data that does NOT automatically back up to iCloud, it seems my only option would be to install one of the many 3rd party Mac <-> iOS data transfer apps, and copy the contents of the "Documents" folder to a designated directory on my Mac. Then I could delete the app off my iPhone. Say in the future I re-download the app - I'd use the same data transfer app to copy the backed-up data to the re-downloaded app's Documents folder, and we're back in business. The only downside is that if it's been a while and the app has undergone updates, this backed-up data might be corrupt or no longer relevant. Plus, it's kind of a hassle.
When I discovered iTunes was syncing my apps to my Mac, I thought it might be serving as a way to back up my apps, data included, to my computer. Okay, it seemed like a little overkill to sync the whole app along with the data, but when I discovered that you could UPDATE the apps within iTunes, I thought apple had solved the problem of storing backed-up data for out-of-date versions of an app - simply update the app in iTunes, it does what's necessary to your backed-up data, and when you want to put the app back on your iPhone, voila! Your old data's there, AND you've got the most recent version! But apparently this is not at all how iTunes app syncing works.
As I NOW understand it, when iTunes "syncs" an app to your Mac, it includes only the app's core data - the same as if you'd just downloaded it from the App Store, and it does so for EVERYTHING you've purchased, ever, whether or not it's on any of your iOS devices. I can see how this could be convenient if you live on a farm and want to restore an old app to your iPhone without an internet connection, but I don't think it's worth, unexaggerated, a FIFTH of my hard drive. Worse, I can't figure out how to get rid of them.
    TL;DR
So, if you're still with me, what is the purpose of iTunes App Sync, and if it's as useless as I think it is, how do I get rid of it for good?

You can upgrade to Snow Leopard and skip over Leopard, and only upgrade to Lion later if wanted/needed. snow Leopard specs/requirements below.

  • Two iTUnes questions...

I have two questions that experienced users may be able to answer:
    - Most of my albums show in itunes with all the songs that belong to it. However, some Albums show one album cover for each single song on the album. How can I unify all songs that belong to one album into one album cover on itunes (I did already check if the underlying album information differs from song to song, but it seems to appear identical)?
    - How can I ad album art work to all songs of one album simultaneously and not have to drag and drop for each single song of an album while playing the song?
Anyones help and hints are highly appreciated!

    1) http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1468
Select all the tracks at once and make sure Artist and Album are correct. Then head over to the options tab, and check and uncheck "Part of a Compilation"=Yes/No.
    2) Click on the words *Now Playing* above the artwork. It will change to *Selected Item*. You can select all the tracks at once (without them playing), and drag the artwork into it.
edit- Call me superstitious, but I think you have a chance of corrupting your tracks by writing tags to them while they're playing.

  • 2 iTunes questions/issues

I had to recently reinstall Snow Leopard, now I have to issues. 1) when I double click on songs in my iTunes the music doesn't play. I have to right click and then hit play, how do I enable double click again? 2) my iTunes is now set as my default internet music player, how do I change this? 3) a General question, my DSL was with Verizon, now that has been transferred to Frontier. When navigating to web sites it seems that there is an issue with Frontier & Safari. How do I know this? I changed my PC to Safari from Explorer and now I am having the same issue on both my iMac and PC...no wonder they were trying to push me to Foxfire. Is anyone else having this issue, and have you been able to resolve it?

  • Quite possibly the stupidest iTunes question ever!

I almost never listened to iTunes until recently; I used it to manage content that I only listened to on my iPod. Now I find myself listening to iTunes a lot, seated in front of my computer.
Here's my question: Why do some playlists play straight through, while others don't? I have a few playlists that require me to click on each individual song to hear it - it won't just play through.
What do I need to do to make my iTunes playlists play all the way through?!?
Acer TravelMate 4070 1.73 Ghz 504 RAM Windows XP Pro SP2; iTunes v6.0.4.2

    hiya!
(sorry Zevoneer ... you answer wasn't displaying for me when i made my previous post)
I'll just have to get into the habit of unchecking them when I'm done, or I'll end up filling his iPod mini up with "crap" he'd never want to listen to. ;-)
hmmmm. using "Only update checked songs" can get a little unmanageable when you're trying to keep a lot of songs of an ipod.
why not try "Automatically update selected playlists only" instead?
create a new playlist ("mini syncing"?) containing the songs that you think he can stomach on the ipod.
then go into your "ipod" preferences tab (while the ipod is plugged in and showing up in the sourcelist), select "Automatically update selected playlists only", select "mini syncing" in the window under that, uncheck "update checked songs only", and click okay.
then you'd manage what goes on the ipod by moving songs in and out of the "mini syncing" playlist in itunes, and then syncing the mini.
(and you can recheck all the songs in your itunes library without having that affect what goes on the ipod.)

  • Two iTunes questions in regards to my podcast

Question #1 - I put up episode #7 late laswt week, but it still isn't listed in iTunes. Any idea why?
Question #2 - On the page where my podcast is listed it says it is under the literature heading, but when I go to that heading I don't see it listed amongst the rest. Anyone know why that might be?

    1. Is your feed still valid? Did you ping iTunes?
    From the Tech Spec:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=FEEDID
where FEEDID is your iTunes podcast numeric ID.
    2. It's a popularity thing. There are thousands of podcasts in that category. Very difficult to make the top 100 or the featured list. Or, if you are talking about the browse feature, the categories seem to be limited to about a thousand listings. If your 'cast wasn't in the first thousand submitted, it probably won't show up there.

  • Itunes Questions

I'm fairly new to Itunes and have a couple questions.
    1) I have my music on an external drive. I have about 500 folders, each containing the music from one CD, organized by album name. This music is not downloaded from the web, but is copied from my own CDs.
I want to keep my music organized this way. I have loaded it into Itunes by dragging each folder to Browse window in Itunes. I have set Itunes to NOT copy my music or to let Itunes organize it.
Is there a better/faster/automatic way for me to get my music into Itunes? I want to be able to tell Itunes "Here are the folders on the disk. For each folder, create a folder in Itunes. Then, for each file in the folder on the disk, create that entry in Itunes in the correct folder."
    2) My external drive used to be USB2; now it is FW2. One of the problems with USB2 was that it would sleep and dismount, and Itunes would forget the connections. In other words, even though nothing had changed, Itunes could no longer find the music file that was still right where it was supposed to me.
Is there a utility that looks at all the entries in Itunes and finds the file it's supposed to be linked to by matching the folder name and file name in Itunes with the folder name and file name on the disk?
    Thanks for any help.

If you have a backup copy of your songs and videos, restore them from your backup. If not, there is a small chance you may be able to redownload them for free by submitting a request on one of the forms linked to from this page; if it doesn't work out, you will need to purchase them again if you want them back. At least one person has been granted a free redownload.
Updating your copy of iTunes to the current version will not erase anything from the iTunes library.

  • IPhone/iTunes question

I have two questions. One, how do I download selected songs from my iTunes folder on my Mac to my iPhone?
Two, is there a good site for video tutorials on iPhone?
    mahalo

I would like the ability to browse the iTunes store on the iPhone when on the EDGE network and add them to a "download queue" that downloads only when WiFi access is available or when I am back on my home computer.
To me and many other people, the iTunes store on the iPhone serves as a great way to purchase and download new music on the fly. This is the most useful when I want a new song I hear on the radio or from a friend, etc. But since the iPhone store is only accessible via WiFi, the instant ability to find the song and purchase it is unavailable when I most want to use it. I usually forget the name of the artist or song by the time I get to a wifi network or computer.
This feature I'm requesting would allow me to purchase a song anytime anywhere but would not complicate or slow down downloads because they would not be allowed over EDGE. Thanks!

  • Touch 3g and iTunes question

    Hello,
I apologize for the below question as I'm not the most tech savvy person.
I recently restored my I touch and was originally able to go onto my original I tunes and re sync my music onto it. Recently my I touch reverted back to the new restored I touch on I tunes and I started to download my music onto it. Now it has reverted back to the original I tunes and all the music that I put onto the new I touch is gone. Can I somehow get rid of the old I tunes so it is now only my new restored I touch. I tried to download music onto the old I tunes and it never took.
    Thanks.

How do I delete all the music from the iTouch and iTunes 100% and start fresh?
    Thanks

  • Latest iTunes Questions

    Hello,
This morning I updated iTunes 10.7.0 to 11.0.1.
On previous versions of iTunes, the Music playlist contained ALL my tracks from all my albums.
    After this recent update:
I noticed that all my eMusic albums have been separated into their own playlist called eMusic. I would rather have all my music in the Music playlist.
    1) How can I move all eMusic albums and tracks into the Music playlist?
    2) Can I safely delete the eMusic playlist?
    3) How can I make sure that the eMusic playlist will not be recreated?
    4) How can I make sure that all future added music from eMusic goes into the Music playlist?
I also noticed that not all tracks from some of the albums are listed in either playlist (eMusic or Music). For example, the first 4 tracks from an album are listed but the remaining tracks are not. I found that I could go to File, Add file to Library and select the missing files. They then will appear in the playlist with the first 4. However, this is time consuming.
My guess is that not all albums were processed correctly by the upgrade.
    5) Is there a way I can have iTunes re-read the file structure adding the missing tracks WITHOUT causing duplicates AND WITHOUT loosing current information (play count, date last played, etc)?
Thank you in advance for your kind help.

    Hello all,
Since I have gotten no response yet, I thought I would try to answer my own questions.
    1) How can I move all eMusic albums and tracks into the Music playlist?
In the eMusic playlist: Edit, Select All,  right click on one of the highlighted tracks. Add to playlist and select the Music playlist. Adding the number of items in the previous eMusic and Music playlists confirmed that adding all the tracks in the eMusic playlist to the Music playlist was successful.
    2) Can I safely delete the eMusic playlist?
I hope so. Once I successfully added the contents of the eMusic playlist to the Music playlist, I deleted the eMusic playlist.
    3) How can I make sure that the eMusic playlist will not be recreated?
    Time will tell.
    4) How can I make sure that all future added music from eMusic goes into the Music playlist?
Time will tell. Since I deleted the eMusic playlist, I would expect it to stay deleted.
    5) Is there a way I can have iTunes re-read the file structure adding the missing tracks WITHOUT causing duplicates AND WITHOUT loosing current information (play count, date last played, etc)?
I still need help with this one, I have thousands of tracks that did not make it over to the Music (or any other) playlist during the upgrade to iTunes 11.0.1.

  • Some Itunes questions

Itunes is not new to me, but I do have a few questions.
    1. I use my moms Itunes account but now have my own. How do I move the music and apps from her account to mine on a different computer.
    2. Is there a way to sync content from another account if your old computer crashed?
    3. I have some music on a flash drive and have put it on itunes, but I have to have the flash drive pluged in to listen to on my computer and to put on my ipod. How do I fix this?

    1)  You cannot move it to another account, but you can move it to another computer.  You can copy it wherever you like.  You will have to authorize your computer for her account so you can use the apps and music.
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
    2) It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very reason.  If your old computer crashed, simply use your backup copy to put everything back.  You can also transfer itunes purchases from an ipod.
