Urg:Dos windows settings (Quick Edit Mode)

Hi All
I want to disable the DOS Windows Quick Edit Mode settings while launching my Java application.Is there anyway so that I can disable the DOS windows Quick Edit Mode settings from command while running my Java Program.This is reqd as my java application hangs and keeps waiting if someone presses mouse click for copying in the dos window.

With javaw the dos console still comes up for the first time and if i close it the javaw.exe keeps running in the background.
So I would expect that dos console not come up for the first time also.Also when I use javaw -help it gives me an error pop up message.
By the way I modified the sortcut batch file for my java appln and then in the dos window the qick edit mode is disabled.

The problem does not appear, if PH Elements 13 is executed in the administrator mode.
The available computer resources are rather large enough: CPU INTEL i7 4 cores, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 32GB SSD, Windows 8.1.
Please, advice how to solve this problem? Maybe, there is patch or updating available?

Thank you for the quick answer. In the meantime I found other way to pass by the problem. I increased the cache level up to the maximum value 8.
The errors reported as "No more virtual tiles can be allocated" vanish, but I still do not understand, why PSE 13 cannot work properly by the lower cache levels, having available maximum resources it needed (10443 MB RAM and 26.53GB SSD space for scratches), or cannot collaborate with the fast SSDs properly.

File too large for quick edit mode

just bought a 12 mega pixil camera. using the photoshop album has been great until now. i can not use the files for quick edit. i can import the files from my camera after doing the recomended steps but in quick edit mode i am not able to do anything with the files. I can totogglento CS and that's the only way to do any editing but it is time consuming. After a wedding i have about 2000 photos to edit and it's just fufrustratingo have to toggle each time for a quick fix like auto balance, i have 1G of RAM and i have version 3 and have had no luck.

More information on this issue....
I am importing them as JPEG.
I have cropped the photos by 1/100th of it's original size so by definition i am reducing the pixels.
ie, original jpg file is 3.5 MG photo:4368x2912 file type is jpg
camera canon eos 5d
error message is: "the photo you are tying to edit is too large and cannot be eidited. please try usign adobe photoshop or adobe photoshop element s to eidt this photo."

Quick Edit Mode and InfoPath form

I have a SharePoint list that has a InfoPath customized form.
The InfoPath form has two drop down fields that have a Data Connection to a another support SharePoint list
The connection allows the second drop down list to be filtered by what the user chooses in the first drop down list (cascading fields).
The data in the support SharePoint list is updated.
If a user edits an item using the InfoPath form all is good BUT if a user edits an item in the Quick edit mode the drop down list fields are not updated with the changes in the support list.
I think this is because if InfoPath is not used the data connection is not invoked and the support list changes are not pushed down to the consuming SharePoint list.
Is there anyway a user can edit an item directly in the SharePoint list and still get the data updated in support lists that use a data connection in the InfoPath form?

Yes，it is by default that the Quick Edit feature cannot consume InfoPath data connection. Cascaded Lookup function is not supported on Quick Edit Mode in SharePoint 2013.
As far as I know, there is no solution to enable cascaded lookup function on Quick Edit Mode.

Quick Edit mode with Aperture

Using Elements 11 as an external editor for Aperture. In Quick mode the changes are not saved to Aperture. Expert mode works fine and Quick worked ok using Elements 9, What's up with the new program?

It's by design that the Managed Metadata column in Quick Edit doesn't support the data paste from excel and will display this
validation message.
It seems you would use the third party tool suggested by teylyn to bulk update the list Managed Metadata column vallues as a workaround per the following similar

The Dos window disappeared quickly after Tomcat 3.1 started

Hello,
I need to see the debug statements of my web app.But the start window of Tomcat 4.1 disappeared quickly after it's launch.The Tomcat just work ok.I don't
have a Java Web Services Developers Pack in my computer.The Tomcat is stand alone.
Even Tomcat 4.0 in JBuilder7.0 of my machine got the same problem.

I'm not entirely sure how Tomcat 4 standalone handles this but there are several other options you could try.
You could attempt to run tomcat from the command line rather than from a BAT file, ie. startup a DOS window and type 'startup' and press enter (you will be able to do this from anywhere if you have the 'bin' directory of your Tomcat installation in your PATH environment variable, otherwise you will have to navigate to this directory to run it).
If this doesn't work, search for a file in your Tomcat installation directory called 'catalina.out'. It may be under a 'logs' directory. If you can find this then you may find that this is where your std output is. If you are using an editor such as Textpad, it will prompt you to reload itself whenever the file has changed and you are trying to view it so it's not too much trouble.

Totals Missing from Datasheet (Quick Edit) Mode

After migrating a site to 2013, there are issues with Datasheet Mode. There were Totals at the end of a few columns on it but now they are missing. I have tried re-creating the views etc and turning off and on the Totals options on the columns but they are
still missing. This is a massive problem for a lot of our users. Has anyone got any ideas on how to switch these back on? Thanks

Problem with window repaint and scrollbars in edit mode (LabVIEW 8.0.1)

I am running LabVIEW 8.0.1 in Windows XP SP3. For my main VI, I ran into a strange problem about 5 months ago. The front panel window - in both edit mode and run mode - stopped repainting itself on the right side which is most visible when you scroll up and down, but also visible with overlapping windows. Coincident with the repaint problem, both scrollbars look disabled with greyed-out arrows and no boxes in the bars that you can click and drag to scroll the window. The scrollbars still partially work if you hover the mouse over them and roll the mouse wheel but clicking and dragging doesn't work.
The front panel has lots of controls and indicators including tab-control containers and is larger in the horizontal and vertical directions so both scrollbars should be active. But I deleted all elements on the front panel and everything in the block diagram and the problem persists. So the problem is not directly related to some control/indicator display.
I saved the simple VI with this problem (using a wide text line and a tall rounded box to test), then created a new VI and copied the two elements to the new VI. This new VI does not have the repaint and scrollbar problem. The two VIs differ slightly in memory usage and in revision number (the bad one is revision 1785 and the good one is revision 3), but otherwise the two VIs are identical. I attached both VIs to this posting. When you first open the bad VI, you'll see the disabled scrollbars whereas the good VI has active scrollbars. To replicate the repaint problem, scroll the window up and down with your mouse wheel. If it's fine when you first open the VI, click on another window, then click back on the VI window and try the mouse wheel again. This clicking-away-and-back always causes the repaint problem for me. I tried the VIs on two different computers both running Windows XP SP3 and LabVIEW 8.0.1 with identical results.
Here's what I discovered from troubleshooting with the simple VIs:
* scrollbars always disabled
* repaint problem in main window for window widths larger then 680 pixels
* repaint problem in main window menu toolbar for widths larger than 646 pixels
* entire window becomes disabled for window widths larger than 1348 pixels
* can repaint window by minimizing and restoring, but only repaints that one time
* scrollbar boxes sometimes flicker into view but then disappear
* scroll left and right by hovering mouse over horizontal scrollbar and using mouse wheel
I found something similar on this forum (thread: Problem with front panel refresh) - it might be related to the CAR about the panel being offset internally. I don't have access to LabVIEW 8.5 or later and don't plan to upgrade - I haven't tried the trial version as that user did. I could try to copy and paste my entire block diagram to a new VI but the VI is so large I'm afraid something would break, plus I don't want this to happen again in a few months. The problem seemed to occur after a certain number of saves (or revision number). I save backup copies often and when the problem first happened, I was able to go back to a previous version, make the missing changes and save it with no problems, but this only delayed the problem and it came up later. So maybe it's the revision number. It didn't seem related to a particular addition or modification in the front panel or diagram.
The image attached shows the repaint and scrollbar problems in the bad VI.
This brings up a question I have - if this problem is a bug and was fixed in 8.5 and later, is there a way to apply bug fixes to earlier versions? Or do I have to pay for an upgrade to fix such bugs?

Seems something got corrupted with this VI. Copy things over to a fresh VI and things should be OK.

Elements 7 reverts back to 'full' edit page, from 'quick' edit page

Hello, first post here. When I have 7 on the 'quick' edit page, and open a photo on my windows page using 'open with', it now reverts back the 'full' edit page. Very frustrating. My Elements 4 doesn't do that. my Elements 7 didn't used to do it. I recently did the Camera Raw 5-6 update, and that's when it started.
How do I go back the making edit page stay where I want it to?

If I understand correctly, this is what's happening with you:
You have the Elements 7 Editor open. It's in the Quick Edit mode.
You have a picture in Windows Explorer, and you are right-clicking on it, selecting Open With, and then picking the Photoshop Elements Editor to open it with.
When the image opens in Elements Editor, it switches to Full Edit mode.
Is that correct?
If so, I cannot reproduce the problem. I tried with Camera Raw version 4.5, and with 5.6, and didn't have any issues. I was trying with JPEG and raw file formats, and there was no change.
Try manually resetting the preferences, and see if perhaps that helps. To do so, rename or move one of the following folders:
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0
Vista:
C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0
Then open the Editor, which will re-create the preferences files, and see if that helps.
If that doesn't help, please provide additional information about your computer's configuration as well as a detailed list of the exact steps you are taking when this problem occurs.

Can't open photos in edit mode

I can;t open photos in edit mode in iPhoto '08. When I double click on a photo the main window remains blank (no "!" no"?"). This problem occurs with every photo in the library. My permissions are OK. I've also tried setting the preferences to edit in Photoshop but double clicking on the photos then still accomplishes nothing.

Do you get a blank white window in the edit mode? If so that may mean you do not have access to the files. Try the following:download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
FYI:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

The tool box in Full Photo Edit mode disappeared. How do I retrieve it?

I was using the tool box last night, and thought I had properly closed down and shut off Photoshop Elements 9. But today, when I moved some pictures into full edit mode, there is no tool box on the left side. The tool box for Quick edit mode is present, but no tool bar shows at all in full edit mode. What have I done wrong--and how do I get the tool box back?

Only using Quick Edit to interact with a list/view in Sharepoint 2013

I would like users to only interact with a view in Quick Edit mode as it has all the functions I need (Edit,add and delete) without having to open Web Forms. Is there a way to hide the "New Item" link on all current and future views for a list?

If you want to hide "+ New Item" which come as web part top left corner, then edit web part
Select "Data Sheet view" as default view from "Selected view" drop down of "edit web part property"
- "Data Sheet view" as web part don't show " + New Item" link.
If that list is display as web part in any of the page not as data sheet view as default then below steps will help.
Make "Toolbar type" as No toolbar just below selected view
Change view style to default to "Basic table" from "Edit the current view" of "edit web part property"
If you want to remove "new item" from file tab of ribbon, then permission need to be removed as contributor to read only.

Quick Edit Columns Grayed Out, Unable to Edit Data

I have a custom list that i want to edit using quick edit. some of the columns are editiable in quick edit mode but many are not. the column type is Multiple lines of text and when i click on it the column is grayed out and cannot be edited. any advice is

Please check if there are more related ULS logs in 15 hive.
And also try saving this library as a template and create a new libarary based on it, then check if issue still exists, then change the "multiple lines of text" type
Enhanced rich text to
Rich text (even Plain text) if possible, then check again.

How to get out of tex edit mode with a single button?

Hey,
Is there a way to escape from text edit mode with a single click or button?
So far I always hit CTRL+Enter, then V and then I click away from the canvas so that the paragraph ain't higlighted no more. But thats a pain in the butt! Cant there be a single button for this?

Something interesting I just noticed: Double-clicking outside a text box can have different effects according to context.
With the Pointer tool selected, double-clicking on a text box allows you to edit the text. In this "quick edit" mode, double-clicking outside the text box will return you to the Pointer tool.
If the Text tool has been selected manually, double-clicking outside a text box will create a new text box.
