Urgent!!! 9i to 10g

Hi!
I need a help urgent!!
Our production DB is 9i R2 and we would like to have a separeted DB for
BI and Reporting purposes (on 10gR2).
So, the source is 9i R2 and the standby will be 10g R2.
Is it possible to use Oracle Streams with
Change Data Control(CDC) from 9i R2 to 10g R2?

I see no reason that you couldn't use either Oracle Streams or Oracle Change Data Capture (CDC) to propagate changes from a 9.2 database to a 10.2 database. Those two technologies are very different animals, though, you'd almost certainly want just one or the other.
On the other hand, it would seem much more sensible to me to use a standby database for you BI and reporting system, which would require the two systems to be at the same Oracle release. I would also tend to question the wisdom of asynchronous data replication to a reporting system. Most reporting systems I've seen tend to want to refresh the data once a day, incorporating the refreshing of any summary information (materialized views, OLAP cubes, etc). Most business users also want the report they run at 9:00 am to agree with the report they run at 5:00 pm, ignoring any transactions that had occurred over the course of the day. From their perspective, it tends to be more difficult to dig into data issues when the data is in constant flux.

You say you have 10.1.3.0 and your message says "There are no patches that need to applied from the patchset Oracle application Server Patchset *10.2.3.5*"
You can't patch 10.1.2 with a 10.1.3.
are you sure you have the appropriated patch?

Very Urgent - Export Oracle 10G and Import Oracle 9i

Dear Friends,
I am in a very tense sitution. Please help to sort out this problem. I am running an application against Oracle 10G. Now I want the the data of the application running under 10G(server A) to be imported to Oracle 9i (another Server B) and run the same application. What should I do so that i can export the data from Oracle 10G and import in Oracle 9i.

You need to post your question in the database forum. This forum is for Oracle Forms. There are database tools such as SQL Developer that let you move data back and forth between databases.

URGENT: globalization in 10g/9i

Is it possible to have a single database instance of 10g or 9i to handle the following:
1) support all languages in the world
2) Example: store employee details in local language. Like Japan employees info in Japanese, China employees in Chinese, etc. Is this feasible?
3) When user with OS language set as "Japanese", they should see whatever data stored in Japanese as Japanese, and other language data as it is(not in Japanese)
4) What parameter/value has to be set in INIT.ORA ?
5) What are the performance impact due to this?

Oracle supports this but to do a full blown implementation including application development requires planning. By the way you should contact support for urgent isuues. You can start by looking at the Globalization Guide and the following following white papers to get an idea of what needs to be done:

hallo.. pls can some one give me a lasting solutionto this problem i encountered while installing oracle 10g.
When ever the installation reaches 88%, it brings an error message which says " Thrown when the IP address of a host cannot be determined"... the system has an assigned IP address

Two scenario i will explain you for installation.
(1) if your pc is not connected to network or says its in star configuration and do not have DNS configured ( more than one pc may in same workgroup)than you need to add Microsoft LoopBack adapter(using add hardware wizard) which creates virual network environment and configured this adapter using static ip says 10.10.0.1 and DNS 127.0.0.1 and add this ip in host file(10.10.0.1).Make sure you change/add computer name(fully qualigied) manually using compuer name change screen e.g. xyz.abc.com ->xyz is your computer name and abc.com will become your domain name. add this entry in host file like
10.10.0.1 xyz.abc.com xyz
keep 127.0.0.1 as it is in hosts file. and you would be okay. I did same this for my installation.
N.B when we install windows its only provide computer name by default with out domain so that we need to configure.Make sure during installation your machine should not have dynamic IP.
(2) if it is connected to network than you need proper DNS name and specific IP for you machine from your DNS admin. add those entries in hosts file like i mentioned in option 1.you I am sure that also will work in your case.
oracle Installation needs static ip and fully qualified Domain name for installation.depend upon the situation you can follow either steps. I did installation on windows as well as sun solaris and working fine.

"The libnjni9.so is found in two locations in a 9.x installation, $ORACLE_HOME/lib and $ORACLE_HOME/lib32.
For example:
cd $ORACLE_HOME find . -name "libnjni9.so" -print
./lib/libnjni9.so
./lib32/libnjni9.so
If the LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes the $ORACLE_HOME/lib but not $ORACLE_HOME/lib32 that is likely the problem.
Add the $ORACLE_HOME/lib32 to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable and ensure that it appears before the reference to $ORACLE_HOME/lib in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH statement.
For example with a C shell:
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH =/app/oracle/product/9.0.1/lib32:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH "
I would assume the same holds true for 10g.

IP address of a host cannot be found

Hello:
I am trying to install Oracle 10g on a Windows 2003 server. The server does not have a static IP address. Using DHCP, it does get assigned a Dynamic IP address during server boot sequence.
After the Oracle Home is defined during installation, pressing next produces this error window, "Thrown when IP address of a host cannot be determinded." The options are retry, Cancel and continue.
When I continue, it goes through the rest of the installation and the Network configuration fails. When I see the Windows services, there is no tns service installed.
Can somebody suggest a resolution for this problem.

that suggested a solution for this problem. Basically, I was told to create an entry in the Hosts file that relates the IP to the name.
My question is since I am using DHCP, the IP number will change periodically. So, do I have to ensure that I change the hosts file as well whenever it changes?
Your feedback will be appreciated.
BTW, when I made the changes to the Hosts file, I did not get the error message and the installation was successful.

Urgent: need weekly, monthly report function in 6i for 10g

Hi, we are trying to move some reports built in 6i to 10g. Need some help urgently.
The y-axis is values, x-axis is date, if there is a value between 2 dates, , a line will connect them. If there is no value, it will skip it and try next date. I have two problems here to create same graph in 10g.
1. The report built in 6i has a function you can specify a graphic x-axis for a time period, i.e., from date1 to date2, then choose, weekly, monthly or quarterly.... dates will be put into those period accordingly by the report builder automatically. Do we still have this kind of function in 10g?
2. How can graph builder in 10g skip a date and jump to next date if there is no value for it? Now, if there is no value for a date, it will treat it as 0, so the line will go back to 0 in stead of move forward to next date.

Error while calling BI Publisher from Forms 10g using Webservice - Urgent !

I am calling a BI Publisher(10.1.3.4.1) webservice from the Forms 10g (10.1.2.0.2). I developed a jar file which works fine when I run from the Jdeveloper. I have successfully attached jar file to the Forms 10g but when I am calling from the when-button-pressed trigger I am getting beow error
Exception: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.j2ee.ws.saaj.client.p2p.HttpSOAPConnection.setPreemptiveBasicAuth(Z)V

What steps did you follow to successfully attached jar file to the Forms 10g? To me, it sounds like you don't have your .jar file configured with Forms Builder and/or your App Server. Your .jar file needs to be added to the FORMS_CLASS_PATH in the default.env and the FORMS_CLASS_PATH registry entry. You will likely need to modify the formsweb.cfg also to include your .jar in the archive= or archive_jini= variables (depending on your JRE [Jinitiator or Sun JRE respectively]).
It could also be a dependency on an additional Java library. Is "setPreemptiveBasicAuth" a method that you created or it is a dependent method from an additional library?
Let us know this; as well as which Java version you're using.

Urgent Help--Mass Migration of Reports to 10g

Hi All,
We have about 350 reports that we want to migrate to 10g. Is there a way to migrate them all using a batch program or some tool instead of opening them one by one in the reports developer?

Okay, I see. The supported migration path from Reports 2.5 to 9i, is to first migrate to 6i & then to 9i/10g.
Please check this Metalink Note 90026.1 "Migrating Reports V2.5 --> V3.0 --> V6.0"
You might also be able to use rwconverter (in 6i I think the binary is called rwconv60) instead if Reports Builder:
rwconverter userid=scott/tiger@oracle batch=yes
source=<reportname> stype=rdffile DTYPE=REPFILE OVERWRITE=yes logfile=log.txt overwrite=yes
You can write a batch-file to convert all of your 350 Reports.

How to Recover RPD in 10g Urgent

I was using my OBIEE 10g RPD and i created some columns and i click on Check Global consistence it work does not have any errors. Then when i click on Save button the RPD is not responding. I dont have any backup of the Code and today is the release. I am not sure how to recover it. Please help me its urgent.

RECOVERING FROM A LOST DATAFILE IN A UNDO TABLESPACE [ID 1013221.6]
If you is Unable to Drop Undo tablespace Since Undo Segment is in Needs Recovery
You can Upload the following trace file while opening the ticket
SQL>Alter session set tracefile_identifier='corrupt';
SQL>Alter system dump undo header "<new of undo segment in recover status>";
Go to udump
ls -lrt *corrupt*
Upload this trace file

Urgent:How to get the Sqltext for Oracle Sumbitted Jobs in 10g

Could you help me out in sorting the below problem.
I use to get the current running sql's with following below query in 9i.
SELECT A.SID,B.HASH_VALUE, OSUSER, USERNAME, SQL_TEXT
FROM V$SESSION A, V$SQLTEXT B
WHERE B.HASH_VALUE = A.SQL_HASH_VALUE
AND USERNAME LIKE upper('%SCHEMA%')
ORDER BY B.HASH_VALUE, B.PIECE;
This is will work in 10g also for user-triggered sqls,stored procedures etc.
But when oracle submits job i'm not able find which qurery is running.
Seems For oracle jobs in 10g for V$session contain column SQL_HASH_VALUE as Zero and hence i'm not able find the any sql's running.
Could you please any of you help me out how to get the Sqltext for Orcle submited Jobs in 10g.
Please revert asap as this is very urgent for me.

URGENT : Challenge questions query: Oracle Access Manager 10g

Hi all,
This is a query regarding password challenge questions in Oracle Access Manager 10g. We have created password policies for a specific container in OID (say cn=xxx,cn=users,dc=oracle,dc=com) and it is working fine.
In order to exclude certain set of users (say user ABC ) for password policies, we have set the obpasswordchangeflag to false for those users which are in same container for which password policy is created.
When we try to login to the application with the user say ABC, I am not seeing any reset password page - I am happy till this point. However it is showing Configure Challenge questions page. Is there any way to bypass this page? Or is this the expected behavior?

This is expected behaviour. In order to exclude the password policy management for some certains user for particular domain/container. please add the below configuration parameter to your OAM10g password policy.

Oracle 10g Developer Suite Installation (very very urgent ...!!)

Dear all,
I have downloaded Oralce 10g Developer suite from Oracle Website and copied on my Hard Drive on I: drive as Disk1 folder and Disk2 folder.
my setup.exe is on Disk1 when i run the setup.exe it gives me error
"Fatal Exception Error, Program will exit" its and JVM error,
i have installed JRE 1.4.2 in my computer but still i am unable to install the Develoer Suite.
pl.give me the solution as soon as possible.

To give you a solution, you need to provide information to enable problem clarification and analysis.
I'll give you a hint. Did you verify the file sizes on the download page? Do you know the downloaded files are ok? Which version are you trying to install? DS 10.1.2.0.2 for Windows pages tells you the file sizes in bytes for "disk1" and "disk2" files. Did you read the install instructions beforehand?
