URGENT !!! ANY GOOD BOOK FOR JMF - RTP programming ????

Can you propose some books about JMF and RTP/RTCP programming ??
Thanks in advance !!!

The only JMF books available are "Essential JMF - Java Media Framework" by Rob Gordon (ISBN 0130801046), "Core Java Media Framework" by Linden deCarmo (ISBN 0130115193) and "Programming with the Java Media Framework" by Sean C. Sullivan, et. al. (ISBN 0471251690). All of them are very out-of-date and only cover JMF 1.x (i.e. no audio / video capture and no RTP). All of them were not very good to begin with but "Essential JMF" is probably the better of the three.

  • Good books for JMF 2.1.1?

    Hi all,
I am new to JMF and I am trying to learn the concepts. Can anyone suggest me any good books explaning the JMF concepts? I tried searching the web but could only find books based on JMF1.0, which I am made to understand is not preffered.
    Somebody please help me.
    Thanks,
    Binil

There is a book that covers JMF 2.0 titiled
Java How To program 4th Edition
    by Deitel & Deitel
    Published by Prentice Hall
    ISBN 0-13-034151-7
I haven't read it, but I'm guessing its good from the Amazon.com user reviews. Note that this book covers many java topics which include JMF 2.0, so I'm note sure how much of JMF it covers.
If you want my advice, try reading the programmer's guide and the sample programs on JMF solutions page on the JMF API webpage. These 2 resources are the best tools for learning JMF.
    Best of luck :)

  • Any good books for learning flash?

I'm trying to learn how to use flash, and there's only so much I can learn on my own. I looked up some books on various websites, but I don't know which would be the "best" to use for someone completely new to the program.

I would recommend anything by David Stiller. He posts a lot on these forums and has a great way of explain the why and how of doing stuff in Flash.
It also depends upon if you are planning on learning code or timeline animation (or both). Chris Georgenes (who also often posts here) is a genius animator and has some good books too.
For animation through code I recommend Keith Peter's "Making Things Move."
There are also great on-line tutorials like at gotoAndLearn.com by the amazing Lee Brimlow.
    That should get you started...

  • Any good IDE for J2ME/MIDI programming ?

    Hi
I am new to the J2ME world. I have to develope a GUI based application on iPAQ4350. But I am not given any ramp up time with awt programming. So I am wondering whether there is any good IDE ( like VB Editor ) with all standard widget ( like button, textfield etc) which I choose and create my GUI.
    Someone please post.

You can try Sun One Studio Mobile Edition, but even this does not provide you with visual development of GUI like buttons, drag and drop.....This is J2me World honey, learn to be small....

  • Anyone recommends a good book for object oriented programming

I am a college student in computer engineering (Software) and have been programming using Java for over a year. I have become really interested in the design of softwares and the "beauty" of object oriented programming, and thus would like to advance my knowledge about the topic (my university offers an advanced oop class but I would have to wait another 6 months to take it). So my question is, could you recommend me any book that covers the subject of object oriented programming extensively? (I have learned most of the oop I know from "An Introduction to Programming and Object Oriented Design Using Java" by Nino and Hosch.
    Thanks in advance

Some years ago I remember cutting my teeth on OOP using an excellent book by Grady Booch. If it's still in print and has been updated, it may be worth a look. Again it was decent. Also consider picking up a book on design patterns. Good luck.
Edit: I found it, it's called "Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with Applications", and it's in its third edition. You can find it here on Amazon.

  • Any good books on Object Oriented Programming?

I switched to ABAP Objects about a year ago and I must say after reading more about the concept I started to like it as it gives me more tools that procedural programming couldn´t easily accomplish.
I'm planning on getting a book in order to incrase my knowledge about the OO concept, as I'm still not using all the potential.
I'm looking more for general guidelines to OOP, not necesarily an Abap Objects book

I don't think there are missing points in the docs. Difficult to find info, that's right. Some errors, that's right. Maybe some explanations are difficult to understand. But everything you need to manage database, write sql scripts etc., are there.>
100% agreed, what one needs to do daily, its all there in the docs and probably much better explained as compared to "certain" market books.
The missing point(s) thing that I mentioned doesn't include the daily tasks. Probably those details are of no use whatsoever in person's every day work. That's why I hinted that any product company certainly won't put its 'internals' in public docs. I am talking about certain things which interest me , some inner workings of architecture and so on, surely they neither are covered in Oracle docs nor will be. If one has to work, prepare for exams, there is no need to look upon at them too. In this context,I completely agree with you. At times, with curiosty, one tends to go a bit deep, there things don't work so nice, atleast for me, from only oracle docs.
Please don't take it as an argument. I understood your reply and its certainly true. Probably, I couldn't convey my viewpoint clearly in my last reply.

  • Any Good Books on JMF???

I am new to JMF & I have to display & control video in an applet.. Can anyone tell me which book should be the best to refer.
This will be of great help to me.. as its very urgent...

All the existing JMF books cover version 1.0, which is long since out-of-date (2.0 introduced streaming, plug-ins, access to low-level pixel data, etc.).
    Try the docs at http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/documentation.html

  • Suggest good book for J2EE Design Pattern.

Is there any good book for J2EE Design pattern? I know Head First Design Pattern book, but is focuses oncore java. I want to learn in detail with examples J2EE design pattern.
    Please suggest good books.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rahul.

most j2ee patterns are discredited now. they were mostly workarounds for deficiencies in ejb 1 & 2 specs.
"core j2ee patterns" is your best bet, but take it with a grain of salt.
    better to learn spring, IMO:

    Hi Vinod,
    1) For image part, consider the following links:

How to Add Image to Webdynpro for java application
After pasting the image in mimes folder also refresh you r project node in Navigator tab.
    2) You can use dropdown by index and populate them on some action depending upon your requirement and then code for the same. Extensive coding will be required for the same.
    3) Here is the article on how you can send mails from Webdynpro Java.

  • Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript for flash?

Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript
    for flash?
    Intermediate level
I have been using flash for about 2 years more as a hobby
than anything else, some websites etc but now I realise I am going
to need to learn more actionscripting to do what I want, I have
come to terms with the simple stuff like goto – basic
variables – load mov – enough to programme up website
    navigation.
I ideally want to learn more about the dynamic side of flash,
mostly for designing user interfaces and websites etc
I’m after a book that doesn’t get too heavy too
fast yet I’m a little past the more basic functions
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers
