URGENT: Backup fail when updating OS.

When connecting a friends iphone to my imac to update it's OS it appears to have lost the backup. We are now left with an updated OS but with none of the original data. I have research the net without result. There are a number of third party softwares that state they can recover lost backups. Is this true. Do i need to use such software or is there an easier solution. I have looked into the backup files via the library folder. There does not appear to be a backup file corrosponding to the date we did the upgrade. Please help.

Hi Lawrence, thanks for getting back. We have all photo's only. We have currently lost all SMS text messages and telephone contacts. Whilst I was watching the computer screen I observed it going through the stages of updating, one of which was backup. Which is where I am now confused. Where has this backup gone? I have attempted to restore the phone to its previous state which was unsuccessful. I am only given the options now to backup from other devices that are syn'd.

IPhone/iTunes backup error when updating to iOS 4.2

Just bought an Iphone 4 a few days ago and tried several times to update it to iOS 4.2.... it fails EVERY TIME when the iTunes tries to proceed the phone's backup. An error occur and closes the iTunes without updating the phone.
Such problem didn't happen when updating my iPad... really don't know how to skip this problem and finally update my iPhone properly.
*** Apple!?!?!?
PS. I already downloaded the iTunes again, tried to "restore" my iPhone but the same thing keeps happening...

i have iphone 3gs and this has just happened to me, just in the middle of restoring it now, dread to think whats been lost on it.

We had the data loaded to SAP with ROLE 000000 and TR0100 but somehow when we tried to update the address thru ROLE TR0100, we had a dump and failed to update. However, the update is good when we use ROLE 000000 to update.
Anyone would have a clue of this?

I am new to EDT also. I know Cat 15 which can load BP. SAP has more categories which can load more using KCLJ. Here's my experience.
Under Tcode SIMGH, find IMG structure External Data Transfer for SAP Banking. Under that structure, you can find Display Required and Optional Entry Fields for SEM Banking. When you enter 15 in the Category box, you'll see a whole list of fields about BP. You can use these fields to create your own structure.
After you created your structure, use Define Sender Structure under External Data Transfer for SAP Banking to define your structure. After that, it is done. You can try use KCLJ to load your BP.
If you still have other issues, mostly will be the configuration.

DPM 2012 SP1 long term backup fails when protected server reboots

Hi,
we're using DPM 2012 SP1 with Short-term and long-term protection.
We use a daily short-term backup to disk and a weekly long-term to tape.
We are noticing that when a long-term tape backup is running, it fails when we reboot one of the protected servers.
Is anyone else having this issue ? I assumed the long-term tape backup will be created from a disk-recovery point.

System Image Backup failing when trying to write to a Drobo 5N NAS

I'm trying to make a full system image through file history, and I get part way through the process until I get the following error:
The backup failed.
There was a failure in preparing the backup image of one of the volumes in the backup set. (0x807800C5)
Additional information:
The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. (0x80070021)
I've found one other thread where this was an issue and the user said that he had no issues doing it to a USB drive, so I'm assuming it's related to using a network one. I can run file history/recovery (whatever it's called) to the same network attached
server in the same parent folder so I know it's not a permission issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In order to know whethr this issue is related with the speicfic NAS, I suggest you try to backup the image to another external drive and check if the error persists.
Actually, according to the error message, it seems more related with the files which need to be backed up, it is locked\unaccessable. I recommend you temporarily turn off any anti-virus program protection. Stop other running processes including background
processes, then try to backup again, test the result.

Offline backup failing when scheduled using DB13

Hi,
We have done our backup schedule of our BI 7 system running on AIX 5.3 and Oracle 10.2 using DB13.The activities like online backup and datbase check is executing correctly but offline backup is failing with status unknown.
If i check in sm37 for the DBA job offline backup is showing status completed successfully but in brbackup logs there is no log for the offline backup activity.
Kindly provide your suggestion on how i can resolve this issue.

When I trigger the backup directly from brtools offline backup is happening successfully.The issue is happening only for the db13 scheduled offline backup.The same thing happened for Update statistics but check db is executed.
So what has to be checked in backint settings pls provide you suggestion.

Fail when updating iPhone 4 Model error to contact servers or servers unavailable

So, the thing is, my iphone 4 GSM model is on 5.1.1 version, and i wanted to updated officialy on the itunes, i just plug it with the computer then it reads normally, but when i click to update to latest version he starts to extract the software from apple but then it fails, saying that there was an error contacting and maybe the server can be temporarily unavailable, but this was for the whole day! i tried a thousand times.. hope someone helps me ! DM 6 - Torch 9800 - backup fails when I include 'files saved on my built-in media storage'

When perfoming a device backup through Desktop Manager, if I include 'files saved on my built-in media storage' it fails with the following error: "There was an error backing up. There could have been a problem with the device or connection during the backup. Verify that the device is turned on and connected"
Unchecking this option and its successful.

My guess is that it's related to content protection, but was hoping someone else would have encountered it.
Honestly though, the BES backups have been more than adequte - as long as the user account was deleted at the same time as the device wipe.

What do you have in your LocalGPOPAck? And do you have logs uploaded somewhere? Are you deploying Win 7/8.1?

How long did it take for your iPhone/ iPads to finish the backup proccess??

Its becuase over the years of apple claiming that itunes is the anwser to all music problems they have cramed it full of **** and forgotten the point was in the first place. Lets not forget that itunes is nothing more than a directory program and is still slow becuase apple decided they must have their pointless glossy **** plastered everywhere.
Oh wait its ok they have realised this and now allow you to have iOS 5 so you never need to sync it with shity itunes again, but wait don't we need to update it first using itunes of course we do.
Apple tut tut. Your itunes program is cancer on my PC yerp not mac PC.
P.S. you need to sort out the gesture thing on the macbooks talk about ******* pointless. (you can acces the internet by performing a jutsu in front of it)

HT3275 Why does Time Machine backup fail when an external drive is included in backup?

Time Machine will not perform a backup when I have an external drive (formatted Mac OS Extended - Journaled) included in the backup. My understanding is that it should. What am I doing wrong?

There's a problem with a file on that disk. See #C3 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting. It will show you how to locate the message(s) that describe the problem, then help you fix it.

Ipod failed when updating

Can somebody help me out here?
I was updating my ipod, and all of sudden it started to make a noise.
i think it was the hard drive.
and then when i tried to open the ipod, it won't start.
it only displayed with "go to ipodsupport.com" something like that.
i'm afraid the hard drive was destroyed during the updating process.
is there any way to deal with this problem?
