URGENT: Cannot Find DBCA on Red Hat's Oracle installation

I desperately need to find the DBCA (class / executable) or, better yeat is to introduce you to my need:
We need to run RMAN to BackUp And Restore a DataBase.
The RMAN Works with or is better used through the use of the “Enterprise Manager Console”, which needs to connect to an OMS (Oracle Management Server), the OMS is configured by the EMCA executable, and the EMCA Works find until it needs to use the DBCA, which cannot find, and I cannot find it anyware.
Please help us out, should I try to create the tablespaces my self? (don’t think so, I’m kind of green when it comes to DBA tasks, but I am trying to help out. (through otn)

0) I was surprised to see that you answer me, you have allway gave me EXCELENT answers and very courteously.
1) The URGENT: was intended to express the necesity of the TOPIC not of the actual situation, I am certain that would it come to that (calling oracle support) my superiors would have call.
2) When I wrote "which cannot find, and I cannot find it anyware." It means a Search throughout the Hard Drives of the machine. and could not find it (DBCA.class, DBCA.bin, DBCA.*, etcetara). I might/most likely are mistaken, nevertheless that was the intetion of my topic.
3) I manage through a workarround that is Creating the OMS Repository TABLESPACES myself.
Thanks for your answers, and don't mistake this reply as being rude or anything like it. I have but the most gratitud towards all the help that you have provided me in other ocations.
Thanks again for all,
Frank

Depend on which country you are in btw, for the US this should be 61 black and 61 tricolor. For most of europe this will be 301 black and 301 tri color. So to be sure tell me from which country you are.

    Thank you.

    1. This is a forum. People should reply here.
    2. Don't publish your email address here. You might be spammed.
    3. Please specify your question more. setInt is JDBC - it shouldn't have to do anything with your OS, much more with the DBMS you are accessing.
Probably you made a mistake in your statement creation. Show us that DB relevant code part - maybe we can help then.

Before Oracle 10g, you are pretty much stuck with exp/imp option for Cross-platform migration.
Depends on the size of your database that could be very time consuming and downtime scheduling is big concern. Therefore some people was trying the replication and switch over route. But that's not very easy to setup and you need to have in-depth knowledge of the data and the application driven.
If you can upgrade to 10g, then you have option to use transportable tablespace which now support crossplatform migration. And you need to use RMAN to convert endianess of your datafiles.

    where is your datastore located?
    - Its located on a remote server
Olite? Oracle Express or Oracle DB?
    - Oracle 10g
Please check, if you can login into your datastore as user orabpel.
    - Yes I can log in using orabpel user
Your problem could be due to an error of your DB...
    - Wondering if its a DB error, then I should see an Ora DB error code in log, but nothing is being shown. So not sure if it would be DB related.

  • URGENT - Cannot find my work

Hi, before updating to Mavericks and FCPX 10.1, I had almost done a music video and it was almost finishe.
I updated to Mavericks, and FCPX 10.1 and I updated the files and events when I first opened FCPX. I now see all my source media, but I cannot find all the final product, the edited music video. I really, really really need help guys. I know its somewhere, it cannot be gone, but at the lower half of my screen, all it says is '' Create a new project'' and I cannot find my edited and almost finished project. help. Thanks

How many different drives are involved?  If you had your event files on an external drives, it there is a good chance your Project files (not in Event until 10.1) are on your boot drive, and did not get converted.  More info, please.

I cannot uninstall or install itunes.  error is 'trying to use on a network resource that is unavailable'.  I cannot find  path to any folders containing installation package itunes.msi.  Unable to download itunes since 2 updates ago and crashed computer.    Windows update as suggested in some posts does not assist either.
Can anyone assist me?  Thank you so much

Should the advice above not fix things for you...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Up2date from red Hat to Oracle linux

    Hello,
i am using Red Hat Enterprise linux release 3 update 7 and we bought network support from oracle and the minimum requires:

Oracle's up2date program will allow you to switch to ULN if you are running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 8 or later.
Mine is update 7 so it does not work,
can someone has a work around for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Thanks Ice for the reply.
i do not have support with RedHat anymore and Oracle came back and said update 7 would work also, but istill have problem and working with them now.

  • URGENT - cannot log in to SQL Plus on Oracle 8i

Hi, I have Oracle 8i (8.1.6.0.0) installed on windows 98.
I want to use the SQL Plus module, but I have trouble to login SQL plus, and I an get error message:
    ORA-12560: TNS:Protocol adapter error
I supposed the default username and password as follows:
    SYS/CHANGE_ON_INSTALL
    SYSTEM/MANAGER
    SCOTT/TIGER
Am I using the correct version or edition (which I also don't know which edition)? Does windows 98 supports SQL Plus?
I was told to set up a database by selecting database administration then follow by database configuration assistant (in order to use the SQL Plus, firstly a database have to set up). I'm not sure whether this is true? but inside the database administration I don't have the so call "database configuration assistant". Can someone please help me?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

I hope you can help, I'm in the same boat as the others who cannot log on to the SQL* using Oracle Personal Edition 8
I'm running on 98, and everytime I try entering SYS as username & CHANGE_ON_INSTALL as password, or SYSTEM as username & MANAGER as password; I get:
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: Shared memory realm does not exist
I've been trying for a number of days, and have created databases using the Database config assistant, and everytime, it gives me the details as SYS CHANGE_ON_INSTALL etc, but it still doesn't let me log into SQL*
Any help would be gratefully received,
    Patrick

  • Red Hat 9 - Oracle 9.2 - Not able to connect remote db

I can tnsping remote dbs but I can't use sqlplus. I do not have control of the listener.ora and can't get a hold of it. But I have no problems connecting with windows with same tns names file that I have on linux. Also when I look in sqlnet.log I see where it is builds a tnsnames connection that points to my local machince. So I don't think sqlplus is picking up my tnsnames file even though I have it in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin. But tnsping picks it up. Any help would be appreciated.

Turns out my problem was I had a windows version of the tnsnames.ora file which wasn't being properly read by linux. Once I got a correctly encoded file I was ok.

    Hi, all...
I need know if Oracle Forms  (11.1.2.2.0) is supported on RED HAT 7, in certmatrix, the RED HAT 6  is supported, if I install in RED HAT 7, Oracle supports the product?
    Thank you.

This forum is dedicated to support the Oracle Maven Repository and related Maven functionality and therefore, are unlikely to find answers to your Oracle Forms-related questions here.  However, if the certification matrix does not explicitly list RHEL 7, that means that it has not been certified to run on RHEL 7.

  • Oracle 8.1.6 on Red Hat 7.1

    Hello,
    I have a problem instaling a Oracle 8.1.6 on a old machine
    running RH 7.1.
I read all the comments in this group concernig the question
about the JRE, the need to place assume_kernel=2.2.5 and to run
    the /i386-...env.sh script.
I also have all the compatibility packages installed.
And it does not seem to work!
I still get a linking problem during instalation and even with
those errors the instaler assumes the instalation is sussefull.
Is there someone that can tell me what to do step-by-step to
    install a oracle 8.1.6 (not other 8.1.7!) in a Red Hat 7.1
    installation?
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,
    Pedro

I could not get back to this discussion group before. I apolagize
for that, but as I mentioned in the previous message my problem
    is a linking one:
I have follow the step metioned in several discussions in this
    group, namely:
I have installed the compatibility libraries:
    compat-glibc
    compat-egcs
    compat-libs
    Set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL= 2.2.5
    run the environment script ./usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386
    ...-en.sh
The runinstaller program run ok has metioned previously but it
    gives me errors during linking:
After copying the necessary files and all that initial
instalation work the linking phase runs smootly, it even link
correctly several Oracle tools like Oracle intermedia, Oracle
    net8 client, and so on.
When the Oracle 8i server linking the problems start.
    All errors are like this:
-> Error invoking target install of makefile
And the afected makefiles are numerous:
    /OraHome1/network/lib/ins_net_server.mk
    /OraHome1/network/lib/ins_oemagent.mk
    /OraHome1/ldap/lib/ins_ldap.mk
    /OraHome1/odg/lib/ins_odg.mk
    /OraHome1/ctx/lib/ins_ctx.mk
Yes, the famous ctx is also giving me problems.
Moreover:The mentiones target .c files refered to in the makefile
script are all in their places!
I do not know what is happenig in this instalation.
    Any clue?
    Best regards,
    Pedro
    Note:
I also tried to cover for the ld and gcc linker and compiler to
make sure they are the right version as is mentioned in another
    thread... same thing!

  • ORA-3115 occuring after migration to Oracle 11.1.0.6 on Red Hat

Our application has been running on Tru64 5.1b, Oracle v9 for years quite happily. Since migrating to Red Hat Linux, Oracle 11 we've encountering ORA-3115 errors sporadically from a Pro*C call.
Our C executable maintains a connection to the database. Once the 3115 error occurs it occurs on every query to the database from that executable (other processes continue OK, something with the connection?). Our proram uses Pro*c queries with dynamic binds.
There seems to be no pattern to the frequency with which the error occurs.
The offending bit of code is usually:
    EXEC SQL SELECT
    UPDATE_INHIBITED,
    LAST_UPDATE_TIME,
    TO_CHAR(LAST_LIVE_UPDATE, 'HH24:MI:SS DD-MM-YYYY'),
    LAST_TRANSACTION,
    LAST_TRANSACTION_DG
    INTO
    :sql_update_inhibited,
    :sql_last_update,
    :sql_last_operational_update,
    :sql_last_trans,
    :sql_last_trans_dg
    FROM SET_DETAILS
    WHERE SET_ID = :sql_set_id;
This code has been unchanged for years. The fact that it usually occurs here probably more because this is the first database call completed as part of a scheduled process.
This problem is having an operational impact (as the updates do not occur) and I really need to get a resoltuion before the Christmas break.
As I said we've just migrated to a new server. There may be configuation parameters that are not perfect. Any suggestions on what we could double check?
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas how I can work around this?
    Thanks,
    Beck
