Urgent! Changing hostname for J2EE installation
Hello,
I'm getting confused! I'm trying to change the hostname for a j2ee engine installation (WebAS 6.40)!
WebAS and DB are on the same server. I did everthing from the note 757692!!!
But when I change in the registry the key SAPLOCALHOST to the new servername and then start the j2ee engine the key is changed back to the old hostname!! and the engine is not starting!
I'm using windows 2003 with WebAS 6.40 SP14 and MS Sql as database.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards
Olaf
Has this question ever been answered? I tried everything in the note as well, still can't get it to work.
As a workaround i'm now installing the J2EE Engine on another server, then gonna do a java system copy via export/import. but i'd like to get the note to work as well.

Change hostname for Grid Control
Hi All,
I have installed OEM grid control 10gr2(10.2.0) on solaris. The installation was successfull.
the grid control login page appeared to be as
http://localhost:4889/em
I do not understand why grid control installation has picked up the localhost and local ip address 127.0.0.1 instead of using the server hostname and server ipaddress
Lets say i have following entries in /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.4.51 abc.xyz.com abc
how to change the GRID url to http://abc.xyz.com:4889/em?
thanks all in advance. Thanks for the reply
The files are there,

Changing hostname for E-Business Suite
Hi,
Im just moving an instance from one server to another server,
I did the following steps,
1. De-register the current database server.
perl $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin/adgentns.pl appspass=apps contextfile=$CONTEXT_FILE -removeserver
2. $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/ydev_<oldhost>.xml
Replaced all <oldhost> to <newhost>
Replaced all <olddomain.com> to <newdomain.com>
3. cd $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin/./adconfig.sh contextfile=$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/PROD_<newhost>.xml
While doing this adconfig it completed with errors...
my log file contents are as follows,
[AutoConfig Error Report]
The following report lists errors AutoConfig encountered during each
phase of its execution. Errors are grouped by directory and phase.
The report format is:
<filename> <phase> <return code where appropriate>
[PROFILE PHASE]
AutoConfig could not successfully execute the following scripts:
Directory: /ydev/u02/oracle/ydevdb/9.2.0/appsutil/install/ydev_ebs
afdbprf.sh INSTE8_PRF 1
[APPLY PHASE]
AutoConfig could not successfully execute the following scripts:
Directory: /ydev/u02/oracle/ydevdb/9.2.0/appsutil/install/ydev_ebs
adcrobj.sh INSTE8_APPLY 1
how to resolve this...??.
im using ebs version 11.5.10.2
database 9i
OS linux redhat 4.0
thanks,
vasanthHi
I agree with Helios.
In fact, the first time I moved my apps to a new server I asked Oracle support for advice and they said that cloning is the ONLY officially approved option for moving to another server.
After the database clone you will need to fix the following entries in the web server XML file;
s_dbhost --> new_server
s_apps_jdbc_connect_descriptor --> new_server
If you end up with any unwanted database server information in the autoconfig repository then you can just do the following;
1) EXEC FND_CONC_CLONE.SETUP_CLEAN;
2) rerun autoconfig

URGENT - Change color for a set of rows in JTable
Hello all,
How can i set color for a particular set of row which are all having same values in a cell. If any other rows contains same value that should also be in different color.
Example:
I have 10 rows containing itemcode and taxes in JTable.
1st, 2nd and 4 th row contains same value of Taxes -- It should be in a set of color. red
6th and 8th row containing same value of Taxes -- it should be in a set of color blue
other are in normal color. Kindly send the coding for the above. Advance thanks.
Regards,
N.A. Ramasubramani / Chennai.Hi,
Here is how I do it... create a Vector of Vector or an array[row][col] containing colors for every cell (row, col). Create a custom Cell renderer in which you pass the color data variable. Then in the renderer you get the Row and Col and set the appropriated color for the background.

Changing hostname for embeded OC4j
I have a web-application that computes a hash number based on the server name in which the app is running. Needless to say, running OC4J from JDeveloper in debug mode creates a url like: http://<host_ip>:<port>/app/index.jsp.
I need to make it launch with the host name of my machine instead of the ip address in order to debug properly.
Can I do this? If so, where/which configuration file should I modify and how.
Thank you in advance for any help/hint provided. The <port> and the context root may be specified in the
%JDeveloper 10g%\jdev\system10.1.2.0.0.1811\oc4j-config\default-web-site.xml configuration file.
The default port is specified in the element
<web-site port="8988">The context root is specified in the root attribute of the web-app element.
<web-app application="current-workspace-app" name="" root="" load-on-startup="false"/> -
Change hostname for wifi connection
Ave forum!
I need your help to find out how to change device name, so when I look at my WiFi DHCP Server I could recognize my device. I still can do this by MAC, but would like to know how to change system name in Windows Phone.
I am using LUMIA 800
ThanksHi,
Welcome to the forum!
Connect your Lumia Phone via USB to your computer running the Zune PC software. Once the phone shows as connected in the Zune, do the following:
Click on the Phone status icon.
Select View Sync Options > Name Your Phone.
Enter the required phone name.
Click OK, and close Zune.
Disconnect your phone from the PC.
Hope this helps. -
How to change hostname on NetWeaver 2004s NW (Win2k3 + MSSQL)
Hi,
I'm a Virtualization expert @SAP IT. I was aked to provide a solution for hostname change process for cloned virtual machines. Here, i'm posting my solution but use it on your own risk and sideeffects can appear too (applicable to NW 2004s - don't know about side effects till now).
1. Change your hostname to a new one (newsid for clonned) and stop SAP services with prefix SAPXYZ_AB
2. open the c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file and add your previous hostname at the end of 127.0.0.1 line:
127.0.0.1 localhost youroldhostname
3. Use sql enterprise manager (or other SQL tool) in order to connect NW's database.
4. NW's database is a database with a SAP systemID - XYZ and locate J2EE_CONFIGENTRY table
5. Open a query window and check the following SQL Query for previous appearances of your hostname
SELECT *
FROM J2EE_CONFIGENTRY
WHERE (UPPER(VSTR) = 'YOUROLDHOSTNAME-WITH-CAPITAL-LETTERS')
6. If this query returns results - run the following SQL update command
UPDATE J2EE_CONFIGENTRY
SET VSTR = 'NEWHOSTNAME'
WHERE (UPPER(VSTR) = 'YOUROLDHOSTNAME-WITH-CAPITAL-LETTERS')
7. if step 5 failed try to run query w/oout where statement

Just as addition:
"Officially" it's not supported to rename instances, this is especially true for Java instances:
Note 757692 - Changing the hostname for J2EE Engine 6.40/7.0 installation
<...>
This note should be applied only when the hostname of a machine where the j2ee engine was already installed has changed. It does not replace the SAP official system copy procedure and MUST NOT be used for copying of an instance to another host and/or with different SID.

Hi All,
I have made an image of an SAP 2004S on MAXDB server and I have deployed this on an other physical server. Sap is running fine now (on a temp license) but I want to change the hostname of this server.
I have followed the instructions in note 757692 (Changing the hostname for J2EE Engine 6.40/ 7.0 installation) but SAP does not start anymore. When starting up in SAP MMC the disp + work.EXE first turn in to yellow, but after some time the status changes to stopped. The errorlog shows "connect to database failed. rc is -10709 Connection failed. RTE: unknown hostname. I have also seen that the workprocesses do start but the stop after some seconds.

Install without "SAP_USE_HOSTNAME", change hostname afterwards
Hi experts
I installed a distributed NetWeaver 7.02 dual stack system on virtual hosts, but I made the installation of the Central Instance without the parameter "SAP_USE_HOSTNAME".
Now I'd like to change the old hostname on all occurences.
I already figured out the hostname in RZ10-Profiles, in ConfigTool (Secure Store) and in VisualAdmin (SLD Supplier, Destinations for FP_ICF).
Can someone pleae help me with additional usages of the hostname used during install and/or a way to substitute them?!
Regards
MichaelHi,
you can review the following notes:
Note 757692 - Changing the hostname for J2EE Engine 6.40/7.0 installation
Note 8307 - Changing host name on R/3 host: What do you do?
Note 1275273 - Hostname change on 7.10/7.11 java stacks
but note the operation is not supported by SAP.
For change it, you can reinstall or do a system copy with SAP tools ( export / import ). -
Unable to deploy from Netweaver studio after changing hostname
Hi All,
After following the SAP note 757692 to change the hostname for J2EE Engine 6.40, we are getting error message " Error: There is no control instance running in the cluster" in the SDM log when trying to deploy an app from netweaver studio. We have change the setting in netweaver studior to point to the new server etc ...
1. We noticed that in the SDM log, it seem to still looking at the old hostname (clttst1) instead of the new host name (apple)
2. We have to change the hostname because of the cluster environment.
3. I checked the trace file dev_ms and found the following messge " MsHttpInit: full qualified hostname = clttst1.rta.nsw.gov.au" , i.e. still pointing back to the old hostname.
I have made all the neccessary changes base on the SAP note 757692, i.e. message server name etc ...
Any advices / help are greatly appreciated.Hi ,
Thanks for your help, I can connect to SDMserver using RemoteGui fine, the default hostname in the login screen is my "new" hostname.
But when the developer try to deploy the apps from Netweaver studio, getting error and the SDM log indicating that it is still using the old hostname.
Old hostname clttst1, new hostname apple
The error message in the SDM log as follow :
Oct 20, 2005 2:42:07 PM Info: ***** Begin of SAP J2EE Engine Deployment (J2EE Application) *****
Oct 20, 2005 2:42:08 PM Info: Starting cluster instance processes.

Urgent - How to change UME datasource during Installation
Hey Guys,
I am installing a SAP ERP 2005 SR2 system on Windows- Oracle. My question is I want to change UME datasource to dataSourceConfiguration_r3.xml
But when I run SAPinst, during all input phase it never ask me for choosing UME datasource.
Can somebody guide me how to do it! its a Urgent one!
Thanks in advance!Hi,
You can change using the config tool.
But why do you want to change ? If your installation is an add-in then it would be the same it would refer to the abap-system if it is an addin.
Any ways you can change it ,but y default it will select the
datasourceconfigration_r3_rw.xml.
in config tool open it in configuration editor mode and then navigate to cluster>data>server>cfg>services and borwse for data source config

Is it possible to have 2 hostnames for the same ip in 9iASr2 installation??
Hi,
I am going to install 9iAS (9.0.2.0.1) on solaris 5.8, the hostname in nodename and hosts files all point to a name which I don't like to use, is it possible to add another entry in these files for the 9iAS?
The reason behind this is that the 9iAS installation Guide said I can't change hostname after install, but I like to have a meaningful name for the 9iAS when access OEM and HTTP home pages like:
http://goodName:7777
Do you know any other workaround?
ThanksIt is not possible to create two tables with same name in same schema.
A user can own one schema with his own name and another with the schema name SYS.
For this you have to grant sysdba privilage to the user and then have to connect using sys password or with the password specified in password file.
But this still you have to access to the table in sys schema using sys.table_name.
Hope Answered tthe Question. -
For one Urgent Change while performing the one of the Approval before changing the status to 'To Be Tested'
We are getting below error.
The system does not recognize any changes using the CTS WBS BOM in the development system. The transaction is therefore incorrect or the status was reset by the system.
COuld anyone please help us to know, How it can be resolved?
We also have this below error.
System Response
If the PPF action is a condition check, the condition is initially considered as not met, and leads to another warning, an error message, or status reset, depending on the configuration.
If the PPF action is the execution of a task in the task list, and the exception is critical, there is another error message in the document.
Procedure
The condition cannot be met until the cause is removed. Analyze all messages in the transaction application log.
Procedure for System Administration
Analyze any other messages in the task list application log, and the entries for the object /TMWFLOW/CMSCV
Additional Information:
System cancel RFC destination SM_UK4CLNT005_TRUSTED, Call TR_READ_COMM:
No authorization to log on as a trusted system (Tr usted RC=0).
/TMWFLOW/TU_GET_REQUEST_REMOTE:E:/TMWFLOW/TRACK_N:107
For above error Table /TMWFLOW/REP_DATA_FLOWwas refreshed as well but still the same error. If you are in Test System, you can use function module AA_AFABER_DELETE to totally delete the depreciation area (tcode SE37, specify chart of depreciation and depreciation area), After that recreate your depreciation area and run AFBN. But before you do that, have you created a retirement transaction type that limits the posting on your new depreciation area? If not create one.
Hope this helps.
Thanks!

What needs to be changed if we change hostname in linux
Dear all,
I have a question and will appreciate for appropriate answer(s).
My machine name was lxcms120.cern.ch and Oracle 10g DB was running fine on it (listener, DB, Enterprise Manager). It is not a production system rather a test system.
Now, i changed its name to docms11.cern.ch
I change hostname in listener.ora & tnsnames.ora and listener started successfully.
I started db from sqlplus and it started without any complaints.
Now, when i tried to start Enterprise Manager (emctl start dbconsole), it didn't and return this error.
OC4J Configuration issue. /localscratch/orahome/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_docms11.cern.ch_oralxcms120 not found.
Now, i know that when the machine name was initially lxcms120, it was /localscratch/orahome/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_lxcms120.cern.ch_oralxcms120
and if i go to that directory, i could see OC4J_DBConsole_lxcms120.cern.ch_oralxcms120 but of course there is no OC4J_DBConsole_docms11.cern.ch_oralxcms120
My dbname instance is oralxcms120 and has nothing to do with hostname.
So, what is the solution to the problem. Moreover, are there any steps to do while changing hostname of the oracle database like in my case which i can follow to make all required changes.
Best regards,
AnjumYou will need to do a little more than just directory rename,
From Oracle document,When the database host name (including the domain name) or the IP address changes, deconfigure and then reconfigure the Database Console with the repository create command. Run the following command:
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
or
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
