URGENT! Charging US Nano in UK?

Hi,
I am going to the UK tomorrow and just realized that I will need to charge my Nano while I'm over there (or have a very quiet flight back!). I already have an adapter for the outlet but was wondering if that is enough? I know that I have used my laptop in the UK before by simply using the outlet adapter (the laptop auto-converts that power level maybe?) and was wondering if this is the case with the Nano as well? Any sort of insight would be great!!! Thanks!
-Darryl

You just need a plug adaptor for our wall outlets. If you have that, and the wall charger for the iPod, you're all set.
Have a nice visit! : )

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode (I think that is what you were try to do) and then try to restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

    No.

  • Charging iPod Nano in the car

From other posts in this area it seems that the iPod Nano is able to be charged via an Apple Firewire/iPod cable but it will not sync (transfer tunes) via the Firewire cable.
This seems OK provided that I can continue to use my Griffin car charger to charge the Nano (I connect my current iPod headphone socket to an iFire amplifier and then directly to the car speakers
    (see http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/aoaug/macosx.html#hifi )
Also I should be able to use my old iPod AC adapter with the firewire cable to the iPod dock connector. My main requirement is to be able to charge the iPod Nano will travelling when I dont have access to a computer with USB.
This all depends on being able to use the connector cable from the previous model iPod (20Gb) with teh Nano.

Yes your old iPod chargers will work as long as you can use a cable that connects to the bottom of the iPod (dock connector)
Also any charging accessory should work again as long as it can be connected as the iPods all required the same charge voltage, etc.

  • Charging iPod nano 6th gen

I have no problem charging the battery thrugh the USB 2.0 port on the computer, but using the firewire power adaptor from my old iPod doesn't seem to work. I also tried using the docking station without luck.
Do I need a completely different power adaptor to charge my nano? Or am I doing something wrong?

The problem may have something to do with both the cable and the voltage. Older Nanos run on 12V DC, and newer Nanos on 5V DC. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem (pushing 12V into the device would charge it faster, although it would shorten battery life over the long haul) except that Apple, supposedly also changed the pins designated for charging. Not sure of the exact pin number, but I think #19 is now the 5V charge pin for new Nanos, while in older Nanos it was (I think) #23 or something like that for the 12V charge pin. All in all, the advice below was correct, you can't use an older Firewire iPod cable on newer iPods. The only reason I know about this whole voltage and pin problem is because the new Nanos won't charge while connected to the iPod cable in a new Mercedes Benz - they play fine, but won't charge. Mercedes uses a cable with the old pin set up, and my Nano 6th gen won't charge.

  • HT1384 I have an iphone 4s just got the nano for xmas can i use my iphone charger to charge my nano

I have an iphone 4s just got the nano 6th generation for xmas can i use my iphone charger to charge the nano?

Yes, you can. The iPhone 4S and 6th generation iPod nano use the same 30-pin charger, unlike the new Lightning charger used by the iPhone 5 and 7th generation iPod nano.

  • Can I use my firewire AC plug to charge new Nano?

I am sure that I can't sync music with the firewire cable. I have 2 firewire AC plugs that I would like to use to charge my new Nano so I don't have to leave a computer awake just to charge. Safe to do?
    Thanks

Yes, you can use your FireWire AC plug to charge the Nano. I have personally tried. Provided the other end of the cable is Ipod Native, which I assume it is.

  • Do you need a converter to charge Ipod nano (5th gen) using a non-Apple wall charger/plug adapter in Switzerland?

do you need a converter to charge Ipod Nano (5th gen) using a non-Apple wall charger/adapter plug in Switzerland? or is the Ipod Nano dual-voltage?

None of the iDevices are multi-voltage themselves...the chargers from Apple are all 110-240 volt.  You will have to look at the non-Apple charger you have and see if it says it handles 110-240 volts.  Most made today are capable of that range, or they would have to make a different item for each country.
All you probably need is a plug-pin converter, can find those in the airport, at least in Zurich, don't know about Geneva.

  • Can I use my Samsung Wall USB charger to charge iPod Nano (6th gen)? (output is 5.0V, 0.7A)

Can I use my Samsung Wall USB charger to charge iPod Nano (6th gen)? (output is 5.0V, 0.7A)

My biggest concern is that it will fry the circuitry. I don't know what the Amp output is on the Mac-branded wall charger, but I think that USB 2.0 usually only goes up to 0.5A.

Quick answer is: You can if it works, but it is not recommended.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 3G Dock charge iPod Nano?

Has anyone tried of does anyone know -- will the iPhone 3G dock also charge the latest generation of the Nano? My original iPhone's dock would charge the Nano & I'm hoping the Nano will fit into the new dock.

    Welcome to the Forums!
Yes, it will fit. The iPhone 3G is actually a little wider than the original iPhone, so if the nano fits in your original dock, it will definitely fit into the new, slightly larger opening of the 3G dock.
    Hope this helps...

  • HT4354 Is there another way to charge iPod nano besides connecting it to computer?

Is there another way to charge iPod nano besides connecting it to computer?

There's various kinds of power adaptors available: for mains power from Apple and third parties, and for charging in a car from third parties. Plenty of options available to allow for shopping around.

  • Which mains charger for Nano

The Apple store suggests the I would need a USB power adapter to charge a Nano from the mains.
I have a Firewire mains power adapter as supplied with my U2 iPod. Would this work as the firewire version in the store does not mention the Nano at all.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Yes, it should charge the iPod Nano with a Firewire iPod cable.

  • Am I Charging my nano correctly?

Am I charging my nano correctly? I charge it when I go to bed every nite. Do I charge it everynite or only when it needs it? And what do I set my EQ's on to make my battery life last 14 hours? I want to get the most out of my battery life. Is it good to use it everyday?

well i dont charge my ipod every nite, only when it needs it, but that depends on how much you use it. i dont know how to make it last 14 hours though. but i dont usually charge mine every nite. i dont see how it could hurt it tho.
