URGENT : Deploying a PAR file
Dear Portal gurus,
I have a PAR file which I need to deploy into EP.
EP 6.0, SP9.
I have tried Sys Admin --> Support --> Portal Runtime ---> Admin Console ---> Archive Uploader.
It gives me the message successfullly uploaded...
But when I try to create an iview from PAR I do not see the uploaded(deployed) PAR file.
However I have done something like this in the past and was always able to see it while creating Iviews from PAR.
Option 2: Deploy thru EP server ---> services ---> Deploy ---> Single file Update (choose Applications) .
This case where should it be deployed ?
is it under : sap.com/irj ---> servlet-jsp ---> irl-web
I do not want to use SDM.
Appreciate your inputs.
Thanks.
Josh
Hi Josh,
May be its the reason that the application has been restricted in it's permissions(see this <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f6/2604e505fd11d7b84200047582c9f7/frameset.htm">link</a>)- "Administrator Permissions For portal components".
You must have at least the read permission for the application- that means under System Administration - Permissions - Portal Permissions - Applications - <YourApp>.
Check permissions level in this location System Administration - Permissions - Portal Permissions - Applications
If you don't have enough permisssions then you cannot see your par file.
Regards,
Pooja.

Error while deploying a PAR file from NWDS into an ECC.
Hi all,
I am getting this error while deploying a PAR file from NWDS into an ECC.
Operation Failed: Please make sure the server is running or check the log (sap-plugin.log) for
more detail.
My server is running properly
1 - Where is sap-plugin.log file? I don´t find it.
2 - Could there be another file with another name with information about the error?
3 - Is there another way to deploy the file directly from the ECC?
Regards,Hi,
Just make sure you have maintained correct server setting to check the same open the NWDS and follow this path
Windows/ Prefereces / SAP Enterprise Portal
Check the following enteries

Error while deploying the par file
while deploying an application in NWDS we are getting the error as"operation failed, please make sure that the server is running or check the log."
we have ensured that the server is running, but the deployment is getting failed.
Please suggest tips to deploy the PAR file successfully.
Thanks.Hi,
We are using NWDS to create a small application to develop ( for ex jspdynpage)
.while deploying the par file or exporting it to the server,we are getting the error as "please make sure that the server running.HTTPS protocol is not supported, please ensure that this server is not using HTTPS.
the server is running and is shown in green.
we have also disabled the proxy settings.
we have also tried by specifiing the IP of the server in the proxy settings.
the above steps didnt work.please suggest the things to do to make this working.
thanks,

Unable to deploy the PAR file after the first successfully deploy.
Hi, my gurus.
I found a problem when I developed the JspDynPage.
That is after first deploy the PAR file successfully,I found there is a miss in portalapp.xml, so I correct the miss and then do a second delpoy. But it didn't work.
I goto the Server's file system to find the portalapp.xml,
the content of xml was still the old one.
Anyone can help me, I don't want restart the J2EE Engine,
because the restart will last for 15mintues.
Thanks.Hi,
I dont think there is no need to restart your J2EE Engine.
Becuase i dont think you have a requirement to create an iview from that PAR File
If it is so delete the previous iview and create a new iview.
From the updated PAR File in ur System
Every Time when you uplaod the PAR the old instance will be lost.and new changes will come into effect on each upload done by you.
There is no question of restarting ur J2EE Engine.
Whenever there is a change in you PAR.
Hope this Helps you.
Thanks & Regards,
Lokesh.

Chaging WebService URL after deploying iView(PAR file)
Hi,
I am creating an iView using .Net PDK and will be accessing methods of a WebService using a proxy class.
I don't want to hardcode URL of the WebService in my proxy class.
Is there any solution by which I can read URL from some config file, so that if I want to change URL of web service, I just have to change the content of the config file instead of recompiling proxy class and deploying new PAR file.
Regards,
AjayHi ajay,
You can define it as a property of the iView.
For details see:
.NET iView
and:
https://media.sdn.sap.com/html/submitted_docs/PDK_for_dotNET_10/Tutorials/Personalization.htm
Hope that helps,

Programmatic deployment of PAR files
Hi all,
I am trying to deploy PAR file with the java deployment API (com.sap.engine.deploy.manager.DeployManager) but i think that's only for EAR files.
Does any java API exist for deploying PAR files to the Portal ?
Regards,
CharlesHello Detlev,
Thanks for the hint taking a look into the log file. It lead me in fact into the right direction. I had network problems during the deployment so the system somehow fell into an inconsistent state. I reinstalled my PDE and then the deployment was successful.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Just one more question: I produced an sca file called comsiemens00_0.scawith the SAP make utilites. How can I manipulate the zero numbers?
Thanks,

Empty JAR File : After deployment of PAR file.
Hi friends,
I Migrated the EP Database to different machine and made neccessary changes in the portal to make it point to the new database.
Then i tried to change the custom deployed applications to make it point to new database. so Got the somecomp.par.bak from /<Portal_installation_path>/cluster/server/services/
servlet_jsp/work/jspTemp/irj/root/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd. Imported it into Eclipse, changed connection properties code, built it and coverted to par file. Deployed that file into portal using java developement tab. Even after uploading a new par, application is still pointing to old database.
While deploying, it wrote some log into error_log file as follows:
Jan 13, 2006 9:43:38 AM ...rtal.prt.service.config.ConfigDeploymentService [Client_Thread_14] Warning": An upload sequence w
ill start now. Please do not stop the server or serious deployment issues may arise.
Jan 13, 2006 9:43:39 AM ...rtal.prt.service.config.ConfigDeploymentService [Client_Thread_14] Warning": The upload sequence
is now complete, all the upgrades have been performed.
warning: Jar is empty: /usr/sap/AAA/j2ee/j2ee_00/cluster/server/services/servlet_jsp/work/jspTemp/irj/root/WEB-INF/portal/po
rtalapps/SOMECOMP/private/lib/SOMECOMPcore.jar
What may be the cause of this error?
Portal Version:
EP6 SP2 Patch 29
SAPJ2EE 6.20 Patch 29

Don't!
In NWDS, if you import a PAR, no JARs which are inside the PAR get imported. That's all (it's enough ).
> The one using which i compiled my code
> like htmlb.jar etc
NO! These are (hopefully) not inside your own PAR but only referenced!!!
> When i imported a PAR file, the source code was there.
Then even with NWDS you shouldn't have any problems as the classes / JARs are compiled/created at PAR creation.
> i am using Eclipse with SP2 plugins
Alltogether in your situation you are not confronted with an error but with a warnung. Obviously you don't have any code in the src.core section.
Hope it helps

Hello experts...
Can any body have the step by step process for how to deply the par files?
please let me know if you have any weblogs?
Thanks
padmaHi,
If you have sys admin privileges go to
Sys Admin --> Support --> Portal Runtime --> Administration Console and choose ARchive deployer
If you have java developer role assigned then you can do it from Java Development tab.
From web dynpro
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/68/f64942da51690de10000000a155106/frameset.htm
Hope this helps,

Error deploying PAR file from Developer Studio (NW04)
Hello,
i've got a problem while trying to deploy a PAR file from NW Developer Studio.
The PAR Export function says
"Unable to connect to the Portal",
the portal itself gives the following response:
"ERROR: Upload failed - exception caught: com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntimeException: Invalid content type submitted - no multipart data"
Deploying the PAR file manually using the Administration Console (system administration tab) of the portal works fine, but why doesn't the PAR Export function of NWDS?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Regards,
JörgHi Jörg,
as a general advise, use the NWDS version corresponding to the Servers version, so in this case, upgrade (or better: install new) NWDS 2.0.14. The main reason is WebDynpro compatibility, but the deploy mechanism may need this too.
At least, give it a try and report if you have success (or not).
Hope it helps

Deploy par files with code from NWDI
Hello Experts,
I have migrated some par files to NWDI and they are deployed via SDM as SDA files.
From eclipse it is possible to deploy the par files with Code. Is this possible from NWDI that the par files are deployed with code to the portal server.
Regards
SundeepHi Satish,
I am using NWDS, and then check in the Portal DC which is then deployed on the runtime system.
My question is during deployment via NWDI is it possible that the par is deployed with code.
Earlier we were using eclipse for par based development, and this was possible in eclips.
With NWDI i dont think it is possible to control if the par should be deployed on the portal server with code included.

Edited by: Ozkan Onay on Jan 31, 2008 8:16 PMHi,
To deploy the application, you can without NWDS but not without server running. Server should be up for deploying any application. Go to Drive:\usr\sap\J2E\JCXX\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd
and ..\deployment\temp folders. Delete your project. It will be cleaned from the portal. Now restart the server. It will be up.
