Urgent* Device Not Detected by Firewire

I'm using a 20" iMac 10.4.1, FCP 5.1.4 along with the Panasonic Pv-GS250 and trying to capture footage. The camcorder is set to playback. FCP is showing Unable to Initialize. System profiler doesn't show the camcorder as being plugged in under the firewire section. What do I do?

You need to isolate the problem. Is it the computers FireWire port, the cable or the camera?
I have used the cable before with a different camera.
This other camera would be the next thing to try, until you can beg, steal or borrow another device, such as a FireWire extermal hard drive to see if that shows up.

  • M-audio device not detected

I keep getting this message no matter what I do. Every time I try to op the M-audio firewire software, PT m-powered 7, I always get that message. "m-audio device not detected on this mac". I can't figure it out.

Is the device turned on? The blue light should be solid blue (not flashing).
If it never goes solid blue, try a different cable, try using the adapter power (not bus power). Run System Profiler and check that your firewire bus does not say "No information found". Make sure you have the latest drivers installed. Is the audio device shown in the System Preferences -> Sound drivers? Is the audio device one of the few compatible ones with PT M-Powered?
Never hot plug the firewire cable, especially if any device is bus powered.
See where that lot gets you...

  • Audio device not detected in control panels

+Audio device not detected in control panelsa I've been using my X-Fi Platinum with Windows 7 64-bit fine for around a month now. Recently I encountered a problem where I couldn't record any sound including talking on Teamspeak. I decided to reinstall the drivers, so I cleaned them out with a driver cleaner tool, and reinstalled. Everything works fine again, but none of the applications will work anymore. They all give an error message about not being able to detect the device. This includes AutoUpdate, Creative Audio Control Panel, and Creative Console Launcher. The card appears to be working correctly everywhere else: Device manager, teamspeak works fine now, windows recorder, guitar rig (guitar amp emulator), dx diag, all working well.
I also tried installing Daniel_K's driver pack to no avail.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    /Hi Glorfindel,
Did?you?reinstall the applications from the installation cd?
Download and install the latest applications from our support site to see if it helps, click on the link and select your product. Note that some of the applications are not available on Windows 7.

  • Macbook Pro Not detecting my FireWire

    Hello,
I just had an accident a few months ago that caused many of the ports of my MacBook Pro to be crushed, however, i had the ports and logic board replaced so it should be working now. However, when i plugged in my FireWire to import a video i had shot on my Camcorder, the camera detected the FireWire but my Mac did not. I tried rebooting to solve the issue, but for some reason my Mac is not detecting the FireWire at all. The FireWire is an Apple WireFire 800 and the camera it is connected to is a Canon VIXIA HV30. I need to use my FireWire for University Classes and an internship i have. How can i fix this?

This camera is supported. You need a Firewire Cable. For FW400, you need a 4 pin to 6 pin cable. For FW 800 you need 4 pin to 9 pin cable. When going down from 6 pins (or 9) to 4, you lose the pins that provide power. So your camcorder must be plugged in to wall power (not batteries). Make sure your camcorder is in Playback mode.
Open iMovie. If it is not detected automatically in a miinute or two, try clicking on the camera icon at the left of the middle bar.

System is a custom build, based off an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium, with two GTX7800 display cards. in a SLI configuration
Fresh installation fo Windows XP Profesional with SP3 slipstreamed.
Origional CD fails to detect the card, claiming a supported device is not present.
This card has worked prevously, and is verified as fully functional in windows Vista. ?
Please note Windows Vista can not be used.
I have tried about 30 different versions of the drivers (each on a clean installation) and used both clean and dirty boots, and nothing is working.
Before anyone points me at other threads in this forum, please note i have been scouring this forum for the past week trying every sugestion there is, and I have raised a ticket with Creative (who despite the prommise of a 2 day responce, have yet to respond)
I have tired multiple versions of the NForce drivers, NVidia display drivers, Creative Drivers, Bios updates, Chipset hacks and more.
does anyone hav a sugestion that is not already posted on this forum.

Tried it on one of the spare PC's in the house earlier (Nforce 2 based) - still no recognition of the card whatsoever, it's as if it doesn't exist.
I'm guessing that the card is pretty much toasted eh?

  • Video Camera not detected through Firewire

I've been having trouble connecting my video camera to my computer for importing video into Final Cut.
After some deduction, my main conclusion/concern is that when I hook up my Canon minidv camera to the computer via firewire 400, it fails to show up in the system profiler under hardware>firewire.
I first tried all sorts of hookup sequences (involving turning off/on cpu, off/on camera, off/on program, and plugging firewire at certain times) No luck. Final Cut could not detect camera.
Secondly, tried the same thing with iMovie, but same result.
Thirdly, I bought a new firewire cable. Still didn't work.
Then, I switched my Canon with my friend's Sony video cam. Same result.
What's confusing is my Mac Pro's firewire 400 port works. I connect a Maxtor external hard drive, it is recognized, and it mounts all the time without a problem (I can also see the drive's info through system profiler.) However, when I connect my camera to the comp, and open system profiler's firewire status, I get the spinning wheel for a bit, then it says "Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices." Sometimes I don't even get that message, and system profiler just stays the same saying "FireWire Bus>Built in Hub" as if nothing is connected at all.
I also tried daisy-chaining the camera through the recognized external hd to the comp. Though, when I attempted to check the status in system profiler, the computer froze and I had to hard shutdown. Not good.
I've attempted all I can think of. Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

is the camera on apple's "approved" list? I forget where to find it but there is or was such a list. do you have any other fw devices connected? for whatever reasons, often cameras must be the only fw device connected. My first attempt would be to turn on the device and connect it with no other fw devices connected. If it did not work, I would begin my standard hardware trouble shooting which consists of booting from my clean system hd that I normally keep on a shelf. It is an HD image of my system as it came from Apple. In your case I'd get an HD and install a clean 10.4 on the HD (without updates) and try connecting after that. IF 10.4 works you could try updating to 10.4.11 and so forth. Doing this process requires two drives so you can keep a good working boot drive while continuing to update till there is a problem. This supposes it's a software issue. Doing some searching on your camera make/model and cross referencing with apple and firewire should give you an idea as to whether others are having trouble and whether it's a common problem or a software issue. If others are having no issues then hopefully it's software. Another option would be to get a deck. I use a basic dv deck and you might want to go that route too. it's a much better thing in the long run anyway and if you can afford it and can find a known-good deck it would save a lot of trouble shooting time and hassle. obviously get one you can return if it doesn't connect.

  • Video device not detected

I am new to using flash media live encoder, very little
knowledge on how this works. I downloaded it today and plugged my
JVC HD 110 with firewire and got the error message that no video
device was detected when I opened the application. I also tried
using my Sony Handycam connecting it with a USB and still nothing.
I am running the encoder on the PC side of my Mac using Parallels.
    Any thoughts?

The Mac thing may throw this for a loop, but try buying a
Dazzle RCA to USB converter (yes, even if your camera already has
USB-sometimes cameras does not have a setting to allow the video
    out in real time).
Once you connect the Dazzle (they are at every computer store
'Micro Center', etc.), it will be in the list to select, if it
already isn't the systems selected choice-you will be able to
select it. Now, if your video camera does not have RCA and it has
the 1/8 inch or any other plug-you may be back to scratch (if you
have the 1/8 inch-you can adapt that to RCA and continue from
    there).
    Good Luck!

  • *SOLVED* Device not detected/ No driver installed for X-FI Fatal

OK!!!! the only reason I signed up here was to post that I have (for me) solved my problem.
Before I get into details this occurred on a fresh system with latest drivers for hardware used.
The problem was installing my X-Fi card on my 680i m/b (striker extreme).. when I would install the driver it would simply crash the computer and when it started up the hardware was not detected to used the software and the device manager said no driver installed.. I tried everything.. I installed the driver in safe mode (yay it worked without crashing) then I booted for windows only to have it blue screen for a second and restart... repeating the cycle.. so i reinstalled windows again... I tried installing the driver different ways in windows.. nothing worked... I gave up...
    BUT!!!
today while i was at work I decided I would try one last thing.
this is what got it going. I have SLI 8800ultras that covered the PCI slot on the bottom of my board and I though I would try the card in this slot to see if it worked there... so I disabled SLI took out my bottom card put in the sound card in the bottom slot, installed the driver... It installed 00% no crash... even better it worked after the restart!!!... so then I had to test if it worked in the top slot so I powered down, moved it up to my top PCI slot and windows auto set the driver for it (as it was already installed) It worked in the top slot now... Finally I put in the second 8800 to make sure it worked with this slot in use... It still worked fine with SLI enabled. because I was unhappy with the mess I made installing drivers all the time as I did with the many crashes I decided to do a fresh install of windows making this card work from the start so here is what you need to do if you have a 680i board with SLI. this is exactly what i did with my fresh install.
    install only one GPU card..
Put the X-FI in a different slot that isn't giving you problems
    Install windows
    Install service pack 2
    install your chipset drivers
    install sound card drivers
power down, change sound card to permanent slot
    test - power down
put in the second GPU card
    install GPU drivers
Good luck you all having this problem.. I hope my solution helps you.
    Bryan

    I think I?got a similar?problem earlier today when I was messing around with?onboard audio?that I later removed and after unplugging a?USB headset.
Have you checked the device manager, is there any higlighted hardware that has a exclamation mark next to it.
I fixed the issue by simply uninstalling the WDM device with the exclamation mark and restarted.

  • Lumia 620 - Device not detected

    Hi,
I've been using my 620 for a month now with no problems.I use the phone for developing purposes (Visual Studio 2012 + Windows 8 Pro).
Around 8 days ago, I received a pack of updates of the Nokia bundled apps which I installed and after that, when I connect the phone via the USB cable, the Phone is not detected on Windows.
I read lots of other threads about this kind of problems, even went through reinstalling all the Windows Phone SDK, reinstalled drivers (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2749484), tried 4 different USB cables, on all the ports of my computer, tried 5 different computers too (two of which have Windows 7, three have Windows 8), removing the SD card, and the Phone still is not detected. The charging icon appears and the Phone charges OK though.
The Phone does not appear on Windows Device Manager under any kind of label (No Unrecognized Device either), Windows Explorer does not show any drive (MTP), its like the cable is not connected (although it charges without a problem).
I don't have the Amber update yet.
Is there any kind of setting (possibly hidden?) that controls the USB behavior of the phone? I read there are no Diagnostics tools for WP8, but, is there any way I can check if there is a hardware problem?
    Thanks in advance!

The vol down + power is only a reboot. Perhaps you might consider a reset from Settings>about>reset your phone.

I am running Arch as a host and XP on VMWare workstation 7.  My primary purpose of installing XP on VMWare was to use my edit my Line6  POD (behaves as a usb sound card) and get my USB TV Tuner box to work. I don't know vmware but with other virtual machines there is often a configuration option whether usb drives should be automatically mounted or not. Sometimes automounting also only works if the vm has the focus, i.e. is the active window.
