  • Getting extensive drive info for data recovery

i want to build a java drive fat file checker so that before each exit/reboot...the files are saved on removable disk keeping the partition information in case of a virus attact that would destroy these fat files.
The problem...is that it has been too long since i have been doing java...i need to get pointed in the right direction for this project.
If anyone could link me to file or drive object models and attributes....as well as any knowledge on drive mapping and drive info gathering would be very welcomed.
Thanks for a great forum guys!
    LA

i did notice this java class...although i read that it does not read extended partition information (ie...cluster sizes, starting positions and ending position, pointer locations etc. )
....is there not some wrapper class or something that was created for just this purpose?

  • Where do I find my Hard Drive info ? i.e. (5400 or 7200)

I am looking in System Profiler and can't find any info about my HD.
Under ATA it says there is no ATA installed.
I have a macbook pro 17" 500gb but I need to know if it is 5400 or 7200.
    Thanks

It's not on your Mac. Find the model number per my previous info then get the spec sheet from the drive manufacturer's web site. If you did not specially order the 7200 RPM drive then you have a 5400 RPM drive. You can open the drive compartment and see if the information is printed on the drive's data label.
As I said here and before if you have a stock model the drive is 5400 RPM.

  • Displaying hard drive info in finder window?

when I opened a window in Finder in previous OS, it used to display info at the bottom, like how many files were contained in that window/folder, and remaining hard drive space.  Now, in 10.7, I don't see that info anymore.  While not necessary, it is useful sometimes to quickly see how much drive space is available, and how many files in the folder, etc.  Is there an option to get that info displayed again?
    Thanks in advance!

Choose to show the status bar from the View menu. You may need to show the toolbar to get this option.

  • JDBC DRIVER info?

    HI,
i am configuring jdbc sender adapter,
can anyone guide me  in getting Java class of the JDBC driver that the JDBC adapter must load to be able to access the driver.
    thanks,

    Hi Pratibha,
As Michael has suggested, you dont need any java classes. You just need to put JDBC driver as per the database that you are trying to access.
You also need a connection string in the JDBC sender adapter and would look something like this: <b>jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=//xiserver/xitemp/db/TestDB.mdb;Uid=yourid;Pwd=yourpwd;</b>
Pls refer to the following thread for more info: How to implement File to jdbc scenario

  • Determine Drive Info From Crystal Reports - Free Space & Drive Size

I am looking for a way to determine drive information in crystal reports.
I know you can report on files and directories but I'm looking to report:
    Drive Size
    Free Space
Is it possible to use Visual Basic or Crystal commands to provide this info?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Please re-post if this is still an issue to the Legacy Application Development SDKs Forum or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly
No, Crystal Reports does not have any system API's. Search VB help file for more info on accessing drive space info.

  • Why is my Hard drive info not displaying the correct availability

I can open "About This MAC" and click on more info it lets me check my hard disk usage under storage. It shows I have 81 GB available of 499.76. However it shows 98 GB of Backups, what could that be?
Now when I actually right click on Macintosh HD it says I have 437.22 GB available of 499.25 GB. I just don't understand, and I don't believe either is right. If I right click my user file in MAcintosh HD it says I have 165 GB on disc. What gives?

That's normal. OS X Lion and Mountain Lion, when you have turned on Time Machine, create "local snapshots" on the hard drive of portable Macs. See > http://pondini.org/TM/30.html
One of the "features" of local snapshots is that Disk Utility detects them as used space and Finder detects them as free space. That's the reason why you are seeing different free spaces depending on the application you use. There's nothing wrong in making local snapshots

  • Is your K model desktop internet or download slow? possible solution? RTL8188E adapter driver info

I figured I'd make this post because it may help someone else.
I just spent wayyyy to much time trying to get my computer to download anywhere near what it should. I would start at like 1Mbs and then fizzle out to like .5-.4 Mbs. Enough about me, let me tell you what I did to solve this.
I should first say: I have a Realtek RTL8188E Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC network adapter on here. I was told to update the driver to fix the problem.
I tried the link that was given on a Lenovo forum for the driver but that didn't help at all, 2 other people in that post also said it did not work. So I did some searching and found this site:
    http://www.driverscape.com/download/realtek-rtl8188e-wireless-lan-802.11n-pci-e-nic
(I am in no way affiliated with this site, it just happened to work for me)
When I downloaded the driver from here, I used it to update my network adapter.
For those who need a bit of a walk through,
Copy the location of the driver files after you download it and then,
Go to Control Panel, pull up the device manager (just search for "device" and you'll see it.) Open Network Adapter field, right click the RTL8188E... icon, select properties, under Driver tab you'll see update driver. Chose Browse my computer for driver software, this is where the copied address of the driver comes in handy, paste it in and choose next.
Now, my device shows the name: "1x1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter"
Good thing? Bad thing? No clue. Maybe someone who knows more than me will come on here and explain that but here is the practical info, my downloads are way faster and not fizzling out.
Speedtest.net (which i recomend if you want to see how your internet connection is performing) now has my DL clocked at 40.8 Mbs and Up at 28.8Mbs.
Again, I am not a computer expert, especially not in this particular situation. I just know I am happy with the results. I hope this saves someone the crazy amount of time and energy I put in to figuring this out.
    Good luck!
p.s. feel free to reply if this works for you as well, or if you have some kind of thoughts on this, I'll try to check back.

    My five cents.....
....bought a Thinkpad 545 a couple of weeks ago. Download speed was very slow but at that time I suspected it was Comcast's fault. After I had 3 PC's sitting on my desk (wife/daughter) the only one running at speeds UNDER 1, was my Lenovo.
Called the Lenovo Serice several times but they kept telling me that it was NOT the Thinkpad that was slow but my Internet connection....hello.....2 PC's running good at speeds of 18 - 19.....only the Lenovo is slow.....
Finally they connected me with the "special service department" {or something like that).
First of all: I could NOT understand the guy ...was from India or something. After a while I understood that he wanted money from me to look at the problem....A brand new computer.....pay money to make it run????? Very bad Serive!! He got very rude with me, too.
Then I tried Damerflinns suggestion. It worked like a charm. Thank you very much!!!!!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU!

  • Saving hard-drive info

Given my problem explained at lenght in "weird pressure point a.k.a. ibook death touch" If ultimatelly I had to replace my ibook or simply my hard drive, is there a way I can hook it up to my powerbook and take off the files that are on my harddrive that i need? I don't mean in terms of opening up pb and installing the ibook harddrive in it, but to connect them via dual male firewire(I saw this in store it was $50, is that the best price out there?) or crossover cat 5 or something. The ibook is not booting into OS at the moment. I dont want to lose this very important info.
Any info on data recovery would be appreciated.

Ethernet cable will work, but slowly. Firewire is fast.Firewire target disk mode. with firewire you 1st start up bad computer while holding down the T key, wait until you have the firewire symbol showing on the bad comp screen, then you connect the 2 comps together via firewire. make sure good comp is already on. Then the bad comp icon should show up on good comp as a external device. now you can drag anything over to good comp that you want. As far as a firewire cable goes, you can get them online cheap enough from site like www.cablestogo.com or any other site like that. get a duel male 6 pin plug.

  • Satellite L300 - New hard disk drive info needed

I own a Satellite L300 and have to replace the hard disk drive. I am in Korea and went to the service center, but they only couldn't replace the disk drive because they only had them in Korean, so I have to go elsewhere to get one in English (that's what I think I was told anyway) I don't know a whole lot about computers, so I am looking for some help.
When I bought my computer it came with Vista pre installed, therefore I don't have an installation disk or anything like that. Because I am getting a new hard disk drive, will I also need to buy Vista and install it myself?

    Hello my friend
I am a little bit confused after reading your posting. HDD replacement is so simply and can be done by everyone and I don't understand how the service couldnt be able to do this. for this action you need 10 minutes and can be done without manuals or some maintenance manuals.
If you want to do this alone, please follow these steps:
    - turn notebook upside down
    - remove the battery
    - near the battery you will see HDD cover fixed with two screws
    - remove the screws and HDD cover
    - remove the HDD pack by pulling on the tab attached to the pack, following the direction of the arrows
    - place the HDD pack on a flat surface (such as a desk), and remove the two black flat head screws with black head screws
Please be careful with HDDs and do not apply pressure to the top or bottom of the drive.
    Vista OS
New Toshiba notebooks are delivered without installations disc but recovery image is saved on HDD. When you start notebook for the first time you will see Toshiba reminder with info that you must create such disc alone using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator. if you didn't create it and now the HDD is defective you have a problem. Either you must order new recovery media from Toshiba or you can use Microsoft installations disc to install Vista.
If Ive forgot something please let me know.

  • How can I transfer my old laptop hard drive info onto a partition on my new macbook pro

is this possible? i want to transfer my windows OS with all my files etc onto a partition on my new macbook pro, but i dont know if i can do it or how to go about it.
any help would be really appreciated.
could it be as simple as using the macbook as a hard drive plugged into my laptop via USB and dragging and dropping the C:/ drive into the available space?

If you want to run Windows then you need to install a new Windows copy.
I'd assume your copy is OEM and tied to the laptop unless you bought retail copy and won't use the laptop again (or sell it with Windows OS to someone else).

  • Waiver Request for Driver Info Files

    Hi,
We are in a process of achieving Gold Certification for our Website Product.
We have done MPR test and while verifying File Versioning for Binaries point , Driver related files
are failed under File versioning point.
The log shows that C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\dc21x4vm.inf_amd64_a0b21378e23f5730\ files present in this folder does n't have company name or product.
Please confirm that whether we can submit waiver request document for
    driver related files
    Shankar S

    Hi Shankar,
Sorry for missing this question earlier.
The driver files listed are because of RDS redirection.
The files in the \DriverStore\ folder can be safely ignored, though if this is the only failure, then a waiver is required.
Note that if retesting, folder redirection can be turned off, reducing noise.
