!!!!URGENT!!!! "EFI Boot" not starting up?!?!?!

I recently tried to restore my startup disk using a time machine Back-up and my start disk is called "EFI Boot".
When I start up my mac, instead of an apple logo and a spinning wheel under (loading) I get not wheel and flashing in a pattern an apple logo, a folder with a question mark and a stop sign thingy.
When I press option at start-up, I tried to partition the disk and its still the same. From there, if I press start up disk it tells me there is no disk to strat up form.
Any advices or fixes??

You will need to format the harddrive in your mac, reinstall the os and then use migration assistant to get your items off the time machine.

Always use Windows. Your Mac should be able to install Windows in EFI mode without any problem, but you will have hardware problems if you use it, apart from not being able to install the Windows support software

Urgent - Host Instances not starting. Error 1053 , In Biztalk Server 2010 Environment

Hi,
All host instances are down and when we try to start them we get the following error:
Windows could not start the Biztalk Service Biztalk Group :
HOST_NAME service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
We already restarted SQL, SSO and BizTalk. Any suggestions?
What is the impact of doing a BizTalk repair? Do I lose anything?

URGENT - SL410 will not start

When I try to start up it asks me to choose between normal startup and to repair (recommended). I choose repair and it starts the repair. After hours, I went to bed last night while it was finding problems to fix and this morning, it was finished. But it just took me through the same steps and it will not start up. It will act like it is starting up. You see Windows Starting up, then the logo and it stays stuck there and then goes right back to the screen choose between repair startup or normal startup. I checked the USB ports. All pins are the same distance apart so I don't think that could be the problem.

I am able to get to screen for Safe Mode, etc. however whether I try Safe Mode or Safe Mode with networking, it just hangs at the loading windows file screen. After a while, it goes right back to Launch Startup Repair screen. Then it is a constant looping of same if I just let it run without turning off the computer.

HP Notebook 250 64 bit Windows 7+ Ubuntu Dual Boot - Not starting!

I have dual boot installed on the above mentioned laptop. While working, I was prompted to update flashplayer. Once the update was complete, the computer restarted and the usual dual boot menu did not appear. The machine keeps attempting to load it, fails then reverts back to shutting down and starting again. I ran diagnostic and the machine passed both hard drive and memory tests.
I have UEFI on the machine and have therefore tried to look for solutions here:

nothing applies since I don't get any error messages. Nevertheless, I tried a system reset, which did nothing.

Hi,
I was prompted to update flash player while workign and did so. After restarting, the laptop won't start. No error messages, no login menu, no dual boot menu. I ran diagnostics and both memory and hard drive tests passed. I have UEFI on the machine and therefore tried the link:

However, none of the options apply since I don't get any error messages. I nevertheless tried a system reset, which did nothing.

I have an Intel-based iMac, with OS X 10.4 (10.4.7 or 10.4.11 - i cannot check or remember). There was an option to do a EFI Firmware update. It said I would need to shutdown, and then hold the power button until a long tone. (I may have let go of the power button too early) Instead of one long tone, there were three beeps (dot dot dot dash dash dash dot dot dot, like morse code) and the computer will not start now.
I do not have instillation CD's, etc but could probably burn them if I can download the ISO. However I would like to recover the system.

Install disks become necessary if you need to either do some troubleshooting, some of which can only be run if you booted with the install CD, or you need to reinstall the system. So, I would try to get install disks from Apple.

Here is an important paragraph from that article:
Important: Do not unplug, shutdown, or restart your computer while the update is taking place. Interrupting a firmware update can render your computer unusable. If this happens, take your machine to an Apple store or authorized service provider or perform the recovery yourself using another Macintosh computer to download the Firmware Restoration CD disk image from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/. This software allows you to create a CD which you can use to restore your machine to working order.

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
If this does not work, then you will have to erase and reinstall Mountain Lion:

Will not start even in safe boot after installing latest camera update

MacBook Pro will not start even in safe boot after installing latest camera update.
I started my machine and did a software update. Only the camera update needed. So installed and when required I pressed restart. It restarted and did install. Then restarted again. I expected to get to the login screen and it turned itself off. Tried three more times. Each time shutting off. I unplugged everything, and pressed start waiting for log in window. No it shutdown before the log in window. I then tried safe mode and that did not work either on three more occasions.

I have managed to resolve some issues. I can now restart the machine via a CD boot. If I do cmd C into something like tech tool pro, then restart from that disks menu it restarts every time.
If I try a safe start it shuts down. If I try a normal start it shuts down. I have managed to repair permissions and that cleared up some start up permissions but with no improvement to the boot problem. The only way to load is via the cmd-C boot option. Any other ideas?

Oracle 11g XE listener does not start automatically during boot

This happened to me recently I just wanted to share it with you.
For development I was running Standard Edition, at some point I decided to run also XE on the same server for another reasons. Everything was working fine, except that after restart of the server, the XE listener is not starting automatically. Debugging the startup script I found that this happens because of a bug in the code, which assumes that XE listener is running if it finds the word LISTENER within the processes list. I didn't found any obligation in the docs for running XE without any other databases on the same host.
In file /etc/init.d/oracle-xe, at line 556 the code is failing:
1     + status='oracle 2889 1 0 May13 ? 00:00:05 /oracle/ora112se/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit'
2     + '[' 'oracle 2889 1 0 May13 ? 00:00:05 /oracle/ora112se/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit' == '' ']'
As you can see I have another listener(the one for SE) running and because of the XE startup script found the keyword LISTENER it’s supposing that the XE LISTENER is already running.
To fix this simply change line 556 from:
1     status=`ps -ef | grep tns | grep oracle`
To:
1     status=`ps -ef | grep tns | grep oracle | grep xe`
Now XE listener is started automatically during boot.

I though the same thing, but XE LISTENER is running on localhost and port 1522. On the other hand XE have local_listener explicitly set to the very same connection descriptor. Even XE installation was second on this server.
I've could change that yes, but the startup script doesn't seemed to have this mind.

i checked in cmd prompt, by r3trans -d. its telling " error <0012>
.i need the command for mounting the database.

Just to add some more details here which will help in diagnosing the problem. I deleted the boot.properties file and the command prompt asked me for the username and password. I provided the correct details but still the server could not start up. Here are the details from the log file:

HELP urgently needed: My Sandberg FireWire for Laptop will not start on my T60

Let me start with information on my T60:
OS information: Microsoft Windows XP
OS version: 5.10.2600 Service Pack 2
Processor: x86 Family 6 Model 14 Stepping 8
Memory: 3.135.856 kb
BIOS version: 2.09 (79ETC9WW)
Machine type-Model: 1951A47
I have just got a new Sandberg FireWire for Laptop, a PC Card with 3 6-pins connectiont. After inserting the card in the PC Card slot, the Windows Device Manager tells me that there are problems with the card. Looking at the 1394 Card Properties the status says:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10) - Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
The troubleshooter did not solve my problem. I have tried disconnecting, re-connection, shut down Windows and start again etc.
At Sandberg Help Desk they tell me that I have two slots in my laptop, one with a 16 bits bus and another with a 32 bits slots, and I should use the latter. It seems that I can use the lower slide only in my laptop and I cannot push the card into the upper slide. There is not enough room for it.
Here is what I found on Lenovo's support site on my type & model:

Conforms to the PC Card Standard 95
Type II slot
Both the 16-bit Release 2.1 card standard and the 32-bit CardBus card are supported.

Sounds to me like a driver configuration problem. Maybe something bad happened during driver install. I would recommend uninstalling the device from device manager by right clicking on it and hitting uninstall. Reboot the computer. Have a go at it again. Also, test your pcmcia port functionality by finding and plugging in a different card. See if that works. It might need repair.

The status right now is:
The PC Card reader works on my T60
If I use a Firewire PC Card it will not start - as described above (on T60)
The PC Card work properly on my T61P - and I succeeded importing a video file from a digital camera using the Fireswire PC Card.
So what does a wise man do in this situation??
Please help me as I urgently need to know how to solve this serious issue!!
Have you got an idea? Can I import the video in another way??

I currently have a problem with the EJBException which does not give the
client the getCausedBy() Exception. I d' like to try the 5.1 sp8 to see if
the bug is fix.
Unfortunately, after having installed the sp8, my WLS 5.1 does not start
anymore : I get an invocationTargetException.
Does anyone have a clue ?

Hey I own hp dv6 3043 tx and am facing error 301 on boot up ..and later it does not start...pl help?

I bought a dv6 3043 tx in 2010.. For about 1 and half years it worked fine but a few days bak .its performance went down...few days later it showed up with error301 at boot up when I clicked continue to boot up...it fails to boot and started over again ...
